Last one for the arvo. Sometimes u get to see stuff at GZ…eventually and this is classic as the growth thickens after constant summer rains. On a post MEGA mission in the Warby’s cos I love this area and rather enjoy heading off track as there’s always something to surprise and ‘AMAZE’! As usual not disappointed. TFTC
Walked straight into it, absolutely beautiful up here. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
we were looking for reception
experience tells us that tonight’s campground is a black spot
any messages to send, any calls to make, need to be sorted now
we were looking for likely spots with reception: surely a high point will suit
with the sun already setting, time was also of the essence
the legs were feeling a little sore after a full day hiking
but we reached the summit soon enough
we sucked up the reception
as the mosquitoes sucked up our blood
we used as much as we gave
business done:
now, it is time to head downhill and make camp
soon, it is time for bed

Another day and another walk in the Warbies! Today we are completing some caches in the area haven't been before. Prickly walk through the scrub to GZ here on a warm sunny day. TFTC
We will certainly be returning to this area when the weather is cooler but not to cold. SL TFTC
Found by FATZ (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ, ZQX) on an overcast morning.
Edit of 22 January 2022: It seems like the four of us were the only ones to find this during the entire mega weekend. I suppose there were hundreds of caches closer to the mega site than this one. Also, I don't know how we squeezed in a 8-km walk here and still managed 12 or 13 types in a day, plus watching some cricket. It was once of the busiest days of my caching life.
Thanks for another good one, JA.

This extended weekend, team FATZ (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ and ZQX) headed to the Wangaratta Mega.
Today was the Mega, picking up a bunch of different caches and catching up with people I haven't seen for a while.
A nice hike through the bush and scrub. Great morning to get this before it gets hot. TFTC JA

Cache 8478 on 15 Jan 2022.
Headed to Wangaratta with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and ZQX to attend the Mega, Maze and generally pick up a stack of caches around the area. Looking forward to fun weekend caching and catching up with buddies! About time my new car got some Kms on the odometer!
Today: caching in and around Wangaratta, getting a few different cache types in a day, interesting DT combinations and a bit of socialising! Started with a few easy ones in town, then an 8km hike in Warby-Ovens National Park and then back for events around the Showgrounds and a few more caches for personal and published challenges.
This cache: a bonus cache which we grabbed on our way across to loggers road! Great views from here!
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache and the fun!

A road trip with Fox in Jox, AngelG27, and ZQX (Team FATZ) to attend the Wangaratta Mega. Today was picking off some particular D/T caches, attending events and aiming for 12 or 13 cache types in a day. This cache was found on a roughly 8km walk, as we happened to be passing nearby. TFTC.

Victoria is reunited once more and it’s Day 1 of the first regional road trip in what seems like forever. First thing on our list was to get OHC’s puncture from last night repaired and then set out and explore some of the new puzzle caches as well as the BYO ladder series.
Having made it half way already for a different cache, we decided to continue on to “quickly” grab this cache and hopefully catch a great view of the sunset at the top. As we wandered for what seemed like ages we didn’t seem to get any closer to the cache. Indeed we were circling the perimeter of the summit instead of moving closer towards it. Ooops sometimes you should read the description in more detail before setting off.
Quickly switching to bush bashing as the sun was about to set we made our way through the scrub to the top and thankfully found the cache not long after. Unfortunately no views from this spot but the ones on the way up had been worth it.
Opting for the quicker bush bash straight down the other side on the way back, it was a much quicker return to the car, as is often the case, and made it before the light faded!
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache and for contributing to the game.

Now that metro can visit rural again, a camping trip was top of the freedom agenda.
Day 1: Drop off car tyre for repair after yesterday’s flat, then off to explore.
Found on the tail end of a rather long day of caching. Unfortunately no picturesque sunset today, but some rather stunning views from various spots along the way.
Looking forward to getting back to camp, dinner and campfire.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, Jamin Appleford

As we were almost there, a bush bash was decided on and we made to this one as the sun was getting very low. Pleased it didn't take too long to locate the cache, sign the log and return it to it's hide. A more direct path was chosen to get back to the car. Although it was a little rougher going, I am sure it was quicker. Now back to camp, some food and a fire. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here.
What were a couple more scratches. Probably wouldn't notice them amongst the others anyway. It was decided that as this cache wasn't too far away, we would do this one then head back to home base for some food and a camp fire. The cache was quickly located and we were on our way back, albeit not via the well formed track. Thanks for the cache.
Found our way to this one mostly via a mountain bike track, but the last 70 or so meters was bush bashing through prickly wattles and tall spiky bushes. Luckily we were both wearing gloves, so could push things aside without getting scratched. We walked through some peaceful and pretty scenery and loved the sundews and orchids and the everlasting daisies just about to open everywhere. The blue-lidded container was easily spotted at GZ and SL at 11.37am #8214 TFTC Jamin - now to find our way back to Loggers Lane and the waiting GeoCruiser!
Pushed through the scrub to this one hoping for a view at least but not so. The bushes are too dense and tall.
Happy to find the cache all the same.
Happy to find the cache all the same.
A few puzzles solved, so time to pick them up before the rains come.
Chewin', BettyBoo3747 and I set off for Wang and the Warbys for some short walks.
The small bushes have grown up a lot around GZ making it a slow bush bash to this location.
Expected a bit more of view from this one.
We shall be back one day for the rest of this series.
Thanks, Robmc.

#18004. Out collecting a mixed bag from Warbys to Wang with Robmc and chewinprickles this morning. Three at the top and three back around town. Managed to finish before the rains came.
Too much bush bashing for my liking getting to this cache. I arrived with bloodied hands from pushing aside all the spiky bushes. Did spy some magnificent grass trees on the route in though. Had to keep getting the guys to call out as I would lose sight of them within a few meters. Not my favourite kind of walking in the bush. Finally, our names were added to the log and I was handed a pathtag left by the previous finders in May.
Thanks Jamin Appleford

Having a rare day off, I decided to get up early and get a cache in the Warby Ranges. This would my first find in these hills, and I wasn’t disappointed. Leaving the work ute at the carpark, I ventured up Loggers Ln until I was within about 200m of GZ. Then I had to make my own goat track up the hill to GZ. Not sure if this was the easiest way, but definitely got my heart rate up...which honestly isn’t hard...I needed the workout. Once there the cache was easily found, signed and put back in place. Took a couple of pics and began the descent back down. I will return. TFTC Jamin Appleford
Thank you Jamin for making the find relatively easy with the cache container and spot. Made the hard walk and the previous DNF worth the outing today. Lots of bush bashing!! TFTC. BYW, left a pathtag.
Came in from loggers lane and it was pretty dense taking the nearest way in from the track. Was a pretty easy find for a micro in the bush. I headed out on the spur back down to the track and i was much more open and grassy. Thanks
Out for a ride around the warbies with muggle friend liam for the day. After we were dropped off, we rode along the track until we decided to dump the bikes and go on foot. Made our way up the hill through the scrub until we reached the top where we were surprised to find fellow cacher 'Happy Pants' who helped us find the cache. Once our name was signed in the book. We made our way down the hill and on to the next ones.
Managed to get some time away from home today for my birthday treat and made the most of heading out for a bush walk and also the opportunity to grab a cache or two. This was my first find for the day and initially I had to circle around a little to let the GPS settle and l soon found a little clearing and a little cache to boot. Added my name to the small list of fellow finders and dare l say it suprised to find yet again l was jibbed of some unloved by a logbook that wasn't signed from a previous finder... becoming very common out these parts over the past few visits. I was more suprised to stumble across a few cacher (pigwigeon) and his mate Liam making their way to the gz as l was heading out. Not too common to come across others in my travels out here in the hills. Hung around while he signed the log and then headed off to tackle a few more hides along the trail. Thanks Jamin Appleford for bringing me and the hide. A slightly different hide than l am used to from you but as usual another beautiful spot you have highlighted.
A cool and overcast day after a clear and starry night
Typical Wang winter weather !! [:o]
So it was time to enjoy some strollin' the Warby's
First stroll was from the parkin' spot,
and after following the bike trails,
I got close 'nuff to GZ to head on up the hill
Lovely bushland area up here,
though not a lot of views
TFTC in ...
... dare I say it ?? ...
the obvious spot

OMG! What a full on day! [|)][xx(][|)]
dalerious had wanted to get some caches in the Warby-Ovens NP last weekend however Cybergran V had other plans for him so the trip was put off until today.
Can I just say that I had no bloody idea what I was letting myself in for!!
By the end of the day a VERY ROUGH estimate of the distance walked was 10.5km.
As that was using Google Earth path measuring, it did not include the numerous minute adjustments to the track that were involved due to dodging rocks, fallen trees, steep slopes and brush that seemed determined to make me look like it as it covered me from head to toe and remained in my hair and skin for hours afterwards
6 months ago I moved to Shepparton for work and have since been plagued with arthritic knees and hips that caused almost contstant pain, hence have done very little caching that involved walking
My head is still shaking in disbelief that I made it to these caches , did not do my usual autumn leaf impression even once [^] and while I am now logging these on the following day I am pleased to say that I can actually stand upright and even walk [^]
Only 5 caches were found today between 9am and 6pm however it was a brilliant day spent in the bush with blue skies above , almost no wind until much later in the day (despite storm warnings for the lower half of Victoria) and the huge amount of patience shown by dalerious who had to keep stopping and waiting for the slow old lady who just could not keep up [:X]
The only downside to the day was that the caravan park bathroom with the bath in it was locked at 10pm when I stumbled over with my big box of Epsom Salts so that luxury had to wait
On our way out there was 'just one more' cache to be found
A slog uphill as darkness slowly descended and for a high point, the views from this cache late in the day were less than we had just seen at the nearby Wangandary Falls cache as the trees blocked a lot of the view
Still it is very nice to get these 3 caches off of the map here and end a big day out with another find [^]
Now back to the main track out of here and even I managed to make it back to the car without having to pull out my torch from my camelback, although in the now almost total darkness I did step on a small round piece of timber which moved under my foot but thankfully not enough to cause a sprained ankle!
Thus ends my biggest walking day in over 6 months[^]

#2659 FTF @ 948am. Surprisingly this cache remained unclaimed for a few days. Mr BGF woke up early for a Sunday and made a run for it, well more of a huff and puffing slow walk uphill for it. A nice quick find once at gz due to spot on coords. On the way back down heading east some good views were spotted between the trees. TFTC and much needed exercise JA.
