Not able to get here in the required timeframe so will free up the spot for someone else.
Violet Butterfly, Astro Hunter and I spent a lot of time looking for this one, but there was no cache in sight. Owner might want to check on it.
No traffic on the runway today. A few pricks in our fingers from grass
Cache - Dry and all in order. T.F.T.F
Our trip - 3 day trip planned a couple months out for birthday celebrations. We flew in with Barrier air, rented a car to help explore the island.... 3 days after Cyclone Gabrielle we were coming if they allowed us on the island to help clean up or holiday. Road access and tracks we used were open and clear - only access to Tryphena wharf - CLOSED. We did help some locals cleaning up seaweed at Okupu bay whilst the tide was out.

On GB for a couple of days, enjoying nice weather and some caching. I made hard work of this one by closely inspecting some incorrect posts. But eventually realized my mistake. Thanks for the cache and for getting us to stop here.

Good clue and a top spot for a geo cache, thank you so much for putting this cache here.
I made this one far harder than it needed to be... After waiting for the local man to stop walking his dog on the airfield, we headed off into the long grass. it was actually my friend K who found this, after I went waaaay to far past it.
Beautiful Resurrection day!
Thanks for the cache! Made us stop where we’d otherwise zoom past.

The airfield was deserted today so we were able to park very close to gz. Cache was quickly found in the obvious spot. MrJAG remembers flying into Okiwi when there was just a grass strip for the runway
great day out exploring port fitzroy. nice bush at glenfern sanctuary. quick stop on way back to Claris. long grass but cache safe and dry. tftc
Co-ords were spot on, long grass made it an interesting wade in! On an island adventure with philbirdboys TFTC
Found with mumandme and Madcow2. Quick easy find, now home for a drink. TFTC
On second pass next day... GPS now settled and not on runway!
A nice quick and easy find.
TFTC and a toilet.

We had just stopped off at the local DOC headquarters nearby to fill up our vessels with water before making our way up to Mt Heale. Stopped here to get this cache and to rearrange the packs to ensure we did not take anything more than was needed. Easy find. All is well
Second item checked .
Sat view still shows unsealed
Airstrip. Seems it was sealed around the time scheduled flights here ceased ! Just occasional charters now.
Thanks

Heading back from Port Fitzroy and grabbed this one we missed on the way over. A quick find here, SL and left as found. Great poem for which a FP is given.
Visited the Barrier for the first time ever early last year, to catch up on the family ( Claris ) history, but that was before I got hooked on this crazy lark 11 months ago.
I had thought of a return trip to look for the caches, but because there were only 8, it hardly seemed worthwhile. A little while ago though, quite a few new caches were placed and that piqued my interest somewhat. A check a couple of weeks ago indicated that most were still available for FTFs, so a plan was formulated for a two day trip to try and turn the island as yellow as possible. I just hoped the weather would co-operate and amazingly, it did.
After landing on the early flight in and picking up the rental car, I headed northwards up to Windy Canyon and the Mt Hobson track. After a 4 hour trek up and back and successfully finding all those caches, I carried on north and this one at Okiwi was next on the list. Nobody at all around at the airfield this avo, so no problems looking for the cache which was soon found in the described location.
No FTF here though as cache had been found a couple of weeks prior, but still a 2TF though. TFTC

Ftf. Driving back to the airport to head home. Had a few minutes to spare so checked out the doc campground and beach. Beautiful spot. Would be awesome to come here and bike tour and stay at a couple of these places. Great poem. Tftc
Not claiming FTF as I was present at placement.
Out and about with the CO, mikemiss and Gorby enjoying an extended weekend of caching, hiking and general exploring of Great Barrier Island. Time to head back to the accomodation for some lunch, but not before FMZ places this puntastic hide. Cheers for the cache placement!

Not claiming FTF here. Out and about in a hired car with mike-missx2 (Mr and Mrs), Lostcourse and the C.O for 3 great days of fun, caching, walking etc. As we passed by here, the C.O. decided this airport needed a cache, especially with such a cool name. so with great enthusiasm he bounced out of the car and placed a cache. Co-ords were taken and just like that we're off again.
Not claiming FTF as was alongside the CO on placement.
An awesome weekend away to the Barrier with geocaching friends - FMZ, gorby and Lostcourse. On our way back to our accommodation for some lunch, we decided we'd stop in at this airport for a quick look around and place another cache. A clever play on words - TFTC!
