Didn't even get a chance to look. Lots of unloading, and truck loading going on, and very attentive safety monitors.
Interesting watching the ferry tied up at the wharf, its making my green just watching it today! nice find today
not many people around on Easter Friday which made it a lot easier to look for without having people to think we were up to something dodgy behind the wall [8]
Road closure due to Cyclone Gabrielle only reason it's a DNF
Our trip - 3 day trip planned a couple months out for birthday celebrations. We flew in with Barrier air, rented a car to help explore the island.... 3 days after Cyclone Gabrielle we were coming if they allowed us on the island to help clean up or holiday. Road access and tracks we used were open and clear - only access to Tryphena wharf - CLOSED. We did help some locals cleaning up seaweed at Okupu bay whilst the tide was out.

A couple of days on GB. First mission is to check out this end of the island and pick up this cache. Followed the clue and soon had it done. Thanks for the cache.

Found with elihyn and richargr. Beautiful spot so glad the cache hunt brought me here. All in good order. TFTCC
Spending a few days on the island having a good look around. A beautiful area to come to. An easy find with livingk and richargr. Thanks for placing the cache
Only a few hours left on the island and what better way to fill them in but find a cache or two, cache dry as a chip in good condition, tftc.
got here to find a sailor who's engine had failed, and the wind was blowing the wrong direction for him to get home. Dad helped him set up his fishing line and bait the hooks, while I wandered to the cache site.
We watched two fishing boats get ready to head out for the day, before heading to gz to find this cache. We found the likely hiding spot but unfortunately it was empty. We looked below us on the ground and spotted a familiar container with a red lid. We opened the red lidded container to find it was the cache with a logbook. Replaced the cache back to where we thought it should have been.
This was a challenge. A van was parked very close by and two men were having a long unhurried chat standing outside. In the end my non-geocaching friend said "let's do it" and she clambered over the scratchy branch trimmings and was just able to reach it. Neither of us are tall! Very pleased to claim this one. Thanks funkymunkyzone.
TFTC. A wee trip to paradise.
Caching was just one of the adventures over the few days I was here.
Total paradise.

After a lovely breakfast at Mulberry Grove we headed out to get the last few caches before flying home . Easy find and retrieval by Phil. SL TFTC
Had a wonderful weekend with Deb & Colin with lots of fun. Beautiful island, great people, nice found! Thanks for the cache!
Visiting my motherland from Oz again this January. It’s always so good to be back in NZ....NZ is a place I come to reconnect with my identity and memories, see my parents & sister, have microadventures and eat copious quantities of Frujus, anything feijoa flavoured, Puhoi Valley Columbian Iced Coffee, Poppa Jacks and Mallowpuffs. Ohhhh how I miss those things in Australia!!
Mum and Dad are spending a couple of months this summer volunteering as DOC camp wardens at Harataonga Bay on GBI, so I jumped at the chance to come over and visit, since it may be my one and only chance.
We are getting to and from this island by plane, so wouldn’t have otherwise come to see the wharf if it weren’t for this cache placement. Before exploring, we pulled up in the shade right next to GZ and made a quick find. Afterwards, the kids wanted to jump off the wharf but, due to all the shark sightings in and around Harataonga Bay, I preferred not to let them become shark bait in the deep water and we settled for a shallow soak in Pah Beach instead.
Thanks for bringing us here, funkymunkyzone.

The ferry was just about to leave when we passed this cache on the way to the beacon one. Found it on our way back. TFTC
Found with mumandme and Madcow2. Quick find but not a nice spot with the dead rodent! TFTC
Off the boat and straight onto a cache.
How good is that!
There is a slightly dead, mummified critter guarding the cache. I left it there.

A little terrified by the resident petrified rat looming over the cache but otherwise a good spot.
Over here on the Barrrier for a wedding so was looking foward to grab a few geocaches while I was here. Now that the wedding is over and we have a few hours before we needed to catch our plane home we managed a bit of a tiki tour around the Southern half of the island. The few days we have spent here have been magical and I'm looking forward to a return visit. Thanks for placing this cache and showing me around this amazing island.
First find on the island, coords seamed a little out but there was a fairly obvious spot which matched the hint. Would of liked to of grabbed the other nearby cache but we got the tides wrong.

Stopped here for a quick find.

2nd cache of the day on GBI. Had to find the wharf for our trip home so two birds with one stone here! A quick find in the obvious spot. TNLNSL and thanks for the placement funkymunkyzone.
Visited the Barrier for the first time ever early last year, to catch up on the family ( Claris ) history, but that was before I got hooked on this crazy lark 11 months ago.
I had thought of a return trip to look for the caches, but because there were only 8, it hardly seemed worthwhile. A little while ago though, quite a few new caches were placed and that piqued my interest somewhat. A check a couple of weeks ago indicated that most were still available for FTFs, so a plan was formulated for a two day trip to try and turn the island as yellow as possible. I just hoped the weather would co-operate and amazingly, it did.
After landing on the early flight in and picking up the rental car, I headed northwards up to Windy Canyon and the Mt Hobson track. After a 4 hour trek up and back and successfully finding all those caches, I carried on north to do the rest up there and then headed back down here to Tryphena for the second day's effort.
After doing the beacon cache, I made my way back to the rental cache mobile which just happened to be parked within 30m of GZ. After waiting for a local muggle to pass walking his dog, I made a quick find of this cache in the expected location. And again, yay, another blank log meant this was FTF # 36 for me. TFTC

Not claiming FTF as was there on placement.
Over on Great Barrier Island for a long weekend of hiking and caching with the CO, mikemiss and Gorby. Final day on the island to find the last few hides and place a few more to boot. Took a couple of visits to the wharf before the CO was satisfied with the hide. Shortly after placing the cache the CO came to the rescue of a tourist with a broken suitcase who was walking out to the wharf. He was able to whisk her to the terminal and recollect us before a heavy shower hit. Cheers for the cache placement and our good deed for the day!

Not claiming FTF here, but I was here with the C.O on placement. We've been here before, the C.O eventually wanted to place a cache here and found a good spot. While here, Lostcourse was determined he was placing a cache not far away on a hill, so he shot off to do that too. But then as were heading away from here the C.O was driving and spotted a young Norwegian woman with a very broken suit case, so he offered to drive here to her accommodation near this wharf, which meant all of us jumping out of the car while he did a good deed. Then just in the nick of time, he was back and we jumped into the car before getting drenched! Cool fun, I love these little impromptu things that happen!!
Not claiming FTF as was alongside the CO on placement.
An awesome weekend away to the Barrier with geocaching friends - FMZ, gorby and Lostcourse. The weather wasn't the greatest on our last day on the island. We'd been to Tryphena wharf a couple of times over the weekend but it was decided on our third visit that there really did need to be a cache placed here. We found a suitable spot and this cache's existence became a reality. This one may be a first on the island for some if arriving by boat. TFTC!
