Great way to punctuate / finish the uphillportion of todays walk. A brilliant view and good way to clear out my struggling lungs. Cache in great shape. Tftc

Found a smaller unrelated one on the way to this one, but we did eventually find this one
Today, my three daughters and two granddaughters went out with me to Mt. Cannibal Reserve. They enjoyed the outing and encouraged my granddaughters to find and sign the log for me. fav from me. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache Team Smokey-Bear.
Second loop around Mt Cannibal today - first loop with non-geocaching friends. So after delicious lunch in Garfield, returned to go exploring. Glad I did, got to experience great views and walk all over again. Cache easily found and in good nick.thanks for the cacheregardskbucky
Had a bit of time up my sleeve today on my way home so stopped here to stretch the legs and break up the journey.Nice views up here, defiantly worth the walk. The cache area was worked out so with a little scouting around a likely site was spotted and sure enough there it was. All good hereTFTC
Great views here. We calculated where to go and then made our way. At first, I thought we might be in trouble but a lucky stop and look revealed the cache. Found with ConnieandRick. Thanks for placing.
With Wombatwandering on our first day Melbourne to Canberra for the Mega and lovely to ne in this restful area, with great views. We came via Gippsland to get a couple of 2001 hides but this was a nice stop-off.
Found this cache on a walk this morning at Mt Cannibal, took a while to figure out the projection from GZ, but got there in the end. Thanks for the cache!! Beautiful day for a walk
Went out for a family walk to Mt Cannibal including my mum in the afternoon..
Grabbed all the caches in the area.
Great views to be had also. Started getting busy as we were leaving..
This cache was a great hiding spot like they always are. Took a bit of searching to find it.
Careful in summer for snakes I reckon in this area with the caches.
Ps. Someone has nicked the stamp. It wasn't here.

I just happened to be five minutes down the road checking on the horses when two notifications came through on some Hunter caches, I was not sure how I would go as I put My back out at the weekend and could hardly walk for three days, turns out this walk was just what I needed to get moving again. I have been putting the walk up here off for far too long but I could not resist going for the FTF's so this cache was done on route. Some great views at GZ.
The cache was in excellent condition, not sure who's doing the maintenance on this, last time I saw the smoky Bear I made him a promise for stealing some Maccamob Path tags off me at a Christmas event, as I am a man of My word, I fulfilled that promise today.
Thanks DGS for the cache.

Todays task was to get myself from Geelong to Paynesville. Decided to leave at stupid o’clock and see what caches I could find in the way down, primarily targeting gaps in Jasmer, Hidden date calendar & anything else that took my fancy.
After chasing Bunyips in Bunyip, I took a cursory glance at the map before continuing onwards with my Journey. And that is how I found myself at Mt Cannibal. Letterboxes, a golden oldie & some terrain stars to boot? Sure. Not sure I have time, but lets go have a look anyway. Very glad I did, what a stunning place to be for an early morning walk. The regrowth is fantastic to see, but made getting to caches a challenge which will only increase in the future at a guess.
Third stop for the day here, had my homework done and set off to GZ. I think approaching this cache from the direction I did probably helped me, worked my way to where I needed to be and was rewarded with a fairly quick find.
Thanks for placing this cache, yet another cracking location I would never have known about without caching, regardless of the fact Mrs BFMC grew up 15 minutes down the road.

We needed some exercise and decided to visit this area a while back and pick up a few caches as a bonus.
After standing there and admiring the view, we headed down to GZ to discovered the generously sized container.
A great walk, great views, good exercise and a slice of adventure as well. What else can you ask for!
Thanks Dirtbags Downunder for bringing us to this fantastic place that we would not have discovered without the caches here. A favourite point from us.
Chiefton!!!

After finding my first cache for the day I semi went into a combo of Jane modes GI Jane and Tarzan Jane- yes I needed the two modes to traverse the landscape to this next cache - I swung from the tree/vines sometimes I hugged one or two in my attempt to stay upright and avoid getting whiplash by said vines. I made it to GZ and followed the instructions.. upon finding said cache even though it hand no stamp (tsk tsk) At this point of the morning I was feeling very chuffed with my self - this place is amazing - very zen. I embraced the sun and sat on a few rocks while I made my way to the next cache full of Jane bravado.
Very fun clamouring around and exploring. Also YAPIDKA again - and a really nice well loved little park with fine views and surprising landscape of granite. Headed up here with Crustyvarmint and son so was in jolly good company. And a fave for location!. TFTC and the fun
After seeing another event attendee pointing in this direction and saying "there's a cache over there", Team Gruidae and I set about descending. Thankfully Paul the Hippy followed and asked us if we'd projected yet. Wha? Of course, in our enthusiasm, we'd not read the instructions but ended up guessing where the cache would be and making our way over. Extraction relied on me lying on a rock, arms dangling over and long-armed Team Gruidae reaching in from the side to make a team effort. TFTC Dirtbags
After meeting some new people at the event today, Mummy Short Legs suggested we start to tackle some of the other caches in the area. With this being the closest, we set off enthusiastically - until Paul the Hippie pointed out the small detail in the cache description that we had overlooked. He was more than happy to explain what we needed to do to aid it’s discovery, and, soon enough, the familiar cry of ‘I’ve got it!’ was heard to ring through the trees by MSL. A favourite for my first of this type of cache!
Upon arriving at the event, Ronice88, my son and I spent a few minutes admiring the great view. The weather was perfect for this expedition today.
A few more attendees began to arrive so, before we got too involved with the important part of the day, chatting, we went in search of this cache. The calculation for the offset coords had been done at home, so we knew just where to go.
We made a quick find, signed the log, then returned to the ever-growing group to exercise our vocal cords.
Thanks for the fun Dirtbags Downunder.

After everyone left the event l ventured into the abyss to find this cache after negotiating the way successfully and then back out again added my signature and replaced... TFTC DGS
mount cannibal seems a suitable haunt for these dirtbag folk
and a fitting wellspring for the counterculture that is caching dirtbag-style
but
i was expecting dirtbags would place treasure in hard-to-reach places eschewed by normal folk
when i reached gz, however, i was suddenly pounced upon by a man and his kid just wandering and rock-hopping their way around the mountain
thankfully they didn’t seem to pay too much attention to the guy blundering about in the bushes
thanks for the fine treasure in a worthy spot
and thanks for the chance to, as i think it’s called, get dirty

Thanks for the cache. All in good condition. Great to find Victoria’s first DBS cache! It was really nice here today. Perfect weather.
Cheers

As I headed up the hill, I came to the big clearing. It has started to rain, but the view nor adventure where destroyed.
Two young girls stood on the rock trying to navigate what I can only assume was a new drone. I waited patiently and in hope that it would crash to the ground, but sadly they somehow managed to get control and took the selfie they so badly wanted.
I again took a moment to take in the serenity before heading down to the cache. I marvelled are the lone house that somehow still stood with burntout Forest all around it. The regrowth in the distance was amazing and I imagined the fire rolling in over the hill... how Catastrophic it must have been.
The small journey over the rocks and down to where the cache was, was almost kind fun in the rain. I was glad I had bought myself a decent pair of trail shoes for extra grip.
It wasn’t long before I had the cache signed and back in it’s hiding place.
Thanks for the cache and adventure DGS.

Awesome as views, cool find. Thanks! No stamp but I didn't have my book anyway some awesome trades here
DGS’s first Victorian cache and not once did we fear for our lives. You guys & gals have come a long way:) After a little more huffing and puffing, we arrived at the posted coordinates to the most magnificent views, took a seat and drank in the tranquility. With GZ calculated, we made our way off the beaten track and having for once done a little research, ignored the strategically placed step ladder placed near the barb wire fence and continued onto GZ.
Love finding these containers and sifting through the swag. Thanks Dirtbags Downunder and Team Smokey-Bear for showing us this little piece of paradise.

Well this one caused us a few issues. The projection took us over a new barbed wire fence to a place where there was no cache.
Refreshing the cache information we used, caused the projection to be updated, and that took us to a place not over the fence, to where a cache was.
All was good here. Luckily no more flesh was rendered crossing the fence unecessarily, and our jaunt around Mount Cannibal continued.

I have been putting off coming to do the 2 letterboxes in this reserve for a while now and I don't really know why... but never the less today was the day that I was going to finally tick them off the to-do list. Driving down the freeway you could see how empty the hill looks without the foliage burnt away in the 2019 fire season. But upon arriving at the carpark it was a completely different and more uplifting sight, with more abundant regrowth visible.
After finishing the other letterbox I made my way over to this one. With muggles seemingly taking photos around the area I somewhat spooked them and they quickly moved away and made my search a hell of a lot easier. With that done the cache was soon in hand and log book signed. I always enjoy coming up to this park and was happy to have another reason to be here. Anyways thanks for the cache and the walk.

Since Mt Cannibal has been reopened, I have spent a number of visits just enjoying the area and watching the regrowth coming along nicely.
As such, when this cache came back online, I didn't even bother looking at the new projections, I just walked to where I would hide a geocache.
Guess what? I found it and signed the new logbook.
Thanks for the cache ️Dirtbags Downunder️

We're staying in the campground at Bunyip for the week and while M attended to a phone conference he couldn't avoid, I decided to come for a walk and check out Mt Cannibal.
When I reached this area there was a bunch? herd? pack? of teens sitting on a nearby rock but I'm petty sure they were too occupied to take note of where I went.
And wow! what a collection of swag! I really need to start carrying things suitable for swapping.
I *did* take a pathtag since I'm pretty sure I don't need to swap for that.
Thanks for find #1603
Took pathtag, left nothing.

The area is still closed off to the public and National Parks are keeping it closed possible as late as March , a few cachers are in direct contact with the local Parks guys and cannot give us any exact dates
A great area to cache in - quite the adventure.
My sincere apologies for the late log. I have geocaching finds dating back to 2011 in my GSAK database that I am yet to log; amounting to several thousand un-logged finds across the last 9 years.
So, what to do when you find yourself in this administrative caching 'hole' nightmare? Well you seek out a 'personal assistant' (thanks GoodLook), to assist to remedy the situation of course! I thank the CO for accepting my tardy log and for your understanding.
Thank you Team Smokey-Bear for placing this cache.

We all know Smokey Bears like adventures, and well when a Smokey Bear says we're going on an adventure you'd better believe its going to be good one. Chasing a bit of fun and adventure myself tonight I jumped at the chance to come and explore uncharted waters. 1Toolman, tim_amy and the CO himself came along for the ride. What a ride it was and for someone like myself who isn't the fittest it was definitely worth the hike to the top. With magical views looking back over towards the city. My first DGS cache, what a ripper and it certainly won't be my last. Wow this one deserves a favourite point or two.

First dgs cache done and was a nice night walk up the hills although could have done without the wind
Came out here with a muggle friend who I don’t get to see nearly enough. She’s a muggle but has cached with me plenty of times and even helped me put out my Jitterbugs series. We had kept the whole day aside for today’s catch up, so last night I told her I had a road trip planned. She’s always up for a bit of adventure so I knew she’d just get in the car and happily be driven wherever I took her.
As we turned into Garfield Road, muggle friend (MF) looked like she’d seen a ghost. “If we find a dead body today, it wouldn’t be a surprise” she said, as she recalled a couple of psychic readings that had pointed towards her coming across a dead body in a situation and location that fit today’s scenario just a little bit too well. Righty-ho then!
We turned right onto the circuit path and found the trad cache first, before continuing around the circuit, solving the worries of the world and gasping in amazement at the granite outcrops and never-ending views.
When we arrived at the posted coords for this cache (which actually took me over the edge of Big Bertha by the way) we were in absolute awe!! Loads of photos were taken and we sat and had a bite to eat while admiring the stunning views. After we were done with all the Instagram-worthy pics, we turned our attention to finding this cache. I was just going to wing it in terms of the bearing and distance bit and hope for the best, but luckily the CO knew how technologically unsavvy I am and offered some invaluable advice on how to properly use Cachly....advice that I could have reeeaaallllyyyy done with a couple of weeks ago in the pissing rain at the Tim Neville Arboretum!!!!
MF and I were soon hurrying past suspicious piles of fallen logs and tree branches that could have easily hidden a dead body (we couldn’t bring ourselves to peek) and clambering around more giant rocks. The prize was found in another awesome location where MF admired the sparkly spray painted ammo can, remarking that “it’s a lot prettier than those plastic containers!”
This cache is everything I always want in a cache. Easy drive from home, incredible scenery, decent exercise, new adventures, cool photos etc. You name it, it had it.
What a fantastic recharge of the soul. MF absolutely loved our day out as well. Thanks for mentioning this place to me. Never ever heard of it before but I won’t forget it in a hurry. Brilliant. Big fat fave point from me.

The carpark was full and so the tracks were well populated with people getting out and about on this cooler Summer Sunday. It seems like half the people out here were running up and down the steps, whilst the other half had toddlers in toe and were carrying them up the hill. Masochists!
I originally went for the Earthcache but then realised I should have read the cache description earlier No way were we going to go back down and up and collect clues We'll leave that for another time.
Next problem, on this cache: my navigational skills have deterioted since high school. I've been bitten by this before, *heading* or *bearing* or *projection*, are they all the same? It didn't matter in the end. I took a punt at what needed to be done and found the cache without too much trouble. Nice container
Thanks DGS for placing the cache and congrats on the award nomination!

Today after sport my wife asked for a suggestion for a family walk to get a cache. I had had this cache on my watch list for a while. So we packed a few supplies and our L plate son drove us here.
Took the long way up Mt Cannibal via the South Lookout. Half way up the kids started playing on the huge standing stones. Got to the South Lookout but with a couple already sitting there, took a few photos and continued on.
Saw a wallaby walking to the huge rocks on the north side of Mt Cannibal. Got to the huge rock out croppings on the North side. Our oldest son starting exploring the rocks towards the gz, so I started joining him. Saw a likely location to a dirtbag hide and strolled down to it. Scared a huge kangaroo that was hanging out near the gz. Found a likely hide and after a huge jump and climb, found the well hidden cache.
Great location and can certainly see why it was nominated for cache of the year. Personally think it is a very tame DGS cache. But certainly a great introduction to the DGS cache series and hope it gets more visitors.
Thanks for the cache ️Dirtbags Downunder️ and Team Smokey Bear

Travelling down to Gippsland for work and an a little early so I have time to continue my annual rounds of "Geocache of the Year" nominated caches and some worthy choices there are! Also picking up a few other local ones on the way.
35°C and I'm slugging my way up this hill in the heat of the afternoon, f$#k the view I'm almost ready to cark it!
My second time to this mountain and both times the view has been spectacular, great location, congratulations and good luck at the awards

On a journey to find caches nominated for the COTY awards. Getting to GZ was gruelling, so hard on me in fact that my heart rate got as high as 159bpm . We finally made it to GZ but getting the final coordinates was the hard part as husbunny’s compass wasn’t being our friend today (time to invest in a real compass we think). With a little help from a PAF the cache was soon in our hands). Now that my legs are shaking, it’s time for the descent . Thanks for the view, at least that made me smile lol.

Spending a day caching with Melski93, Humanmegawatt and my daughter, we headed to Mt Cannibal to find the 3 caches here. This was by far the most fun, as it required a little bit of technology and also some nice scrambling. Thanks for the cache DGS!
After finding the caches, we returned to the carpark for a traditional DGS post-caching activity.... having a snag in bread!

Out looking for the Earth cashe with Humanmegawatt and Mrdogga. Was a great hide! Fun to retrieve it.
*22/12/17, Found @ 8:16 pm, Find # 7460.*
While out and about searching for caches with biggles1024, this one was found.
I had been wanting to find this one for a little while now but haven't been able to get out here so tonight we went the extra mile and made the journey.
We headed up the trail and then we hit the steps, these steps are so big that they really make you fell so small, I certainly don't remember them being here last time we were in the area.
Anyway we made it to the top, had a bit of a look around at the scenery, did the projection and headed off to GZ.
We were now getting close but there was a big rock in the way, Mark went around but I decided to go over through the gap and I got there first and found the hide.
**Thanks to Team Smokey-Bear for placing this cache.**

**Find #2767**
**Letterbox Cache Find #35**
Tonight, I headed out with Stemicmitsar (Steve) with the goal of finding a night Wherigo and also finding some other caches of interest to us. This was one of our goals and after a hard slog up the hill, we projected the waypoint that is GZ and shortly thereafter, Steve made the find. It's always good to find a good size container and a quality container at that. I'm awarding this cache a favourite point just to annoy the CO. How's that for playing dirty?

Third time lucky! Sort of! I walked right past this location--for the first time ever--shortly before this letterbox was published, while investigating the nearby earthcache. By the time I returned, last month, I had the dubious honour of reporting that it had seemingly grown legs!
Everything went smoothly today however. The projection seemed to be right on the mark, as I found the cache instantly in the first place I looked last time around. It's a great location for a cache. (Kinda surprising really that there wasn't much up here before.) And for nicely executed letterbox type shenanigans. Thanks once more Team Smokey-Bear!

Working at the soon-to-be-open Gumbuya World. Finished early today and so squeezed in a couple of nearby caches while they were within striking distance.
Since I acquired a dirt bag pathtag at a pre-mega meeting, I thought it only right to actually go out a fund one of these darn things.

Ok so it’s been replaced very unlikely that it was muggled by a random person , critter cams gotta lovem
Ammo can seems to be stolen very Dirty Ratbag thing to do will replace with a Nano cause who steals Nanos (Not)
I spent over an hour here circling what I believed had to be GZ, peering into crevices, experimenting with magnetic north, etc, before I received a freak message from an early finder. After a bit of discussion and extensive forensic photo analysis we concluded that I had indeed mostly been standing at GZ for much of the morning. I fear this one might have gone walkabout! Thanks for the rock-hopping good times regardless, Dirtbags Downunder!
10537 and 2nd of 6 found today.
I have been up this hill before for caches while down in the area visiting family. Not sure if I went north or south that time but this time I know I made a bit of a hash of it. Had briefly read the instructions before heading up but then totally forgot about them. It was only as I finished my circumnavigation of the big rock that I realised that I should have been on top of it.... [:o)]
Then the GPSr wouldn't settle so I circumnavigated another rock/s until I spotted the likely hiding spot. Interesting to ponder if I non-cacher would pick something out of place that would be obvious to any cacher.
Loved this one and the experience.
Thanks for the cache Team Smokey-Bear and the sprung chicken.

Where does one start after arriving at gz our phones went flat it came down to the GPS that was being a huge pain then it became geosense skills to locate this beauty of hide. Scaling bolders dodging branches holes getting to gz only to release the pen was back in my jacket so up we went made perfect for some photos on a perfect day placed back where he belongs and set off back down the trail. Thanks for the awesome cache .
What an adventure got to the top what views we got to do our first foot photo my first time getting to the top and completely doing the trail it was worth the effort tftc
Our goal today was to return to Mt Cannibal to visit our first cache find. (A nearby traditional). That done, there were bigger goals to accomplish and views to enjoy. We found a special spot to celebrate our 7 year anniversary of caching, overlooking this amazing view. We were surprised at how many people were taking advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoying this location.
Thanks so much Dirtbags Downunder for placing this cache and making this such a memorable milestone for us. Great cache, great view and a favourite from us. Dropped off a TB too.

Found at 1800.
After a spontaneous choice to climb the mountain for a view of the sunset we arrived to nothing. Not even a speck of pink, a rather large disappointment. This cache was our next best choice. I set off from gz having no idea what to expect, and arrived puzzled. Huh? After scrambling around, Geomum came in and saved the day with her keen eyes. Thanks to De Ja Vu and Bountytrackers for confirming my queries.

What do you do when you're near a reserve and you have 15 minutes for morning tea? You take a gentle stroll and find a cache of course TFTC Dirtbags & TSB.

I actually worked this out from the roadside sitting in the car and rather than take the well used track which was packed with tourists today I made my way along the boundary fence which in theory was a good idea. It saved nearly 300m and saved scrambling over rocks or starting from above the cache. Great theory right and only 500m away. I can be there and back within my break. I'm not going to make out it was hard going but I was pushing myself, there was overgrowth and it was very very steep in parts and within 250m I was puffing. Slowed down, forgot about the time and enjoyed the area. Soon came across a likely zone, looked at the GPS, surveyed the surrounds and did what we cachers do. Asked myself, if I was the CO where would I hide the cache... Yep, and there it was. A quick scramble and the log was signed. Great cache, great location. Thanks

I woke up at the crack of 2 to news of a dinger cache out Whoop Whoop way. I knocked off the dregs of last night's beer that I'd left unfinished on the bedside table before chucking on my favourite thongs and my lucky navy blue singlet - the one with the sauce stains on it. You know, the one I was wearing when I snagged the trifecta about 12 months ago and haven't washed since.
Well, I jumped in the ute and floored it all the way to the mount to see what all the fuss was about. There was a bit of a climb to the top but nothing too serious. There were some young'ns up there ruining the view for everyone else by thinking it was bloody Valentines Day... if they wanted to do that sort of thing, they could have at least done it in the carpark like us normal folk!
Anyhow, I was on a mission...
I darted down to GZ and happened to run into a real suss bloke. I guess it takes a Dirt Bag to know a Dirt Bag! So 1TOOLMAN and I joined forces and smashed out this cache only to discover that Dirty Day had once again been the fastest hunter in the East.
I should've known... lol.
The cache was good. Nearly as good as the first cold beer after a long summer's day on the tools. But it was still darn good.
Thanks to the DGS crew for dragging us out here. I really must remember to bring the esky next time.
