Wow this one took a while. Ended up PAF, but both had found it in different spots. Eventually I spotted a tiny part of the cache and wondered how Id previously missed it. Finally the sneaky thing was in hand and signed. TFTC
Visiting this lovely part of the country from Vic.Our mission for the day is to tick off LGA's in the area. We drove NE from Albany yesterday, stayed at Lake Grace overnight and today heading back S. This round trip will yield 11 LGA's.Took us a while and we were about to give up when the find was made.TFTC SL TB's visited
Today the geocaching plan for Taurus Six and I was to do a run out to the Wheatbelt, firstly to do some maintenance on some of our own cache hides and secondly collect as many as the straggler caches that we have not yet found and some of the new caches since we were last out this way , which is about a year ago. It was cold and drizzly when we left Bunbury and it was like that until nearing Williams. Of course we had to stop at the wonderful Williams Wool Shed for brunch before heading to Narrogin . Unfortunately we broke our tree fishing tool so that limited a few of the cache attempts ,however we did a bit of a circuit before heading down to Wagin and Dumbelyung and then stopping the evening in Katanning ready for more geocaching tomorrow. All in all it was a fabulous drive , with lots of interesting exploring and of course geocaches along the way. The bonus was the wildflowers that are starting to bloom adding to the adventure. This is our twelth cache find of the day along these beautiful back roads of the Wheatbelt. Wow we never knew Lake Dumbleyung was the place of the speed record . Its amazing the places and information you gather through geocaching. We certainly never like magnetic on army artillery , however this one was quite good and found after only a few minutes . Thanks for the cache find Wheatbelt Science .
We didn't know Lake Dumbleyung was where the water speed record was made and even if we did we wouldn't have known where Lake Dumbleyung was. Until today. How good is geocaching for sniffing out great bits of history in unexpected places. We enjoyed looking at the Bluebird, the Interpretive Centre and the sculpture. What talent can achieve with chicken wire is astonishing! TFTC WheatbeltScience.
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 32 - Wickepin to Wagin via Dumbleyung. After a great day around Wickepin, it was time to move on. Once again I crossed a few counties and this took me on some less traveled roads, but today they were all sealed. I enjoyed a look around Dumbleyung and did not realise this was where the Water speed record was set all those years ago. It was great to get out to the lake and see the place. Once I arrived in Wagin, the weather closed in and although I managed to walk into town for dinner, it has been drizzling all evening. In Dumbleyung, I was very happy to see this great replica of the boat used in the speed record. I did not know this was the area used. I was a little disappointed to see where the cache actually was hidden, but after a careful look, this cache that is not too small was found and signed. Thanks for the cache WheatbeltScience47156.8 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Lackey AliKelSea A#511**Albida**
Found this one on our way home to Busselton after travelling from Canberra for capital geo bash 2024
I love the interesting history you stumble across when exploring these small towns. Thank you for bringing me here. My husband found it all very interesting also. Tftc
We headed down to Pingrup to spend some time on the farm, of course we had to collect some caches along the way. What an interesting spot this was, we honestly had no idea. Thanks for brining us here, a favorite point for the lessons we learnt TFTC
Passing through to pick up the last location on the wheatbelt museum AL; I have been here previously but there were too many muggles to look closer; a quiet day and easy find today TFTC
Found during my trip back home to SA after touring the southwest of Western Australia for almost four weeks, including a 5-day visit to Albany. Thanks for the cache WheatBeltScience!
I tried searching for this the other day but with a Gardner working on the gardens close by. I could only search part of it. We came back today and after a short search my partner came up with the cache. The replica is now back on display close by. Thanks for the cache.
GOTCHATraveled from Kulin today and parked up in our caravan behind the pub for the night Took a little while to find TFTC
Getting a few caches while traveling around. This one was a must. Traveling through WA very slowly with muggle friends. Though Id get some caches on the way. TFTC
A nice piece of the history in town here, not a fan of these but you get used to the common hiding spots after a while
In WA for 3 days, so I decided to hire a car and head south from Perth and drive around the wheat belt and back up the coast line. Day 1, I headed from the city out towards lock then south through the back roads all the way down to Albany, collecting LGAs and a few target caches along the way. Once in Albany I found a few caches around the area and the oldest cache in WA. Nearly 750km for the day and 50 finds.
Thanks for the cache

Back out in the Wheatbelt for an extended long weekend, attending the WA Goes Big 10th anniversary event in Narrogin. Hoovered up plenty of new caches in both Narrogin and surrounding districts, and had a great time with fellow cachers. Thanks to West Oz Geocaching for organising another ripper event! Caches signed through the weekend as ‘CC’ (meaning Cockburn Crew) to save space on logbooks. Cheers WheatbeltScience!
Dumbleyung To Kukevin camping in the caravan park overnight
We enjoyed reading all the history of Donald Campbell, its sad that we didn't get to see the replica as it is away for maintenance.
The video in the small museum is also very good telling of the land & water record attempts.
I have tossed about a FP but the final location had no connection to the description, which is disappointing as I'm sure there would have been some where for a cache.
In the end I decided there is so much history here it is worth the FP.
Thankyou to the CO's for placing these caches.

Did a cache day trip from Pingelly. Good one thank you. Pencil needs a sharpen
It is finally time to head back to Victoria after five months away, we will be concentrating on adventure labs, earth caches and virtuals and anything that pops up nearby on the screen.
After being held up in Wandering we are finally got the life of and we're on our way but of course stopping for geocaches when they appear. We're in this area doing the adventure lab around Donald Campbell and it was great to come here and see the replica of the bluebird. As a child I remember all the hype when he broke those records and has been firmly in my head ever since. It was a great area for a cache. We normally don't like them on these things but this was found relatively quickly and our name has been added to the log. Many thanks for bringing us here.

TFTC We really like Cannons. Such an interesting spot and great information that we wouldn't have know about except for this cache.
After spending Saturday at the IGD events in Kulin, I took the long way back home to Perth on Sunday and collected a few new LGAs along the way including this one.
I had been searching for a few minutes when the Cirrus_WA family pulled up and joined me. The kids soon had the cache in hand! This one was nice and close to an Adventure Lab location. Thank you for the cache WheatbeltScience.

Why did the little girl throw the butter out the window?
To see the butterfly.
Pulled in to find papillon367 here already and wandered over to join the search.
Advantage little people here with lots of sets of eyes scouring high Mr T went low and called out found it within seconds, he does have a knack for finding magnets on artillery.
A quick chat about plans for the rest of the day and a play for the kids and we were back on our separate ways.

A much calmer morning today and we all slept in until after sunrise, something novel for my kids as of late.
With the house cleaned up and cars packed we headed back into Kulin for the final event of the weekend and enjoyed catching up with everyone over breakfast.
Our drive home started by heading further away and heading to grab some new LGA’s in Lake Grace, Dumbleyung and Woodanilling.
Stopped of in Wagin for lunch before heading to do the Boddington Lab cache.
The final stretch home I was serenaded by the snores of the geo-twins worn out by a huge weekend away.
Another goof day with 11 finds & 0 DNF’s

Taking the long way back from WAGB 2021 to Perth via our 3 missing LGAs up the middle of the wheatbelt, this was a convenient stopping point, although the less said about the coffee from the roadhouse the better. Our hearts sank when we saw the multitude of surfaces to hide a cache on but Mrs O had her eye in after a weekend's worth of caching and was on to it quickly. Thanks for placing and maintaining these caches, WheatbeltScience!
Working my way down to WAGB21 and collecting a few LGA.s and hopefully a pile of smileys along the way. Thank you to the CO’s for maintaining their caches.
Chwiliwr and I were headed to Albany for the WA Goes Big weekend but not via a direct route. This was one of the caches that we found on the way.
Cache found without problems. Damp log signed and cache returned as found.
Thanks WheatbeltScience for placing this cache for us to find.

Spent a good 20 minutes looking for the little bugger, and wouldn't you know it, it was where I actually looked first! Obviously didn't have my cache-ing eyes on! (Not really surprising as it's been 8 years since I last geocached!)
TFTF!

After an extensive search we needed to PAF before locating this tricky hide.

On a weeks holiday driving around our beautiful state of WA, visiting places we've been to before but being able to spend more time this time around. Stayed at Varley last night and Kukerin tonight grabbing caches along the way
Was meant to look for this one tomorrow as we were passing through town but we ended up here today which was good as I was complaining I wasn't going to have a find for everyday of our holiday, so this one filled in today. Mr dimor made the find here before were went across the road to the CRC and looked at the Bluebird information

Using Narrogin as a base, my young geocaching buddy and I spent a lovely few days exploring the wheatbelt and all the beautiful friendly little towns along the way. After reading all about the history of Donald Campbell and the Bluebird at the lookout, we continued on to Dumbleyung townsite to view the replica. Lots of memories of my younger years hearing about the Bluebird and the world records set. Thanks WheatbeltScience for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Staying in Narrogin for a few days with Gma allinaday. We had a lot of fun exploring the area and all the other little towns along the way. We found some nice historical sites where I learnt a bit about how life was a hundred odd years ago. We explored old buildings and enjoyed some long walks around lakes where I learnt a lot about salinity and what is being done to help reduce the salt on the land so more trees don't die. Thank you to all the cache owners for putting caches out for us to find.
Road tripping the long way from Denmark to Perth to pick up some new LGAs.
I always cringe when I see a hide like this. Thankfully with two of us I put my hand into the right hole and bingo.
We came to Dumbleyung only for this cache and learnt so much.

Thanks for the cache we enjoyed learning about this piece of Dumbleyung history.
Was not looking forward to this but as U was moaning Ulla made a lightning find.
Had a look for this one this morning with no luck. Had a bit more time for a thorough look this afternoon and after a bit of persistence, found what we were looking for. TFTC
