Pretty cool walk into this site. Had the place to ourselves as well. Interesting geology here.TFTEC!
Logged with permission. A short but enjoyable visit to the Red Centre taking in many of the sight and travelling many miles with E_Smiley in search of treasures. It's been over 25 years since I was last here in the Chasm or is that Gorge? Still spectacular.TFTCA fav pt
What an amazing place! The walk to the Chasm was very picturesque and quite calming! The views were spectacular. Thank you for bringing us here! A fav point from us!Answers sent...TFTC TeamThommo
Thanks for placing this very interesting earth cache. We enjoyed the walk as much as the destination. Please refer to tassie expat answers submitted.
Answers sent to CO. frmen1 made the easy walk to the Chasm and were greeted by a spectacular sight. We timed it for high noon and made the most of the few minutes that the sun lit up as much as possible. The sacred pool was lovely too and we were pleased to see that everyone was respecting the area. TFTC and the memories. Fav pt given
While walking the Larapinta Trail, we came to Standley Chasm so was able to log this Earth cache. TFTC. Beautiful area.
Today was my birthday and for it I am doing a big trip from Darwin to Adelaide. This was a stop on the way from Alice to Kings Canyon and the Rocks look beautiful as the morning sun hits them.
With Mrs One-eyed we visited the chasm for heaps of great pics answers were sent 2days ago. 21st April 2024 via Message centre tftc from one-eyed
What an awesome spot, it makes me feel so small and insignificant. I get dizzy looking up to the top! Thank you for the explanation about how this wonder formed. My answers have been sent. Greetings from San Francisco, California and thanks for this EarthCache.
**Permission to Log Approved**Found myself here after going for a swim at Ellery .Was quite surprised that it was a major tourist destinationbus full of people, gift shop, cafe and an admission price. It is $12 for out of towners but I was charged $1 since Im working in town. I did come back and enjoyed a bacon and egg sandwich at 1:30pm while messaging the CO.What a great earthcache.Very pretty landscape isnt it.Thanks Team Thommo.**FP of course**
Together with Bhrenfang I visited the Standley Chasm and we were able to answer the questions. Thanks for this EarthCache and greetings from Germany.
Today we visited the beautiful Standley Chasm and it took us some time to watch at all the beautiful nature. Thanks for this EarthCache and greetings from Germany.
We came here on the Larapinta trail from Jay Creek. Somehow we missed the right path at Angkale junction and so we ended up in the north end of the chasm thinking this was the way to go. With a lot of teamwork we climbed and hiked through the whole chasm despite having heavy backpacks with us. It took us some time, but we made it with dry socks.
Thanks for coming up with this great cache at this fantastic location. I learned a lot!
! Photo will be added soon !

Travelling with iluvtrekking from Perth to Darwin along the west coast and back through the Centre and the Nullabor picking up caches along our route. We visited this chasm a few years ago so today was a revisit to collect the required info. We met an amazing indigenous elder who imparted the story of the chasm to us. Thanks for enticing us back.
Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin along the west coast and back home through the centre and the Nullarbor, and of course picking up caches along our route. This is truly a magnificent location. Thanks for the EC which encouraged our second visit.

As we travelled from Alice Springs to Ormiston Gorge we found some geocaches. This was our fourth one in the West MacDonnell Ranges. That chasm/gap looks amazing and in the morning light makes it even more beautiful. Thanks for setting up this one and as always TFTC, MumDad2000

Even with hindsight we reckon Jay Creek to Standley Chasm was the hardest section of the trail. We were far too exhausted to grab this one on the trudge into camp but the next morning we made time to head up to the chasm proper. The food drop and associated goodies could have played a big role in keeping our spirits up! Another truly magnificent spot in this incredible part of the world.

We decided to come and stay here for the night. The Chasm is quite interesting we spent a bit of time up there to see what difference the sun made.

We visited it at noon - very beautiful
Together with my favorite geocacher Milonguera we traveled to Australia We went to Melbourne via Singapore and from there we explore the south, the center and the east coast.
We walked around Melbourne and had a nice meet & greet event. Than we visited Philip Island with the pinguins and the Great Ocean Road. We fed and petted kangaroos visited the koalas and continued north via Coober Pedy to Alice Springs. We hiked around the impressive Uluru and through the beautiful Kata Tjuta and breathtaking Kings Canyon. The gorges of the Macdonell-Ranges are nice to. Than we traveled north.
Weiter gings Richtung Norden.
**Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for showing the location and for hiding the cache. You should come to Berlin in Germany to find a lot of interesting geocaches, visit lost places in the surrounding Brandenburg and meet nice people at many events.
I wish you a lot of fun and great adventures while searching for the next geocache!**
Thanks for the cache!

We arrived on a rainy afternoon to visit Standley Chasm. The power was out, but we were undeterred and headed down the trail. Pleasant walk and it was overcast, so no sun peeking into the chasm for us. It has been raining and the vegetation was lush, and water was flowing while we walked into the chasm. Arrived in the chasm and made my rough estimates. Later converted them to meters and messaged them to TeamThommo to earn this Earthcache. The trail was eventually blocked by water for us, but we had planned to turn around and walk back the way we came, so no disappointment for us. We enjoyed the visit and this EC, so thanks and a favorite point awarded.

Day 4 of our E2W Larapinta Trail hike, and this was one location we were looking forward to seeing for multiple reasons. As well as looking upon this fantastic geological structure, we were treated to showers, kiosk and lush camping grounds for the first time on our trip. I wandered in off the trail and managed to grab a couple of pics before a bus load of people arrived, but once they left, I enjoyed the serenity of the place before wandering over to the camp ground. Fantastic spot!

I visited this earthcache while out visiting several other sites in the ranges. There was a school group there and I was lucky to get this photo without lots of kids in it

Out with Jacs, she has sent the answers for both of us. Great place, we visited three times in all. Tftc
Popped out to see the Chasm and get the answers for the Earthcache. Lovely place.
At 7:45am a group of student and teachers began their long journey from Melbourne to Alice Springs. The trip took close to 34 hours including stops and a detour to Adelaide airport to swap drivers. Once they finally arrived all were exited for the next days to come.
The next day we visited the desert park and got costumes for dinner the following day. The following day was much more busy. We went to Standly chasm, Ormiston Gorge and Simpsons Gap and I attempted 3 earth caches.
Thanks so much for all the effort you have put into this cache and more telling me more about this amazing area!

Staying in alice Springs for a few days and today was the day for a visit to the West Macdonnell Ranges. Standley Chasm was next on the agenda. Was surprised that you had to pay to enter. When we last visited 25 years ago with the kids, we just parked and wandered up the pathway. Today we were having to dodge workers taking wheelbarrows full of dolomite for the pathways amongst the many many visitors. We helped stomp the dolomite down. Finally arrived at the Chasm and it was still as spectacular as I remembered. Wandered around and made some observations. Took some photos for the kids to test their memories. Made some notes. Sent the answers.

We visited Standley Chasm while doing Larapinta. Amazing spot to walk into from the trail but a bit tough coming up over the ridge. Great colour in the rock and a lovely place to camp at the nearby campsite and grab a lovely burger!

We believe Beavar has sent answers to the CO, so we are logging this EC to keep everything in sequence. We were here on Easter Monday with quite a lot of other holiday makers at around lunch time. #8683 TFTEARTHCACHE TeamThommo - a pretty impressive chasm to wander in.
Loved it here. Worth the walk. Photo of teams beavar and Harrowang. Visited at 12.05pm.
Great spot, we enjoyed our visit on a cloudy day for a souvenir. Answers sent to CO. TFTEC.
Loved this area and walking up the steps to look down on the chasm and meet people coming off the Larapinta trail. TFTC!

Standley Chasm is an amazing place and a very successful tourist destination. I am averse to paying to see this type of feature but this was well worth the money. We really enjoyed the walk into the chasm with all the native plants and the blue cycads. We also had an excellent lunch at the kiosk.

Three weeks on the road for a family holiday to Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon amongst other cool destinations had us traveling all over the place. We had a great time and the weather was extremely hot with bushfires that actually prevented us from going to some destinations.
Today we spent the day exploring Stanley Chasm and Ellery Creek Big Hole. A nice warm day today, and perfect for exploring the Stanley Chasm in the morning and heading to Ellery for a nice refreshing swim in the afternoon.
Thanks for the Earthcache.

Dr Owl is in town for a few days which means I had a go at playing tour guide and a chance to see things in a different light.
After a beautiful breakfast nearby it was time to wander into the Chasm. There was a lot of ohing and ahing along the way. At one spot we watched a lizard jump from a perch and catch flying insects, amazing! Once at the Chasm measurements were taken, finer points were discussed and photo's taken.

Owl and Eagle are in Alice Springs on a train expedition, so collected the temporarily-resident Sushilord and headed west... then east... then south. Fun was had, along with some spectacular scenery and out-of-the-way adventures. Last time Owl was here the road to the Chasm had been washed away by flooding, so it was nice to finally get here.
Thanks for placing an interesting earthcache guys. We do love your work. We sent our answers to the tasks. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Great location.

On a short day trip west of Alice Springs. First we stopped at Simpsons Gap and then Standley Chasm. We enjoyed the walk in, amazed at the formations and the fauna. Once in the Chasm (or is that valley, canyon, gorge, ravine or gap) we stood and waiting for the sun to do its thing. Fortunately there was a very cool breeze blowing through and given the times only a few others to share the experience. And hardly a fly.

Translated with google:
Australia. A beautiful country with a completely different landscape than ours in Germany. The trip was unfortunately too short and we could not see everything we would have liked to see for a long time.
Gorges have always fascinated me, which is why I like to visit canyons. Here we took a short hike through the gorge, which was not so beautiful at first, but was then very impressive and overwhelming. I've never seen anything like it. The madness! A Wallabie also ran into us, which rounded off the walk wonderfully.
After the answers have been sent to the owner, another one laughs with this online log on my geocaching card. Thank you for placing the nice cache and showing the great place.

Australien.

22 days vacation in Australia, a big round trip around the red continent. Adelaide & Kangaroo Island, Darwin & Kakadu National Park & Yellow Waters, Alice Springs & Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Port Douglas & Rainforest & Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island, Blue Mountains, Sydney - what a trip! It's been great, it's been exhausting, it's given us so many impressions of this country that we'll need another few weeks to process all of these.
Of course there were also a lot of geocaches along our track and we tried to find them whenever they were (more or less ) on our path. Due to the amount of places, impressions and geocaches I'm unfortunately able to write a detailled log for each of them, but we appreciated every single one of them.
Thanks TeamThommo for placing and maintaining this cache!

Did this today with the family after a stop at Simpson’s Gap. Lovely walk and a really wonderful place to explore, kids loved it. TFTC, fav point added
As we wander the great land seeing the sights, this is one of the caches we have done.
Today we teamed up with TheDips From America we had a great day.

Forgot to log this visit from last week.......we loved it here and kids enjoyed scrapping around in rocks and building towers with them. The bushfire has marred much of the landscape but chasm is still beautiful.
Komea rotko löytyi täältä. Kylmä tuuli puhalteli, kun rotkossa vietimme aikaa. Tftc.
It was sad to see that some of the trees had been affected by fire. My friends told me stories about how it was pre fire, on the walk in here. Next up, they taught me how to listen to the water using tree trunks! Eventually we made our way to the cache spot, avoiding any poo in our way! Thanks for placing the cache TeamThommo.

Day 3 of our *Red Centre Adventure*... and today we went west from Alice. First stop on our journey was Angkerle Atwatye (Standley Chasm) where we had a pleasant stroll to the end. On our way I collected the information necessary for this Earth Cache.
Thanks **TeamThommo** for another Earth cache... you certainly have quite a few dotted around the country.

I thought it best to do this at midday to see the sunlight come down on both walls. Problem is so dies everything else. Pretty amazing place
Nice to visit this place today and weigh up the chasm/gorge debate- we recently went to Echidna Chasm so to compare the two was fun. Lots of people today. Thanks for the earthcache!
This was day two of our Larapinta Trail hike, starting from the Telegraph Station end. We decided to camp at Standley Chasm as our food drop was nearby. We headed up to the chasm and I grabbed the answers to these questions and a few photos. Answers sent to CO and permission to log given. TFTC TeamThommo!
TFTC! A great spot easily reached from Alice Springs, lovely short walk to the chasm ($12 entry for an adult), also part of the larapinta trail. Best light would definitely be close to the middle of the day, we left our run a bit late.
Logs marked with a Circled "GB's" . Thanks for all the caches an providing fun for us. Answers emailed to CO

The path from the visitor centre/ cafe is now wheelchair accessible all the way to the chasm. On a day tour from Alice so had to get this one. Will email when back to the internet. #1216 TFTC.
During our great roadtrip through Australia we spent a great day out in the West MacDonnell Range and found a lot of caches. This was one of them.
Watch out for the small things! When we estimated the size of the gorge, we found a beautiful dotted grasshopper on its ground, which remembered us to Aboriginal artworks.

I visited this cache together with B.F.Pierce during our wonderful vacation in Australia. We drove four weeks with a camper van through this amazing country from Alice Springs to Sydney. We enjoyed the great people, wildlife and countryside so much. Thank you for the great cache! Best regards from Germany!
Erin1405 and I did a round trip from Alice Springs down South along the coast and ended up in Sydney. We had a marvellous time on this amazing continent viewing a lot of new and beautiful impressions. Of course we searced and found some caches just like that one. Thanks a lot for hiding and many greetings from Germany.
Fantastic after hiking in from over the top via Jay Creek. Cool mornings and hot afternoons plays with the thermoregulation when rocks absorb so much heat. TFTC
Visiting from the US and traveling with a group which makes grabbing caches a challenge at times. Happily I was able to send answers for this one.
Beautiful spot and seen at noon, the perfect time! Thanks to cache owner for the work involved preparing all the information.

Spending a few days in the East and West McDonell Ranges as part of my 6 week trip up here.
The last time I was up here it was 1977, 6 of us pilled in to the Ford sedan towing a trailer camping on a family holiday.
The roads are a lot better now then what I remember of them.
It is great to come back here and the memories keep flooding back as I visit along here.
A nice walk in and of course some more photos.
Thanks Team Thomson TFTEC.

This cache was found on our trip from Adelaide to Alice Springs. The entry fee was $12 each and we thought it was a lot at the time. After entering the park, we joined the local guide, Kevin, who told us a lot about the native flora and the history of the area. The Chasm was spectalular, as was the walk into it. We thought it was well worth it and thorough enjoyed the day. We recommend the walk to the lookout too - it was amazing.
On our way through Australia Clematius and I visited a lot of very interesting places. We spent quite some time on Earthcaches but we found some traditional caches, too. Thanks to all owners for showing unique places and for teaching interesting lessons.
Today ElizaBennet and I went on a day trip to the West MacDonnell Range. What a beautiful landscape. Thanks a lot for showing this spot to TeamThommo.
