Kolour and I organised a long weekend in Canberra to catch up with the great Domsky duo. Of course there was much caching to be done! On our final day we set our sites on some target caches, quite a mix of challenges and oldies.Arriving at the airport for plenty of time to pick up some caches, this one was found quickly. Log signed, all replaced as found. Thanks Nibletricecakes for the cache.
With a free weekend and various geo-events on in Canberra, I decided to go for a trip over there. So today is day #3 of 3. When I woke up, I started the day by deciding that I wouldnt do what I originally had planned and went with another option. Because of this I had a late start to the day, had Bfast and packed up the car ready for the homebound trip. I headed over to the Canberra Airport to finally find the caches around there. Out of the 21 possible finds there, I ended up with 16 of them. Once back to the Ute, I headed over to the Belconnen Mall for some lunch and shopping. Now continuing the trip home, I found some higher D/T caches along the way. Five of them in total. At some point today, I also earned enough points for the next souvenir of the Cosmic Quest. It was finally time for the last part of the drive home. It was a wonderful weekend away and Im glad I got to do it. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTE & TFTCs! Yes it certainly is (just) outside the Penalty Box. Also it was a nice quick find for this cache. Thanks.
Im visiting Canberra from Brisbane with Willis007 for a long weekend with Domsky, targeting mainly oldies and challenges. This is my first time geocaching in the ACT. Domsky was busy today so we hired a car to finish off finding our target caches. Arriving at the airport, we had some time for a few final caches and ALs.A quick find here once the Muggles had gone. Tftc
That was very easy. Quick stop on the way to airport or a lovely dinner at the Vibe. Don't miss this one.
Greetings from Tasmania. I arrived at Canberra airport and stayed for a few days to catch up on a few caches before my Batemans Bay trip for a few weeks. Also, the weather is so beautiful: sunny and not cold. signed the log with good dry... TFTC
Found on May Day after a late flight (as in, the flight was delayed, not that it was particularly late in the day) in for work. A nice idea placing a cache near an airport. TFTC.
Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
Day 6 of mogni and sir_spectre visit the ACT. Today we left the ACT for a time and visited Batesman's Bay as there was an earthcache we both wanted to find. Of course before heading off we visited the Canberra Airport, and grabbed a few smilies. A long day, but great weather for being out and about. As per normal if a cache needed a bit of love, it got it. Many wet and smelly containers were replaced and lots of logsheets added today. Thanks to Nibletricecakes from mogni
Something important to know about the Canberra airport is that it doesnt open until 5am. Airports generally dont close in the United States (Rest? Whats that?!) so it didnt occur to us to check for open hours when we planned to arrive early for our very early flight, only to find the doors locked and nobody homeOf course, I picked up my phone and opened the navigation screen just as HGP asked, hey, is there a geocache nearby? And thats how I went caching at 4am while on my way home from Capital GeoBash. ??Thanks for the hide! Now my joke of a morning has a punchline. ??
Leaving Canberra today after attending the GeoBash mega. After dropping off the rental car and checking my bag in, I wandered over here and made a quick find as per the hint. I left a path tag in the container. I didnt manage to give as many away as Id thought, so have a few left over. Thanks for the cache
Arrived at the airport too early to check in, so it was a caching we went. Was looking in all the wrong places to start off with.
Quick park and grab on my way to drop off the hire car.Been in Canberra for the Capitol GeoBash with Willywombat27 and had a ball. Can't believe how good the weather has been the past 5 days.Canberra certainly has been good to us.
I pulled the lost earring rouse here to ease suspicions while searching for the cache. In an effort to not be late knowing there was an adventure lab & virtual at the airport we wanted to get. Tweety2 & I arrived at the airport 2.5hrs early. Apparently checkin only opens 1.5hrs early so unfortunately that meant we were taking in turns solo caching while the other sat with the luggage. At least we were quite as early as the travellers this morning. Farewell Capital GeoBash, thanks for having us. TFTC!
Found It!A quick find here after finding a free park over the road. Luckily there's not too many people around here on a public holiday!TFTC
Out and about again, headed over to Sydney early in the morning, grabbed a hire car and got some local hides before driving to Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14195, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to Nibletricecakes for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Heaps of challenge caches, hikes for geocaches for all levels of skills and fitness.
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Nibletricecakes! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
Big day of caching with WACrew. We ended up at the event after exhaustion had set in. It was tough jumping between GPS, cachly and about 10 different labs. Theres something to be said for having all lab stages within close proximity. Thanks for your contribution to making today an excellent day. Much appreciated.
Just arrived from Hobart for the Geobash mega (and to visit my son and daughter-in-law) and had a bit of time up my sleeve before picking up my hire car. This was a nice quick find at GZ.
Day 3 of my Canberra Mega adventure. Out caching with the members of the WA6 crew. The day looks to another sunny day. Very happy to claim a smiley here . WA6 crew - Geotrakka, meme28, burns345, Neva2old, I c nothing and CirrusSome logs signed as N2O or WA6This is my 12652 find Thankyou Nibletricecakesfor placing and maintaining this cache.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA5.
Walking around waiting for our ride from the airport and made our way here as a meeting point and managed to collect the quick find at GZ.This makes state 3/4 of finds so far today. Thanks Nibletricecakes for placing Outside The Penalty Box for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 10:29 on 27/3/2024.This is find number 8248 for me.
Day 2 camped at Canberra Park for the Mega EventThis morning doing some caches along the CBR series with the Snakepitters.A great morning out, it was good to have a driver that knew his way around the area.We did a variety of cache types, finishing the day at an event by the lake.Signed log as DIMERS. (DiMorgan/Snakepitters)Thanks for placing this cache Nibletricecakes
Arriving early from WA for the GeoBash Mega, I caught up with Burns345 and geotrakka after a red eye flight to start caching Canberra. Cache found with no issues. Cheers
Very excited to be here for my first Mega event from WA. Started early this morning to pick up meme28 and burns345 from the airport. They hit the ground running from an overnight flight straight out caching. My personal aim is to try and boost my numbers to hit my next milestone whilst here. Many thanks Nibletricecakes for placing this hide for me to find and adding to my adventures. This will be my 7857 find.
Found this one after a trip from Melbourne back home..Nice quick find while stopping to get the car.TFTC!
A quick find while stopping by Canberra airport this afternoon. All was pretty quiet there ... lots have locals have obviously already flown elsewhere for Christmas because the carparks are pretty full. Thanks for the hide.
Quick and easy find today, makes a difference when its actually there to find! Thanks for the cache
On a quick trip to Canberra, this was a quick find while waiting for the flight home.
Found the cache nicely hidden away as per the hint. Goodbye Canberra, its time to go south again.
The hint was too easy but Im lowkey thankful because I had to make that 10 minute free airport parking
Cache not found on the first visit. A second visit and the cache had returned from the other dimension where it had been hiding.

Found one the way back to Brisbane, early in the morning. No one around today. Thanks for the cache.
Found this morning with arewethere? and greatjustgreat. Thanks very much for this cache
Had an early morning flight and we’re staying at the airport, so on the way I had a couple of helpers to locate this one. Now this wasn’t the first attempt at this cache. Had been here on a previous visit and tried in the dim light yesterday evening, but this morning it was finally found.
I found this morning along with greatjustgreat and Notquiteyet. Thanks very much for the cache placement for our enjoyment. The cache logbook is all good, as is the provided pencil. Cheers

With tonight's ride home getting ever closer, this was a chance to find a farewell ACT cache for this trip. I strolled over from the servo and once at GZ, a squiz at the hint soon had me signing the log at 16:15 and it was off to check in.

Logging a little nemesis - yay. I work very close by and once a long time back I had some out and found the cache but didn't have a pen. So knowing where it was I thought it may be useful to keep for one of those caching dates I needed but rarely had time for. Of course on the date I then re-tried back in December 2021 the cache was offline and missing. So I had found it but not signed when it was there but then once I had come out to sign it wasn't there. Re-parked it and finally came out with Takibi today with the intention to make the find. After all that ashamed to say I missed it initially and Takibi made the find before me - so very happy to sign this off as found and with a signature in the log finally!
we looked around for quite a bit but eventually found it, definitely a case of overthinking
Do not know how this eluded me last time haha. It was a simple find coming back from holidays. Thanks for the cache!
Nice quick find, container was bigger than expected on the basis of previous comments.

Was heading to QBN to get my caching fix, but had to change plans and so ScoutKoalaBear and I made it to the airport. I had looked for this previously without success. I was happy to find it straight away this time.

This was found very easily with that hint. I was glad to have some time here at the airport before flying home to Germany via Melbourne and Dubai to visit this cache and the Virtual cache at the airport.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
