Out today with my walking group this month is from Rose Bay to Watsons Bay. We stopped to see what changes have occurred since been here last. Its a really pity the fence is still up and it appears be a while yet before its all completed . I recall coming here regularly as a child in the 60s lots has changed. While doing a selfie this little fellow appeared >TFTV Der Eifelaner answers on the way
Pity this beach was closed, because it's an amazing place! Great views from here, but nicely tucked away and quiet.

TFTC? Not sure if I am allowed to post this since the beach closed and I can only see a glimpse of the rock.but thanks for showing me a cool place nonetheless:)
Came to visit Neilson Park which I have been to several times over the years. The beach has been closed for a very long time as massive consturcion work is still underway. Thanks De Efelaner for another Earthcache find close to home.
When i was walking down the steps to here the construction guys had the Beatles blaring. It was epic.I actually stood around quite a while, listening to the tunes while searching out what weathering I could find.Thankfully there's a plethora around the area, which is stunning!Thank you for creating an earthcache here and teaching me about it too!
I was unable to access this area. Answers have been sent in. Permission to log was received.
Could Not Go the the very final GZ because of constructions. But even though it was worth going there. Thanks.
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 12702.
Cool little spot, there is a lot of work going on here at the moment but I managed to squeeze along the fence and stay outside the excluded area. Our answers have been sent via the message centre.
Thanks Der Eifelaner for the cache.

Nalezeno společně s Radoshordos během měsíčního výletu do Malajsie, Singapuru, Bruneje a Austrálie, kde byla hlavním cílem celého výletu Tasmánie. Singapore se zároveň stává mojí 39. navštívenou zemí a Austrálie mojí 40. navštívenou zemí.
Keš jsem našel během chvilky společně s Radoshordos. Děkuji za přivedení na další zajímavé místo a za další bod do sbírky.
Zdravím z České republiky.
Found it during a one-month trip together with Radoshordos to Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Australia, where Tasmania's was main destination of the whole vacation. Singapore is also becoming my 39th visited country and Australia my 40th visited country.
I found the cash in a moment with Radoshordos. Thank you for bringing me to another interesting place and for the next point to the collection. Greetings from the Czech Republic.

Sadly this beach is still under construction. I note that the original due for completion in December 2022 signs have now been updated to be completed April 2023- pretty big delay there. I feel sorry for the nearby restaurant missing this beautiful summer weather and the crowds that go with it especially with such a tough last couple of years with covid and the rain. We will be back one day to see the finished product and pick up these 2 earth caches when you can actually access them.
I love honeycomb but my perfect chocolate bar would be Cadbury choc with the violent crumple honeycomb.
Sometimes I can’t decide which one. I love the texture of honeycomb especially because it is an interesting hurting/sensation to eat. It explains why I love the chalky texture of clinkers and Lolly bananas. And don’t even get me started on sherbet that’s another big favourite. Anything that’s out of the ordinary I tend to love it.
Now let’s talk about chemical erosion! I’ll have no teeth left with all this candy… answers sent to CO. Nice beach undergoing maintenance

Had to drop some family at the airport so took the opportunity to do a few caches in the Eastern Suburbs after the formalities. Spent most of the day dodging rain showers, but found some great caches.
GZ is affected by its own weathering at the moment. Thankfully I was able to get close enough to get some answers as the rain thundered down. Logging with permission

We had a nice Saturday afternoon walk at Nielson Park but ran into a few obstacles. The beach is closed while repairs are being done to the sea wall. But we were able to get close enough to GZ to provide responses to the CO’s questions. Very interesting. And the works at the beach are interesting too. We headed up to the headland to check out the gun emplacements and that was another interesting thing. What a day! TFTEC Cheers… Gaztek
Had a great time exploring Shark bay on a great day. Was very surprised by the luxorious toilets nearby! Also lucky with the water conditions, last week would have been a challenge!

I walked across the beach in the early morning hours, watching people of retired age, swimming behind the shark net, in the warm salt water.
I wore a t-shirt, grey slacks, a hat and hiking boots. Perfect for a day at the beach. I walked from one end to the other, across the sand and up to the huge rocks that looked like blocks spilled from a child's toy box. The surface was interesting and reminded me of limestone weathering, that I'm familiar with back home.
I took some pictures and studied the rocks before leaving the beach.
Thanks for the find.

We walked the coastal path from Rose Bay to Watsons Bay on "Armageddon Day", where visibilty was down to 200m due to the thick smoke from the horrific NSW bushfires. Certainly an experience walking with a face mask!
Took a break at this EC and gathered all the info required.
Loved the beach but will have to return another time to see the city views.

Spent the day after work exploring Neilson Park doing the two earthcaches in the area. It was a real nice walk along the rocks from here up to Vaucluse Point and back.
Thanks for getting me to stop and admire the geology behind what makes this area so beautiful. Sydney truely is an amazing city

We stayed there and try to answered the questions. Suddenly we heard our nativ language. This is a nice place and in Germany we call this “Wabenverwitterung”. Thank you for showing us this place.
Nice stop along the coast between Rose and Watson's Bays. Thanks for having us stop here and enjoying the beach and surrounding areas. Wonderful that this is still natural!
Short walk along the beach on a summers day, a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately to many clothed people so continued to the nude beach at Watsons bay. I had aways wondered how these formations where formed. Wonder how much water soaks through what is quite hard rock these days.
Thanks for the earth cache.

We live in a beautiful city, pity about all the people. Better snag a cache while we're down in this special beach
TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
I came over to Nielson Park to visit a place of my yesteryears and have a look at the weathering along the beachfront.
It's with both happiness and sadness that I remembered this spot. When my grandparents were alive they all lived within walking distance of Nielson Park so we were often here as my parents had been in their young days, but sadly once my grandparents had all passed away we never came back to this side of the harbour.
I did come here with my father for lunch one day a few years ago to reminisce about the exploits of his younger days.
I also came here with a dear friend to celebrate her 50th birthday. She organised a wonderful brunch in the cafe with half a dozen friends. It was a lovely morning. Sadly she developed a blood disease not long after and has gone too.
Funny thing I don't ever remember coming along to this end of the beach and looking at the unusual rocks although I remember swimming here and the wonderful views.
It's funny, we learnt about honeycomb weathering in geology at high school but now those theories are incorrect as they now know so much more about how our amazing planet has been formed.
Thanks for bringing me back here. I've enjoyed the memories and learning (or is that relearning) about sandstone weathering!

Over the past months I have helped raising funds for Can4Cancer. The final event was for a few hundred volunteers to do a 21km Can4Cancer walk from Watsons Bay back to Darling Harbour, following the coast line as much as possible. The weather was great, along the route there were great views over the harbour city so it turned out to be a great day!
Our team consisted of 6 persons, one of whom was also familiair with geocaching. After explaining geocaching to the other people in my group, I could take a few moments for stopping and finding a few caches along our route.
The second cache for the dayy was at Vaucluse Bay, with some weathered rocks which can be found at many more places in and around Sydney. The answers were collected and emailed.

After finding my 10,000th geocache nearby, steeba and I headed out and about around the South Head and Vaucluse area to find some other caches. A great morning despite the odd rain shower, just over 20 traditional finds, with a few Earth Caches and a Virtual thrown in for good measure.
Steeba cannot drive by an Earthcache, and so on our explore this morning we made the time to come here and answer the required questions. This is truly a fine example of this type of weathering! Questoins answered, photos taken, and on to the next.
Thanks to all of the cache hiders for their efforts in placing and maintaining their hides. It was fantastic exploring this part of the world that I seldom get to.
Cheers

TaurusSix and I visited this location. We had to sit nearby and wait a while as there were muggles settled at GZ. This time was not wasted. Email sent.
Today we headed over to the Eastern Suburbs, taking advantage of the cheap Sunday $2.60 per head capped Opal Card fares, to do the 14 odd kilometre walk from Watsons Bay to Rose bay and to visit the two EarthCaches located at Nielson Park along the way. Caught one of the new Northern Beaches B-Line buses to the city, then a ferry to Watsons Bay. The return journey was via a ferry from Rose Bay to the city, then a Manly ferry and bus back home. This was the 3rd of 4 finds, and 1 DNF, for the day.
After completing the nearby EarthCache "GC254AK Sydney Harbour (Port Jackson) EarthCache" we strolled the short distance along the beach to this second EarthCache. The beach and surrounds were looking magnificent under today's cloudless skies, as we approached GZ and set about examining the honeycomb rock. The questions were pondered & answered, and a group photo was snapped, all of which were sent to the CO and have now been approved for logging.
This really is a very beautiful part of Sydney, and we always believed that the wind was the culprit, so we had a good learning experience as well. Favourite Point awarded. TFTEC der Eifelaner.

Long weekend of earth-caching. Visited so many lovely spots that I would have probably missed otherwise. Interesting background notes and answers messaged to CO. TFTC
Not an easy spot to reach by public transport but the park and Shark Beach were well-worth the effort & the visit. The rock was most interesting to study, and no one at GZ, which is always a bonus . A good experience and geology lesson. Answers were sent and permission to log received by return, super efficiency!
Thank you der Eifelaner for creating this earthcache, which deserves a favourite point (when I have a spare one..).

15/9/17. 12:20 PM. Cache #5295.
2nd of 4.2 finds today - Bondi Beach, Vaucluse, Balmain East, Leichhardt & Drummoyne (ish)
On the weekend, I was clearing my unfound caches from Sydney's eastern suburbs, but ran out of time to get to the two recent earthcaches that popped up. Today, after I'd finished my deliveries, seemed as good a chance as any, and such a nice day to head for the coast.
I started with "Potholes at Bondi Beach" first, and once I felt I had worked out enough for that one, I headed here next. From Wentworth Rd, I followed the path through Nielsen Park to Shark Bay. Once at GZ, I could see the dominant pieces of sandstone sticking out, with very obvious amounts of honeycomb throughout. There were plenty of muggles enjoying the sunny weather and either enjoying the shade of these rocks or sunbaking nearby. So, I had to be discreet in both my examination of the rocks and my photographing of anything.
Once I had decided that I had worked out enough to be able to answer the questions, I decided I could keep moving on. The next cache I went to was not a full find (hence the 4.2 finds today) as I went off to find the first waypoint only of "Building Bridges to Pittsburgh".
The CO has reviewed my answers and allowed me to claim this find. For bringing me back to this gorgeous location, where I haven't been for ages, I am awarding a fave point for sure. TFTEC!

This is one of my favourite beaches in Sydney and I visit here regularly in the summer months.
The water looked beautiful today but still too cold for me to swim.
I arrived at GZ and whilst geology and understanding the formation of rocks is not my strong point, I enjoyed observing the honeycomb and reading the cache description to figure out what was happening here.
I took a few photos (one of me at GZ attached) and enjoyed the sunshine for a while before heading home.

Not quite swimming weather, but the sun was shining and there was a relatively new Earthcache in town, so the hunt was on.
Thank you der Eifelaner for this interesting exercise. I've done quite a lot of earthcaches now, but learnt some new things from this one. - Third to Find - and in some good company!!! Hi Ev and Bella!!!
I've sent my answers.
(A gentleman was trying discreetly to change out of his wet swimmers a few metres away, and looked at me with consternation when I pulled out a tape measure.. haha.... and then started jotting down notes... )

This looks like really cool geology. Too bad didnt know about it when I was here a few weeks ago so adding to the list for when I am back here
We saw the new publishing as as one appointment was finishing we decided to detour over despite some light rain. We arrived at a familiar spot having done the other earth cache at the other end of the beach some time ago. We made our way to GZ and soon formulated our answers. Some interesting features.

Always nice to find a new cache in Sydneys Eastern Suburbs near the beautiful beaches and Sydney Harbour. This Earthcache at Neilson Park took me to one of my favourite places with an awesome view all the way up the Harbour to the city and Harbour Bridge. In summer it is nice to come here for a swim and a picnic. OK to be 2TF after B@W FTF. I give this Earthcache a Favourite Point. TFTEC der Eifelaner

While traveling throughout Australia, one of my fellow travel companions (der Eifelaner) was always on the lookout for some new locations, suitable for an interesting Earth Cache.
And of course, he was successful - and we could be part in the creation of a new Cache.
When going to this location we still had our rental car and could easily move around Sydney before having to drop it at the airport later that day.
We arrived at this location relatively early in the morning so there were not so many people around.
I think it will always amaze me, how fast der Eifelaner is able to detect new possible Earth Cache locations. But I guess when you're so interested in the matter, you just have an eye for it.
A few days later after visiting Shark Beach, I was also able to have a look at it from the ferry (from a distance).
Thanks for the Cache!

+++ BETA TEST +++
During our vacations in Australia as GAF-17, we were always looking for interesting spots.
Because we did a lot of Earth Caches in this time.
Especially der Eifelaner did this kind of caches as his favorite, so he is always looking for interesting places, where he can develop a new Earth Cache.
When we are in Nelson Park, he found what he was looking for.
Thank you for developping the interessting listing and the informations about
the signs of weathering.
