found today while visiting the area mainly for bridge but also to catch up with family from this part of the country. A lovely day for a walk in an area I had not visited before. Funny enough I meet up with another geocacher with the same idea. Worked well as we found all the caches we looked for along this trail. Some took longer than others, Thanks to Kiwi864 for placing and maintaining the caches along here. Will be back on a bike on day to pick up some more
I thought this one might have been going to take a while so was pleasantly surprised when I managed to spot something a little different and voila - there was the cache. TFTC # 20,717
Found with NZDi. In mid-October we were down this way in our caravan, when there was a red wind warning of 150kph winds. They weren't wrong and the front stone guard which protects the window in our caravan got ripped off in a gust. On Thursday we came down this way again so that the insurance repair could be done to our caravan. We stayed at the Weedons NZMCA Park overnight so we could get the caravan to the service centre as soon as they opened yesterday morning, then did some Christmas shopping and caching while we waited for the repair to be completed. Today, instead of going home we decided to stay an extra night and do a bit of caching around McLean's Island Recreational Area. This was the fifth find of the day and was another QEF as per the hint. This was to be our last find out here but we did some more caching in Rolleston later on in the day. All up walked did 6.4km to get these five and decided next time we returned, we would bring our bikes.TFTC Kiwi864
Found after my 3rd try here! GPS led me the right direction and spotted instantly!
Took us a while to find, not much service so glitching out but a comment said six meters off really helped TFTC

I was about ready to give up on this one. You know that game - "Is it the cache or yet another piece of trash under this rock" - well, you can play that for hours here.
And with the hint being more of a laugh in the face rather than a helpful aide in locating the cache, it wasn't looking too hopeful.
But persistence paid off.
If it is of help to anyone, my coords were about 6m off.

Kia ora! Paldies!
Thanks for the cache, Kiwi864!

Nice quick find out on the bike today, it's a shame people think it's alright to dump all there rubbish in places like this. TFTC
I was getting ready to quit when Kozjah spotted it. Had a long search and the cache was hidden by overgrowth.
After finding the cache went for a wee paddle in the river. Gosh it stunk near GZ, there was something dead nearby. Luckily GA was upwind.
After farewelling my brother in ChCh yesterday I was planning on a 2 day trip to Methven to spend time with family. This was a wee walk along stopbanks, tracks and gravel roads that I managed before hitting the road south.
A car was parked at GZ that I had to wait for it to leave before scrambling around all the hint objects. Bit grotty with rubbish lying around.

Kama reprints log helped. When I saw the posts I thought ok this is going to be hard. When I arrived yep even harder. Found as in Shore shank a rock out of place and then success. Thanks.
Took a bit of hunting! Luckily nice and dry when hunting. GPS was very helpful! Left a mushroom fairy rock.
Struggled with this one, and spent a good 10-15 minutes here before I found the correct one. TFTC.
The second part of the morning was hunting down these caches along the southern bank of the Waimakariri river. I parked up at the car park just off the access road and used a couple of there-and-back trips on the bike to get them. I can see another access point much further down so will be back another time soon to get the last of them.
No issues, all found. Thanks for placing and maintaining all these caches Kiwi864.

I wasn't able to get many caches today as I was on an organised walk with the Breeze Walking Festival. Quickly found this one as one of my fellow walkers wanted to know more about geocaching.
Last one for the day and I'll come back and hit the rest.
Off on the new geocycle so get a few caches, what a great day, a couple of DNFs but all in all a good day to head out and blow the cobwebs away and enjoy the outdoors, Thank you for placing and maintaining the cache/s (copy and past logs coming) 2 hours of good wholesome fun. TNLN used the Mr Cuddly Brick Stamp

This took some time given the field of rocks; we spent some time searching. And there was the added problem of a muggle sitting in a van nearby. Cache spotted just as the muggle drove off. TFTC
We drove over this morning in search of some caches for the latest Mystery at the Museum souvenir hunt. Of course we didnt know that you could drive right up to GZ so parked in the carpark and walked through from there and then sighed as soon as we saw GZ. Once we followed the GPS to one specific area to search it was as bad as we first thought. We were glad for the gumboots as it had started spitting again and by now the long grass was wet. This find gave us our first Ruby for 3/15 jewels collected. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.
Heart sink when I saw all the hint objects but GZ was true and pretty quick find. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent (signed TB on micros). Find # 2133
Found this one on a nice day geocaching with Tairainium. Had to be stealthy with a nearby muggle. TFTC.
Another really cool cache found with Cedsta! Really enjoyed that findwatch out for muggles
We decided to spend part of the day trying to complete the Waimakariri River series with Rodney biking and Iris providing moral support! We started from the Haul Road end this time, having put off yesterday's attempt because of the predicted 30+ degree temperatures! This was the first of three DNFs today. The GPS was jumping around, there were too many hint objects, and the river today was in full flood - bank to bank and about to overflow into GZ!! Decided to give up before getting wet feet!! Thanks for the cache hide and the exercise anyway - we will return. Rodney and Iris.
Where the river went, I go.....
Had to do a but of bushbashing here as some killjoy has blocked the track off.
cheers and thanks,
S.t.

My son and I enjoyed taking the least easy path to this one driving through the big puddles and ruts to within metres of the cache. Shame to see people have used this area as a rubbish dump but at least the cache was far enough away to make for a pleasant find. Thanks Kiwi864.
The planets, stars and weather were all aligned so my caching buddy Bbear could go on a geocaching bike ride. Yay Your series was the reason for us being in this area.

Last one of the day for me. Thanks very much for planning and placing this series of caches, it's provided several days of adventuring and caching for me! Tftc!
The junior Baird's could not resist the urge to throw stones in the river so were no help. A beautiful day and we haven't seen anyone else on the track. We are having a great day. What a shame there is so much rubbish at GZ
You see a heap of hint objecs and your heart sinks! However, no problems locating this one. TFTH
We took the opportunity to sit in the sun and have a snack before getting back on our bikes. TFTC Kiwi864

This series of caches has been growing steadily over the last year so it's about time I got A into G and found a few of them. Today I needed to find 9 caches for stats purposes and so after attending the event at the Antarctic Centre cafe, StreetWalker and I headed this way.
After not finding the last cache searched for, it was a loooong walk back to the road (and car). Luckily we could drive to this cache as I was feeling a bit weary by now. As SW had recently found the cache, it was a quick find with his help.Time to head home for a coffee .
Thanks for the pleasant walk on a non-rainy day, Kiwi864. Looking forward to some more in the series. TFTC.

#15612. After a lengthy search at the previous cache, I was keen for a speedier find here. It wasn't an instant find, but it wasn't too long before I spotted a likely-looking covering object. TFTC.
This was cool. Quick raid on some of the series of caches in the area for a school holiday wander. Probably attacked this from slightly the wrong direction, but scored a find no worries at all. Great series.
Greetings from Tauranga. Enjoying our stay in Christchurch and gathering a few smileys as we go. A great find. Cache is all good. TFTC
I'm not logging a DNF - just a Did Not Try. Foiled by a muggle sitting in his car, apparently with nowhere to be. I'll be back!
A great line of caches on the map so we brought our bikes and cruised along between caches on a nice sunny and warm afternoon. Cache found and on to the next. TFTC
Something dead here slowed down the sear hung. Finally found this elusive cache (Under a rock of course) then dropped my pen in the long grass!!! Found and signed. Thanks for the placement kiwi864
Time to visit the river! The GPS was a bit off, leading me further and further from the road. Whoops, lookie at that, back up I go. Cheers
On a waitangi day mission to the big city to get some numbers . have set myself a target of 5000 finds by the end of the year ,thats an average of 106 a month so a few more road trips on the cards luckily the rain has stopped nice quick find tftc
Out for a Waitangi Day wander to get the last 6 in this area. Waited ages last year while a muggle was at Gz, so today was a good chance to get it. Nobody in sight! Tftc
Down in Christchurch for a week, another day out caching with 2wombles. This time out for a bike ride and get the caches in this series. Thanks Kiwi864 for the cache
With my in-laws visiting for the week, it was an easy decision to head out for some caches with my father-in-law Popmac. We decided to head out for a bike ride and get the caches in this series.
This cache was a quick find today. Thanks for the cache.
