Answers sent to the cache owner for review and approval. Nice area.Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Woden's day the sixteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. Out on my own getting some fresh air. Never been to this park before and really enjoyed it. Sent answers to Co. Thanks for bringing me here amandaberries
Had 1/2 hour between jobs so gathered the info required and sent to Co Thanks for the unexpected cemetery in the middle of the beautiful park. Thanks for the virtual.
I never got around to doing this virtual when I was here for the multi for some reason. Trying to catch up on some logs. I returned here last month and then realised I had missed collecting the number on the pole so returned again in the dark a couple of weeks ago. Answers have been sent to the CO. Thanks to the original cache owner and amandaberries for taking over the placement.
In the area for a different geolocation game, and decided to take a little time to explore this fascinating cemetery. I've never seen a cemetery just in a public park like this! The clues were quickly gathered, and provide an interesting insight into the history of the area. Including the sad and short lives of some children in the past. Thanks for bringing me here.
This is a fun cache, and quite an interesting place to learn a little bit of local history!!The waypoints are all spot on, and the questions pretty easy to answer when youre in the right place. Thanks Amanda for putting it together!Luke & Hugo
**29/03/2024, 12:15:00****Find #5731****Virtual Find #65****Logged Pending Permission**I was now on my way home after a successful trip to Herring Island with SteMicMitSar. I'd been wanting to do this Virtual for quite some time but was never in the area. The entire area was nice and quiet on this Good Friday. I enjoyed a very pleasant walk around the cemetery in the autumn sun and collected answers to all the questions which I have now forwarded to the CO.**Thank-you to amandaberries for placing this geocache**
My muggle friend and her sweet hubby entertained me royally last night so I slept like a log. We headed out this morning to find a few caches. I love cemetery caches of any kind and this one was no exception. I was worried that we wouldn't find all the answers, but my friend is really good at spotting little details, so we got what we needed. I sent the answers to the CO who answered quickly. Apparently, she has just recently introduced a friend of hers to geocaching, as well. I love that. Thank you for the smiley and the fun! The day:Today I continued my month long journey from the U.S. along the east coast of Australia!! The muggle friend I made 6 years ago in Greece who hosted me for my two days in Melbourne took great care of me AND enjoyed getting a few caches with me. We ended the adventure at a lovely winery and then went back to her place for a fabulous duck dinner. I was thoroughly spoiled. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. FP
No issues collecting the info for this virtual. A nice day for a wander around the cemetery/park, if perhaps a little warm - enough to work up a bit of a sweat. Virtual waypoints have been chosen well to highlight some Melburnian history that was new to us, so thanks for that. Answers have been sent via message centre. Cheers for the virtual --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega. Thanks for the cache
Found It..............We had a need to head down to the "Big Smoke" today to pickup some car parts and some other bits and pieces. While planning the route it was noted that there was a couple of caches right near where we needed to go to, After parking the Geo Truck we started to wander the area collecting the information as we went and after a while we had all the required info. Thanks amandaberries for the cache we have sent the answers. P.S. we are giving it a Fav point
We certainly didn't expect to see such an unusual cemetery here. It was covered in beautiful purple and white wildflowers and was so tranquil, except for the deafening cicadas!! Thanks for this lovely cache (Sir J-Oz/amandaberries)
What a fabulous little tour of an area I would have never visited if not for a recommendation from a (non caching) family member. Greetings from Vancouver, Canada! Answers sent.Thank you amandaberries for the cache.
I drive passed this cemetery several times a week, but haven't yet had the time to stop and complete the virtual. Today was the day. Certainly a lovely cemetery to wander through, unfortunately not quite enough time to have a good look at the gravestones and further history. Maybe another day for that.

I really enjoyed walking around this old cemetery collecting the required answers. Even though it was a tad wet. Answers sent. Thank you amandaberries for bringing us to Oakleigh Pioneer Memorial Park today.
After a successful CITO, CracknLeeLee and I teamed up to visit this cemetery and complete the Virtual in the drizzling rain. What’s great cemetery, love anything to do with them so it was nice to visit. Had a problem with one headstone being illegible but not sure if it was because it was wet. Answers sent to CO, Thanks amandaberries for this interesting Virtual and for contributing to this great game for others to enjoy. Happy trails, Deanside
On this side of town today to attend a Cachemas in July Breakfast and CITO. Couldn't pass a virtual not too far away.
A unique little spot. Completed the cache with deanside.

Chose a rainy Saturday arvo to avoid muggles, but in reality you just be a gravestone nerd looking for these. Thanks for filling in a dull wet arvo with some very interesting stuff. TFTC

I’ve driven by this cemetery many times and have been meaning to stop by and have a look .. it is an amazing place, so much history here. It was also the location of two caches which celebrated the significance of the area. I enjoyed discovering each of the waypoints and learning a little more about the early pioneers in the area. .. a big thank you to SirJ-Oz who recognised the importance of this place and created the virtual to share the history of the area with others and also to amandaberries for adopting this cache and keeping it in play
A foggy morning but time to kill waiting for a bus made this a tempting virtual.
Got slightly doggy feet but very happy to have had a wander in this peaceful little park I would never have found otherwise.
Thanks for maintaining the cache Amandaberries.

Thanks for a very enjoyable amble around the memorial park. Found a headstone with same surname as me, but am not sure if the gentleman was a relative. TFTC and for adopting this cache.
A lovely afternoon for a walk in the park. Took moving away for us to get this, but back in the neighbourhood meant I was determined to knock it off the list. Sad to hear of SirJ-Oz’s passing, thanks for keeping this alive. Answers sent to CO.
I had a delightful few hours exploring this park and doing both the Multi and Virtual caches here. Knowing the Virtual was originally one of SirJOz’s caches added to the poignancy of the caches. The few caches I have done of his have been memorable for many reasons and this was no different. I only met him once, at the Whittlesea Mega last November and I, like most geocachers who had come into contact with him one way or another, will miss the anticipation of a new cache from him. It is wonderful that his caches are being kept alive for as long as possible.
iTEEM were in Oakleigh today for an Escape Room, and I managed to convince two other team members to brave the cold afterwards and complete the multi and this virtual in the memorial park. A very interesting tour of the park, with spot on coordinates for all way points making the information straightforward to find.
Grateful to SirJ-Oz for creating this virtual, and to amandaberries for keeping it in play.

I like visiting pioneer cemeteries as there is often so much history and so many sad stories there. I appreciate the history provided in the description and enjoyed the walk around this Pioneer Memorial Park.
Oakleigh Pioneer Memorial Park was transferred from SirJ-Oz to user amandaberries
Love old cemetery caches. We also found someone with the same very unusual surname. I will have to do a bit of genealogical research on him. tftc
Heading out to this one today and was just reading the last log, absolutely gobsmacked and saddened by the news, very great full for SirJ-Oz’s contribution to the game, he will be missed.

Although I have found practically all of SirJ-Oz’s 17 active caches, I feel compelled to revisit as many as I can and pay my respects. I am calling this a pilgrimage of the Knights Templar in honour of the brave Sir Knight himself.
This was my first re-find. I enjoyed the walk in the sunshine and the pondering of times past!

Wandered around this cool historic cemetery whilst doing the nearby multi also...

I visited this delightful area a couple of days ago and had an enjoyable wander to collect the required information. Yesterday i sent the answers and today i can log with permission. Lovely!
Work arranged itself rather nicely this week giving me a period of six days off. I spent a bit of time working out which direction i wanted to head for caching fun and decided to have another go at Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. I then took quite a while coming up with a list of caches to target, there are just so many possibilities! I packed, had accommodation sorted, and even had a muggle caching buddy lined up to do the driving. Perfect!
Too perfect... . Plans changed at the last minute and i went down to the city solo and without the accommodation option. I wasnt sure if i would keep the rest of the plan or head for the hills instead. I ended up heading home on the morning of the fifth day. I had somehow managed to hurt my back and it just kept getting worse as i went on. A bit of a fraught trip but i still loved it.

After finishing a work Xmas lunch, I had some time free to go geocaching. Selected this area because of the Virtual Cache, a Homburg cache and because I'm trying to not avoid multi caches. The quick storms hit me a few times, but it did keep most of the locals inside, keeping the areas free for me.
Certainly an interesting area and pleased that the area looks used by the local population, rather than a place that is only used on sad occasions. This Virtual took me to some interesting graves. At one stop, I came across 2 names that matched aclue, but no answer could be discovered. Discovered the correct one, a few meters away.

Late this afternoon we visited the Oakleigh Pioneer Memorial Park. We enjoyed wandering around this park like setting as opposed to a cemetery. We visited the five locations and collected the required information. Answers to the questions have been forwarded to the CO and "permission to log" has been received. Thanks SirJ-OZ for an interesting virtual cache,
On a solo trip east to visit family and friends, this virtual was on my list. I found it interesting especially the marked memoriam bricks as pavers. FP for bringing me here. Answers sent to the CO. Cheers!

My chauffeur for the day dropped me off at Chaddy on his way back from Geelong to do another delivery, so I followed the trail of a couple of Golden Ticket holders until I reached the "dead centre" of town.
So here I am, walking around a cemetery. In the dark. Again.
Things learnt and information gathered after finding Little Lucy's resting place.
Thanks, SirJ-Oz
I found it an interesting coincidence that the first interment parallels that in 1906 at Fawkner, my local haunt.

Late last night, while putting the finishing touches on preparation for the trip to today's cleanup at Eastern Beach, my phone decided that would be the perfect time to not work. Unsuccessful attempts at reflashing the operating system morphed into searching online for a replacement.
Which is how, after a sleepless night and a foggy morning drive, I visited the office supplies giant for a new device while n0w0rries found coffee.
Obviously, my Geocaching app of choice was the first thing to be installed.

Pretty sure I’ve done this before but didn’t log it. Anyhoo, I got to do it all again today on my hunt for virtuals.

We had a bit of fun getting the answers for this one in the rain but we did in fact have a good time drinking a nice coffee from just round the corner as we walked round and collected the answers,
Answers have been okay'd by the CO thankfully.
This was a long weekend of caching that we had planned to take toolman on with us when he had recovered from what his doctor call a 'tune-up' but due to a delay here and a setback there all he could manage was a catch up over coffee on Saturday morning, it's been a while so it was nice to just have a chat. In the end it was a Friday to Monday trip where myself and goose searched for a small amount of caches to help fill a few of our grids, it was a few days of mixed weather but we still had a good caching trip, thanks to all the COs.
Thanks for the cache.

After a short sleep (a very late arrival into Melbourne last night) we went in search of breakfast and coffee. We found a little place near the train station and were very happy with our choice. We sat in the car near GZ and ate but wandered around the WPs with our coffee in absolutely dismal weather. Our phones got so wet they were playing up!
Despite the weather, we enjoyed the area and certainly enjoyed the virtual cache, even with Jack causing us no end of grief.
Answers sent to CO by Stainless steel rat on behalf of the two of us. He snapped a stunning photo of us too
Thanks SirJ-Oz

I jumped off the train here seeing the virtual and expected a quick find but it’s a classic of me not fully reading the assignment. I had barely any phone charge left so I had to hotfoot to each waypoint before going back to the train station. Luckily it was still light and wasn’t raining. A very interesting cemetery TFTC

With an event on Elephant Rock that look amazing a crew of Neville_devil, AusFox;, Dromaniax and Donutholes was arranged for an early morning ferry ride and a day loaded with caches. Key caches were targeted for their D/T ratings and other because of the degrees from home for other challenges. Then there was also some unloved that was begging as well. All up it was a fantastic day with great mates with caching providing a good excuse to be out and about.
AusFox and Donutholes had to head home early so they caught the ferry back while we continued on a long day caching our way back home by car around the bay.
On the way home around the bay Dromaniax was keen on grabbing as many Virtual caches as he can, this was the last of them before we called it quits. We were impressed on how this Memorial Park has been integrated into the surrounding area and not just a burial area.
Thank you SirJ-Oz for highlighting the area

It was a very early start as team NADDS headed off for a caching expedition on the Morning Peninsula. Team NADDS consists of neville_devil, AusFox;, Donutholes, Dromaniax and Sims_family. Go NADDS. We had put together a list of caches we wanted to target, and we were also happy to pick up other caches along the trail. We were blessed with stunning weather, and it is always great fun to cache with a group of mates. We caught the first ferry across and picked up an Adventure Lab, and then started to work along the East Coast.
We were heading home and wanted to add to our list of Virtual cache finds, so we stopped by this one in Oakleigh. This is an amazing place for a Virtual cache. We visited around 10.30 at night, and it was well lit. It is fascinating that a large park has been formed around the cemetery and that it is a place that many use daily. It is also a cemetery in excellent condition, given its age. Thank you, SirJ-Oz, for this Virtual cache. An FP for bringing us to such an interesting place.

I stopped here while I’m transit from work in Mentone to a tennis match in Macleod.
It’s a cemetery that doesn’t feel like a cemetery. It’s actually quite a nice park with lots of history surrounding it.
It wasn’t busy here despite being a beautiful evening so there were no issues finding all of the required information for both the multi and the virtual.
Answers were compiled and sent to the CO.

On my way home from work I decided to stop in here to collect this virtual as I really enjoyed the Multi cache here last week! Once again it was a lovely sunny day and wandering around the area reflecting on life was beautiful. The grounds here really are such an interesting place and I loved the blossoming trees scattered around.
Thanks for a fun virtual Sirj-Oz!

Was in need of a Virtual Cache for another challenge cache I am working on and this one seemed interesting.
I had just found a multi cache yesterday that was in a cemetery, so I figured I would try another. It was interesting to see the stark contrast between the two cemeteries. As the cache page said, this was a unique cemetery and one that made me feel less weird walking around all the tombstones. It was a nice pleasant walk and was quite interesting to see the history that was here. TFTC.

This morning after being woken up at 4:45am on the spirit of Tasmania we headed around the suburbs of Melbourne before making our way up through the Yarra valley and to Beechworth.

It was drizzling when I visited the Oakleigh Pioneer Memorial Park and therefore there were not many people out and about to see me wandering all over the park.
Old cemeteries can be sad places. One of the smaller head stones depicts the demise of a seven-year-old child...

Out and about today with my girlfriend enjoying this sunny day. I had always meant to come back to this reserve but never really found myself nearby to warrant it. Eitherway here I am today, admiring the warm weather and the flowers growing everywhere. With a short stroll the answers were soon spotted and collected.
The definition of *quaint* is
> attractively unusual
In that case, this is a very quaint cemetery indeed.
It has:
* History
* Brickwork
* An in-ground trampoline
All the hallmarks of a cemetery.
It also has a virtual cache, which provided a nice tour around this peculiar location, especially in regard to the first characteristic.
But one cannot shake the thought that there is something particularly quaint about an in-ground trampoline next to a gravestone.
> attractively unusual
In that case, this is a very quaint cemetery indeed.
It has:
* History
* Brickwork
* An in-ground trampoline
All the hallmarks of a cemetery.
It also has a virtual cache, which provided a nice tour around this peculiar location, especially in regard to the first characteristic.

A nice quick walk with the family, taking in the beautiful park and getting to know the permanent residents. Thankfully the sun came out to play long enough for us to enjoy our brief time outside. TFTC
What better time to do a Virtual cache near home than during lockdown! This one had been on our radar for some time but today we headed out for a short walk with the geodog and geokid.
I've always wondered about this park and it certainly is different! A short walk around and we had the required info and grabbed some take away lunch from a local business before heading home. TFTC

This was a fun challenge. Probably left it fractionally too late in the evening but still good!
Short and brisk walk for all of us during lockdown. This cache was close enough to solve and fun for the kids to find the answers. Solved together with Emandel.
Really enjoyed exploring the cemetery with these questions!
Found all the answers. TFTC!!

I found this cache today on a quick Oakleigh / Hughesdale Late Morning Caching Hunt. Second time in a couple of years that I have run around this area in search of a cache and also my second Virtual Cache in two days. A cold wind whipped through here today, which is very apt for this type of place. Thanks from D B-A
One of the dates was very difficult for us to read it had been worn a fair bit but I enjoyed my stroll around this park that I have never been too despite spending a lot of time in Oakleigh.

#1828 Was in Oakleigh dropping off Daughter and her friend to a nearby Escape Room. Since there was no point in returning home and coming back again, I decided to see if there were any nearby caches. This one popped up and being a multi thought it might fill my spare time nicely. Took me a little longer than planned, as although it was still just daylight when I started, it was dark by the time I finished, which added to the time taken to find the answers.
Have submitted the answers to the CO and they have been marked as correct so am now formally updating the log as “logged with permission”. Although I have passed by this park area a number of times over the years I had never actually visited it. I was surprised how extensive the area is and all the history which goes with it. TFTC SirJ-Oz, it was well worth doing. I also got started on the nearby "Little Lucy" but time ran out before I completed what was required, so that will have to wait for another day.

Found with FUF009.
Cache type 4 in our hunt for 12 types today.
It was a long day beginning at 5am and ending at 8.30pm and ranging all over the city.
This was a most interesting virtual cache as I do like a cemetery. This was a cemetery like no other Ive seen. Ive always worried about walking on peoples graves but here I dont think they'd mind.
A very pretty space indeed.

Day 3 of my extended long weekend.
Found with sharkiefan. An early Start seen us up at 5am and heading to the eastern side of the big smoke for an attempt for 12 types in a day, along with 4 Old caches I required for the Jasmer. With the big day of caching, it seen us getting back at 9pm and travelling over 380ks.
It was quite interesting going through this Memorial Park/Cemetery gathering the required info. being from the country it was unusual seeing this in the center of such a built up area, not to mention the police station backing onto it.

TFTC! Second time here trying to solve the multi, and this time around had more time to get these answers. Very interesting park with the cemetery!
Absolutely loved visiting here. So unique. Thanks for showing us that it existed. I had friends that lived not far away and they would have loved it and yet they never mentioned it. Thank you.
After collecting the necessary answers, we took some time to look around. We have been to this general area a few times and we didn't know that his was here. We really liked it here and wouldn't have known about it without this cache. Thank you for placing it here. A definite favourite.

I was waiting to pick my geowife from hospital so had some time to grab this Virtual. A really nicely put together Virtual and proved very interesting when gathering the answers. Had trouble with a swooping magpie at one point, but got over that. Answers have been approved in very quick time and that is nice.
Thanks Sir-Oz and congrats on gaining a virtual.

Catching up on old logs and got a chance to finally send my answers through to Sirj-Oz. A quick prompt response back with the ok to go ahead and log.
Thanks for the "cache" adventure!

Such an interesting place: thanks for bringing me here SirJ-Oz. I wandered in the drizzle and did the nearby multi and learned a lot about the history of this place. Thanks for the cache and the adventure. Logged with permission.
In the middle of doing the nearby Adventure Lab on foot, I decided to stop here at the cemetery to eat the amazing Greek cake I bought while walking through Oakleigh (OMG - YUM), and check out the virtual and multi. I did half the multi then aborted, because I couldn't face counting bricks just then... but I did complete this virtual. Answers were submitted and I'm logging with permission.
I adore old cemeteries and thoroughly enjoyed rambling through this one. Its open nature is just idyllic, even on a grey old day like this one. I've had my eye on this virtual for a while, and I'm glad to have finally done it. Thanks for the experience, SirJ-Oz.

Thoroughly enjoyed the guided walk around the Memorial Park today gathering interesting facts about some of the residents from headstones and monuments. It's very different from a traditional cemetery and thanks to SirJ-Oz for outlining the fascinating history. There must be some great stories of the lives of these pioneers. Amazing to imagine this as bushland back in 1860.

Suscoe was travelling in this area today in the terrific company of Phetlern.
We have been to this place once before many years ago and so it was nice to revisit today.
It was a delightful last day of Autumn with a good bit of sun and the clouds were not threatening with no sign of rain at all.
We really enjoyed this exploration of this area.
Thanks to Sirj_Oz for creating this virtual to recognise the importance of this space.
A favourite from us.
We enjoyed our lunch on a nearby seat.

YAPIDKA and extraordinary you could say, and one of special interest and a few memory joggers. Really enjoyed the quiet wander. TFTC
This was a clever cache that I solved awhile ago, whilst doing the nearby multi and saved my answers to log later to give it a proper story, as it deserves.
Today is that day and it is special, as it has been one year since my first geocache!
Geocaching has been a brilliant activity and I have explored many places that I never would have otherwise, learnt some cool facts and challenged myself physically and mentally - scary tunnels & drains, puzzle nights and now I am brave to walk around a cemetery and appreciate it! So thank you to all the CO's for putting the effort in with creative stories & clever hides (like this one), Event Organisers and Roaming Howie for introducing me to Geocaching and being my adventure buddy! I rode my bike by again today for the memories and smiled about my journey!
Thanks SirJ-Oz your caches have been exciting!

Noticed this little gem of a cache a few weeks ago but didn’t have a chance to complete it. Had a chance to complete it today while waiting for my bus.
A very pleasant walk was had with historic tones mixed with the cricketers training in the background and all this to the scents of souvlaki. All this made for a very enjoyable experience.
Thank you Sirj-Oz for showing Grub62 and I this area and TFTC.

Logging with SirJ=Oz's permission. Bunadoorian and I were down that way and thought we would find this Virtual's answers. We had a great time walking around this well maintained park that also has headstones and monuments in it. Bunadoorian wanted to go and find where the smell of cooking came from!!! Thank you SirJ-Oz for bringing us to this lovely park.

On a caching mission today to increase my leap day Project-GC add-on count (the little circle on the side of the badges for 29 Feb). And I'm chasing some of the Geocache of the Year Award Nominations as well.
I love this place, thanks for bringing me back here again.

Kestal and I met up with Scratches at the airport for a dedicated geo-weekend away with oldies, high faves and the rarer cache types at the top of the list. After checking in to our accommodation we decided there was still enough light left to find a couple more. This location is fascinating...really enjoyed the wander around the park/cemetery. Answers sent and permission to log granted. TFTC SirJ-Oz.
Came here after we had dumped our bags at the hotel in the hope to grab another type to round our day off. Answers were gathered and Eskies5 sent the answers off to the CO on behalf of her, Scratches and myself. Great hide and TFTC SirJ-Oz
Is it wrong that I like caches set in cemeteries? Really enjoyed wandering around and looking at some of the history with Kestal and Eskies5 while collecting waypoint info. Answers sent and logging with permission. Such an interesting area, to be in such a spot and surrounded by so much life, loved it.
