We are in Wellington for a few days. We walk through the streets, stroll along the promenade, ride the cable car and visit the botanical gardens. We follow the lab caches, which often lead us to unusual places. Unfortunately, we have to leave some traditional caches without logging them because there are often too many muggles watching. We visit many places in Wellington and enjoy the breaks with a delicious coffee. Nice ViewMany thanks to all the owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi
Day thirty three of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Wandering around Wellington, a few caches and some AdLabs. The day started a bit damp, but soon got better. Still very windy though.Spent most of the day at Te Papa.We were wondering about the question when we spotted it.The Morris sent our answer to the CO.Thanks, Robmc.
Day 33 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today was predicted to be rainy, windy and cold so the intention was to head to Te Papa for the day. Before we headed in we wandered about a bit collecting some AdLabs and caches. Thanks for contributing to an amazing holiday
Like they say, 'You can't beat Wellington on a good day!', and it's pretty good on an inclement one, too, as long as you are suitably rugged up!Now that I have two thou caches worth of experience under my belt, I've decided I like Virtuals and Earth caches best as they are usually somewhere very scenic and/or fascinating. I enjoy having history/ecology/geology/processes explained to me that I might otherwise never be aware of. There is usually something going on all the time around this area and Oriental Bay, and today was no different - locals and tourists populating the cafes, people moving in or out, deliveries, kids on bikes, rollerbladers, runners, folks fishing off the jetties, etc, etc. It's fun to walk through this sea of happy multicultural, cosmopolitan humanity in our peaceful country. We don't know how lucky we are!TFT Virtual Tim+Jed
After an great few days in Dunedin, I had a one-night stop over in Wellington so made the most of it and headed out caching. A very windy afternoon, had to hang on tightly to the phone!Answer sent to the CO, pic attached. Thanks Tim+Jed for bringing me here.
We had an amazing weekend in Wellington! Loved every part of it - from the food, the local beer, the people, the ParkRun, the Geocaches (only a few but better than none as I was travelling with non-cachers)... Just great. Answers sent
#3806 I am on my geocaching holiday in New Zealand. Today is my day 3, and I walked around Wellington and found some geocaching here.Found it! It was hard to see from the top in the dark. I walked down there to record the answer. Tim+Jed, thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 3, 2024 @ 21:52:15[GC7B86Z] Virtually Wellington was a D1.0/T1.0 Virtual Virtual Cache at the time of finding.
8 nights ago we arrived in Wellington and were staying in a hotel across the road. Our original plan was to walk over back then but it was raining and the next morning we were off to Hawkes Bay to drink wine for a week:We were back in town for our flight out later in the day. The morning had started with rain again and we thought we wouldnt be visiting at all. After a trip to the museum, the rain had disappeared only to be replaced with freezing wind. Our perms were going to cop a work out, but we would be dry.We shivered on the walk out yet still found the answer and emailed it when we got home. tftc
Not many days more perfect than this at this time of year. A nice little stroll white waiting for an event to start. Realized I didn't put my cache name or literally anything else besides the answer in the email. Whoops
This was the turnaround point on my pre-dinner walk this evening. A nice quick visit at 18:40 to grab the clue and take in the night vista of the city before heading off for din-dins. While grabbing the answer, I did wonder how Wellington gets its 'Windy Wellington' nickname. Thanks Tim+Jed.
After hosting my event outside Te Papa, I met up with my geowidow in the museum & we spent a good while looking around several exhibitions. Then we split up for me to visit some caches. This was the next & it was a very blustery walk along the quay to GZ. There it took me a little while to locate the requisite information; I blame having to squint whilst facing into the headwind! However, spot it I did & I have already sent my answer to the CO for approval. I have also attached a photo as further evidence of my visit. Found at 16:06Cache #10451TFTC Tim+Jed
Busy morning of fishing today, unsurprisingly - took some glancing to finally spot the answer, as a fisherman blocked the view. Cheers!
Stopped at this cache while visiting **New Zealand**! Today we spent a day in Wellington, a beautiful city with many old buildings, some caches along the way. Tftc
I left my room just before dark to get some caches before the event I was hosting. Traffic was flowing but I managed to stay out of the way of any cars. LOL Thankfully, it was lighter when I arrived at this cache. I ended up walking down to the lower level to get the answer. What a beautiful morning. The answer has been sent to the CO. Thank you for the smiley and the fun! The day:Today continued my week-long adventure solo on the North Island. I started out early so I could get as much in as possible before darkness fell. I found caches, met so local cachers, walked for miles, and drove for many more. It was another grand day. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that you are appreciated.
Our first whole day in Wellington. Sunny day, nice caches. Greetings from Finland Thank you for this cache.
We (raija485 and I) have few days to search geocaches and explore the city at the same time. As for the weather, it's really nice to be here and move around (as long it's not raining). Thanks for the virtualcache and greetings from Finland!PS! Raija485 sent our answers.
Down to the harbor, and there a bunch of fishing-guys here! Thanks for the cache./herrFamaxe from Sweden
Fourth day in New Zealand ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary country and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. Now I had the chance to join a large group of mainly German geocachers and I was delighted to take it. After a stopover in Qatar and 8 days in Australia, our journey continued from Auckland to Queenstown with various stopovers.Used the last few minutes for this virtual ??. I really liked Wellington. An interesting city. Today I'm taking the ferry to the South Island. I sent my answer to the owner via Message Center. Thank you for laying & taking care .Vierter Tag in Neuseeland ??.
We used our stay in Wellington to explore the city. We also walked along the waterfront. There were an amazing number of leisure opportunities here. Very nice for residents and tourists. We have sent the answer to this virtual "Virtually Wellington" to the owner.Danke Tim+Jed??
I too fulfilled my dream and traveled through Australia and New Zealand with a tour group. So we (penalty96, AmoebeST, sozioma) walked through Wellington to visit this virtual cache.Thank you for luring me here and showing me, says ollillein
Ich bedanke mich bei Tim+Jed fr den Virtually Wellington .On my tour through Australia and New Zealand I was part of the DownUnder24 team. In some caches, the task was solved as a group, but individuals also submitted the solutions. Conclusion: every virtual event was an experience and I saw and learned a lot. I would like to thank Tim+Jed for the Virtually Wellington .
Pavla i nov art deco katedrla. Today I had a walking tour of the city of Wellington and I managed quite a lot. I visited the National Library, the National Portrait Gallery, the City Museum, old and new cathedral and, at least from the outside, the set of Parliament buildings. And also many parks and waterfronts and train stations. I also hunted for geocaches in many places. The city is very pleasant with lots of parks and statues, but the wind blows very strongly. Thanks for all the caches and greetings from Czech republic.

I am with Muggle on a three and half week trip to NZ. Nothing serious, just the well trodden track every NZ tourist does who is coming from the other side of the world and has not the chance to come here more often. North Island is done, Auckland Coromandel, Rotorua touched. Now it is two days to spend in Wellington before the ferry goes.In the morning we were exploring the botanic gardens. Nice spot is the Begonia Cafe. The raspberry slice with the white chocolate satisfied all my needs. In the afternoon we checked out Cuba street. What a nice area. Spinning with life. Next was a walk on the waterfront. Just tire out yourself completely with impressions. And I was so tired in the evening. But this city has so much nice places to go.Thx for hiding.
Today I had a really nice walk around the harbour of Wellington. And after this some wine and fish at the plaza. TFTC, osn
We were going to Wellington by bus for a whole night. Than we were waiting for the ferry and explored the town. It was really hot and I for a while slept in the park on the lawn:)) Greetings from Europe (the Czech Republic).Nice harbour. Great walk with searching - what is the beer in NZ like?:))Thanks
It was great to be back in Wellington for the first time in years! I ended up going for a lovely stroll around the harbour area and finding a few caches along the way. Seems everyone was out and about enjoying the nice weather today. Information was obtained at GZ in the end but did have to wait a while as someone was blocking the answer. Email sent to CO with answer. TFTC Tim+Jed

There was a whole bevy of fisherpeople set up at the end of the wharf when I strolled down to the end.
Some bloke caught a fish from behind the ok sign, the others thought hilarious and watched on gleefully while I stealthily hunted down the missing text.
Thank you taking me down here showing me another side of the city, and educating me at the same time (sad history about the terminal) for the virtual and congratulations on receiving the virtual reward in the first place!

A popular location here today but great to visit as the views are really nice in all directions! Answer has been sent.
Although I've heard much about Wellington I hadn't till now had the opportunity to visit, so it was great that I was able to come on a four day caching trip and experience it myself. An added bonus was that I would have the opportunity to go to GC46, my last of the NZ 2000 caches I needed to find... yes, needed!
Having the company of GreyHams was definitely a big plus (as always!), not only does he plan these trips, drive and navigate, this trip he was also my tour guide! Lots of pointing out the highlights, and the many things I had heard about I could finally see and experience for myself.
Have to say I was impressed with what awaited and just loved my visit with all it had to offer, such a scenic and interesting location. We were lucky that the day we arrived there was an event we could attend. It was great to meet the local cachers and share stories of caching adventures both local and abroad over dinner.
We worked around the weather a bit as it was forecast for rain, it did but usually only when driving or overnight so that was nice! Day 2 saw us driving out to lower and upper Hutt, and the Hutt River featured greatly along our travels! Staying close to the car as it rained worked nicely and GC46 was ticked of early... I understand it can be windy but it was often calm so I'm not sure if I missed out or got lucky!
So impressed by the greenery, the hills with perched houses and the spectacular harbor views. A walk out along the red rocks track to 'Devils Gate' was a highlight, we saw a seal and finally I saw my first ever bumblebees! Honorable mention to our car that wasn't where we left it overnight... bit of a concern until we found out it was just moved up the road a little!
Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that help guide us around, we had a select list of caches for the short time we had, so if your cache made our list it had a quality we were needing, thank you!
