Reperio 17:02Day 3 of our NSW south eastern caching tour, and Master Vitruvius and I travelled from Captains Flat this morning to Batemans Bay. The day kicked off with completing more of the longer series and power trails and culminating with some night caching around the bay and beyond. Before the sun went down, we went for a walk across the bridge to visit this virtual cache, and the views were fantastic. Took our photo, and submitted our answers and received the green light.Gratias J+J.auAs a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV
Today, we changed to a cold day and visited the B.B Markets area, which has a nice view.TFTV
Had a few problems with questions & spent far more time on this one than I wanted. Thanks to CO for helpful response here, and for setting up cache.
In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. [:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - J+J.au [^]
My family and I go down to the coast almost every holiday, while getting fish and chips this time I decided I was going to try and find the information needed for this virtual. Unfortunately wasn't able to find the correct answer for question number 2 but owner said I could log the cache anyway, thank you!
Another cold morning, as we ventured into BB. We spend 30min at this cache looking for the container for the TRAD. (Note to self, wear glasses when selecting which cache you are going to). Four layers of clothes on, although we have been in NSW since Feb and thought we were acclimatized. Were NOT, although the locals are also rugged up. Great vantage spot to look over the river and town.
Im staying in the area for a midwinter break and whilst on a ride in the area decided to do this virtual cache. What a stunning winters day to come here. The sun was shining and not too windy at all. Thanks for the cache and what a view from here!
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Our first visit to ACT in that time.We headed out this morning hoping to beat the predicted rain, but it eventually caught up with us. We tried searching between the showers but eventually it was continual and we headed home to the warm dry caravan. Answers sent to CO. It was freezing, windy and raining whilst we spent 30minutes searching for the answer to Q2.TFTC J+J.au
As we wander through the land, grabbing caches and seeing the sights even occasionally catching up with friends found with wooloston meande hans and linda A good day was had while grabbing these caches with lots of miles covered Thanks for placing them *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Day 6 of mogni and sir_spectre visit the ACT. Today we left the ACT for a time and visited Batesman's Bay as there was an earthcache we both wanted to find. Of course before heading off we visited the Canberra Airport, and grabbed a few smilies. A long day, but great weather for being out and about. As per normal if a cache needed a bit of love, it got it. Many wet and smelly containers were replaced and lots of logsheets added today.Answers sent by sir_spectre on my behalf. Thanks to J+J.au from mogni
Came down to do the wasp head earthcache ( Australian oldest earthcache ). Detoured over here to have lunch. Walked up from the carpark to do this virtual after lunch. Answers sent. Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.
I remember the old bridge well, although I prefer this new one. Brooding views with approaching rain on our late afternoon visit today.Answers sent to the CO.Thanks, J+J.au!
We have spent way too much time getting back home from the Easter Mega in Canberra. It is pouring rain again so we are going to pick up some virtuals as we go if they are accessible in the rain. This one was the first and GT37 didn't want to leave it. We were going to get it yesterday but it was too wet so we have driven backwards to get it only to arrive to the heavens opening. She was very close to falling over as the wind was gale force, especially on top of the bridge. Finally, we got what we needed and very carefully made our way back to the car. Photos is with GT37's log. Thanks for the cache.
I won't forget this cache for some time. I got blown off my feet and had to grab onto Papi to stop from falling over. It took us quite some time to find the answer to the second question but find it we did. Thanks for this cache.
An opportunity arose today to head from Canberra down to South Durras to find [Earthcache I - a simple geology tour of Wasp Head](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCHFT2_earthcache-i-a-simple-geology-tour-of-wasp-head) with Wollaston, HansandLinda and Honeysucker. Of course I couldn't pass up such an offer. We headed off, only stopping occasionally and had a very enjoyable day in the sunshine while back in Canberra the weather was less than friendly. Answers sent. Thanks for find #6060TNLN
TFTC J+J.au your cache Clyde River Bridge that we found today. The Canberra Mega is over but we are staying in town for a few more days. We went out with Honeysucker, Wollaston and MeAndDe to Batemans Bay. The main aim was Earthcache 1 and Honeysuckers 19,000th find. We stopped at other caches on the way and on our return. This was one of themFind Count: 19536
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. FP
Back on the mainland, after nearly 3 months in Tassie. So nice to have avoided all the excessively hot weather.Enjoyed a ride over the bridge to grab this info. Such a great day, to enjoy the view and boats out on the water. Thanks J+J.au for placing the cache and doing the responses needed, so we can do this virtual cache.
Spent some time on the bridge trying to find the answer to Question 2 but eventually got it; Was rather windy on the bridge but otherwise very fun! TFTV J+JAU!
Found It!It took me a bit longer to find the answer for Q2 than it should've but eventually I spotted it. It's a bit sad they demolished the old bridge, they could've kept the history and had two bridges like some other places have.TFTC
#10204 (9 of 20 today - including 5 Adventure Labs)Headed down to Bateman's Bay, and environs, in the Geowife's Mugglemobile for today's event at Wasp Head. It was a long day, starting the drive down before 8am and not getting home until 11pm - utilising a long stop at the Gong on the way home to make sure I stayed awake.Having a few hours "to spare" before the event, I took the opportunity to grab a number of caches around Bateman's Bay. By the end of the day I had 20, including five ALs by the water. That included, of course Earthcache 1 at Wasp Head, which was the focus of the day - Happy 20th Anniversary.###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###First... How did I miss noticing a Traditional on the bridge? Got to GZ for the second question and the photo - the wind was stronger up here than I expected.Spotted the first question's answers on the way back to the car.Answers sent to the CO.TFTVirtual
A cache trip to the coast for the 20th anniversary of the worlds first Earthcache in South Durras and as part of an Canberran invasion with a number of CBR cachers staying Moruya till Sunday. Saturday was organized around the celebration event. But with ample of time we first headed a fair way south all the way to Narooma and slowly made our way back up north to the event in a large group of two full cars. Stopping at caches that at least some of us still needed. This cache: while others went to get lunch I used the opportunity to get the two caches on the bridge. Made my way up found some of the information and a picture. Thank you J+J.au for putting the virtual cache out.
Find # 10989Hi ho hi ho its off to cache we go Another day of adventures with like minded fun loving geocaching friends - barb2e and isopeda. With a bit of a plan in mind, and a collection of TOTTs to assist us in achieving our objectives, off we went. Headed off down the coast to join in the Geocaching NSW celebrations for the oldest earthcache in the . Howzat!! GCHFT2 Earthcache I All finds were a group effort. Quick easy find at Clyde River Bridge here today and cache in good condition unless otherwise noted. Thanks so much for the many caches J+J.au and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light
After leaving Orbost we spent the whole day driving up to Flinders picking and logging new LGA's.It was quite a rainy day to start off with but luckily whenever we stopped, so did the rain. The wet forest's smelt wonderful, something I haven't experienced in over 25 years.I hope to return to this lovely part of Australia oneday. Thanks for the cache j & j.
We are on a 6-day new-year's camping trip which is taking us down along the south coast to Bega, then onto Namadgi NP. Last night we camped our first night of the trip here at Bateman's Bay where it rained heavily all night so we are off to a challenging start! I got up at dawn while the rest of the novos were sleeping it off to find a few caches and a walk over the new bridge. Wow the old bridge is completely gone - last time I came thru town this bridge wasn't here. Answers sent and photo posted. TFTC, J+J.au.#1729
Driving slowly down the coast with our campervan. Nice views! Thanks for the cache!
Couple of Finnish vanlifers traveling around this beautiful coast of Australia with Matilda the campervan. Stopping here and there to enjoy life without any plans.Mntti1 and I started our travels couple of weeks ago. After getting everything set up and visiting some friends, we began making our way south from Sydney. Stopped here at Batemans bay for few days and during our evening walk we came here for nice views and some caching. Thanks for the cache!
#6412.We had to stock up on our supplies today. While the women went to the shops, I took the kids for a walk across the bridge. The views are amazing from here and we enjoyed the stroll, even though we had to battle against the wind. Thanks for placing a Virtual here for us to find.
After stopping by the river for coffee and breaky, I wandered over to the new bridge to do the virtual. Quickly located the information on the way to the bridge and on the bridge. The wind was blowing a gale and nearly blew me off. I haven't visited Batemans Bay since I was a little kid. It is nice to see the work that has been done along the river. TFTV
#12712 12:10For the October long weekend a plan was hatched to stay in Tathra for a few days of geocaching, sightseeing and relaxing. On the drive down the coast we stopped at Batemans Bay for a few caches. All answers were collected and we then continued our journey.TFTC
What a fabulous new bridge, which was a pleasure to walk over to complete this Virtual. Answers have been sent to the CO and were found easily. The weather has cooled down a little compared to when we arrived at lunch time and the breeze was not quite as strong as we expected. Took the required photo and walked back to the GeoCruiser waiting patiently below. #10, 336 TFTVIRTUAL J+J.au We are visiting from Wangaratta, Victoria and will start heading home tomorrow.
Today I took a quick visit to Batesman bay. I was quite surprised at how big and kind of touristy it was. This virtual was one of the caches I found myself doing today. I spent a bit of time on-top of the bridge..I didn't realise at the time that this bridge was brand new. I later took a walk along the bay were there was a Sunday market.
Day 4. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip.
Batemans Bay to Wollongong with lots of stops in between.
A lovely spot here to take a wander and explore. A nice stroll across the bridge gathering answers and taking happy snaps. Answers submitted.

After I lovely meet and greet below the new bridge, we took a walk to the top of the new bridge in the blustery winds.
As always, no matter, the weather, the view from this location is spectacular
In the far distance, we could see an island, which houses a cache! Gosh, we need to come back for that.
We didn’t spend too long here today, as the winds were really wild as our selfie on the bridge shows.
We have sent our answers to the COs.
Thanks J+J.au. Adding a FP here.

I’m working in the Bay and thought I’d grab a few caches while I’m in the area.
It’s been quite a few years since I last visited The Bay and was stunned that there was a new bridge built here. I remember the old steel bridge that used to be here.
I bit of an overcast day, but never the less a pleasant walk across the new bridge to grab this virtual.
Thank you for the stroll and the cache J+J.au ??

Visiting from Ohio, USA and driving around enjoying Australia in a campervan. Got this one while riding my folding geobike around town. Got all the answers, eventually, and then just enjoyed the view.
846 for the tribe
Out for a cycle on the lovely path around Bateman's bay which saw us bag 5 AL locations, two virtuals, a traditional and the AL bonus! Not a bad afternoons work. Autumn is just lovely down here and really a lot quieter than we expected for a weekend with perfect still weather. thankful for COs in this part of the world for setting up fantastic caches.
Interesting to see the current satellite image of this area when the bridge was being built. Amazing that such a structure can be built, and to see the bits of the old bridge at the south end of the bridge.
Lovely to feel the breeze on the bridge while hunting for the required information. Eventually came up with the goods, thanks for the hint! A beautiful day at the bay. TFTVC!

Hi J+J.au, thanks for the quick reply to our answers, congrats on being rewarded a Virtual cache.
We were here today on our NSW coast leg of our ‘Around Australia’ trip.
We set off back at the start of 2021 expecting to go around Australia in 12 months - here we are still going in 2023 with about 1/3 of the island left to lap.
My (Geo Mum) personal Favourite experience: Too many to choose, Finding Gold and Opal high up there, working on a CQ cattle station was awesome too.
Favourite location: Gibb River Road/ Kimberley closely followed by Nhulunbuy/ Arnhem Land.
Best paid activity: Horizontal falls
Best free activity: Kings Canyon Rim Walk, Matt Wright putting us up for free in one of his helicopters was pretty awesome. (Let’s not talk about his current situation )
Most interesting location. Arnhem Land
What you have learnt: I wish I had something insightful to put in here, if I though really hard about it perhaps I do but I gues the most practical things I learnt are: Mango sap burns, midges are xxxx’s and dog beds are a versatile alternative to real furniture.
Miss the most: Family & Friends, closely followed by my garden and my chooks.
Look forward to the most: The Whitsundays
Regrets? Worrying so much and not heading off years ago!
TFTC
*Sorry for the copy and paste log but I’m notorious for getting behind with logs and fluffing them up

TFTV. Enjoyed walking over the bridge. What a lovely view from up here. We are camping at Burrill Lake for 10 days and decided to come here for the day. Had a lovely day and this topped it off. Nice and cool with the breeze blowing after we had a kabab for lunch. I’m visiting from the Hunter Valley. A favourite from me.
Logging with the permission of the CO. Bunadoorian and I were here the other day and enjoyed the views from this bridge.
Great views from GZ here. Although GZ was hard to accurately locate due to the make up of the bridge itself. While we were looking for some of the answers for this virtual we noticed that there was a fairly constant stream of muggle foot and cycle traffic on the path. Thanks for bringing us here and the very prompt reply to my message and TFTC.
Couldn’t find the other cache on the bridge so we were determined to do this one. Answers messaged to you.
Second day of a mini GeoMission to the area with Gill&Tony. G&T had already found this virtual but not the traditional nearby so we decided to take a walk on the bridge. A few years ago I shot some nice drone footage of the old bridge so it was impressive to see the size of the new one. Gathered the required info and took a photo. Will send answers now. TFTC and another FP from me.
On my return trip back to Qld after the Mega and picking up a few caches with some major detours along the way.
Lovely walk out to GZ on this new bridge, a lot of foot traffic enjoying the 21° sunny day.

On my way home from Bermagui, decided to go via the Kings Hwy and target a few high FP caches. My 2nd ever visit to Batemans Bay. A lovely spot I would like to come back and explore more.
Disappointed with my DNF on the nearby trad, I set my focus to gathering the required info for this virtual. Took a little while to find the 'code' with the amount of people crossing the bridge. Eventually had a big enough gap to get down and have a good look.
A lovely spot for a virtual, answers sent.

Spending a couple of days in and around ACT with 3 Queenslanders and 1 Tasmanian, then down to the coast for a few days! Weather not great so we have been trying to get caches that are not long walks so we can keep reasonable dry.
Due to this weekend being “Earthcache Day” we were aiming at doing as many Earthcaches as possible and anything else that we thought was worth a stop. Found with Nyssaflutterby, teamnanabombane and wombles&co.
It rained so much last night and first thing this morning that we were a bit weary of what we may achieve today. After checking into our accommodation for the night and grabbing some fish and chips we were then off to gather some local caches!

After finding the traditional nearby we arrived at this location to gather some of the info and take a snap. Unfortunately the knee joints arnt what they used to be and a few contortions sort of got us the information. Information sent to CO and photo taken. TFTVC J+J.au.
The bridge is impressive with its sweeping lines. The old bridge we liked for its history.

Did someone say Road Trip?Spiffy- and I had long joked about the Quest For The Golden Dragon cache and several things aligned that gave us a few days to commence the hunt. We knew the starting direction, but not much more.
So the drive began and this cache was a target for us. Nice walk over the bridge with great views.
Thanks to J+J.au for the fun and the adventure.

Off on our main day for the quest for a golden dragon with Fleabag and a beautiful sunrise greeted us as we headed off. A bit chilly to start but at least the rain had stopped from yesterday and there was no wind.
Walked across the bridge with Fleabag and made the find on this. Had a little bit of trouble with the underwater stuff but otherwise all good.

Day 13 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane. After overcoming floods, a bogged car and vehicle electrical issues, we finally reached Canberra to spend a few days with relatives before continuing south for a loop around the Snowy Mountains. From there we headed towards Eden to commence the run north towards home following along the coastline.
The area was bustling when we arrived today and we were lucky to jag one of the last carparks in the area. Also plenty of construction going on near the bridge with new hand rails being installed on the stairs leading up to the bridge walkway and a new large deck being installed at the waterfront park. Walked out to GZ and got a birds eye view of everything going on. Was a little sad that the old heritage bridge was demolished but that seems to be the price of progress these days. TFTC

After having brunch with a local, we went for a stroll along the foreshore continuing our chat. I selected the destination as the new Clyde River Bridge and the Marina breakwater.
Our local acting as tour guide told us all about the old bridge and how the lifting mechanism wpuld delay traffic. His story about how it was also known to break, causing all traffic to go well out of the way thru Runnyford.
Thanks for the cache J+J.au

Out for a great adventure. away from home. having a break and caches. Great area. Interesting sites. Thanks for bring me out here.
I came up here with my mate last night to get the answers and for him to take a photo (as attached). However, we couldn't find the numbers/letter but really I didn't look for them properly as I didn't want to spend too long up here as we had to rush to dinner. But today I came back by myself for a proper look and found what I was looking for - very sneaky placement! A fun virtual and a great use of the new bridge, maybe it'll grow on me once I've mourned the loss of the old bridge. TFTC J+J.au!
Log to come once response submitted and verified.
This cache mentions the new and old bridges, and says the old bridge is being demolished. At the time of my visit the OLD bridge no longer exists. I was a bit bewildered as to where the answers were to be obtained. Maybe this virtual needs a questions check.
I've been wanting to go to Wasp Head for some time, so today was the day in which to do that, as well as visiting a special friend and former Highlander in Ulladulla. After spending some time at Wasp Head, and completing the two Earth Caches there, we had a little time to see if we could find the information needed for this Virtual. We were dropped off on the north side of the bridge and walked to the south side to meet up with our ride. Great views and a great walk. Had some trouble finding the information needed. This cache lives up to its name we discovered.
We called over to Wray Street and discovered an Oyster supplier. I have been wanting to try Oysters for some time but other suppliers wouldn't sell just one ggrr. As we were going to visit friends in Ulladulla I bought some hoping they eat them, just in case I didn't like them. The Oyster Shed was selling Mandarin and Mint dipping sauce which sounded interesting, and of course I acquired some. Eager to try the sauce I took an oyster and loaded it up. The sauce must have had Chilli in it and sure wasn't quite as I expected. It may have ruined some of the experience - I haven't quite decided yet. It's likely more suitable for an oyster connoisseur. I must have been watching too much 'I'm a Celebrity get me out of here' as I took hold of that oyster and chomped down on it. It sure was very fresh, and let's just say, I'm prepared to try more. The first time I had an oyster was in Foster when I was 10 and I didn't mind it. I suppose that is why I was prepared to try them again now. A particular number of decades later with an age ending again in zero, and at the opposite end of the coast. I didn't end up having another oyster today, it didn't eventuate unfortunately, but were left with our friends to enjoy.
I missed the turn off to Wasp Head, so ended up on the southside to Batemans Bay and parked near another cache of the CO. I was unaware until I looked on the geo app. There was no way I was going to miss that one until I got part way down and saw how thick the vegetation and weeds were. So I must return when the weather cools and the vegetation hopefully dies down a little. Walk the bridge again and grab more oysters.

Thanks for the Clyde River Bridge Virtual. Visited while OCW Throsbyonchurch and Little Panther on Australia Day. A run down to Batemans Bay to find a couple of Earth Caches then a Virtual, and then back to Ulladulla to visit family

Floating around on the hunt for the information for this Virtual cache with Throsbyonchurch and DustyJasperJet, enjoying the views from atop of this vantage point down over the bay as we walked from north to south across this new expanse. With information gathered, hopeful expectation and some happy snaps we evacuated the scene to the car on the southside where Mr TOC was waiting. TFTV! J+J.au, your efforts are much appreciated.

Found tyftc. Jaunt in and around Batemans bay today. Beautiful day. Find 2/3210
What a spectacular view. The Schnapper islands are particularly impressive from the bridge.

On a day trip to the coast with Joolay and Barb2e. So much warmer than Canberra.
This was great to stretch our legs.
I did like the old bridge, but I guess there is so much more traffic these days. I once was the first one at the traffic lights with perfect view of the middle being raised.

Great chance to see the old bridge up close after so many years driving over it. On a day out to the coast with Joolay and Isopeda targetting ALs and Virtuals with some other caches of interest thrown in. Great to see the old bridge up close while hunting up the info for this one. Plenty of muggles enjoying the walk across the new bridge. Tftc J+J.au
Solved this one last time we were down here, but it has changed from a smiley. Answers have been resubmitted. Glad we got this one on the old bridge a lot more historical.

Came here today, the day after the new bridge was opened. It seems, according to the fluro workers starting to dismantle the bridge, that the walkway was supposed to be closed along with the road traffic once the new bridge opened. Seems there was a problem on the new bridge, so the foot traffic was diverted back onto this old bridge... My lucky day because I may well be the last to claim a find of this virtual in it's current format.
A grande olde bridge is The Clyde. Alas could not keep up with the increasing traffic and maintain a thoroughfare for boats as well.
Grabbed the info required and sent to CO, whom replied almost immediately, Thanks.

We couldn't help but wonder where has February gone as we added the date to logs of caches we found around Bateman's Bay this afternoon.
What an amazing old bridge. We can't help but wonder what will become of it in the future.
Logged with a tick from the CO.
Thanks J+J.au for placing this very interesting Virtual on the geo-gameboard.
