Just visited the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre (which was fantastic btw), followed by lunch at Monicas eatery next door (also fantastic). A quick stop at this virtual before heading to Pukekura Park. We love this clock tower, shame you cant go further up. Kapiti seeing Kapiti Island is home for us. Thanks dragon gem#1182

I was wanting around new Plymouth checking out the various sites and land marks, couldn't resist checking this one out. This is vermicelli, my pet diamond python she remind me of home
Our first visit to New Plymouth and whilst we didnt get to the CBD until early evening we did enjoy a quick tour around before returning to our Airbnb. We were drawn to the illuminated clock tower and I went exploring and counting steps! My home picture is of Sylvester Hut in the Nelson Lakes NP which is a place I loved to tramp before moving north. Thanks dragon gem#5328Logged using Cachly.
We have been enjoyed some geocaching time on a visit to New Plymouth. Answer sent. Thanks dragon gem for setting up this Virtual. The theme of Home made me think about what to post. At home we especially enjoy the bird life in our garden and in spring Tui feed on Emerald Gem flax flowers right at our living room window.
Thanks for the virtual cache!I see the mountain and think home, my photo is from a boat out looking towards the port
Called past today to collect this virtual. Answer sent and the attached photo - this little girl always used to remind me when I came home even if it was just for a day at work, let alone a holiday for a couple of weeks in which case she became very chatty. She turned up as a little 8 week old stray kitten but became a very loving kit.
Cache found during a beautiful walk inside this very Nice City . We love it very much . Thanks for the cache and the discovery of this place. Greetings from France .
We're in town. Haven't been home in about 8 weeks, and home isn't what most people think of as a home. It floats and is in Tauranga right now.
As youngest team member of team GO_Jack, I want to do some virtuals during my six-month trip to New Zealand and Japan.Yesterday I arrived here in New Plymouth from Whanganui. Today I'm going to explore the city.Home? From this cache it is more than 18,290 kilometers. If I have to add something or someone, I can think of a lot, but I would choose our dog. I hear that he certainly seems to miss me quite a bit. Answer to the question has been sent, thank you very much for this one.Greetings from The Netherlands.#3.568 - dragon gem TFTC!
Staying in New Plymouth for a couple of days.Took a wander round the area and grabbed a couple of caches on the way. Here we sent answers to the CO and the photo is of some ducks in a pond near a cache in Otorohanga - this reminded us of the family of ducks we have in our pond back at home TFTC Tim and Viv - ddm
Found with little blue hen. Lovely weather for our trip to New plymouth. Last cache before a trip back HOME to the kapiti coast.
2:36PM Some great history at this little park. One of the many reasons geocaching is so good. TFTC Cheers M+S [:0)] 2934

Day 16: Around TaranakiTodays journey took us around the Taranaki Region, where we headed as far south as Cape Egmont before heading up to Pukeiti, and back to New Plymouth for two more parks: Tpare and Pukekura Parks. After that, we searched for the best views of the Maunga from Te Wera Wera Bridge and walked the Coastal Walkway back to the Port. Another truly productive day, and thanks for all the caches around the Taranaki Region. (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:So, what makes me think of home? Probably the pet cat(-in-law), which was actually the wifes, but now has become ours, though I think I do dote on her more than she does. Dropped by this one on the way to the Wind Wand and looked at very reflective gallery opposite. TFTVC!
Enjoying a brief day in New Plymouth on a cruise.I guess we are like many others and wish we could have climbed to the top. It's a bit of a shame because I'm sure the view would have been great.
Nearing the end of our fantastic North NZ touring holiday, T4mmmy and I are now heading from south to north for our flight tomorrow. No worries here. Thanks dragon gem for bringing me to this location. Answers sent*{Overall find #11864}*
I was in New Plymouth for the Taranaki Fringe Garden festival. After a long bus trip down from Auckland I needed to stretch my legs. After a walk along the beach front I headed into town to do this virtual. Answers have been sent to the CO

We are a French couple travelling in NZ for a year. We are quite far from home as it is the exact opposite of the world. This is our first day in Taranaki region. Answers sent to the owner. I pictured the bracelet my parents offered me before I left to NZ. This remind me home.
A nice virtual to collect I lived in the Taranaki for many years. For me it was home, in fact for a few days I am back visiting from Adelaide Australia to catch up with long time friends and reminisce.and here is a pic every Taranaki person will recognise TFTC

Down in New Plymouth for a week but had to wait until I got home to complete the logging requires. Slept in my own bed last night and it was good to be home.
I have collected rugby ties from op shops over the years and have about 400 that surround my lounge area. They always make my home MY HOME.

Thanks for the cache! For me home is in Hawke’s Bay, and after growing up on a farm, sheep and lambs remind me of home, so attached is a cute lamb photo I took a few years ago on the family farm.
In New Plymouth for a couple of days rest and relaxation. Picture of the Manawatu Gorge which reminds me of home. Walk the track as often as possible. Thanks for the cache!
Found while doing a late afternoon walk through this part of town and then revisited in the morning for a better view.
Interesting tower. I am currently traveling for a year and my home is where my tent is. I don't really know homesickness, so I don't have anything else that makes me feel at home.
Answer sent off to the CO.
We're staying in Whanganui for the last week of the school holidays and took a day trip up to New Plymouth today and of course I wanted to get some caching in. Parked up nearby and counted the steps.
One of my favourite memories of home is the view from Mount Victoria in Wellington (where I also happen to have a cache hidden). The view is almost always spectacular. A highlight was a geocache event organised to coincide with a full lunar eclipse where we were to "howl at the moon" (along with many other people.

After living in Canada for the last three years coming home to New Plymouth has reminded me just how truly beautiful NZ is, forever grateful to be back
Riding with buke while visiting NZ. Today it was pictorescue New Plymouth. Our regular home is in Finland so the feeling of home comes from our Lapland cottage, especially with the winter feeling.
We were staying in the Naki for the weekend, and as we had no vehicle we had to walk or cycle around the area. We were able to walk to this one from our HOME for the weekend at the Millenium hotel.

I don't have a "home " in the sense that my childhood was spent on the move around different towns in the North Island. My parents were ministers in The Salvation Army. So I am calling TSA my home. This weekend I have been on tour with the seniors SA band. After finding gz and counting the steps I meant to photograph TSA In New Plymouth but too late, the bus was loaded ready to take us to our next destination, Hamilton. So the photograph is of my spiritual home in Hamilton.
In town to play bridge. Home is in the deep south and the weather reminds me of home, wet and windy while I was getting some caches. Had a good time. Thanks
Thanks for the cache. I grew up in Stratford, but home now is near Hamilton. Photo is me chiling at the start of the school holidays.
I"ve had a pleasant day caching between Stratford and NP, then around NP. A great way to spend a day - good weather for it too!

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on our first day in and around New Plymouth. The weather was gorgeous and there were a lot of people out and about.
We have been here before, to do a multi and visit the Len Lye centre. SW volunteered to do the counting, numbers sent.
As I have lived in Chch for many years now, I suppose images of the Port Hills means home. TFTC.

It’s funny, right as we arrive to do this cache, as I was parallel parking, my partner, completely unaware of what cache we were about to do, said “does it remind you of home?” (Since we always need to parallel park.
So what is my photo?
The parking spots!!
Anyway, thanks for the virtual! Wish I could visit to the top!

I'm on a trip with my Mum and two youngest children. We're doing a quick tour of the North Island. We walked around the rim of the Waihi gold mine and stayed in Tauranga the first night. Stayed at Lottin Point then we headed to Gisborne before driving down to Napier. Turangi was our next destination before heading to our old stomping ground Palmerston North. We came via Whanganui and Hawera to New Plymouth today. Tomorrow we're going to Taumaranui via the Forgotten Highway. Next is a quick dash down to the Raurumu spiral before going up to Waitomo Caves. Back to Auckland for a few days with family, the long awaited 2020/2022 Mega then home to Whangarei.
I was hoping to get enough of the first TMGT caches to complete the Tauranga, Gisborne and Taranaki areas. In the end I failed on all counts. By the time I got to Taranaki I had decided to do higher favourited caches rather than the tour ones.
I had very limited time in New Plymouth. We stayed near Pukekura Park so a short walk into the centre of town. I was keen to get the virtual on my morning walk as I like to find different types. I took my Monopoly photo near here, found the wind wand cache and did some Ad Labs. Interesting reading the description. Thanks for the virtual

Ended up in New Plymouth today on a surprise impromptu boxing day road trip, and I couldn't have picked a better day for it. As I was only here for a few hours I targeted only a few specific caches, and this was one of them.

Having moved on average once every two years from 9 years old until 50 years old in NZ and around the world, and being asked many times where I found it best - my reply has always been where I was at the time. So here's a photo from the front door of my present long time home.
Great idea for a virtual! Love the home feel. Thank you for including it and thanks for the cache, dragon gem.

Arrived at GZ to find work going on at the tower. Have sent answer. My original home is in Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australia. It’s on the Murray River and there is a lake that was created to control the flooding of the river and allow a number of irrigation channels to be constructed. They cleared a lot of the river forest near town but many trees were left. It’s a seems a waste and the health of the river has declined due to this and other factors but it was all we knew growing up.
Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.
Greetings from Dunedin!

Sadly, even though this cache is just across the road from the hotel we are staying in, the clock tower is covered in scaffolding and we are unable to fulfil the required task. So near but so far!
For me, home is seeing my cat Stella, the one constant in my life for the last 16 years. She will be waiting for us when this trip is over. TFTC dragon gem.
Third day of a 10 day lower Nth Island road trip, and we have the day in New Plymouth. Started the day with a bike hire and a ride up the coast to Bell Block. Some little caches on the way, but also some great views. Was just early enough to get a picture of Mt Taranaki in all its cloudless glory framed by the Te Rewa Rewa bridge - absolutely no show of this on the way back. Very busy along here. Went north toward the port end as well, then ditched the bikes and strolled around Pukekura Park enjoying the views, plants, weather and a spot of rep cricket. Will be back tonight for the Festival of Lights. Thanks all COs for the cache placements that helped fill in the day.

Answers sent on weekend, but didnt get time to think about home properly. I guess for me seeing pine trees reminds me of the forestry town i grew up in and family. As i didnt have any appropriate photos i have pinched one from the net.
After realising there’s going to be a small wait for our dinner to be ready we decided to quickly do a cache. This cache was close to our motel and the boys had been wanting to look at the water feature so it was a no brainer.

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I are on a bit of a Christmas Roadtrip from Auckland to Ingill & back ... we'll be doing a few geocaches on our travels ... this being the 179th cache of hopefully many ... we had been spent Christmas in Invercargill & were now heading back to Auckland, taking the scenic route ... we were now heading North, had been up the West Coast of the South Island ... were now going 'round the mountain' before heading back to Auckland ... were staying the night in New Plymouth ... be rude not to grab some caches on the way ... quick & easy find, answer has been emailed to the CO ... another 'smiley face' to the tally ... TFTC ... TN:LN:didn't SL;it's a Virtual ... #1,913 for us.
This was our first time to this city - we were heading for the very top of the North Island so were just stopping for a few caches with favourite points, virtuals and a few earthcaches. Parking was at a premium around here so as we got to drive around the block a few times looking for somewhere to park the campervan we kept passing the shiny building. I kept trying to take a photo each time we passed as I have never seen a building like that before. We eventually found a park and gk wandered over to count the steps while I sat and watched the traffic flowing past.I have attached a photo of the chain link fence around Rocks Road, Fifeshire Rock and the Western Ranges (Nelson) which is a view that I savor every time I go past it, and to me it signals 'home'.You may notice that I am over a year behind in logging this cache as we had lost the notebook we wrote all of the information in, so now that we have found it again I am hoping to catch up on logging the virtuals and earthcaches that I thought we would have to revisit another time. Thanks for showing us a wee snippet of your town and thank you for the smiley
Answer sent. Great to tick off another virtual on a work trip to one of my favorite places in NZ. Tftc! Pic attached of my home, Wellington.
North Island Campervan trip Day 2
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
So seeing as I have to get to Auckland to pick the camper up it seemed like a great opportunity to break my drive up there up by going via the Taranaki, to seek out some targeted caches there such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Today was simply the drive up to Auckland from New Plymouth. This was an opportunity to go caching in an area I don't often get to and in fact haven't been to at all since I started caching. But before I set off on the trip up north, I had a few caches around here that I wanted to look for including this one.
Being a Saturday morning, the place was still fairly quiet as I made my way to GZ. I was able to take a few photos and gather the required info without any problems.
For my photo of 'home', I am posting a sunset photo I took from my place of 17 years now. I've seen plenty pf spectacular sunsets, but for some reason they are never as good as the ones I see from my own place
Thanks for setting this Virtual cache up.

(Answer sent to CO). Lovely tower, HOME, as a person who travels for a living Home is very precious and especially family and NZ. T4tc and the thoughts
Well, I actually managed to climb up and count the steps – I suffer from mild vertigo and I thought I may not be able to climb the steps since they are ‘see through’, but I did .
I’ve posted two pictures of ‘things’ that make me feel that I am home. - my cat and a rhododendron at my family home (I think the is ‘Kaponga’).
Jude_E, NosyNel and I are continuing on our figure of 8 tour of the North Island collecting the ‘Tour’ caches, plus others, plus seeing the scenery, plus having a good old time. TFTC.

It would have been nice to climb all the way up. My family makes me feel at home. My family is in Christchurch.
I am on a North Island Figure of Eight tour. For the first 4 days I spend time in the Bay of Plenty with my husband JDScout in Rotorua. Many things to choose from make me think of home. I chose the view from the driveway where I grew up in South Canterbury. I couldn't find a picture quickly of my cat! Thanks for the virtual.

EtherLady and I are on our way to New Plymouth for a weekend away.
We've thrown the EtherKids out at my parents' place in Wanganui, and now we've arrived in the 'Naki!
We've checked in to our AirBnB and now we're strolling along Devon St taking stock of the restaurants and cafes that we might try over the next few days.
Cresting the rise, we came to the base of the clock tower and my geo-senses kicked in, telling me that there had to be a cache here. And right they were!
Thanks for the Virtual, I'm pleased to see more of these available now (I also was awarded one).
Home for me is the street where I grew up.
At age 6, our family moved to a house on Cambridge St.
Wherever I see another Cambridge St/Pl/Ave/etc, I find myself smiling
Attached are some of the smiles that I have encountered in my (limited) travels

With a rare weekend off work and a great forecast for Taranaki I through a few supplies, and my son, into the camper and headed over on Friday afternoon for the weekend. I was able to shoot down to this GZ after breakfast to find the required answer, before we hit the road for the Holden Museum. TFTC (& pics to follow)

#11,845. We have visited this spot at the junction of Devon Street West and Queen Street in New Plymouth City, Taranaki on a number of previous occasions. Interesting to learn of the history of the clock tower and we enjoyed visiting the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery / Len Lye Centre too.
It seems appropriate, while staying at home in the COVID-19 Alert Level 4 lock-down period, to complete the logging of the virtual find. The answer has been sent via the Message Center to the cache owner today.
Keep safe everyone. “Everyone should stay at home.” So it is all about home indeed.
Thanks for the virtual placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

We did this virtual during a quick visit to New Plymouth; we were supposed to be en route to the South Island but then the Covid lockdown was announced so we headed back north instead. Much later we sent the answers to the CO, and received permission to log a find. Thanks dragon gem for bringing us here and showing us this interesting architecture. Photo of our current home attached.
After a nice day out in the NP we were back in town to have an early diner. And after that we wanted to see some of the towns caches and we selected this virtual.
Steps were counted and answers were sent via Message Center.
Accordingly to the picture: home is where the heart is. And this could be whereever we are together. Took a nice picture in Franz Josef some days ago, because he is the special one for me.
Thank you for the virtual cache!

Thank you for the virtual cache!
My first cache find in a long time, however when at the clock tower on holiday in New Plymouth thought, there must be a cache here ... and there was. A nice easy Virtual. Congratulations to Dragon Gem on earning the reward and placing in this location. Home for me is wherever I am when I'm with my family (esp my grandchildren). This photo was taken at Miyazu Gardens in Nelson.
A nice clock tower, and it's a pity you can't go any higher. A good home photo for us is the iconic University of Otago clocktower building. Belatedly we realise we have subconsciously chosen another clock tower. TFTC
