TFTC! 15 September 2024 12:51:38PM 8460 thanks to Aussieben for the cache! Stop off back towards Newcastle after completing the frying Pan. Thanks

With a group of 6 of us, 5 from Melbourne and one from Sydney, we'd planned a day trip to do Frying Pan and a few others. A 3.35am wake up, and landed in Newcastle at 7.55. The weather forecast was 9mm of rain, thunderstorms and 47km winds. But this morning was in fact warm sunshine and a still and pleasant day. It was a quick stop here fur our photo shoot. Thanks to QueenAnt, n0w0rries, Nirgalagrin and Paul the Hippy for a great and successful day.

We found him today standing patiently out in the street. We tried a number of clothing items on him and the photo shows the one he thught suited him best.We woke to the occasional shower today and overcast skies but in the end the weather was kind. We headed off to an Event organized by organized by Deni_f which was well attended by cachers from Newcastle and surrounds as well as locals. A lovely friendly bunch of people who entered into the spirit of some fun activities organized. We really enjoyed it. A bonus was a new wherigo released in conjunction with the event that we all enjoyed completing.Afterwards we headed off into town for lunch and then picked up a few caches in the immediate area before heading back to our camp.A great day.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Aussieben.**SKI Pair****

Well it would be a shame to remove a part of Maitland's history. He should stay.I've never been into Maitland township before so I wasn't sure about parking but I managed one about 10m from GZ. Lucky!I used my souvenir hat from the Sydney Olympics to dress the statue. Fancy, it's been nearly 24 years since the Best Olympics ever!!After getting my photos I went into the nearby pub for an icy cold drink before heading home as it was so hot caching out here today.TFTC # 5915

Oh, and we grabbed a few geocaches as well SmileWent for a wander along the main street/mall, such a nice town.**Thanks for placing this cache Aussieben**---Have you logged your will attend for the Cachemas In July event?More details are available at: [GCA7WT4](https://coord.info/GCA7WT4) If you are looking for some new caches to find, explore the nominees for the 2022 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. The Geocaching List is available [here](https://coord.info/BMC8QYR)!

The intent was always to come to Muswellbrook this weekend for The Great Cattle Dog Muster, but we left earlier than expected so I had an extra day to cache…

I cobbled together a vague plan on the run, concentrating on a non Trad per LGA for a Challenge in Brisbane, all the while scooping up some TBs to take back up to Queensland…

The weather wasn’t cooperating and the distances between LGA’s was far more time consuming than it appeared on the Cachly map…

I made the worst park possibly in the truck, but it’s a truck… grabbed the rain jacket for the photoshoot and was on my way…

I think my visual merchandiser training is really paying off…

Thanks Aussieben

Back in my old stomping ground. I went to school in both Rutherford & East Maitland in the 70s and occasionally I have come back through Maitland on my way to somewhere. Today ?????? & I battled the treacherous one way traffic streets to find a park & then to complete this cache we forgot to do last time we passed through.

We planned to camp nearby and decided to check out this cache. We have been trying to find as many Virtual caches as we can. We saw this one, and it intrigued us. We find it is somewhat surprising that it still exists. In working out what item of clothing to use to meet the Virtual cache logging requirements, we couldn't go past Mr Dromaniax's favourite cap, which states, "Will trade racists for refugees."It seemed pretty appropriate for this statue. Thank you, Aussieben, for creating this Virtual cache and maintaining it.

On our trip through Maitland as we headed north, how could we not stop for this little beauty.
It was quite warm and we were walking our way around doing a couple of adventure labs in the area.
We read the description about this one and also the history of this wee character and statue.
I’m sure he is well respected here.
We said hello, gave our greetings and asked if you would mind if we could have a photo.
Thanks AussieBen. I’m not sure we would have spotted him along a walk today how do you not highlighted him.

Exploring around Maitland for the day and grabbing some caches as we go. Plenty of nice old buildings around here. We decided to invest this little fella into our scout group as we were up here to pick up gear from the recent corroboree.
Thanks for helping us find this interesting piece of history.

On my way home and it was still a 12 hour straight drive, but there are caches on my list I need to grab first. A drive to Hornsby, Maitland, Kurri Kurri and a few others before I am finished. There is a couple of virtuals and lab caches of particular interest. So much to do and so little time.

This was a fun virtual to do. Not having a great deal of attire to dress him in while on the road I was stumped for ideas. Then I thought how appropriate to dress him for the times we now live. Hope you get a laugh as I did from my pics. Thank you for the cache.

Technically Day 2 of our Newcastle holiday, but day 1 was a 14 hour drive, so didn't see much of Newcastle. After spending the morning around the Nobbys Beach it was time to head up to the geocache I really wanted. The old GCF1, year 2000 geocache, the "Frying Pan". Little were we to know that the bridge on Frying Pan road was closed.

With my wife getting us Subway for dinner for us, 999HK and myself headed up to this one. Fortunately the area was extremely quiet at 5 pm on a Tuesday night. I had my Parkville Mega hat that I was able to dress the boy up with.

Thanks for the cache Aussie Ben

PS. Give us a week to upload the photo after we are home from holidays

A two day road trip to conquer the Dog Head Trail together with The Bebes, Everest High and Eagle Eyed Monkey Girl.
As we finished earlier than expected, we decided to do a few more caches. A virtual in Maitland and the caches around Walka Water Works were chosen. I had been in Walka Water Works before, but as I had geodog with me, I could only complete a handful of caches. Today, in good company I managed to complete most others.

After completing the Dog head Trail we drove into Maitland for a beer and to discuss the next plans. This virtual was opposite the pub so it was a quick find. TFTC!

This was 237 of 251 finds today. TFTC!

On our way home after a 4 day camping trip, decided to stop in Maitland to find a few caches and check out the flooded Hunter River.
Had a bit of trouble locating the resident at first, turned out that we were on the wrong side of the road and he was blocked from our view by a muggle-mobile. Decided to put a hat on him today.
Thanks for the cache, FP for something fun and a bit different

This was our first visit to Maitland. We grabbed a coffee and walked down the Main Street checking out the highlights.

We almost found out the hard way that the footpath and the street are made of the same material. We were gleefully walking along between tables when we noticed cars heading straight at us.

It took us a while to find the statue because it was behind a parked car but we got there in the end. tftc

#7883 (20 of 23 today - including 5 Adventure Labs)

Picked up *The Hademobile* this morning after a big service. So of course I need to test it to make sure everything is back to working in tip top condition...
So decided on a 100min+ drive to Maitland - as you do.

I'd noticed the caches placed at the Walka Waterworks. Looks like a nice few hours out. Pity a few of them are Missing in Action - someone needs to give a hurry up to that slow boat from China... One was muggle central and one I just didn't try as I felt too conspicuous.

Got twenty three including a Multi and a Virtual. And then there's the long drive home in the dark... why does that truck matching my speed on the motorway have one headlight and no tail lights?
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
So, a few caches to finish off the day. Noticed this Virtual. Gotta try that!
Managed to get a parking spot 100 metres or so away. Walked there and found the little guy.
Not something that would be installed these days. Hmmm.
Lent him my cap and took a snap.

Onto the next one.

It's great to see a little bit of sunshine after so many days of heavy rain so we decided to spend the morning hunting down adventure labs and anything else that popped up on screen that looked dry enough to get to.

What an interesting piece of local and international history which unfortunately he had to perish at such a young age to then be immortalized and live to be so old. If he could talk he could certainly tell some stories of change in all his different locations. He has watched over.

Today we just added a cap and took the required picture.

Thanks Aussieben for setting this one up and teaching us some history that we would not be aware of if not for this cache.
