Thank you for hosting this geocaching event! The date of the event has passed. We automatically archive events after 30 days (60 days for Mega- and Giga-Events). Attendees can still log archived events, log trackables, and share their experiences.
Out and about today with Happy Uke and our good friend and conspirator in caching AngelG27. This time we were down Goulburn way and got to watch some very entertaining short films put on by the very welcoming caching community of Goulburn.
Thanks Nibletricecakes.
Thanks Nibletricecakes.
What a fantastic event! Thank you nibletricecakes for holding the event and thank you to the GIFF movie makers. Some where a little lost in translation but overall some very cool and enjoyable clips. May be biased but the first Aussie one was the best. Bring on next year! Next year we should hold a Red Carpet Event for the GIFF.
Although we didn't make it to the GIFF event, sounds like everyone had a great time. Congratulations Nimbletricecakes and team for putting on such a highly favourable commented event. We will have to try and make it next year. Cheers Chris and Geoff
My first GIFF event. I had a great time eating popcorn and meeting people from around Australia and further abroad. Some of the films were lost in translation but still great to watch. Thanks for organising a great night out.
Such a great excuse to catch up with everyone and watch some caching creativity. Thanks to all who travelled down and made it an awesome night!
The first find of the day. After spending the morning at work, I decided to head out to attend this event. I wanted to grab this one for the souvenir on offer and also as a chance to see some of the Geocaching films to come out this year. I was slightly late to the party but that wasn't too much of an issue as I didn't miss anything. The movies I saw were good but I had to leave before the end. TFTE Nibletricecakes!
Had a great night. The finalists where amazing. Attended with the geokid TornadoTori15.
We had a VERY big day today. AngelG27 came up from Canberra and, with Finalf29 playing chauffeur, we all ventured onto Penrith to finally defeat the final horcrux... Lord Voldemort himself... from the horcrux series. We grabbed a few nearby caches before making our way to Goulburn to be part of the GIFF event there. The weather wasn't the best, but the wonderful company and fantastic caches, made it a long but rewarding day... I found fifteen.
This was my last for the day. We made it to Goulburn in time for a yummy meal with some other caches, then off to the GIFF. This was my first GIFF and I didn't know what to expect... well I really enjoyed myself. The movies were quirky and full of fun, with lots of "in caching jokes". My favourite was the Aussie one about how "Geocaching is free". I had some wonderful chats with old and new friends, and it finished at a reasonable time... we were all a little tired. Thank you so much Nibletricecakes for putting all that effort into running this event... I had great time!

14946. Attended this great event and had a very enjoyable time.
Arriving about a third of the way through after kid duties ended, I sat through the very well put together movies and grabbed a cuppa. Afterwards it was the usual catch up with caching friends and meeting new ones. Finally I watched the ones I had missed earlier to finish off the night. My unbiased opinion was the Aussie one as well
Thanks Nibletricecakes - awesome event in a great location.

What a lovely well run event, so glad we managed to get there. The room was full of happy geocachers and had a nice atmosphere to it. Thank you Nibletricecakes for all the effort you put into making it a success.
We headed up the road to Goulburn to attend the GIFF with CBRChic. We grabbed a handful of caches before an early dinner at the Paragon with a bunch of other Canberra &n Mittagong cachers - thx for organising KittyKatch. Then it was off to the GIFF.
The GIFF was well attended with locals and those who travelled even further. It was good to meet and chat with 'actualsize' from Southern California. The films were a mixed bag. My favorite was an Aussie 'Geocaching is Free', a great story and a twist. Some others that stood out: 'A TB's Life', 'Geocaching Day in Vilnius', 'The Art of Geocaching'. Passionate FTFer's seem to be an common subject too.
Thanks for organising Nibletricecakes with help from family & friends.

The word was out that there would be GIF in Goulburn and I had been looking at the announcement and thinking – “never been to one of them and would love to attend.” Got a lift and a little caching in with StrangeTrousers before meeting some of the Canberra crew and Mittagong catchers over dinner at Paragon. A definite rival to the Central Café in Queanbeyan for serving sizes. Thank you KittyKatch for organising.
Onto the event organised by Niblericecakes – Everyone had a chance to mingle before the viewing and it was a nice chance to meet other cachers and catch up with others. It was wonderful meeting 2y’stassies and actualsize. ‘Geocaching is Free’ was my pick for the night. Have to have a little laugh at it given that I am in the throes of convincing the family I really, really need a kayak for Christmas.
Thank you Nibletricecakes for a great night.

I was happy to be able to come out to Goulburn to spend the evening with a great bunch of people. Thanks Nibletricecakes for organising this and presenting the videos in such a friendly atmosphere. My favorite was the aussie jailbird as he expresses so much I think about getting more stuff, but I am saving not printing.
Thanks.

After a long day of geocaching in the Goulburn surrounds, particulary the Taralga Trek series and through Crookwell I finally finished my loop and ended back in Goulburn for the main reason of today's endeavours, my first GIFF event!
Wow what an impressive location for it too! Indoors, plenty of seating, coffee and tea facilities and other little nibbles, not to mention the HUGE projector screen to watch the movies on
The overall favourite seemed to be "Geocaching is Free lat&long junkie Australia" which filled the room with laughs and smiles. A very relatable short film for many!
My second favourite was "FTFever AlboGIFF_Team Spain" particularly for the goofy actors, spanish accents and the rude humour
Special thanks to Nibletricecakes for hosting this event, hosting one of these proves to be a big effort which is why there never seems to be one in Canberra! You certainly drew a big crowd to Goulburn for this unique event! Plenty of locals, semi locals, and even people from across the seas! Thanks again!
(Dropped off 4 Trackables and Picked up 6, will take them to the Mega in Alexandra)

Thanks for the fun and interesting event ...
Didn't get any takers for car pooling when I asked on the FB group, so I drove out here by myself, found a couple caches on my way here, and a couple more on my way home ... enjoyed my fish and chips (not as good as my local one, but not bad) and the company of some other cachers, enjoyed the weird and wonderful films (most a bit more weird than wonderful, but I still enjoyed watching them all)
Now ... time to work out which of the more than a dozen trackables I took and still have, "drop" the ons I didn't bring back with me (because people picked them up), and log all of the even more of the things that I picked up - lol

Attended 6:45pm 6:51 pm Never knew about these sorts of geocaching films. An entertaining evening, some were quite good, a couple were a bit bizarre but I guess sort of had a message. I particularly liked the film where the floating dude (conscience) appeared when geocaching was a bit dodgy or to set them right. A bit of a drive though from the Central Coast. Still the American guy beat that.
Thanks for setting up the GIFF event.

What a wonderful day I had today. With two incredible geocaching buddies, Kitty Katch and Joolay, we were the Capital Crunches and hit Goulburn armed with the solutions to many puzzles and determination to conquer the Mount Grey series plus some extras. The weather was kind to us at first but by the time we arrived at the top of the Mount (yes Mohamed(s) came to the Mount), it was windy and cold. The views had been spectacular but rather than sit out for our picnic lunch to enjoy them, the weather drove us into the car.
After lunch we did a couple of Governor Hill caches then decided to grab the puzzle caches we had solved. With a few extras thrown in for good luck, we decided to call it a day about 4 pm and headed into town to check into our motels for the night.
A brief rest, then a walk to the Paragon Cafe for dinner where the service was exemplary, and then luckily we caged a lift to the GIFF which was a fantastic evening.
Thanks to the ladies for a fantastic time, to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches - all of which were found easily and in good condition, to the fellow cachers at the GIFF for adding to the enjoyment of the evening and Sol de Lune for the lift back to my motel saving me quite a walk (yes the legs and feet knew they had covered some distance today.)
Great to be able to attend this well organised event. Enjoyed the films, the supper and meeting other cachers. The Aussie film was the best, of course!

It was great to attend my first GIFF event and meet some new geocachers as well as familiar cachers from Canberra too. Thanks for organising the event.
This is our fourth trip to the northern island this year. The first three were primarily for family events but with some opportunities to do some caching along the way. The fourth trip is different as caching is our focus. After getting off The Spirit of Tasmania we are heading north to cache at Wangaratta and then Yass before heading into the ACT and Queanbeyan for a week. After that we will travel to Jindabyne for a few days with summiting Mount Kosciuszko being our main target for this part of our trip. Then we will visit Cooma and Tumut before heading back down the track through Wangaratta and Mansfield as we make our way to Alexandra for the MEGA. After the weekend we will continue to make our way south and back onto the Spirit of Tasmania for the “drive” across Bass Strait. We are really looking forward to three weeks of intense caching in great areas and, hopefully, catching up with some geocachers in each of the areas we will visit.
We have been working on the Canberra Mapping Challenge (GC5KB4J) for some time, taking the opportunity of reducing the number of suburbs still required every time we come through Canberra. So the first part of today was spent trying to meet the requirements for another six suburbs. We then found some caches in other areas before heading off to Goulburn for the GIFF Event this evening.
We arrived in Goulburn early and had some time to find three other caches. Then it was off to the GIFF event. As it was our first GIFF we really didn't know what to expect. The first thing we noticed was the large number of cars in the car park which was good to see. We had the opportunity to catch up with some we had met before and some we had the pleasure of meeting for the first time before the short movies commenced. The GIFFs were interesting in that there was a wide variety of caching subjects and styles presented. In particular, the cultural differences between different GIFFS was very marked. This was an excellent venue for the event and we were really impressed with the organisation of the CO and the efforts made to make the event an experience. Congratulations Niblericecakes for a great event.
***** We are currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. On 1 September 2017 our average was 86 which seems close to the 100 target. However given that we have found so many GC caches, we have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get our average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that we can strive to attain this challenge. After 158 caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 89.7. Progress is being made but there is still a long way before we achieve our goal.*****

With life keeping me busy I hadn’t made plans to attend. Looks like I should be able to after all . C u there
Thanks for organising such a great night unfortunately will not be able to attend - Hope everyone has a great night
Cache 3142 on 5/11/17
After Happyuke managed to grab the information we needed to finish off the Horcrux puzzle series, we and Finalf headed to Penrith to grab the final and whatever other caches we fancied on the way. Now the prize has been claimed, we are heading slowly south to Goulburn for the GIFF event, caching on the way. Unless otherwise stated, caches were found in good order and as directed.
Arrived in Goulburn and after a fine dinner, attended the free movie night! Lots of fun films to watch and peeps to catch up with.
Thanks Nibletricecakes for the event!

What a great turn out. The hall was full of caches from all around the place.
The selection of movies were outstanding, quite hard to choose the favourite one .
We haven’t been to one of these events before.
It was nice to catch up with everyone, swapping Path tags and stories.
Thank you to the CO for hosting the Event and suppling supper.
Wow. We won the {*FTF*}
We will defiantly attend another one next year

Had really good time enjoying the films tonight. Some were funny, some others interesting.
Wow! What a great night! Meet some new cachers and some familar ones. Shared a few jokes and stories and watched the giff event entries overhead with some supper. Big thanks Nibletricecakes for all your efforts and hard work putting on an enjoyable evening.
How fun! And such a great group of people! Please look me up if you ever find yourself on holiday in southern California. This was my first event outside the US, and my first GIFF event anywhere. (My favorite was the one made by one of your own, the guy who went broke and then went to jail after using funny money to buy another TOTT.)
This one was just over 7500 miles from my home coordinates, a distance category that I did not previously have before coming to your wonderful country. My only regret is that I only have one full caching day in my schedule. Thanks for the friendly welcome, the advice on where to go, and the cuppa!

Thanks for organising a great event Nibletricecakes, my first GIFF event and had a great night!
Thanks NRC for getting this organised...great night.
As for the films, yep, the Aussie who ends up in jail was my pick for the night. As for some other the others...I guess something got lost in translation on some of them. Anyways, a good night was had, great to catch with everyone, especially the overseas visitors from California and Tasmania.

I will be attending this event and hopefully making a whole day out of it as well, grabbing some local caches as they have really sprung out of nowhere in the past 2 years! Will come along with Cankid as well! Thanks for organising, will be my first GIFF event!
I was looking forward to coming to this event but circumstances have interrupted the plans we had pushing them back so we won't be in the area. Have an awesome event.
With a rare weekend off (shift worker) i cant see any reason not too attend. Ill be there possibly accompanied by geo wife and geo son. Looking forward to seeing everyone there
I am hoping to get out here for this ... maybe even find a few caches on my way, depending when/how I get out here ... Going to be a busy weekend for me but I think Sunday afternoon/evening is the only time I don't have anything else already on - good thing the films will be interesting enough to keep me awake - lol
Just noticed this, with a little bit of cheating on our travel agenda we might just be able to make this event
I'm 90 percent sure I'll be able to drop in for this one. Looking forward to a GIFF event. I missed out last year.
We will arrive in Canberra on the day of this event. We will adjust our plans a little so that we can catch up with local cachers and attend our first GIFF event. Thanks Niblericecakes for organising the event.
