Hmm, I wonder if the used both hands ... Anyways, found with MummyPenny on this drizzly day as we travel around SI on our GC Mega tour. Thanks SoBad.
Out with a previous local finder who was kindly driving me around this afternoon, since I am new to Nelson. Nice quick find here, TFTC
An extended long weekend with lots of caching yay! The weather ended up being better than predicted and I had a ball thanks to all CO's!Luckily the bag of apples I got on my way yesterday does not seem to be poisoned! Thanks for a cool puzzle and cache!!South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!
This popped up on my watch list with the recent find and along with a wet day it seemed high time that I should revisit this puzzle.
A bit of googling didn't produce any mathmatical solve so it was out with the spreadsheet and the GSAK map to have a go at brute force. The clues that it was a surprisingly big number from previous logs also helped.
Glad that I had the divisor right but logically I still can't quite decide the practical aspects. It would seem that a lot of skin/body parts would be needed and a very orderly placement of all the apples to achieve the desired outcome.
The song "knees, shoulders, heads and toes" has come to mind
Today was a dot day for my Mystery finds so I ventured out in the inclement weather to make a quick find.
That's the closest unfound mystery from home out of the way. Unfortunately now I have to move on to the two next closest SoBad puzzles. Ugh. The challenge contiinues.

I am still not sure how to solve the puzzle in closed form. I tried a few possibilities and then let the checker do the rest of the work.
At GZ, I saw the cache out in the open, so I hid it a bit better. TFTC.

Snow White is really smart, that was a very clever way to make sure that te party continues.
I had previously looked at this and cache and decided that it belonged to the too hard basket. That was until another the rooster told me it was dowable. so today I put on my thinking cap.
TFTC
PS the logbook is completely disintergrated, I did fiind some spce on a piece big enough for me to log

An easy find at 16h30 on 31 December 2020 once the barrel was found. But to get there was a bit of a mission. There were two lady muggles conversing over the opposite boundary, necessitating us to quickly hunt one cache on the railway reserve. Mr H assisted with determining permutations and combinations of barrelled apples. He then went full mathematical mode to prove his contention, but we were successful after a try or two. Thanks for a great story. The party is on! My last cache for 2020 as it is already nearly 5pm on the last day of the "Covid Year" TFTC.
**Found on our February - March tour around the South Island. Logging back home in Auckland in Lockdown isolation**
We stayed last night at St Arnaud, and this morning travelled to Nelson for a day of signing off on puzzle finals. We got a notification when this puzzle cache was published, and immediately put our minds to work. Loved the story and the logic puzzle. After a little research we were able to figure it out. Cunning puzzle! Great to be able to make the find today, 2 1/2 years later. Adding a Favourite point. TFTC

I had some fun with this one with my colleagues at work when this came out, even more so after I solved it the next day and I knew the answer. It really is quite a mind blowing fact at first glance, but after just a little bit of thought it makes perfect sense. These are the sort of puzzles I like, so a FP from me. TFTC SoBad.
Another day in Nelson/Tasman today, and the aim is to get some bike friendly ones. So I targeted a few trails and loops, then winged the rest of the day. Brightwater was the general area today, as there are also a few COs that I want to increase my find tallies on, and this area was a good start. A handful of DNFs but overall pretty happy with about 35 found. Thanks all COs.

Rather like Snow White I needed some assistance to solve this dilemma if I was not to be ‘pipped’.
Effortlessly taking the role of Dozy I can confidently state that had I been in charge several guests would not have left the party alive.
Happily though things worked out well in the end and I was able to duck out from work this lunchtime to find cache.
Thanks SoBad

I've tried all sorts of ways to solve this and all of them turned sour. The cache kept bobbing back up so I'd have another go. Finally I had some good looking coordinates. I couldn't believe how busy it was at GZ - it was as though everyone had heard about this party and had turned up for the occasion. Finally no one was in sight - could hear a guy talking on the phone but couldn't see him so in for a quick grab, sign and replace again before anyone else turned up. I was also surprised at how high the number was. TFTC # 13,346
It is the time of year that we are getting busy getting ready for a grandsons birthday and for Christmas, so I had saved finding this cache until now as I knew we would have limited time to go hunting for caches that would take a lot of time.
We had been past previously to suss out where we would need to park to make the most of the cover that would be available and as luck would have it, there was the perfect parking place left empty for us, so a well concealed and quick find was made.
Thanks for the puzzle and thank you for the smiley.

Found with StreetWalker on day one of our long weekend visit to Nelson.
Solved this puzzle a while ago; I didn't fully understand it, but had an idea and luckily it proved to be correct. Today we made a short detour and soon had the cache in hand. Good to get a SoBad puzzle smilefied. TFTC.

I wanted to find a cache today as part of a challenge I've set myself. Well I wanted to find a cache anyway because I can't go too many days without one. I just wouldn't feel right. Plan A involved a walk. Then it rained. I could have gone for a walk in the rain .. had I been a little better prepared. Plan B was a driveby puzzle cache, but when I arrived at my calculated GZ I realised that somehow an error had snuck into my calculations. Back to the drawing board .. well computer printout actually. So this was plan C. I've had the corrected coordinates in the system for some time and I've driven past quite often in the meantime. It was a good feeling to get it signed off at last. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache .
Up from CHCH visiting family in Richmond...and now a couple days in Golden Bay for some exploring. Our couple days in Golden Bay over; this morning we had a few things to visit in and around Takaka before heading back to Richmond. TeWaikoropupu Springs ticked off, Labyrinth Rocks, tick.......Rawhiti caves, tick. Hot as. Time to start heading back to Richmond.....and now we're here! And as we drove along I remembered this puzzle so we made a wee detour before heading back to my sisters.
This was a fun puzzle to solve...my initial approach; although logical yielded a fair few apples! (and a red tick). Hmmm. Mrs TG, what do you think?? and she soon cottoned on (even though she didn't fully understand it!...and a green tick. Woohoo. A detour was made for a quick find and sign. Coolness. Thanks for the cool puzzle and hide. Appreciated. Last cache of the day. Cheers.

Another nice day in Nelson so it is time to get a few more caches of my to-do list. Caches like Virtuals, A Wherigo or two, some solved Puzzles, afew qualified Challenges and the odd Trad thrown in the haul.
This is another solved puzzle signed off for this visit to Nelson.
Cheers for the cache, SoBad.

After four weeks away from Nelson it was surprising to come home to so many puzzle caches needing to be solved. I initially thought of a number of different ways Snow White may have been thinking to solve this one, but ultimately there was one method that stood out. My first attempt looked promising but the Checker didn't agree. Thinking about it a bit more and the next attempt gave me the green tick so the opportunity to make the find after work couldn't be passed up. Thanks for the puzzle and cache which is worth a Favourite.
Had a wee nudge for this one
Enjoyed doing the puzzle
Arrived at GZ and it wasn't long before I was signing the log
Thank you SoBad for the cache and puzzle

An intriguing tale and puzzle that I'm guessing could be solved logically as well as mathematically. For me it was the later and although I had a feeling the answer would related to a certain number I wouldn't have thought that the 'certain number' would be so large. Maths is a funny thing sometimes. On my way back from a ride with Dad today so detoured to gz to make the quick find.
Thanks SoBads for the cache.

Eventually got a logical conclusion and a green tick from all my possibles and workouts! Nice simple park and grab at the end. TFTc.
Last puzzle cache of the day, a modest 4 today, and nearlly time to wend our weary way back over the hill. The solve was really hard to come by for me, I went for a traditional (for me) style, though others had a different method so I gather. Fitting final place and signed and replaced as found. T F T P and C SoBad.
This weekend is the weekend that Father's Day falls on so it's all about me, sort of. With mrs capperz working on Sunday we decided that a trip 'over the hill' (for a change!) would be the plan with lunch out, a walk to the 'Centre of NZ' and a few caches to round out the treat. So setting off at 0930 and with a few target caches to try and get whilst over this way we had a pleasant day here and met all/most targets. Luch at McCashins, a few k-n caches, the new Virtual cache and some awesome views - thanks Nelson.

Had the right method for solving this straight away but couldn't get geochecker to agree. Today sat down and hand writ out possibilities. Part way through saw where I had been going wrong (a little underestimating) and the green tick was obtained. Headed straight out because you don't want those bad apples around too long. Thanks for the puzzle and thanks for the cache.
Nice one! When this was published I had a look at it and was completely stumped. I couldn't get my head around the logic in this puzzle at all. I tried a guess and hope approach which didn't work and then attacked the problem a bit more systematically. Yesterday, I found something useful which eventually led to the correct solution. This morning a simpler approach came to me which would have yielded the same result. Doh! I'll blame the cold I'm recovering from for brain cell degradation. Today - time to head out and find the cache. A nice simple park and grab at GZ too. TFTC, Biggles.
FTF with Hazedarus.
Well that was interesting, I have no idea how this is meant to be solved but tried something and got numbers which matched another solver's (who likely got them using the correct method), then put them in google maps which gave me confidence to try the checker. Yay, success even though I can't explain why.
Maybe one day I'll learn the whys and wherefore of this puzzle, it's obvious Mrs Sobad was never my maths teacher!
After Hazedarus finished his morning shift we made the trip to GZ to sign the pristine log then detoured to buy some (unpoisoned) apples on the way home again.
Thank you SoBad.

FTF With Holymu. I just didn't have a chance. Came home after the early shift for breakfast and was asked if I wanted to go for a possible FTF. Given a chance it would have been slow progress for me if at all. No problem with the find though. Thank you SoBad
