# 9538 Back in WA for a bit from Canberra. It always feels like summer when I'm here. We'll be travelling between Perth, Albany/Denmark and Margaret River over two weeks. While it's not a geo-trip, I should still be able to grab a few. This one did not open easily. I wondered if my trusty 9v battery had thrown in the towel, but with some persistence it finally released. Thanks roymerc for the Mystery Cache
Found the cache under the bull frog but i think our battery is dead as it wouldnt unlock to drop out the log book
Another great BYOB cache thank you roymerc. Im kinda wishing there was a view of the inlet from the Heritage Trail though - although it is a very nice trail to stroll along.
#5771 Continuing on the trail with the geohounds we had soon arrived at the mad hutter. After initialling applying the battery nothing, repeat and again no action. We then applied a tickle as per the instructions and bingo! the container revealed itself! It has been awhile since having this much fun involving a battery and a tickle! Thanks again roymerc, FP awarded.
Day #5. My last minute WAGB adventure continues today! Road tripping again. Ive now met up with Posums in Albany and we are off today on the much anticipated roymerc trail. Fun times ahead. It was the tickle approach for us also today which got the job done. The effort to out these caches in place is not lost on me. Well worth another favourite.A big thanks goes to roymerc for taking the time to add BYOB #17 : the Mad Hutter Strikes Again! to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! The fun just never stops.Have you logged your will attend for Victoria's first ever Block Party? (Think Mega but even more special!)Join us on 22-23 March 2025 in Sunbury to celebrate 25 years of geocaching by logging your will attend at [**GCAP417**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).
Found by Mary and David at 15:25. D did the long walk, while M stayed in the GeoPrado to rest and listen to classical music. Another FP. Thought our 9v battery was still in god shape but, after a while without na result, he resorted to the "tickle" approach, which worked as advertised. Right up there with the other BYOBs wev'e found over the years. Our thanks to roymerc.
Find number 13831 at 10:46:05AM on Monday the 9 September 2024We're on our way to WA Goes Big, travelling from Croydon (Melbourne, Victoria) with a caravan in tow and making a leisurely caching holiday across the Nullarbor and back.Today is our last full day in Denmark, tomorrow we bug out west again, not sure where, we'll work that out on the road. Today is about getting those last few geocaches and visiting a couple of touristy things.Back on the road with the misses this time and parked out at the new estate and for a pleasant stroll along the rail trail for another quick find.**Thanks for placing this cache roymerc**---*WOW, so much happening here in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
I thought my battery =was dying, but then I thought "No it has only done a few". I eventually got the goods with the tickle trick, and all was in order. Thanks for the cache.
Cunning hiding spot our battery only gave a small burst of charge but that did the job
Found at 2:45 PM GAFF1.So this was a bit of an epic adventure! We were going to do this cache on the bike tomorrow, but found that we could get to this one fairly easily after doing "Rural Fishing" Took a bit of a bush bash of 250 metres to get to it and then it was - what the heck is supposed to happen now? No "click" of acceptance of the "charge"! No drop of anything to display the log book - nada! So after all of this effort to get here what do I do now? Well I started to do the "fiddle down under" maneuver and low and behold felt something odd and then the log book just appeared right there! Wonderful, fantastic, what a relief! Thanks to roymercFeedback: A can of WD40, Innox and some lithium grease could stop any future heart pulsations of cachers who have gone to extremes to avoid having to walk a long distance to find a wonderful cache that will be told to many caching friends in the future
I'm not sure what this means long term, but ever since we arrived in Denmark we're starting to see things from a battery's perspective. And here in this random place was the exact spot to put our new 9 volt. Bam! cache in hand. Caching is so much easier where there are no muggle issues.. TFTC roymerc.
These picnic huts are all beautiful and just remote enough away from the trail so that we can have a play around with our batteries, and not be worried by prying eyes. We found the golden Bell frog, who is looking a little faded these days and with a bit of time soon had that bang and the crafty container in our hands. At this point, we decided to turn around on our walk and approach some more of this series from another part of the Trail. The walk itself has been absolutely beautiful on a sunny and mild morning with spectacular views along the way. Thanks roymerc for the enormous effort you have put into these creations. Each one is unique and fun!Domsky
Another great contraption in a great series. Really an inspiring series for future cache projects. Tftc FP added
Another amazing geocache by an awesome geocacher! We did need to give this a little tickle but brilliant as always!Thank you roymerc for placing and maintaining BYOB #17 : the Mad Hutter Strikes Again! (and all your amazing caches!) for us and others to find and enjoy! Love the play on words! Fave point for sure!
What is so good about cacheing.Walking into the unknown, with cool caches tooSo many caches, so little time, which do we chooseCanetoads and cockroach on holidays in the West TMac61 and Bliss BabyTFTC
Another fun cache, had a few connection issues but eventually had the prize. Loving the walk among the pathway but have non muggle family with us who dont walk anymore so we have to balance how many we can get . I'll be back
Found it TFTC Found in good condition. Yep just a little tickle and a table to write on
Getting our steps up today and being thrilled by the awesome caches. We had a bit of a discussion on how this one would have been set up initially. Some ripper hides. Fav pt Tftc
TftcBit scared about what could be hiding around the cache but after a group effort and a phone torch it revealed itself!
We met a fellow geocacher when we were staying at Narrogin who mentioned these caches. I rembered the name Denmark and as we happened to be going through here I mentioned that there were a few caches I would like to find. So we arrived at camp and got out the bikes to do a a bit of a ride and collect a few of these caches. This one was our first so didn't see the two terminals at first but we got there in the end. This is unlikely to get muggled. Thanks for the cache
Well no bang! However the goods were delivered but he did need a tickle. Thought that was a joke, but it brought success!A great spot for a late morning tea. A great shame Mr Riddell is working hard in Melbourne and not here as her is an electronics technician. He would be thrilled!TFTC another favorite coming your way.
Our 4th BYOB find. The access is blocked by huge branches and climbing is the only way in. Need to tap the device a bit to release the log. Lots of mozzies around. TFTC!
Its our last day in Denmark today, so we got up early to do the trail along the inlet. We didn't factor in the local Parkrun though, so it was busier than normal. We found the hut at GZ had a fallen tree across the doorway so we had to climb in. Makes the terrain rating a little higher haha. Our batteries wouldn't work on this one, but Mr C managed to get the log out and we signed and replaced. Thanks for the fun roymerc.
After a spot of morning tea, we continued on the path. Mr Parko got into where he needed to be to access the cache, but didn't seem to work for us. Not to worry, still got the log out and signed. Thanks roymerc
Another great cache along a beautiful walking path. Unfortunately a tree has fallen down and blocked the entrance to the cache. If someone coming next can bring a small bow saw or similar, they could soon open up the entrance. I had to jump over the wall. TFTC
Out on a Denmark geocaching trip today. After hearing so much about these caches I was very excited to finally be able to find them! TFTC, roymerc!
This was an awesome cache that was very well made, thank you for the effort put in to make it. Fav from me
In WA for 3 days, so I decided to hire a car and head south from Perth and drive around the wheat belt and back up the coast line. Day 2, after staying in Albany for the evening I headed off towards Busselton, first stop was Denmark to try and find all of the BYOB and a few other before making my way along the back roads finding a few caches along the way before caching around Busselton in the evening.
Thanks for the cache

All good here..cache accessed quickly thanks to the byob..cache and log in excellent condition tftc
Tftc, log is all full, didn't have anything to replace it with but did sharpen the pencil inside!
No end to the mad hutter fun! Another memorable well built cache that was found as where else could it be?? Out and about on trusty treadles AKA the MTB that goes where I go. Home is some 3500 kms EAST and word had travelled I should look out for roymerc caches. Well - look out I did so I'm on a mission to discover why word has travelled the continent. Each of these have been clever quirky fun creative and sometimes hilarious BYOB gadgets - created to no doubt put a smile on the dial. Certainly built for longevity all hiders should take note - I have! TFTC and the memorable FUN!! Thinking this deserves a fave!!
The showers have gone away and it is time for a long stroll. Took a while to find this cache. The tickle was necessary. Time for one more cache.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

On road trip through Western Australia with my muggle friend! Stopped in Denmark today, so we did a little walk looking for nice caches. We had great fun with the BYOB series! Thanks roymerc for creating these creative containers! TFTC!!
Thanks for the cache. Needed a little jiggle for it to drop out. On to the next one
After a few years away from WA I decided to return and visit family living in the south west.
It had always been a goal of mine to visit Roy Merc territory and today I feel blessed that I have had the opportunity to be here amongst some of the great caches offered.
I will spend NYE and NYD roaming the area collecting RoyMerc caches. It is why I decided to head down this way.
Hmmm….that took a bit of jiggling. But eventually I made it! A crafty little hide to boot made this out of the way cache a lot of fun.

Found it and after a few jiggles we got it. Logged it and left. TFTC anther favourite from me
What a great hiding spot! We got it out pretty quickly but had a chat afterwards about what it would have taken to install in the spot found with racing stripes, tftc!
We were starting to like the track a bit more here with the taller trees
This one was very stubbon for us too and took a LOT of tickling
TFTC and greetings from Tassie

Everyone keeps saying to go to Demark, so I am. TFTC.
I must have tickled as I eventually got it.

pug002 found it 5/2/22 another warm day trekking along after the watch and act at the caravan park last night. TFTC roymerc another one of your geniuses. fav
TFTC Roymerc, found on a big walk, checked out the shelters & met some other walkers. Finally had the cache in hand. Both it and the log are in good condition.
While the interstate travel is still a bit iffy we decided to spend the time touring southern WA.
We had a nice lunch and refreshments at the nearby brewery and decided we needed to walk it off and what better than a walk along the waters edge.
WE reached GZ and I found where to put the battery but nothing happened. I tried another battery I had brought along and still nothing happened. I looked a liltle further and found the cache so I jiggle it a bit while connecting the battery and out it popped out.
This was find number 8 for the day.

Needed that little tickle, but it did its thing and we signed the log and replaced back to normal ready for the next finder, TFTC
While waiting for the other team member to arrive to assist with BYOB#6 Mrs Y'stassie walked on to this one. After a short search she located the dots she needed, fished out her battery and applied it. Nothing happened so she positioned herself for a long wait battery in place. A few minutes passed and still not bang and no container. The mosquitos were moving in in battalions so opening this cache as quickly as possible was now a matter of urgency.
Take two. Time to reread the cache information. Aaha something had been overlooked. She made a thorough search and located some things of interest. Battery back in place, a few gentle taps and the container magically appeared. Log unrolled, signed and carefully rerolled everything was returned to starting position.
Mrs Y'stassie was amazed by the work that had gone into the construction and placement of this cache. The attention to detail and professional finish of each cache found in this series is truly astonishing.
Thanks for this cache Roymerc. We agree that it would be very hard for this cache to be muggled. Another favourite point has been added.

Catching up on some missed logs from when I was down at WAGB2021.
Not sure how I missed four epic caches, such a shame to see that they have been impacted due to storm damage. Cheers roymerc!

Somewhere between day 170 and day 180 since we left home and stated our ‘lap year’. Half way in our original time estimation we are not even close to half way around the country, Tassy and SA are done (still plenty to go back and see) …hmm I guess we won’t be ‘home’ for Christmas….oh well… (shhh don’t tell the grandparents)… or maybe we could freight the children home for Christmas? ! Geogranni would like that!
Perhaps if I/we stopped looking at so many amazingly stunning rocks, trees and beaches we wouldn’t be taking so long…then there are the flowers, old things and street art that keeps catching our attention.. maybe it’s the Geocaches… what ever it is, we are having a bloody brilliant time and I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thanks for being one of the awesome caches we found around Denmark this week, a big shout out to the Geocachers of Denmark, some outstanding caches that has us considering some more power trails (generally avoid them) just to get enough Fav points together to award for all these fabulous caches!
