WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 20 - Norseman to Esperance via salmon Gums and Grass Patch. For what seemed like a short day driving, it seemed to take a long time. I did not even do all the side trips I had in my provisional plan. The highlight of the day was the brick works behind Salmon gums. I saw a few enjoyable locations as I went and was happy to reach my destination in the mid afternoon, allowing a bit of time to visit some shops and spend an hour or so at the local bar overlooking the dark bay.The effort for this dam, and the covering looked amazing. I am so impressed by what was achieved here. It seems a pity it is no longer in use. At least the cache was found here without any issues. Thanks for the cache Zane and Bianca46757.5 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2007 Australia Black A#82**Albida**

I actually found the cache 9/1/2023 but didn't have a pen to write in the log. As I was travelling up to Kalgoorlie and back each week for a month I thought I would be able to go back and write my name - but each time I passed by I didn't have time to run in again. This is one of my favourite caches so far - I'm very new to geo caching. Very interesting to see the old dam. Thanks for the cache here as I wouldn't have know it was here otherwise. A quick find. I saw something similar a bit further up the road last year but wasn't sure what it was at the time. Because of the information with the cache I now know. Thanks

A trip to Perth checking out some of the awesome places along the way in ACT, NSW, Qld and NT. Grabbing some old caches and missing LGAs. TFTC.
Looks to be a fan turned into a tank. Interesting.
Road in was fine for my small caravan.

Out and about again, a visit north in nabbing another LGA (Dundas) and get a few around Salmon Gums. Covered a few km’s and found 13 caches.

Found a variety of hides and in different areas which made for a nice day. Generally quick finds today

Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides I found.

Adelaide to Perth Roadtrip.
Day Four: Madura to Grass Patch.
Weather: showers!!

A brisk walk from the highway, another track that looked way too risky to consider driving on after rain. A quick find and cache is in good condition.

Thanks for all these caches Zane and Bianca; I wouldn’t have had much to do today if not for all your work.

Trip down to the coastal towns of Bremer bay and Esperance. Great to get out and explore. Had to chase a few extra KM by heading up towards Norseman to help add to the cache find count also.

Thanks to the local COs for some interesting caches and some even better locations. TFTH

Fav point here

After rolling out the swag last night in the rain at Thomas River in the Cape Arid NP, I headed on to Esperance quite early, hoping to get up to Norseman and on the Hyden Road by tonight. But as is so often the case, with me at least, I got sidetracked and didnt even make it as far as Norseman! No surprise really, given that I wasn’t even planning to come down this way on this trip.

The weather has been woeful for the last day or so. It bucketed down last night and has rained on and off for most of the day. Great for the farmers, but not quite so great when you are camping. Looks like more rain as I set up camp tonight.

I love these old covered dams you find around WA.

Thanks Zane and Bianca for the cache.

Add fav for location love this style of cache

Had a trip out to The historic ghost town of Gwalia planned for some time now and with the wife keen to check out some of the ghost towns and various ruins throughout the goldfields it was sure to be a great trip.

We travelled to Kalgoorlie and then upto Gwalia where we stayed at Hoover House, which is the old mine managers house for the sons of gwalia mine and offered great views of the pit.

We took a day trip out to Laverton and Leinster with a small detour to grab a few caches along the great central road. After our detours from Leonora we dropped back into Kal and down to Esperance for the last night of our trip.

A great trip away and thanks for all the caches along the journey. Thank you to the COs for their caches.

Travelling around and doing some caching with goingplaces2, brought us to this area as we headed towards Esperance. Interesting history. TFTC.

08-Dec-18
We were on our way today on a southward route towards Esperance, with ilook4geo. What we found here was another interesting historical site associated with the use and care of water. Caching has come to the fore again, in showing some of the past that we would not have found or visited otherwise. Thanks again to Zane and Bianca for bringing these sorts of areas to our notice by placing caches at them.

30-Nov-18
This is another place we would not have known about if we
were not Geocachers. On this trip we have seen so many
wonderful places. The last time we were here in WA we did
not know what a cache was. This Dam is a credit to the old
Pioneers who used logic to protect what water they had.
Made a nice quick find here as our time today was fast
running out for us.

Thanks Zane and Bianca for another great place to visit.

We have been travelling since January when we left Geelong and travelled up the centre to Darwin and crossed the border into WA in May
We completed the gibb river road and cape leveque and since Broome we have zig zagged from coast to inland and we have seen and done some amazing things
We have lived every aspect of WA, what an amazing state

Found by Mary & David at 0840. Just an incredible sight. A few hints of wattle and some amazing salmon gums. That must have been an impressive roof when it was in good repair. Our thanks to Zane and Bianca.

Third day of our 'loop' trip following the wildflowers and grabbing some caches along the way.
Had intended to stay in Esperance a few days but the weather was foul and hail forecast and much the same for the next few days so decided to head for Kalgoorlie. Love this type of caching - learning the history of the area and being in the country. Thanks Zane and Bianca

An interesting spot. Thank you

I am spending a couple of days in the goldfields for work, and as I am travelling around I am grabbing the odd cache or two.

I just love this part of the world and today was no different. Perfect weather for a drive from Kalgoorlie to Esperance.

I had been watching this one, and another nearby for a little while, and was pleased to see that they were still unfound this morning.

Drove right to within 2m of GZ. Quickly spotted the hide. Opened up to a blank log.

Looks like no one has found this one yet so we thought we might get a FTF however we couldn't pull over safely and the tracks don't look caravan friendly. Hope someone finds it soon.
