About a 3 month ago I started collecting the info at both waypoints. The first one was obvious and cool to have the old date still visible. The second one was a real surprise and took me a while to find but good coords and persistance looking in all directions had me made the surprising find. Very cool and well spotted!!

Did the calculations and continued to collect other caches and info making my way towards the crossing. I had forgotten my water shoes even though I knew what to expect. After collecting the information for this caches cousin near the crossing I decided the water was a bit too high to try the crossing.

Now I finally did get my opportunity to sing the log. A photo is attached. The container is not at GZ anymore as StarsAlign took it along to repurpose. This was a great multi with these special discoveries along that road and (in a normal year) a fun crossing most of the time. Thank you STORMCATCHERS for putting the cache! A very nice one.

FINALLY !!!!! Smile At least I made it in the "Top ten finders" as printed on the log sheet. (Though here on line there seems to be 10 before me ??).

So YES FINALLY, after the cache was bulldozed, relocated numerous times, checksums varied & not updated and to top it off, the cache has definitely been underwater. BUT, cache is in perfect condition where it is now!!!!

A pleasant day wandering around out there doing some hill work in the 5ºC air. nice!
Thanks.

No luck AGAIN. Difficult to search the base of anything with so much flood debris around, but we certainly removed a lot of it, but still no prize. Saw 3 fellow mountain bikers out there today.

Time to head out and check again. Disabling to save potential frustration.

**This Cache**
Plan 'C' today was to pickup this cache that we DNF last year. We did a short walk from the locked gate to the river crossing. The river was raging over the crossing and looked impassable. We walked downstream but it looked even more turbulent, difficult and too dangerous to cross. With the cache just 30m across the river neither of us wanted to give up. We went back to this crossing, stripped down, made four walking sticks and waded thigh deep with concrete under barefeet in the freezing cold water that stung/ached our legs from one end of the 40m length to the other. We looked a picture with our boots wrapped around our necks as we needed our feetprotection if we were to search for the cache. We were not leaving until we had the cache in hand. We found the cache 4m from our GZ in a sneaky hide after about 10mins - fantastic. The icy water pain back across the River was all worth it with the cache found. Back to the car for lunch and hatched a Plan 'D'.

**Our Day**
Plan 'A' today was to target just one cache 'SATURATE (ACT Investigate)'. However, we arrived at the gate late morning and it was blowing a gale. With 20+ kms of cycling/walking and 500+ m of ascent/descent to complete, and be back to the car by dark, it didn’t look like a good start. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. So, we hatched Plan 'B', 'C' then finally a Plan 'D' in the order we were heading back home.

Plan 'B' - a lovely brisk walk from the locked gate down to the Cotter Dam's water edge to pick up a puzzle cache, 'Numberland 8 ...', we resolved/completed yesterday. It was a 3km brisk return walk in just 35 minutes with only 85m of ascent/descent. Loved this new view of the dam water this far down.

Plan 'C' - back with updated coordinates for this cache, 'Storm Catchment III', we did a short walk from the locked gate to the river crossing.

Plan 'D' - yep, two new Tankengine caches along the Molonglo R. close to home for which we can ride our mountain bikes . Started from the trail off Coppins Crossing Road, closish to Butters Bridge, to get a nice long cycle. Started the 'Road Less Travelled Wherigo' to finish another day. Headed straight to the two Tankengine caches and picked up some DSD caches as a bonus, mainly on our way back home. Cycled 3kms on track, then locked our bikes in the bush and went cross country on foot for a further 3.5kms to reach our two target caches. 'Magnificent Molonglo' cache has scarily good views.

Walked the river views to GZ then the quicker cross country way back to our bikes. In total we cycled/walked 13+kms over 3 hours with 415m of ascent/descent. Yes, I think we’re ready for Plan 'A' tomorrow.

DOUBLE ARRRGGGHHHH, No wonder we couldn't find it today. Just happened to be in the area
unexpectedly so decided to finally pick it up as we had the coordinates in our GPS that we had calculated back in May this year.

We took our socks and shoes off, had a refreshing walk across the river, took lots of photos, re shoed and re socked before taking more photos then started the big search but no cache. We then decided to read the logs to discover that the location had changed. We expanded our search but no luck GRRRRRRR. De shoed and de socked again for a beautiful knee high walk (in parts) back across the river - GREAT FUN.

AND this was a great place to visit particularly the fabulous trout run, flowing water and lush green shrubs and grasses all around. Just beautiful compared the rest of the surrounding bush. Well worth visiting despite not finding the cache so we will be back some other time.

Many thx for bringing us here and the very reason why we really enjoy caching to find these wonderful place. Now that we are back home and recalculated GZ we just can't believe how close we were when we expanded our search area. Well, we are now ready for next time should we happen to be in the area again and ready for the same fun all over again. TFTL (location) STORMCATCHERS

AARRRGGGHHHH, No wonder I couldn't find it, after TWO separate sessions both lasting 1 hr each! (And I had the (then) correct coords, and hint, for the 1st shift!!!!!)

OK, Take 3. (or take III)

A very early start followed by another terrific day of hiking the Cotter catchment with the unfailingly excellent IamCoust. Great company, great walking, great weather, great views, not too many blackberries, and my first snake of the summer - what's not to love?

The first point of this walk, on a mission to avenge a previous DNF (when the cache was missing, having been bulldozed into oblivion). Just as on the previous visit, a river crossing was required, though it did seem marginally less cold than last time (although it was still incredibly cold by anyone's standards and IamCoust and myself are certainly amazingly robust and resilient chaps for having handled it with the dignity and grace that we did). Fortunately this time the cache, following its replacement and slight re-placement to clear it from an overly close other cache) was just where it was meant to be and all the icy danger we encountered was worth it. TFTC Smile

Back again with MJW1 to avenge a previous DNF. With renewed confidence, and updated coordinates we eventually found the sneaky sod. The river was just cold as it was last time, we were just a little more prepared. Signed and replaced we moved onto the next objective, not too far away. TNLNSL TFTC

Cache moved to comply with cache saturation guidelines

G'Day

I'm sorry, but your recent move has brought your cache too close to the Physical Waypoint of[GCVQ4V: The Midas touch](http://coord.info/GCVQ4V) and will need to be moved. Please read the following item on [Cache Saturation](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines?expand=1#cachesaturation)

I've disabled this listing for the time being, could you please move it to a new location that fits within the saturation guidelines. Once that is done you may enable the cache.

Rgds,
Matt - Ministro.

Popped past on a lovely spring day for a spot of cache maintenance. Yep, why is it always the way that a cache seems to encourage a new highway. Moved slightly (note offset on Easterly co-ordinates) .
Good to go...

Today with Joolay, dty73 and Tankengine we headed out on a beautiful sunny day out towards this area. Joolay was our driver and did the pick up of us all, there was a plan and a number of caches on the list that were still to be found by one or another of us, well, except for TE who had them all but was able to navigate us along the way!

A lovely day to be out exploring the trails by car with enough walks of different lengths to pass as good exercise through the day too. Up to a few peaks for some spectacular views. A couple of water crossings where the water was deceivingly higher than first thought, my mid thigh crossing first a good wake up for the much higher level of the second... chilly!

We did give this a good search but couldn't locate a cache. Still the location was fun to get to and although chilly it really wasn't as bad as I had expected, just a little deeper!

Cache seems to be missing. We looked and looked but seems to have a lot of work done so maybe that particular spot has been removed.

28-Sep-19
Some slightly clunky but ultimately effective middle-of-the-night messaging led to a terrific early morning of caching with the irrepressible IamCoust. Great company and a brilliant Spring morning - always a winning combination!

Gathering the right information for this was straight forward enough and included the spotting of a nice, healthy looking trout. Near GZ we completed the necessary information gathering for this cache's sibling, removed the boots and rolled up the trousers for an easy but rather chilly (to the point of being painful) crossing of the... ummm... crossing. Sadly, after several minutes of searching we came to the conclusion that GZ was no more, likely removed in some recent earthworks. We could see where it likely had been, but let's just say there was nowhere to hide a cache in what remained...

Spent a great Spring's morning caching around the lower Cotter catchment area with MJW1. An early start due to family commitments kicking in before lunch. While getting the details required posed no issue, the traverse across the river was a little on the cool side. Unfortunately GZ seems to have been bulldozed away, including the cache and the tree it was attached to. Needs CO attention

eeeek, hope this isn't a sign of out attachment mechanism simultaneously failing!
Might have to go have a look.

Started at Waypoint 1 today, got to Waypoint 2 and will complete Waypoint 3 when we are down that way. Loved seeing the 'hidden' history. Kind of adds extra meaning to these crossings each time we will cross them into the future. Watch this space. TFTE STORMCATCHERS

A nice multi in the forest. Gathered WP1 information fine, but had trouble with WP2 as I was looking at a date in the same spot (a very recent one). This gave silly answers, then spotted what I should be using and everything was fine after that.

Got to the crossing and it was flowing well, so off with the boots and across I went. Thankfully only up to my knees (good thing I'm tall). Once on the other side I made the find after checking a few trees.

I tried exploring this way a while ago from the other side, but it was a much longer walk. Good to finally get here and have a look around.

Thanks,

ZQX and I were on a multi mission this morning. After a couple of Weird Weir's we came here. The information was soon collected, but we struck an issue as we approached GZ - a river crossing. Not wanting wet shoes and socks, we crossed in bare feet. The water was up to our knees and it was oh so cold. Once on the other side, it was a quick find then we had to repeat the process to get back. TFTC.

TikvaNZ and I were out west collecting some caches this morning. This was one of three multis that we attempted. We were not 100 per cent sure of one of the numbers at WP1, but went with the most likely one, and that worked. No problems at WP2, except that our checksums were out by one. Hmmm. Suddenly TikvaNZ exclaimed that we were at 148 degrees east, not 149. That explained the checksum problem.
I can imagine how interesting this multi would be in winter or early spring. My legs almost froze at one point. Marmaduke did it at a good time of year. But that made the adventure more of an adventure.

Enjoyable little multi, thank goodness for the check sum for people like me who make simple mistakes. Nice dip in the river on a warm day. TFTC.

Found at 9:49:00 AM

Last time I tried this cache the river was up too high to get to GZ. Today I still got wet, but not too bad. That sure is a substantial cache container. Easy enough to spot when you know what you are looking for.

Thanks STORMCATCHERS

Having just recently acquired a fancy new 4x4 caching accessory I decided my caching RDO was a good chance to give it a go on some of the tracks up in the "brindies" I not sure I really gave it much of a work out on this road and could have easily accessed it with the former "caching corolla" but hay that's not the point........
Any way back to the geocache. It was interesting to see the old and new dates on the bridge. I wonder if they cut out the old bit and cemented it in or it was in a convenient location. Really liked the second location and most likely will take the children back for a swim.
At the final location I discovered this cache is better suited to a hot day. Very cool.
I got a change to come here with the children before they closed the road from the other way. Now that I see that the gate is only 200 meters away I'll be bringing them back for a picnic.
Thanks for the cache T&A. Always enjoy doing a multi and this was a good one!

Chooo ooo [FTF] on a beautiful afternoon, just when I was thinking I needed some fresh air and exercise! I already knew the answers at WP1 Smile, but double checked, just to make sure they hadn't changed! Then off to waypoint 2, where the answer again was easily found. GZ seemed to put me at a familiar spot, but waypoints for another cache were closer, so I collected those along the way. After that, a little pain was experienced, but hey - what's a great cache without a little pain Smile! Thanks for bringing me back here SCs, favourite from me!
