Found by The Empire + H and the gang!Leaving Bright, we headed towards Mount Buffalo, eager to explore its renowned lookouts and the historic chalet. The drive was spectacular, with the road winding through dense forests and offering glimpses of dramatic granite cliffs. As we climbed higher, the air became cooler, and the views more breathtaking. After exploring the gardens near the chalet, we made our way to the Crystal Brook Falls Lookouts. The trail led us through a mix of towering eucalyptus trees and dense undergrowth, the sounds of birds and the distant rush of water guiding us along the way. As we approached the lookouts, the sound of the waterfall grew louder, and soon the falls came into view. From the lookout points, Crystal Brook Falls cascaded dramatically over the cliffs, the water glistening in the sunlight. The falls plunged into the valley below, carving its path through the rugged terrain. The lookout offered an incredible vantage point, allowing us to take in the full scope of the falls and the surrounding alpine landscape. The cool mountain air and the beauty of the falls made it a perfect way to round off our exploration of Mount Buffalo. Thanks for the cache Clever Monkey.-M
2 August 2024 14:57 Looking for caches in the snow is an awesome experience, and I am so glad dalerious agreed to come up here and experience it with me.We found the cache in excellent condition and took a tb with us from it.Thank you Clever Monkey .
Found In the snow 2 August 2024 3:02pm.Well almost. We didnt have to dig it out of its hide, but we did have to reach over the white stuff to get to it. When catnap777 and I came up to Mt Buffalo, our greatest wish was to find a cache in the snow. Mission seccess, and with a bit of a hint gleaned from the previous finder's log, we acheived that again here. [^]TFTC Clever Monkey.
Go up, our coords had us much lower. Wet and rainy. First time caching with umbrella but always good to do something different on a birthday.. left TB
Spent the labour day long weekend out exploring the Mt buffalo area.Did quite a few walks in the area and saw many great sites.Braved the heat too.TFTC
Great spot here. Rivals the top easily. Had to make the find quick whilst with the kids. Back down to enjoy the views once more before leaving.
Tag along and I had the chance to visit Bright for a few days and used the bikes provided to ride around the township. This was one of the caches we tackled on our trip to Mount Buffalo.A short walk here indeed . Tagalong and I took in the views before finding the cache. All good here thanks Clever Monkey
Wedding anniversary weekend sightseeing around the area. Picked this one up after walking to the Falls from the Chalet. Took a little longer than expected. GPS a little out but we got it in the end.
Found with nissan65 . Started our walk from Mackies lookout up to the chalet. Beautiful day for it. Nice quick find. Thanks for your contribution to geo caching
I always make it over to see these falls every time I'm up visiting the chalet. I only looked for caches here for the first time and this was a quick scramble and a lovely spot to sitThanks for getting me up here
After 14 years of living in Albury, I have never ventured up this way. All up 14 caches, 1 DNF, a few not attempted, an adlab, and 10kms of hiking. All up a great day out finished with a pub meal on the way home. Tftc jamin.
I was completing the AL and walked further down the trail to this cache, the waterfall looked amazing

The OSHFAM clan are up here in our shack in Porepunkah. After attending the Mega in Rutherglen on the weekend, the next few days were spent looking for caches around Porepunkah and Buffalo. I had my daughter and a muggle friend with me today.
After a day of adventures on the mountain, it was time to make our way down but not before stopping for one last cache. A bit of a scramble up the rocks and the cache was found.
The falls were beautiful.

Oh very awesome. I love your small cave. And I am completely overwhelmed by the beauty of this place. What a wonderful area to find a Geocache. This was the only one I had time for today. Cannot wait to come back.

It look a bit of a search but we were determined to get a smiley at Mt Buffalo so we persisted and found this one.
You nearly had us DNFing due to the nav bouncing but we saw a very helpful photo. TFTC
Heading to Mt Buffalo today with LittleBoss2. This was a quick find after watching a dozen small trout feeding below the bridge. Thanks Clever Monkey
Heading the the Mount Buffalo area today with Bogonghazy. Quick find. Thanks Clever Monkey for placing the geocache beautiful spot and saw plenty of little brown trout
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

Came up to see the view and get a few caches. Amazing location. Signed PDG. Tftc
Thanks for a good excuse to walk these beautiful alpine tracks. Absolutely love these alpine caches. The GPS had me further down, so had to do a few loops and look at a previous photo to realise it was further up the hill than the GPS was telling me. Beautiful spot. TFTC
Today was my day up Mount Buffalo. It rained on and off so everything was wet while searching for the caches. I headed to the bridge and tried to make my way to GZ from there, but the rocks and vegetation were all wet and slippery, so decided not to pursue it. However, by continuing along the track, I found the right way in and once a GZ, the cache was a quick find. Unfortunately, the views today were obliterated by the clouds we were in.
Many thanks to Clever Monkey for the cache.

Today was day nine of our Beechworth and Bright holiday (take two, post the very disappointing escape from Victoria Covid of 2020).
Today we headed up to Mount Buffalo national park, which was an expected treasure. We did four walks, found 3 caches, saw countless views, visited more high spots than I have for a long time, saw some snow patches, and, again - the views were incredible.
This was the first cache - a short, and unexpected diversion from the path, and a great spot for a cache.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Clever Monkey

Out for a hike to burn some Easter chocolates off with Egg Zachary. These have to be some of the best views in Australia around here. All is well with this cache.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Having travelled around Australia and seen many famous sites, this one will rival any of them. The water drop and view from the lookout is spectacular. Thanks for placing a cache here

Managed to do the full loop with my preschooler. Lovely adventure and fun hide. Thanks!
We’re leaving Mt Buffalo tomorrow so we decided to drive over and explore this area this evening. Thank goodness for daylight savings! This was a trickier than expected hide mostly because my iPhone GPS dislikes tree cover…

Headed off to a celebration cache today with Stemicmitsar, this was an apparently must drive by for him due to the chance of a geocoin being dropped in their by a group of dirtbags. Me, happy with whatever was just keen to cache, whilst walking down to GZ I realized that I had been here a very long time ago before caching.
Anyways lucky for Stemicmitsar the coin was still there and another smily was added to the tally.
Shame the views today were miserable.
Thanks for the cache.

Today I was heading to Mount Buffalo for a Celebrations Event with buhfuhguh but it was a must to drive by this one on the way so that we could find the DGS geocoin that had been placed here but even still it was a worthwhile stop even without the coin.
We could see the falls okay but any distance out from the mountain was to be unseen because of the fog cloud that had rolled in.
**Thanks to Clever Monkey for placing this cache.**

This cache caught my eye , I’m familiar with the area as I lived nearby as a young boy but this cache was placed on Mrs Bears Birthday and as we are so close to the date now ,we figured it fitting to do this one and leave a present behind

A quick find here to finish off “The Big Walk” up Buffalo in the company of some muggle friends. Stretching out the legs post Iso has been amazing. Perfect weather for the long weekend. Thanks for the cache
I missed the sign for the Chalet on our way up the mountain. It was fortunate because we were able to drive until the asphalt road stopped. No thanks to google maps which tried to have us on an impossible route where no roads exist. Google thought many of these roads were still closed. Once we ignored google maps, all was well and eventually found ourselves at the Chalet area. Went for a nice hike and this cache was along the way. Made the find after a short search. Coords were spot on for me. TFTC.
Great fun, sadly had no own so we scratched our mark with a stick and charcoal and a stick.... Hope you don't mind. Thanks for the cache.....
Slightly challenging when GPS is 10metre plus out! Perseverance pays and the find was made on this lovely evening TFTC
While camping at Myrtleford for my birthday weekend away we decided on a drive to Mt Buffalo. What a beautiful area to take in the views We parked in the oval and I took the walk. Would have loved to have had time for a dip in the water pool. Took a little while to check out the hidey hole. Cache is in excellent condition and so enjoyed the walk here. Thanks for the cache Clever Monkey
With the weather hotting up, it was time to escape the heat and head for the hills for the weekend. OZREG and I, enjoyed grabbing a few up around the mountains, where I hadn't explored previously. We made some good discoveries, clever hides and had some real adventures, over the weekend and shared some fun and laughs along the way.
Enjoyed the wander in from the road, which followed the stream to the falls. Such a lovely area to explore and take in the views. It didn't take too long before OZREG had the cache in hand. Took TB to continue it's travels.
Thanks Clever Monkey for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

As mentioned by HappyFeet 1, Buffalo and district, we had a lot of fun on a Power Trail series as well as other caches. Yes! Shame a series was archived, but I/We thank all CO's for placement/s.
I cant say enough how much i love being up here, and we still find something new every time. We had seen the start of this walking track before, but hadn't given it a lot of thought. Today we decided to head down and get the cache and what a surprise we got, the falls are gorgeous and the view equally so.
At GZ it took us a little searching at different levels but we got there in the end.

Wow what a view from up here. To find the cache we needed to be mountain goats. It was a bit hard to get to GZ with all the rocks and trees, but we did get there in the end. This is a great walk around the top of the mountain from The Chalet. Sad to see that The Chalet is just left to fade away. Sad Sad Sad. thanks for putting a cache up here. SL. TFTC. Left a calling card and some swaps. Cheers. [:)}
Love finding caches in the snow. Hubby and youngest were quick to find this one. Great location for a cache, we visit the falls most trips up here. Plenty of water pouring over today! Found with Cristabel on our fathers day adventure to the snow. Tftc
Loved the view up here! Thanks for giving us a reason to turn off and explore. Nice easy find with the Wackyweedos after a snow day. TFTC!
This was the last cache of the day today, after a huge haul of three caches found, and a fair bit of bouldering fun.
The day was drawing to a close and the afternoon sun had dipped behind the hills, so I didn't muck around and parked at the closest point for the nice short walk.
There wasn't much water going over the falls today, but enough to put on a small show, by crikey that is one impressive gorge!
After I came at the cache from the RIGHT direction, as opposed to my first attempt, I found the container quicker than expected, but with no help from the stoopid pointing box, and I scribbled my name in the log before going back to the view point for a bit more of a look before heading down the mountain and home.
Thanks Steve for showing me something cool that I hadn't seen before.
Cheers

We had planned this caching day on Mt Buffalo with Team BGF for company at the beginning of last week, and during the week more caches were published in this series along Mt Buffalo Road. We were really spoilt for choice! We were staying at Bright and the BGF Team were in Wangaratta area, and we met at Porepunkah to begin our day together. Having partaken of our tasty salad rolls, washed down with some fizzy cola, it was time to tackle a multi up here that had defeated us a year ago. We found these Falls along the way, so detoured off our path to collect another smiley for the day. SL at 1.10pm TNLN #5232 TFTC Clever Monkey
#3084 We were re-attempting a multi that we failed to find near on 12 months ago with Harrowang. Today we were back again with Harrowang and we grabbed this cache en-route. Still a nice flow in Crystal Brook Creek despite a very dry few months. Such a lovely area, TFTC Clever Monkey.
#14228. Having spied some new caches published last week that happened to be on the road to Mt Buffalo and that seemed to be doable by ordinary caching folk, Robmc and I decided to make a day of it and head to the Buffalo. Another glorious Autumn day up here in the North East and all was right with the world as we enjoyed a great day collecting 14 caches with no DNF's. A nice start with 7 FTF's was a bonus indeed - we even found them after they had been published! Double Bonus!
My favourite cache for the day - what a spot, what fabulous views. Have a favourite point. I truly cannot believe that only 6 people have found this since it was published in January 2016. We parked nearby and made the 100 metre walk over the little bridge with the amazing views and on to GZ. Then the hard work began - our GPSrs did not want to settle at all and we resorted to previous logs and the clue. Still didn't help terribly much but eventually I heard Rob say those magic words "Found It". We were reading 10 metres discrepancy at GZ it seems. Dropped in one of my Vamp paththags today.
Thanks Clever Monkey

Apart from a hit and run on the Underground cache, it has been a while since BettyBoo3747 and I have driven up to the Mt Buffalo Plateau. A few new ones on the way up was just the incentive we needed. A lovely day for views, and it was nice to stop on the way up and admire them all (usually race straight up!)
Not a lot of water in the Crystal Brook today, so the there was no huge amounts of water cascading over the top. A very nice view from the lookout all the same.
We should have stuck to the path a bit longer, but it didn't take too long to get to GZ. Finding the cache was another matter. The GPSr did not want to settle.
We eventually used the clue, to locate the cache.
A nice short walk for this cache. (Now back to the coffee shop for BB's habit!)
Thanks, Robmc.

After successfully completing the Underworld cache a group of us had offered to help BecknMonts have another search to find the first waypoint for Caches of Ice and Fire Quest for North Grove. On my way down the Mountain I couldn't resist stopping to have a look for this one as it was only a short walk from the road. Off I went in my best hiking thongs and soon was at what I thought was the GZ. But as I started looking, my radar on my smartphone GPS was directing me further away. By the time it settled down again I found the cache a good 15m from my initial start point but with a final accuracy of less than 1m! On the way back I had a quick look and took some pics from the lookout and was greeted with another magnificent view. Thanks Clever Monkey for hiding a cache in a great location that didn't take too long to find! Cheers
Nice location. Worth the walk from the lookout. Had a little trouble with gps accuracy. BYO pencil. TFTC
Another cache up on the mountain today in a place that I have never been, and to be honest never knew was here. We have stopped at the chalet many times but never made the walk down this way. We managed to find a park much closer than the chalet and made the short walk in and found the cache quickly. Unfortunately for Darcy here were many tears here. I tried to hold a branch back to give her a clear path but the branch snapped and come back and hit her in the face. Even with all the tears the view that we got from the lookout was one of the most photographic I have seen on the mountain, and of course all I had was my phone. Thanks for the cache Clever Monkey.
I was on my way out and back down to Melbourne, but I knew I couldn't leave Buffalo without seeing the Gorge area. I'd only been past here once before. Well, I left the path too soon on this one, then went back onto the path, then around.
Once in place, the cache itself was easily found, and it's a beaut area. Thanks for the cache.

After seven months, we have finally got the chance to come back to Mt Buffalo. A quick find in a nice location. TFTC
Thanks for this cache, it's an unexpected and welcome first to find in a beautiful area. Definitely worth a fav point.
