Massive caching days continue. My online logs do not match with days found simply because I cant keep up with online logging sorry. My alliance of 5 all from WA are three young fit boys and two less young ladies who try to keep them honest. We have been up trees and ladders way more than I like and, like all geocachers who insist on wearing shorts in hot weather, our legs are ripped to shreds from hiking. Logging WAC since the three boys usually cache with a fourth called the Cockburn Crew based on their LGA. Having an almost totally cleared map locally, its difficult to explain the excitement of having a map that has caches literally everywhere. Ive cached in Canberra once with my partner and also at the Queanbayen mega but theres still so many to find. Long days and during the few hours allocated to sleep Im so sore I barely sleep anyway. Thanks so much for your contribution to making the days so exhausting and enjoyable. Much appreciated!

Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14757, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to Aykayem for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Aykayem! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)

22-Jan-24
New container, new log book, same hiding place - all good to go SmileI also picked up a pile of rubbish from around GZ ... yuck ... schools are such filthy places ...

21-Jan-24
Sounds like the container has reached the end of its useful life. I will pop in and replace this when I am going past ... possibly even tomorrow, if I remember to find/organise a new container/log/etc. tonight Smile

1st 10Parked at the tennis courts as a good central point for a few caches in the area that I planned to grab. A quick find amid 3 ant bites and a mark made on the sodden logbook. The cache container has two large splits that mean there is no water security at all.TFTC Aykayem and the pudding.

Nice cab hidden within the trees

31-Jan-23
I did an early pre school, pre work and pre travel dash to this cache. Easy find - it was out in the open. I pushed it back to what looked like it's original hide and added a bit of natural camouflage.

I thought this might be an appropriate cache for the start of the 2023 school year.

So many spider webs on the side opposite to the cache as I discovered

01-Jan-22
All fixed, and good to go - Yesterday (the last day of the year) I finally decided it was time to check on this cache ... so, On my way past (from the Geocaching event to the shop, and then here (in Greenway) where I saw the new year in) - I parked in the school car park, and wandered along beside the fence, replacement cache in hand ... I found the original container, but the only things it contained were 2 snails, and a heap of snail poo - which appeared to be composed of ... paper - most likely the log! I am not sure how they could have got in there with the lid on, or why anyone would find the cache with the lid off (or on, for that matter) and leave the snails in there when they put the lid back on ... weird ... lol
Anyway, I put the logbook, pencil, and the one item of swag that I had put in the "replacement" into the original container, and re hid it where I had originally put it (about 50cm away - around the other side of the (now not so tiny) tree ...
Someone's log mentions that they expected to find the cache up a tree (because I have a reputation for hiding caches up in trees - lol) but when I hid this cache, the tallest plant at this corner was about 1m high - lol - things serm to have grown rather a lot since then Smile
btw - I am still officially in the position (Science Assistant) at this school, but I have not set foot inside the fence since I walked out the door, just before I hid this cache ... but ... after 3¼ years at a primary school, doing a job I liked, I am now in another "temporary alternate placement" not at a school, but doing a job I also like a lot (in fact I will be very happy if they "forget" about me, and leave me there for a few years Smile

Photo = the lovely old Gum tree nearby (up near the fence) ... was nice to catch up with an "old friend" Smile

I had waited for the right opportunity to head to this cache. An evening with some time to spare with not too much nearby traffic and darkness. I was actually quite impressed with my logging. Signing the log in the dark by feel alone before checking by torchlight. Not bad! Thanks AKM for the cache!

After spending the early afternoon grabbing a collection of caches from Black Mountain it was time to head back towards home... but im sure I can grab a couple on way home right...

After grabbing a well earned drink from the nearby servo this was detour #2 and having attended the nearby edu-cache-on establishment this was where I expected it to be. Used to get to school this way before they installed the prison fencing

After a massive day at the monster garage sale K8tybee and I were out and about looking for a daily cache. The first 3 proved to difficult, so I was particularly grateful when K8tybee spotted this one from a way off. Almost at the end of my chalchalchal. Can’t wait! Thanks for the cache.

I found myself at Canberra High this afternoon to take a look at the Canberra Bonsai Society's annual Bonsai show, with my mother being a member and exhibitor.
After spending some time examining the many exquisite examples of Bonsai, I wandered around here to find myself a cache - a nice easy find with all in good condition.

I enjoyed walking through the trees along here on such a nice morning. School was in session and the trees and bushes mostly screened me from the road, so I was able to avoid muggles. The cache was easy to find. The logbook was a little damp.
