dalerious and I were here in St Arnaud tidying up a few loose ends from our last caching extravaganza here at Christmas time Big Grin.

This night cache was the last FUF009 one left for me to do.
Unfortunately, when we got to wp1 there was an issue which meant we only retrieved one set of coordinates.
I am not saying that I didn't bugger things up, but try as we might we could not see the other markers .
It is with gratitude that I accepted the other set of coordinates from a generous CO. Cool.

We enjoyed the drive through the forest here, and the walk through the bush was lovely. We got to see some huge spiders; absolutely gorgeous.
The sunset was gorgeous and the still evening air was a delight. Autumn is the best time of the year.

We always enjoy ourselves in this beautiful town.
Thank you FUF009 for always providing so much fun.
A favourite point given.

Oh yeah, that was a blast, although, i feel strangely violated and i cant remember the last hour....

This was to be the 1 of 13 finds for the day on our way from Bendigo to StArnaud with Ghihash to go camping and of course caching.
This cache we chased the little green men through the bush and to add to the spookyness at one of the reflections the bats and the spider that scared Ghihash another great cache.

Staying in StArnaud for a couple of nights K9team and I were determined to find some night caches in the area on out first night. Had a great time stumbling around the bush. Just as we got to Gz K9teams 1200 lumen tourch started flashing its low battery. Found it just in time and used phone light to find the way back to the car.

Thanks FUF009 for another night cache. Looking forward to the next one (hint hint)

Not often we go for a night cache but having completed half of this one a few years ago with a dodgee torch we came back last night to complete it with our bright and shiny new torch. Ha.

Things moved along so much easier this time around and it was enjoyed as intended.

We are planning on having a go at a few more of these tonight if we are up for it.

18-Sep-21
Today we decided to make a day of caching and very excited for some night caches in St. Arnaud.

Completed fairly easy, though one reflecter was almost missed due to over growth, attempted to free it up.
There's many very deep holes about so needed to be super careful!

The race is on for the most finds...
41st and final stop for the day.

#15 GeoKid2
#17 GeoKid3
#8 Mr ReganSeekers
#8 Mrs ReganSeekers

The winner of our day was GeoKid3 with 17 finds, what great family day. Safe to say Mr and Mrs ReganSeekers are feeling older then our ages and ready for bed.

Adam, Tiger and Myself decided that after the last few days of atrocious weather behind us, that tonight we’d head out bush and set up the tent for the night and have a fire and once it was completely dark we’d head off to complete this cache. At around 7.45 with torches in hand we set off for the starting point.
We completed it in around 50minutes (would’ve been quicker if I wasn’t so blind).
Back at the warm fire now to enjoy the rest of the night listening to all the frogs surrounding us.
Thanks for the Cache, is a ripper.

Had to bail on this half way through. Geokid had enough. Ha
Think we found the second but first somehow and after a few circles in the dark geodad quite happy to save it for another day too.
Until then....

They will be back once the area is safe........

I headed out on the full moon to find this cache Smile

And at the time I headed out,
I didn't need a torch to find these friendly aliens Big Grin

After contact had been made,
I was given a set of coords to head for Razz

Was this the pickup point,
where I would be whisked away before the Earth was destroyed by the Sun going super nova ?? [:o]
WAIT !! I can't go yet !! I haven't got my towel !! [:o]

Have I been watching too many sci-fi movies ?? Red Face
Maybe Razz

One final close encounter,
and the cache was found.
Hmmm !! It's not levitating off the ground ??
Is this really alien technology ?? [:o]

#4093 Before starting our journey to search for ‘strange activities’ in the bush, we ventured into the area before sundown and lit a little fire, set up our chairs and cooked our dinner that we had trapped at the butcher a little earlier .

After responsibly extinguishing the fire, the sky was dark, well sort of, as the moon was full! Not only did we have to concern ourselves with alien lifeform and big black cats lurking in the bush, but now we had the extra worry of Werewolves!! Surprised.

No problem making our way around, welcome greetings at each waypoint, in fact these creatures are very helpful as we were guided all the way to the final. After signing the logbook we exchanged details and said our goodbyes to our new friends from far far away. TFTC FUF009, another brilliant execution for our enjoyment.

05-Mar-20
Note to self: Next time we do an off line list, make sure that it covers where we are going to go.
Thankfully, The Tritonz asked if we had done this one and we hadn't. Many thanks to them for following us around whilst we made the find and put our names in the log. Thanks for another fantastic cache. So look forward to doing the caches up here.

05-Mar-20
Nearly missed this one again and would have if The Tritonz hadn't brought it to our attention. Thanks so them for doing it again with us and thank you FUF009 for another great cache. Love coming up here to cache as they are always so good.

TFTC. We had come to St Arnaud to refuel the geo-vehicle as I had not cjhecked before leaving Maryborough. Over the years we have been in this town we had found parts of two of the night caches bu it never , for some reason or another, completed them Armed with co-odds we drove to GZ and meet the alien. He was friendly and though it strange that we were out and about in the daylight. After explanations he offered up his logbook so we could sign our names.

This was the toughest one of the lot.

Just finding the place! I reckon we took like 3 different roads, reaching on 1am, none AWD accessible. Not wanting to get stuck out here, we tried oneee last track, till Bingo! Right on the doorstep. Myself, Pacman and Anikano then took off in search of these foreign invaders. Searching and looking about, we soon spotted on of the strange characters, following them to reach their offerings.

A brilliant finish for the night, and a great time had. Thanks for all the work and effort gone into these caches!

Who doesn't like a night cache ? wandered around the dark under torch light with others. Nice to see a night cache that is not missing reflectors for a change. Quick find at gz.

Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

Found on day four of my St. Arnaud Mega event adventure and it was time to team up with kittykatch, Smittengranny and Joolay (aka Capital Crunchers) to go on a night caching adventure.

This one was the first one for us and we had a lot of fun wandering around searching for the extra terrestrial activity!

Thanks for the fun, FUF009 Cool Definitely a fave point for this fun set up!

17-Nov-19
We teamed up with Rapidlywild and headed down from Canberra for another Geocaching Victoria Mega. We arrived at our accommodation in Bendigo on Friday afternoon / evening and checked out a few caches in the area before retiring for the evening. On Saturday morning, we had a pleasant drive across to St Arnaud, arriving at the event as the opening ceremony was wrapping up, and the lab caches were released, so we joined the frenzy with the masses solving the cleverly constructed lab caches.

Sunday, day two of our mega weekend we headed over to St Arnaud to tackle some of the fire trails, and what ever else we came across along the way. Our third night cache for the weekend, very enjoyable.

It's that time of the year again, Victorian Mega time, so its off to St Arnaud for myself and the ladies of FurfacesLL. A long road trip ahead, heading off Friday morning and getting home late Monday night and a fun filled weekend. We found many caches of all kinds of variety.. Trads, Multis, Puzzles, EC's, Virtuals, Letterboxes, Wherigos, Events, Cito's and of course, the Mega itself. We enjoyed the weekend and there sure are some unique caches here in St Arnaud, we still have plenty left to collect, so may need to coordinate another trip this way some time.

Sunday is here, after a massive day yesterday doing the StARS trails, the Challenge trails, the CITO, Events and Lab caches. Today we decided to head out to try some of the Fire Trail trails and we were not disappointed.

3rd Night cache for this weekend. Some impressive WP's on this one, loved GZ Big Grin

Thanks for the hide FUF009 Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another amazing trip away Big Grin

Another nice and easy night cache, these night caches were really good and a bit of fun, the cache was found all in order

What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.

Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.

Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.

Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.

Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.

Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.

Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

17-Nov-19
Sometime during the Saturday night, while we were busy with the O&A series, a new multi cache was published nearby. We then diverted our focus to the nightcaches and once we started decided to do all 7, finishing in the early hours of Sunday morning.

By now it was well past midnight and we were on number 6. After a lot of driving trying to find a way to the start co-ords all we had discovered was the many roads that did not go there. My 2WD SUV was taking some punishment in what seemed to be bicycle tracks. Finally there was one more option and we found a way in. Then the fun started, and we were glad that these aliens came in peace.
"Take me to your leader" became "Take me to GZ" and before long we were trading signatures.
I wonder what muggles think when they come across some of these waypoints Big Grin.

Thanks FUF009 - another FP from me.

***

These nightcaches were on our target list during the 2019 St Arnaud Event getaway.
Highlights of the Mega were attending all the weekend's social events, finding all 50 challenge caches in under 1 hour, finding all 40 lab caches, all 6 wherigos, and doing all 7 night caches in one night. No DNFs. Finding 11 cache types in 1 day. And of course making a start on the impressively creative constructions that FUF and TnC have made St Arnaud renowned for over the years.

A fun night cache surprisingly quiet given there’s a Mega event on, the truth is out there TFTC

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.

FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.

Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).

On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.

Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever and/or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

16-Nov-19
Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache FUF009!

After the evening dinner event we ended up talking to another Tassie team the Tassie Trekkers and we came upon the idea to do a couple of night caches.

Well six nightcaches later at gone one in the morning we headed back to our hotel/caravan to get some sleep at long last!

Each of the night caches was excellent with everyone being a joy to do, we werent the only mad cachers out at this time of night as we spotetd a number of other teams, some we got to talk to other we just noticed their torches.

Thanks for a great night out as it were.

This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.

The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.

For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

Found on 16/11/2019 at 1:07:00 AM

After dinner at the club I headed out with Tassie Trekkers and stainless steel rat for a night cache or two, or so I thought! Six night caches later and well past the witching hour we called it quits and headed off to bed, dropping Tassie trekkers back at their caravan on the way.
Thanks FUF009 for this great night cache. Our last one of the night. Favourite pint for this one.

When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

A creepy cache.

Twelve months ago as we finished the Parkville Mega we were advised by someone that the next Victorian Mega event would be held in Saint Arnold. Somebody else told us that the Mega event would be held in Saint Arnood. And then another said that Saint Arned was the Mega event venue. Who should I believe? Struggling to understand the English language at the best of time. Freddo speaks two languages, Australian and Bad English.
Move forward a year. There is a cluster of events, including a MEGA event, at this town called St Arnaud burning a hole in my GPSr. The big white Pay Hero is loaded with GPSr, TOTT and camping gear and we headed east with a collaboration of like minded South Australian colleagues. DavidWazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, freddo and Gridge98 make team DEFF98.
Thursday: 5am event at a bakery in North Adelaide. The bed wetter team meets and says that this is way too early. Travel 500km east for the Thursday evening event. Freddo gets a prize. I am no mug. Camping in the bush under the stars.
Friday: Up early and headed out on the trails. And then back to our campground for a CITO! I am sure we did not make that much mess last night. More trails and 200 caches find for the day including a cluster of caches where freddo left DNA. More bush camping after a great meal in the Sporting Club.
Saturday: Up early for an event. Who puts an event on at 8am. Damn South Australians that’s who. After the event it was back on the trails and the Pay Hero is getting dustier and dustier. Found some awesome caches. Freddo the metallurgist was very impressed with the welding. Quality fabrication. And then another CITO. This time at the dump. Plenty of rubbish here. Some of it good stuff. Can I take some home? And finally a giant queue for a free meal. Nothing attracts a crowd like a free meal. The moment of the evening was receiving a Hall of Fame nomination. That prize is going straight to the pool room.
Sunday: Another night camping in the bush. Some fabulous night caches walks were undertaken. Night caching is a special form of entertainment. We spent the day cruising around picking up the left over unfound caches and meeting heaps of new friends. Boycotted the GIFF event since it did not show the freddo film “Cache Confusion” https://vimeo.com/372568752. One minute and forty four seconds of your life you won’t get back. A quick speech and it was back on the road for home. Well Horsham. More camping. This time by a river.
Monday: Caches around Horsham and following the Duke’s Highway back to Adelaide. Time for a shower for this smelly geocacher. An exhausted chocolate frog slept well.

We came, we cached, we ate, we slept; repeat for five days of fun and dust.

Easter 2020 sees South Australia hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Check it out. We would love to see you there.

Nothing like having the CO personally escort you to the posted coordinates. This was take 2 of our attempt at this night cache, so with Crustyvarmint and OSHFAM, we set off in high spirits, with smiles on our faces as we collected the information at the waypoints, then made our way to GZ.

Thoroughly enjoyed this cache FUF009, and our thanks to both you and Sharkiefan for your help.

Out for a spot of night caching with Jascat, and this was the first cab off the rank.
We rocked up on sun set to be the only ones in the carpark, and set off with torches ablaze...
and after following the reflectors, we were soon enough (well, 9 minutes apparently according to our official time keeper) we were standing at GZ signing our lives away in the nicely themed cache. Then as we were returning to the car, the rest of the world started to turn up....

Last night-cache of the night for lochb, ozibags and I, unlike others I don't remember having any trouble finding our way through the dark forest to the start of this one (OpenStreetMaps, whilst not perfect nor complete in some areas around here didn't let us down tonight). Off the road the trail was found without much difficulty even after hours of battery drain of our remaining torches, and we eventually had a close encounter of the caching kind at GZ where we happily signed our names in the logbook. A fun theme and well crafted, definitely another favourite point from me Smile Now for the long drive back north to our accomodation before we turned into pumpkins...

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.

We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.

Today, we continued with the well-constructed caches, starting off at the original series, *Fire Break Track* FBT, followed by the *Loop Track* LT series, visiting a few geocaches in between. We then called into Mega HQ to register our attendance, and then progressed through the Challenge series. We finished off the day with the CITO event and a few miscellaneous and puzzle caches around the area, and then had a well-deserved BBQ dinner at the event. We also completed a few night caches towards the west of St Arnaud, which turned out to be great and easily followed.

This was one of the two night multi-cache that we completed tonight, and we didn't have any problems whatsoeveer. We enjoyed the theme to this one, and the final cache container and logbook were in good shape. For these reasons, Favourite Point from me. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for placing and maintaining this cache. The logbook was signed as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98).

One of 4 night caches a crew of us did tonight - quadrupled what had previously been done or not as the case may be for me. Cruising in the bush on a perfect night is a recipe for a jolly time. TFTC and the journey.

Took us ages to find the road into this one! Once we finally did it was a quick find from there. Another awesome night cache. TFTC

Suscoe's final wander in the bush for to night.
Found what we needed to and located the log.

Well done to FUF009 for this night cache.

A favourite from us for the effort put in.

After taking the LONG way round to get to start, with Wollaston, 80Degrees, wazza, Ronice88, and Trisam, with torches flashing off red and other coloured reflectors, we did find the needed numbers to finish, very near to where we started, Thanks FUF009, a favourite point for the experience

After a failed attempt to navigate to the start point the previous night, FUF009 and Sharkiefan led a small group of us out there tonight.
With some daylight still hanging around, Oshfam, Knight_shift and I headed off on our journey. We enjoyed a pleasant walk, finding the reflectors quite easily, and gathered the coords for GZ Just a short walk away and the log was signed before driving back to town to attack another adventure lab.
Thanks for the adventure Simon, and your help.

After finding 6 other night caches this evening, lochb, quiet1_au and I went after this one. Our electronic equipment batteries were nearly exhausted, we had 2 torches between 3 people, a somewhat dodgy GPS compass, a rougher than usual road and the pervading fear of being snatched by the invaders (whoever they were) made for an adventure at 11pm. But we got there in the end.

Well shit.
Almost too much for how tired we were.
Coolest little aliens and even a possum/owl/just two random yellow eyes to top it off (I’m choosing to believe it was a tiny wizard).

Very awesome night cache.
Thank you for the effort you put in to make it!

FP from me!!!

This weekend was the St. Arnaud Mega event and I was looking forward to hitting the road for a few days doing some flat out caching, visiting many new and amazing places and catching up with lots of caching friends. The event was a great success and heaps of fun. The caches provided by the local cachers were, in many cases, absolutely mind blowing (FUF009 caches most notably). All in all it was a great weekend, very warm weather and lots of caches found.
A great fun night cache and a fav for me.
Cache found and log signed.

Found with heymissjo, sorry for late log

Edit note for me -

(#1757-1766: Coffee, Cake and Fast Food Tour of St Arnaud; 11.15pm)

Group attempt with heymissjo, Team GBS, n0w0rries and OSHFAM after a rethink on an earlier plan.

Adventure Lab - Coffee, Cake and Fast Food Tour of St Arnaud

#1757 - 1766

Tonight I was playing 'Chauffeur' to heymissjo, OSHFAM and Crustyvarmint. This Adventure Lab was a great way to discover our sustenance options for the weekend while we attend the St Arnaud Event. I also got to practice my reverse and U-turn skills on the deserted streets of this gorgeous town.
Thanks so much.

Out with Roosta and Rebel today. Madly grabbing caches before I have to head home. Long drive back to Brissie. Weather is great and we are having a heap of fun. Thank you so much Smile

There were some eroded tracks into the start point but once on foot all went smoothly to GZ.
Loved the trail markersCool
Thanks for another excellent night cache

Having said goodbye to some of our caching buddies we set off with N0w0rries to the start point for this nightcache. We certainly had a lot of fun chasing the invaders through the bush and once we had found both sets of coordinates we updated our GPS accordingly and then continued on the trail towards Ground Zero where the cache was quickly located. Thanks so much for the cache and a favourite point awarded for the final - we loved it! Greetings from Zimbabwe ??????

Day three of my Mega adventure. Out and about with sir_spectre and Aussie M & M grabbing many of the local caches.

Some great night caches, my sister and I never had to do them alone, as at each one we arrived at the same time as another group. Perfect nights to do them.

Out and about in the spooky woods near St Arnaud with Mark, Monica and a Wayne. We ended up in the wrong place, weirdly another set of lights appeared in the darkness, were they friend or foe, were they the invaders perhaps??? Mary was the bravest and ventered out, doing her best impression of ET's cousin. Hmmm, we were given a hint by the strangers, that Mogni had led us to the lest preferred entrance. We exchanged invasion id tags, and headed to the correct entrance. Then we started the night cache. Lol.
A memorable night cache, once again, and another favourite from Mary and Mark.

In town to attend our first Mega event. Having previously completed all the other night caches in town we thought we'd visit this one tonight before looking at the new night caches we expected to turn up at some point this weekend (one popped up just as we completed this cache!). We really enjoyed this adventure. It was an easy to follow markings and a great theme throughout. Kids loved the final. We came in peace and left with a smile. TFTC

Arrived on Tuesday to find some early caches and departing next Tuesday with plenty of time to find some more caches.
Headed out to do some night caching with MuggleWifeDoes and gmj3191.
A nice walk in the park although we started at the wrong end, signed the log and then headed to the start to collect the waypoints. Still not quite sure how that happened but it did!

AWESOME! Have a fave point.

The drive up the hill was interesting. I met a bunch of other 2WDers at the bush intersection just north of the water treatment facility, and people were reluctant to try to take their cars up. Indeed it was a nasty road with my 2WD wagon bottoming out here and there with various clanks and scrapes. I'd suggest if you have a 2WD maybe try a different road in. Having said that maybe I'm not the best person to provide advice, I thought I was on a different road when I went back down the hill but no I wasn't (clank, clank, scrape...)

I'm not sure I have found a dedicated 'night cache' before, but I'm already thinking this one will be hard to beat. Way points were not hard to find and the bush here is quite open and easy to walk through in the dark. I wasn't paying attention though so I had to start over haha Smile Cache was found AOK and log signed. Thanks for the experience and the cache. Big Grin

If you haven't done this cache yet avoid any spoilers and just add this to you MUST DO list. Cheers!

Find #10616

Its that time of year, everyone is excited and all are heading for a great weekend of caching, this year, the destination of choice is St Arnaud. I was unsure if I would have much time for caching due to having to do more than I really wanted for this mega, so I left a little early so I could at least find some caches along the way.

It was only Thursday and with plenty of daylight left, I headed out with beckNmonts as well as gabs1963 to find some nearby cache trails starting with this one. Loving the creative containers.

In a town filled with night caches, couldnt possibly pass up the chance to do as many as possible.

Many thanks to FUF009 for the cache. TNLN.

Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2019?*

After relocating the van to the Mega site, pprass was passing by and he suggested that we go and do this one together.
Met a few aliens on the way around and luckily they all seemed very friendly towards us.
Eventually made it to their base and we were able to add our names to the logbook before the did any experiments on us.
There is going to be a big invasion on these caches around here this weekend - that's for sure! Got a bit puffed getting around these tracks and then the final was a bit of a steep climb Nice work though with the sculpture!
Thanks FUF009 TFTC.

I arrived in St Arnaud mid-afternoon today and decided to take advantage of the daylight for as long as possible. Once the sun set, I came out here to check out a few night caches. Thoroughly enjoyed the caches, which each get favorite points from me. TFTC!

Found by Mary and David at 21:55. After a lovely dinner with a big group of cachers at The Royal Hotel, teamed up with McLookers, Alansee and muzza for this night cache. Made our way to the posted coordinates where we quickly spotted a reflector, and the hunt began. Before long we had the final in hand and all logged our visit. A relatively easy night cache. A couple of other cars passed us heading in as we were making our way back in to town. Gets a FP. Our thanks to FUF009.

We spent the night caching tonight. We enjoyed the walk on this beautiful moonlit night. I loved the surprise at GZ and wonder what it would be like to be invaded! Thanks FUF009, a favourite from me. Found with maccamob and Alansee.

As the sun set and darkness fell, we set off to attempt this cache. We made a wrong turn on the tracks to get to the starting p;point. Rather than try to find our way through the myriad of tracks, we parked about 150m away and walked to the starting point. From there we were able to find each of the markers and gathered the required information. We then headed off to GZ where accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks FUF009 for a very enjoyable night cache. It earns a favourite from us.

Did a caching day around here today with Crank1 & Everlasting, we decided to come back here after dinner as we started get familiar with the tracks here. Waited for dark then off we go, very challenging but fun here. I enjoyed it very much as I love night cache. Happy to find the cache at the end, cute Alien Smile Thanks FUF009 for all the works you have created here. A fav from me.

Day 2 of the St.Arnaud pre Mega road trip on this long weekend with biggles1024.
After a big day chasing StARS and challengers it was now time to refuel and get ready for a few night caches.
This was the first for tonight and we certainly took an interesting way to GZ but after a wrong track here and there, we finally arrived at the start.
We headed off into the bush and we soon found evidence of the invasion, as we continued more evidence was found.
We pushed on making our way through the bush and eventually came across home base.

**Thanks to FUF009 for placing this cache.**

I went to St Arnaud with SteMicMitSar to make some inroads into the caches here prior to the Mega.
Having eaten out dinner, we headed out to do some night caches. This was a fun cache but nothing too taxing either mentally or physically. A lot of work has gone into the waypoints and GZ.

The Invasion has returned back to the bush and is all ready to be found. Smile

11-Aug-19
After a check of the area today, all looks good and the Invasion will be back in place and re-enabled by next weekend.

16-Jul-19
Checked in the area today and amazingly the signs are still in place for a burn off.
Going to do some more investigation to see if in fact there is still a thought on a "Winter Burn off"

22-May-19
The Invasion wants to come back but still nothing has been burnt up here. Still the old signs indicating the burn period to end on the 31 May.
Still Waiting to see what happens.

28-Apr-19
More trees have been cut down but still nothing been lit. Signs are still up to indicate the intended burn off. No fixed date but the planned period is from between now to the 31st May 2019.
