Great day for caching, and this one was a quick find. The container was a bit water logged. TFTC
A bit of a walk down a hill and an easy find what a view getting close to 200! TFTC find 196 thanks surfer girl
On our way home now. After doing a few cases around Lake Eildon still a little bit of daylight left. Absolute beautiful view
Spending a couple of days in the Alexandra area and so finishing off the Alexandra fish was todays target. I wasn’t geocaching back when the Alex MEGA was on so I’m a late comer to this geoart.
The parking location for the previous two caches proved a good spot to tackle this third cache. We followed the track in and made the find soon after arriving. The storm was still brewing over Lake Eildon but fortunately seemed to be passing us by.
Thanks xsurfergirlx for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

The last one on the list for today. From the parking coords, we made our way using the sensible goat track to find the cache nicely tucked away.
Made our way back to the geovehicle as the thunder rolled in the distance. Thankfully the storm passed just to the west of us.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, xsurfergirlx

Once we completed the AX17 Geoart today we headed north for an another adventure following Skyline up in the hills with brilliant views overlooking Lake Eildon.
Parked at the suggested waypoint and made our way across to the cache.
Thanks xsurfergirlx for the placement.

A quick find while out with Crustyvarmint. Thanks to for the xsurfergirlx for the cache.
Find number 8385 at 3:57:08 pm
Travelling home from Goughs Bay via the long way to target this little group of 3 geocaches.
Parked at the parking location at the same time as another couple parked right opposite me and headed up towards Bertie so I headed this way. Found quickly after a wander around the hill.
Cache container accessed with sanitised hands.
**Thanks for placing this cache xsurfergirlx**

I enjoyed the view too. I've done a bit of boating on the weir and have fond memories. Cache is in good condition. Tftc.
After the stroll into the cache, we admired the views, and thought about the times when horseback transport would have been used to access this area. Thanks xsurfergirlsx, has now been loved again.
Found at 4.15pm to complete the trio of caches. I used to ride horses in my youth (many years ago) but never owned one, my sister is a keen equestrian and owns two. A pleasant wander to GZ,

A horsey tale to go with this cache
So why do all the horsey road signs in Victoria depict dressage horses and riders ??
I've never seen a dressage horse and rider prancing along a country road [:o)]
I s'pose it's the same oddness that explains why railway crossing signs depict steam trains
Well that was what I was musing about as I wandered through the daisies to find this cache
TFTC !!

In Eildon on our annual holiday for the third year running and finally got out with the geokids for some caching. Did one on Skyline Rd 2 yrs ago so out to find a few more up this way. A beautiful place to take in the view. TFTC.
Day 7 of our annual caching blitz. A lovely memorial to Chanel 5. Did take precautions with large stick at GZ before retrieving cache. Tftc

While heading to Eildon to attend the CITO event, I went the non direct route so I was able to find a few caches along the way.
This one was a quick stop on the side of the road, a short walk and a quick find, log was signed and I was on my way.

This is our fourth trip to the northern island this year. The first three were primarily for family events but with some opportunities to do some caching along the way. The fourth trip is different as caching is our focus. After getting off The Spirit of Tasmania we are heading north to cache at Wangaratta and then Yass before heading into the ACT and Queanbeyan for a week. After that we will travel to Jindabyne for a few days with summiting Mount Kosciuszko being our main target for this part of our trip. Then we will visit Cooma and Tumut before heading back down the track through Wangaratta and Mansfield as we make our way to Alexandra for the MEGA. After the weekend we will continue to make our way south and back onto the Spirit of Tasmania for the “drive” across Bass Strait. We are really looking forward to three weeks of intense caching in great areas and, hopefully, catching up with some geocachers in each of the areas we will visit.
Today was the second day of the Alexandra Event or MEGA. Again we joined others at the Showgrounds early in the morning to catch up on what happened yesterday and what was in the offering for today. We then headed out to cache in the area again. As we had completed the Trout geoart series yesterday, our focus for today was completion of the gadget caches and any other caches that we would come across during the day. In the late afternoon we returned to the Showgrounds for the final presentations – an excellent way to end a great MEGA event.
The group of four caches up on Skyline Drive were published just prior to the MEGA event. We had the opportunity today to look for these caches. We were certainly glad that we came to this area as the views across the lake and up the valley were superb. Accurate coordinates and an obvious hide location led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks xsurfiegirlx for the cache and for bringing us to this wonderful vantage point.
***** We are currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. On 1 September 2017 our average was 86 which seems close to the 100 target. However given that we have found so many GC caches, we have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get our average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that we can strive to attain this challenge. After 598 caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 99.7. We are nearly there and should make it before this current trip comes to an end in a couple of days time. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.
We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.
We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.
We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.
Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.
Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!
Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.
Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.
Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.
We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.
Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.
Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.
