Wow! This may have been my first ever find from 2000! Out on Lake Powell with my family for the week and I was excited to grab some caches here - though a bit nervous, since I was so close to my 60-day streak and I noticed there were only a handful of caches here.
Something I was surprised about - the water levels are WAY lower here than when many of the caches were hidden, so most finds now are going to be either a rock climb or a hike.
This was my third and final find at Lake Powell, and it was such a great way to end the week. After reading the most recent logs, we thought we could try getting through the thin area with paddle boards and kayaks instead but we also got to a place where it was too tight to keep going forward and the walls were way too high to even consider climbing. The coordinates for the beach in the most recent log helped tremendously - we parked at another little sandy area nearby since a houseboat was occupying the beach at the exact coordinates.
We started the hike from here - though the temperatures seem to be cooling down, it still felt like we were walking through a desert - especially since I managed to forget my water! My map said 1.2 miles but it may have been ended up being 1.5 or so to get to the cache. There was a flash flood in this canyon a few weeks ago, so we had to go around the mucky creek that had formed.
The hike itself wasn’t too bad (lots of little hills to go up and over though) but we finally reached close to the cache! Since it looked like we were going to have to go up, I went ahead and completed the last stage by myself. When my coordinates were really close, I still didn’t see anything so I started to go to a higher viewpoint when I spotted it! Had to do a little bit of rock climbing to reach the cache but it was the perfect way to end this great adventure! This was such an amazing end to the week and definitely my most triumphant cache at Lake Powell. It was also great to share this experience with my family and get them more involved in geocaching. Thank you for this experience and for my first 2000 cache!

I’m on a road trip to Utah and Arizona to find some new counties and get a few oldies. This cache was the most memorable 2000er on this trip. It was also the hardest to get to. We did not realize how difficult the low water levels would make the hunt.
We had not reserved a jet ski as the Antelope Point Marina does not allow reservations shorter than a full day. We got to the marina soon after they opened at 7am and felt very fortunate to get a jet ski for half a day. It took quite awhile to go through the process but eventually we were in the water headed to Labyrinth Canyon.
Once in the canyon, it soon started to narrow due to the low water levels. In fact, it got so narrow that at one point the jet ski made it through with only an inch of space on each side between the ski and the canyon wall. The canyon walls towered so far above the water that it would have been impossible to climb out of the canyon unless you were a world-class rock climber.
We eventually ran into a sandy and muddy “beach” at the end of the canyon. There were a few kayaks parked there as people were hiking the slot canyon. We turned around and headed back in search of a place to beach. We finally left the jet ski at N 037° 00.315' W 111° 18.690' and started the 1.1 mile hike to the GZ. The terrain was fairly easy to navigate but the near 100 degree heat made the hike a real challenge. Do not underestimate this hike! Once close to the GZ, we spotted the cache quickly in its hidey hole. Always nice to get a smiley on an old cache. Thanks for keeping this one alive! A favorite point awarded for the adventure!
Happy day! We found Labyrinth Canyon and can claim yet another smiley! Thank you Team Snaptek for your contribution to geocaching, our favorite outdoor pastime! Happy caching and excellent adventure!!

I had the week off and thought it would be fun to head to Utah and grab the six remaining 2000 caches(I already had Potters Pond). I talked to mmcash and he said that sounded like fun.
We knew this was going to take the most effort and planning. We decided to rent a jet ski for half day since everything else was booked except the kayaks. It was first come first serve on a half day rental of jet skis. We showed up early and they only had 2 Jet Skis left...I guess during this time of the year they usually don't have any left for half days so we felt very lucky to get one.
It took about an hour to finally get our Jet ski. We were both excited to start our way to the cache. The open waters were very choppy which made for an interesting ride. We got the Labyrinth Canyon and started our slow ride through the amazing beauty of the canyon. We reached a spot that narrowed where the jet ski had an inch of clearance on either side. The journey came to an end because of the sand bar blocking us from continuing. We had to wait for the 15 swimmers coming through the passage before turning around and finding another way.
We searched for anywhere to park and head to the cache but the walls were way to steep and nowhere to leave the Jet Ski. We finally found a spot(mmcash gave the coordinates in his log) and anchored the Jet Ski and started our 1.1 mile hike in 100 degree weather. The sun beat off the rocks which just intensified the heat. We did get a little break everytime a cloud would pass in front of the sun. The hike wasn't that bad at all...if it was cooler. We reached gz and made the quick find. We celebrated and took some pictures before heading back to the Jet Ski. This cache won't ever be forgotten and I would love to come back and explore more of the lake. I am Happy to have this off my list. Thanks Polt for keeping this oldie alive.

Wow! Beautiful day for a boat ride and hike. Thankful for our boat captain Ryan!
Spent the night at the Antelope Point RV park in the back of our Tesla. Arranged for an early morning boat ride into Labyrinth Canyon. The scenery was stunning and we were the only ones on the lake. A short hike up to the cache and then spent some time take fun pictures. Thanks for keeping this old one alive. Favorite point!
