Great Northern escape 2022 Day 78. Charters Towers Day 1. After a restless night and an early wake due to some very noisy birds, I headed off for a days caching. I finished the caches along the Gregory Highway and went out to the weir and threw in a few pirate caches as well. Apart from lots of grass and associated seeds, the day went smoothly and I was home in time for a late lunch and some logging.
I did one of the pirate caches in April on y original journey, but took the time to do the rest today. A fun collection of caches out this way.
Thanks for the cache EatSleepCacheOnline

Out and about caching in and around Charter Towers today. Caches visited took us too many spots with many varied caches of different sizes/shapes. Thank you for placing the caches in their locations. TFTC
After caching having to be abandoned at about midday yesterday because of the rain, today was going to be a very busy day discovering the many different places around this historical town. Thanks to the COs who have placed caches in the area for us to find.
Day 11 of the long road trip from Western Australia to Townsville, Queensland.
Today was caching south of Charters Towers then north of the town where a first to find was jagged before returning and caching within Charters Towers. The second Adventure Lab and associated Bonus cache was also completed.
This cache was found without problems. Log signed and the cache returned as it was found.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for geocachers to find.

A simple find that still took us a few minutes.
Our first full day in Charters Towers, and we decided to head out reasonably early as it is forecast to be quite warm. We targeted a variety of cache types including Adventure Lab, puzzle, traditional multi and Wherigo. All successful with no DNFs. Even managed to pick up one we think we looked for but could not find last time we were here.
What a lovely old town Charters Towers is. We particularly like seeing the range of old buildings on offer.
Thank you to the local COs for developing and maintaining the caches for us to find. It is much appreciated.

Just 17 finds today. We have almost come to the end of our stay in Charters Towers. Last night we had a great "catch up" with the locals. Today we thought it would be nice to attempt the local power trail and then head out to the weir. We got side tracked on our way back and logged a couple more.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache pretty close to where the GPS said he should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny

Staying in Charters Towers so headed out to grab some caches in the area. After doing a few others in town I headed out to grab this short power trail. The grass was long in places but all caches were found and once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Worked my way through a couple of this series, but the long grass was a deterrent to doing all of them. There was a muggle mowing the grass nearby when I passed on the way to Oh! Brad, luckily she had finished when I returned to grab this one. TFTC.
Found with orth71 on a trip to Charters Towers.
Instead of the Mega in Dayboro we came to the Towers to cache.
Doing this trail.
Found after a bit of a search.
As per last finder the cache was on the ground and missing some camo.
Replaced about 30cms up.

Found on this Easter Tuesday after our plans where canned. This took longer than it should have probably because i was too busy doing the bitey ants dance to look.

Another cache in this wonderful little series. What I love about the Charters Towers caches is there is always a cacher's path through the long grass. I am a little bit itchy but always worth to have a cache in hand.
Thanks Sobingtons for this trail, took a slight deviation to get to this one, found on a visit in the van. Like all the different containers!
Caching in and around Charters Towers and surrounds we picked up a few caches and this was one of them.
A good variety of hides in this series, cache and contents were in good condition and adding to our favourites.
Thanks Sobingtons for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A fun trail of caches to find
And here at stop number four for the morning,
there was the long grass again !! [:o]
Long, itchy grass
The sort that gets into your socks and leaves sharp bits !!
But the ankle pain is worth it for a few cache finds [^]

Decide to tackle this short PT before leaving CT tomorrow, An easy find at this one. TFTC.
I had a different type of hide in mind at GZ. Looked around and came up with nothing. Looked again and found the cache .
TFTC. We had camped overnight at Macrossan Park and needed to be in Charters Towers next day to have a new windscreen fitted to the Motorhome. This meant we had a bit of time to explore. We decided to use geocaching as a guide. We would have liked to tackle the multis but thought that the trades would have to be sufficient until we visit again. We managed 16 finds for the day and lunch in the hotel. Good day and we had a new windscreen so we could continue our journey. Thanks to the COs in the area.
Trying to gather all the caches in area
Perhaps when we come back a few more will be placed along the road

Heading towards Charters Towers today to do some caching in and around the town. There are quite a lot of caches available so we had to make some choices.
Each cache found was in an acceptable condition, unless a specific comment is made. Each log was duly noted with our name and was then replaced as it had been found. Our thanks go to Sobingtons for this cache hide. A nice quick and easy find.
This one was found out in the open on the ground. Not sure where it would have been hidden, but have put it in a place a bit more protected. Maybe the ower might want to check on it.

In the Towers today with BlackPearl26 to pick up the last few remaining caches that I have yet to find yet in North Queensland.
Spotted this one on approach.
Thanks Sobingtons
I enjoyed the series. I hope there will be more.

That was a challenge. Two GPSs had me a way away from it. Was just about to give up when I decided to have one more glance in a more logical place. I was looking for something different too lol. Yay FTF. TFTC.
