Auckland Anniversary: We needed fair weather to smash out our big caching plans. We were hopeful that Taranaki would turn on some sunshine today and it did. In spite of one heavy downpour in the afternoon and the threat of thunder, we managed to stay dry and in the game.
Hawera: The host object appears to have taken s battering, and we wondered how this might affect the cache. No trouble with it at all - Thanks 2 Bulbars. TFTC.

Spending the long weekend at the airfield for the annual NZAWA rally. Had time today to wander along to find this cute cache A favourite point and greetings from Australia
Heading out of Hawera reviewing how far I will travel along here today. Nice and easy here and replaced as found. Cute hide.
With a preferable weather forecast for the Saturday this weekend, and a little time available for a roadie out Taranaki way I was off out the house at 0600 and back home 12 hours later. My initial (misguided) plan to cache up to Stratford, then back again was adjusted just after lunch and Normanby was the turn-around spot. A good day out and improved my Taranaki stats somewhat with 30-odd real finds and 17 Ad Lab stages (3 completed). Put my big-boy pants on to climb the Hawera water tower (a DNF for the cache though) and a great Earthcache out at Ancient Beaches. Many, many 2 Bulbars caches, thanks Lester, and appreciate the efforts of all COs.

Afternoon looking for geocaches with the kids. Nice easy find first up. TFTC.
Road trip today, so decided to do a cache in each town to break the trip. Easy find here & we did enjoy the background story. Loving recording the date - it reads the same way backwards, forwards and upside down (in computer figures) 22022022
Cache is all good. TFTC

It definitely is a biggie. Perfect spot for a cache and the container just makes it. Tftc. Beautiful day to be out and about. The kids had slight sniffles so couldn't go to school (thanks covid anxiety). Not so sick that we wanted to stay home bored. Caching is the perfect compromise between social distancing and still enjoying the sun.
I've been on a mission to eliminate dot days and now only have two remaining. With the few left another side mission I've set myself is to get the last four 'hidden on dates' of which this is one. And seeing as I was driving past this afternoon and the weather was OK it looked to be worth a stop.
After a quick look at the airfield I stopped at GZ and circled once without luck. I checked previous logs and only picked up one vague bit of help. On my second circle there was no luck but on my third I spotted something unusual on the ground in the broken branches piled by the hedge - This turned out to be the cache.
After signing the log I returned the cache to the tree where I thought it should be but the CO might want to check if the exact location is correct.

TeamBOP are together again for the long weekend. Philip.Perry, McJandals,NZFlossy and myself are heading to New Plymouth and surrounding areas caching.
Team BOP is back on the road this time heading to Taranaki with our sights set on some Labs, some geo-art & everything else in between
Our current incarnation includes Davidson Clan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed the cache logs as ‘Team BOP’ to save time and log space. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey as most caches have been found quickly & without fuss thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placements.
I appreciate there’s a stigma attached to cut’n’paste logs like these so I’ll try to provide cache specific notes retrospectively when I get home. We do genuinely respect the work put into these caches, particularly some of the puzzles, but with a numbers mission like this - the hides start to blur together unfortunately. So Cheers COs, TFTC and most importantly - thanks for bringing us here

A plan was hatched recently to hit the Naki area this long weekend. Nice to get away and grab a lot of our solved puzzles and ALs plus others along the way. Signed logs Team BoP to save room on log sheets.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

On a weekend trip to Taranaki with some of Team BOP. Always lots of fun on these trips targeting cache trails, solved puzzles and high favourites. Thanks to all the cache owners TFTC
After doing a circle of where I thought it’d be I was about to go and look elsewhere until a flash of colour caught my eye. What a neat little cache.

Another so often passed spot but never stopped. Was about to scale then a walk produced the goods. TFTC
It was blowing a strong crosswind when we approachedGZ and since the wreckage had broken loose from it’s anchor ropes it was lucky that it was still there. SL TFTC fav from us
Teamed up with Cats&Dragons, for an overnight mission down the West Coast focusing in and around Hawera. It's been awhile since we've done a trip like this and it was great to be out finding caches again. We left Hamilton at 7pm Friday night and returned midnight Saturday, with only a few hours of sleep needed we managed 116 finds for the trip. A big thanks to all the cache owners for their placements.
It's definitely a big one, nicely themed for the area. TFTC.

We soon spotted the wreckage, but it appears that in trying to avoid crashing, Captain Lester had jettisoned as much weight as he could, including the logbook. We inserted a small sheet of waterproof paper into the wreckage. A favourite from us. TFTC
Sorry not flying with you today. Wet inside and outside. Log ok. Cheers
Day 4- Tuesday 17 December. Hawera district today.
Running around the Hawera district today in Toby, while Zara rests up. Checked Manawapou viaduct and Nowells Lakes.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Didn't realise this cache was on the side road and so we drove past wondering why the count never got below 50m. Obvious, really. Quick U-turn The plane is still in the tree? Could you waypoint it please?
Day four of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is Hawera - it's going to be a slow trip!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Find number 6450. Doing a trip to grab some TMGT caches and others as well. On my way home doing a few stops. I did not fly past this one. Thank you for the placement.
I am now on my way to Wanganui, but I still have time to grab a few as I travel. I parked right there hoping no one would need to come in, but before I could find the cache a car drove in. I then found the cache and zipped out. TFTC.

A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Arrived in New Plymouth; grabbed the rental and hit the road running - aiming for Hawera....
Woohoo - finished finding the Smile series and now time to boost it for Hawera and our accommodation....passing by with good parking on offer rude not to stop. Dark as but easy enough to spot - nice one. Cheers.

Getting darker so we didn't spot the plane but nice cache spot.
Up here for an awesome weekend jaunt with Team Gators, TheWanglers and Karma Reprint to do a loop of the mountain in 48 hours grabbing as many caches as we could while having a good laugh. Logs signed as some derivative of (KT)^2
Cheers 2 Bulbars for the cache

A plan was hatched for a few of us to head to America for a Mad Mission. With life getting a bit crazy a downsized trip was organised as I had sorted childcare for the cachelets. The big America trip is now set for next year. We asked a member of our crew if we could go to Nelson, Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington, Hastings the answer all came back "I don't have many to find there". We left it to that member to suggest an area. He came up with New Plymouth and a loop around the mountain. That's a go from the rest of us. We sorted puzzles, gpxs, motels and a car and hit the ground running. The forecast was doom, gloom, rain, hail and lightning. Oh well, sounds exciting. We had very little of any of the weather that affected our caching and found we had all overpacked (thank God!).
Day 1: We grabbed the car and started caching at 2pm and made it to Hawera after 8pm settled into our accommodation and had a bit to eat and hit the town before calling it quits for the day.
Quick find.
Thanks for the cache 2 Bulbars.

Hoping for a quick cache N dash but we weren't sure if we could park at GZ so pulled off the main road. Walked to hint item but the road to the airfield was surprisingly busy. A car stopped and asked if we were OK, we didn't know whether they knew about the cache, so after he left, we gave it a few minutes but decided to move on, so a dnf for us.

The RiffRaff were on a last minute road trip to see the lights and catch up with family so didn't have much time but Mrs RRR made sure we got to do a 2Bulbars cache. A good quick stop as we were running out of time...loved the themed camo. Many thanks for the cache.
We went flying past... ok driving slowly past. Quick back up, Lima, Oscar, Victor, Echo the container. Thank you for the cache

Up for the Mega for the week, headed up the coast for a couple of days on family stuff, but did get few caches in for the day. many thanks to the cache placer's - Bitsprayer
It seemed the right thing to do to pull in here and it seemed someone had been here earlier as there were still tracks in the grass. A quick scout around and the landing (crash) site was spotted. Log extracted and signed. Fun hide, thanks for the placement.
On my way between cities today with an apparent break in the rain.
Needed a quick find to fill in another day in my calender so a flying visit seemed just the ticket.

I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get me closer to my goal
Back again in the Hawera are collecting caches between the rain and trying to stay dry, luckily each time that I was out of the car looking for a cache there was shelter nearby or if I was driving to the next cache and it started to rain I would move on to the next cache hoping by the time I got there it had stopped raining with the plan to come back a bit later.
Parked up about 13 meters away from ground zero and thought to myself were could the cache be hidden (smirk). Quick and easy find spent more time getting the log out than it did to find it.
Thanks for the Cache

Time to find another cache on my way home to Palmerston North after a few days in New Plymouth. . Thanks 2 Bulbars for the cache.
I missed the biggie on my first walk around the hiding place and before I could pass it a second time Infoferret was signing the log! Signed as Team IE. TFTC
Lovely sunny day and a chance to go exploring...and geocacing locally. First thought "not another large tree"... soon breathed out because the cache was in hand. Tftc
It was nice and quiet around GZ today as we circumnavigated the landing zone.
It didn't take too long to track down the prize and then we were off again.
Thanks for the nice little cache 2 Bulbars.

Up in the Taranaki area for work. Much like home really, but the weather rather on the hot side today. TFTC
Making my way towards New Plymouth for the night on Waitangi Day this was the next cache that I had on my list of caches that I was going to find today. I saw this cache not long after it was published and last time that I came though to the Taranaki but I was far too busy to stop and look for this cache so decided that today was a good day to go and check it out.
As I need GZ, I decided that since it was very quiet today I would drive into the International Airport of Hawera [xx(] and park close to GZ. I was glad that I did this as it got me completely out of the way of the traffic and it was very close to GZ.
As I got out of the car I decided to check the hint and soon realised where this cache was going to be, and as I neared GZ I soon realised that I was totally correct and was able to find the cache very quickly in the first spot that I looked. What a very clever little cache container, I wonder how many passengers that this flight can take[B)][:o)].
Managed to retrieve the logpage without any issues, signed and replaced back as found, thanks 2 Bulbars for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13077)

I sat here and had my very late lunch after finding the biggie! While on my way up to to new Plymouth for a bit of a stay etc and thought i would hunt these three caches out at Waverley,! OH No i had not put the pocket query onto my GPS. So i ended up doing only one from my cell phone and continued on my way. But not having the caches on my GPS was a nuisance and really slowed me up so i only only attempted a few caches. I also tried the tariki hall but the cell phone didn't settled and although i looked in the corner as hint said i only found rubbish before a swarm of bees seemed to hang around so i went back to car, ensured none were in the car and left this cache for my trip home.etc.
thank you for these caches.

I remember as a boy around 60 years ago getting the chance to fly around in a Tiger Moth from this aerodrome. Luckily I had no idea that any plane would land in a tree with the airstrip handy. Very appropriate cache and good hide from passing muggles who probably will have their heads (and eyes) in the clouds if they plan to fly. Tftc
Hmm seems I've missed logging this one after failing to find the Racecourse cache due to lack of time. KK & I called there and here en-route to the CEBC volunteer 'lighthouse keepers' "Thank You" luncheon - via Pihama Lavender garden to purchase Xmas gifts and cache maintenance in Opunake. Innovative cache hide. TFTC
A quick grab here before heading back home after spending the day in hawera catching up with a friend and doing some Christmas shopping. And now back to Stratford in time for the Stratford Civic Service where local volunteers are yhabkes by the council. Tftc
Travelling with Push'n East - returning from a work meeting in New Plymouth. She had a few to grab that she had not claimed on previous trips so I had the luxury of getting it at the same time. Liked this one!
Heading back to Palmerston North after my last work trip to New Plymouth for the year and in exchange for letting Sunju stop at some quilting shops, she let me stop for some caches.
Pulled into the driveway of the airport and quickly spotted where the cache would be hidden. What an impressive massive tree. Didn't take too long to locate the cache, but had to employ a natural tool to get the log out. TFTC
