Time to achive this. Too many local muggles keep snaffling the container, so i will leave the Orphan Bridge alone, just to be admired by the Freedom Campers .
DNF with Debsnz on our way to the Community Celebration event. We knew it was there, we poked, peered, clambered and twisted. We even ate our lunch and stared at it. At the event later we may or may not have been given a hint for next time........
Yep DNF for us here too. We looked, we picked, we twisted and we turned everything we could see but all to no avail
Day 15 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm still in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
I haven't been this far south since my very first holiday to NZ back in 1988, so this part of my tour is a chance to pay Southland a long overdue visit. And of course this is my first time here as a geocacher, so plenty of scope to find caches galore! Today's plan was to spend the morning in and around Invercargill before making my way over towards Monkey Island and then meandering my way up to hopefully get to Queenstown by nightfall. Having had a bit of damp weather over the last day or so, it was good to get the sun back today.
There was no-one else around GZ when I got here, so I was able to conduct my search without interruption. I spent about 15 minutes as I like the challenge of a sneaky cache. Sadly for me, I wasn't up to this challenge so had to walk away empty handed.

Found this evening with some help from the CO. Cache is definitely still there, it is a sneaky hide and well thought out. Thanks Annie, a fav point from us.
Away for 3 full days and 4 night weekend again, with Rebel98 and Aiden29. We have in mind Queenstown, down to Te Anau, Manapouri, as far as we can up towards Milford and later Cromwell. We had some great adventures and some hot and weary walks and a lot of fun.
We had a thorough look for this us 3, no go then we cached elsewhere in Lumsden for awhile, in the mean time I contacted a previous finder and he told us what to look for and so reluctantly we headed back, pretty sure we checked everything. Sure enough, still no cache to find. So had to move on. Nice place for a cache though.

We headed here because of the high favourities and were keen to see the old bridge. We spent nearly an hour scouring both under and above looking and touching but no luck. We contacted a previous finder, as we continued caching, who confirmed what we were looking for. Returned again for another look but after spending more time and with the rain starting we gave up and headed off for dinner.
Searched for 10 minutes before causing a slight injury and having to forfeit the search. Maybe another time. Thanks anyway
A trip from Dunedin to Te Anau for friends’ birthday celebrations. First time using a pocket query.
Geo-hubby found log by the creek, very close to being in the creek!! Managed to dry it enough to sign it. Replaced where we thought it should be. Will send CO a photo. Tftc

This was our last cache for the day. We had read most of the previous logs and came with a number of TOTT - none were needed. A relatively quick find for us.
Just about to reluctantly give up but my 11 year old eagle eyes spotted it. A clever hide!
Took a few minutes to find the right spot. Cache quickly removed, signed and replaced. TFTC
Hello from Perth WA
We found this while on our South Island adventure.
Had to use nearby tool to help with cache extraction.

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more. Today I decided to go for a drive northwards from Lumsden up to Fiver Rivers and Mossburn.
But while I was waiting for my clothes to be washed I located and signed off the caches in town. I PAF'd for this one after 3 pairs looked for it 2 days ago with no joy. Even he couldn't quite remember where. But he gave me enough of nudge for me to finally locate it today.
Cheers for the cache.

On holiday and stopped to park up while we went exploring. We spent a long time going over and under this bridge and had no luck. Gave up after half an hour as the wind was so cold. Will have to try another time if we come this way.
After a hint we searched today again and found the box at the right place.
Nice old bridge with a lot of hiding possibilities.

What a nice bridge. Not easy to find due to hundreds of possible hiding places.
Thanks to Annie for the hint and with the 2nd turn we were lucky to find it.
Worth for a favorite.

Had a look for this one all over with no luck. Later on read the logs and decided to have another go. This time we methodically searched and after a short while we had it. FP awarded. Tftc.
After a night on Doubtful Sound, I then drove from Manapouri to Tapanui, finding a few caches along the way, this being one of them. Took a few passes before I spotted this tricky hide. TFTC! (Apologies for my log being over 4 months late!)
Needs more scrutinizing time for this tricky one. .back to the road trip for now
TFTC.......going from Te Anua to Dunedin today and picking up some caches along the way. We are loving the friendly people and beautiful scenery of New Zealand. Visiting from Sask. Canada.
Looked and looked and looked and about to give up looking when Mrs d spotted something interesting. Cache all good, TFTC
22093 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we went from Te Anau to Queenstown and on the way the where again many caches near the road. At several stops we could find caches and stretch our legs. Great way of traveling.
Tomorrow we will search in Qeenstown itself.
A nasty hidden cache. We started as molls, without result. Then studiying the bridge we noticed some specialties, but too small to hold a container. After a hint we found a big enough one.

Took way longer than it should. Luckily I found it just as the black skies turned to rain and I was literally about to head back to the car!! Tftc
We stopped off in Lumsden on the way from Kingston to Invercargill to charge the electric car which should take roughly the same time as finding a cache! How convenient . Mumander needed some help on this one so we headed there together. This was a really tough one, our first thought was to search for a troll but we weren’t having much luck there. Plenty of loose parts to poke and wobble and look for something out of place. Took us a while by we got there in the end. Great cache. Thanks
Great hide. I looked for this a few weeks back while our EV was charging at the Four Square, but couldn't find in the short time so decided to try again with Anytar when she was visiting from London.
Grab s few on the way home from tramping. Gps had me going back and forth but then spotted it.
We are making our way to Te Anau today. Picking up plenty of caches, as we go, trying to log them all, thanks to all the placers

Wow this gets a FP
we looked around and best we could under then a little something caught our eye but we had to get a solid stick to loosen it from its hidy hole
Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

From the moment this was published, i knew exactly where this was. Today after exploring Mavora, decided to finally grab this one. Easily found the bridge on Anzac day, but cache took a bit longer. Awesome bit of history, love anything to do with trains.
This was a really nice hide easy to spot, tricky to get, worth a fav. thanks for showing the nice bridge!
It took me around 20 min to locate this one after which I then found it was stuck in place I managed to unscrew the base of the container to sign the log but then could not get it back together Luckily I was staying locally and got some tools to extract the remaining bits I've modified the assembly a little so it fits back into it's place again but I suggest the CO has a look some time and does any maintenace considered necessary A favourite for me TFTC
A special one this. On van trip with seventeen others, so a chance to show them geocaching. We blitzed the bridge with people everywhere.
Just when we were about to give up, someone called that this is a bit strange and I knew we had it. Tricky hide . A favourite from me. Tftc

Found this one after about ten minutes near our campsite. Well hidden in a sneaky place!

Cool bridge. Cache had fallen from it's hiding place (which made it easy to find) so we poked it in a bit better
This was a beautiful cash it fit right in to the environment and showed us a really interesting Bridge
I was lucky that a previous finder had given me a hint about this one otherwise it may have taken quite a long time to find. Nicely hidden.
This is a fascinating bit of railway history! Thank you for showing it to us AnnieLin. We looked around the rest of the Lumsden railway precinct - nice to see it's being well cared for - the engines and information are new since our last visit. Looked for this cache in the usual places, then looked in the easy to get to places. Once it was found, spent ages trying to get it out. Fingers, tweezers, sticks, it was stubbornly wedged in there. Mr D eventually got pliers from the car and those did the trick.
Ttc very interesting wasn't sure we were going to get it but not to long had aha moment thank goodness as such a hot day with Ariel 6 & valleysend
Should have logged this last night. Used the option paf as it was a bit of a tricky one. Cool hide easy to retrieve favourite point from me. TFTC
It took us quite a while to find this cache. Initially we looked high and low, until we decided the terrain rating was telling us something. We then soon spotted the cache, but needed a tool to retrieve it, as it had jammed. The coordinates were fairly good, although for us, they had us on the wrong side of the bridge. A nice little old bridge and a sneaky hide, which gets a favourite from us. TFTC
Searched two times for it together with Kerstin.nds during our stay in Lumsden. It was hard to find the cache, but we finally found it!
Good hide on an unexpected spot. Great one!

Not the easiest one to locate! Took us quite some time to find, and then it was just so obvious! TFTC!!
Found with goldielover here today in the rain. Really loved this cache. While it didn't take me long to find it. Took a little to retrieve. Lucky we had some retrieval implements with us from Brisbane in our kit.
Thanks for a great cache in a magic area.
Easy favourite point

Heading back from Kingston and called by for this one.
Weather has improved as I've travelled south. Even a hint of blue sky. Very little wet stuff falling, nor enough to bother putting on an extra layer.
Thanks for the smilie.

Found with stairman1 in the way to Bluff. The weather is starting to turn nasty but stairman1 managed to grab the container. Did a bit of maintenance so it is easier to retrieve.
Trip to collect daughter from plane in Queenstown. Stopped along the way to find this and stretch legs.

Found with mr chosen on way to Queenstown to pick up daughter. Very good hide. Had us stumped for a while but got that eureka moment. Log signed and returned to hide.
Spent a bit of time here. Enough to get hungry and sample my first Jimmys Pie when a pit stop was needed. Cue dash across the road. Had overlooked but luckily found before the last bite. Tftc
Spent a long time looking. Even went over and got a Jimmy's pie to eat while doing so. Nice hide. Tftc
Looked and looked. Finally we find it. I was with Downsouthinv and sunny900. This is Amazing cache.

Team Northwood headed south again for a bit of a break before Christmas. Into Dunedin and then around the Caitlins and Bluff, back up via Wanaka and Tekapo to Christchurch. Saw heaps, did heaps, fitted in a few caches along the way.
Had a really good look around this bridge to no avail. Lots of places it could be hidden, and hidden too well for me.
We had lunch nearby while traveling to Wanaka.

SL a couple of weeks ago. Walked past after Bday party nearby today. The little bit in hide was visible from the bridge without having to look too closely. Beaut day in Lumsden but water restrictions are on already. TFTC
