My work team did the two bridges walk this morning and ended up having coffee (well, hot chocolate for me) at the cafe just near Blundells Cottage. The other woman from my office came up to help me with the counting here, then accompanied me to find the cache on the way back to our cars. Thanks for the cache, Tankengine!
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra for ANZAC day. With a late morning start we were on the bikes through EPIC to the light rail then the plan was to ride between the bridges of Lake Burley Griffin but alas too many caches and too little time so another day at least to finish that task. Bit of a breeze today so whilst sunny it was still a little cool. some lengthy search didnt help with our time management. We saw at least 2 school groups cycling around the lake, lucky for us they were going the other way, whilst we were stopped having lunch. Collected the info then had lunch at the nearby cafe before heading to add our name to the log.TFTC Tankengine
When we made a walk at the lake, we visited some Caches. Thias was one of our founds today. Thank you to the owner for this cache.
I solved this one when we were here for Skyfire. Back today to sign the log. Thanks for bringing back for this piece of Canberra history. TFTC
We are on our way back home from our trip to the MEGA in Adelaide and to Canberra. And are checking in rain breaks (yes in Queensland) which caches are still to log.We came across this building through geocaching, and at once I remembered that my mum was always telling that she arrived in the early 50ies with a seabox - like this one here.We talked for a while with the volunteer lady (her son got bitten by a snake whilst caching), gathered the info for the Multi, found this cache and signed the log.Tftc Tankengine
Since I'm in Canberra for Mega, I've enjoyed seeing many places as well as the warm weather. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache ?? Tankengine.
2/4/2024 Find #6968The final day in Canberra for KBreeAHH, Captain Terror and me, and we were going to pack it with caching before handing the hire car back and relaxing in the lounge at the airport. Having been up as far as Murrumbateman and then Yass this morning, we were now back down in Canberra for our final caches. We had decided to do a walking circuit around here to complete our mission. While Captain Terror sat and relaxed here having already found this cache, KBreeAHH and I set to work gathering the information required and doing our calculations. With calculations done we made our initial coord entry but it had us in the water. HmmmmmAhhh typing error putting numbers in ph. All answers were correct, so with the typo sorted we had a good set of coords that took us straight to a quick find. Thanks for the cache Tankengine.
Found during the Mega event. Tankengine, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
A cooler day for wandering the inner Canberra locations.A bit of light rain in the morning, sunny skies in the afternoon and a cold breeze to end the day.We enjoyed doing a few Adventure Labs, trads, multis, and other caches.Well done for the locations and the hides. Thanks to Tankengine for this multi, an interesting old building, glad it is being looked after.
Found on Easter Sunday during the Canberra mega.Lots of bunnies around GZ.TFTC
Love checking out these old buildings. This one is very well preserved. Thanks for the straight forward multi
Find # 11040Nice quick find.Great multi, gets a favourite point from. We've travelled to Canberra for the Capital GeoBash Mega event this Easter long weekend. We have parked our van at Capital Country Holiday Park for the next few nights and are looking forward to catching up with our old caching friends and meeting new friends.TFTC Tankengine 31 March 2024 12:37
We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We have hired bikes to ride around the lake today.
We stay for a week in Canberra with TBU1BIKESU for the MEGA 2024.We are stopping for some smileys. We found this cache and signed the log. Thanks for the cache to the CO. Tankengine
After a great drive by at Mt Ainslie we had lunch at a favourite cafe (near chemist) in Ainslie Shops. Then we are going to look for caches we put on a list at home. We parked near Blundell Cottage, so doing a multi there before continuing. Thanks Tankengine for creating and maintaining this cache
As part of the tour group, we walked a ton of miles and signed all the caches as LT2. Another cool multi, this time by our tour guide. I think he has to be the busiest hider in the area and I'm grateful for that. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 3 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega from the U.S. and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It was another day that started with an awesome tour around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was warm and the cachers were friendly. We were led by tankengine, one of the cachers who had a hand in the gadget caches at the mega, has awesome mysteries and other caches in the area. He kept us moving the entire time and we were able to get all the caches on our list. Then I attended the mega which was a lot of fun. There were so many people! The gadget caches were amazing, the adventure labs were fun, and the evening get together for trivia was a blast. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
While attending the Capital Geobash with scramping we participated in the 3.5hr Walking Tour around Lake Burley Griffin with Tankengine. We stopped at some pretty cool locations along the way.We signed all the logbooks with LT2 to save space in them.I had visited this cottage during the Queanbeyan Mega Ghost Tour. It was nice to visit again during the day.TFTC and the tour Tankengine
Day 5 of our Capital Geobash mega-holiday, and first up for us this morning was to join the tour of Lake Burley Griffin, led by our wonderful guide Tankengine. This tour was heaps of fun, and all caches signed as LT2.While we had visited this location back in 2019 as part of the Queanbeyan Mega ghost tour, Chook revisited last year with her friend WendyB158, but had failed dismally in trying to find the cache. Keen to see where she had gone wrong today, she realised she had a couple of numbers incorrect - and vital numbers at that, which made a huge difference of course. Maybe she needs her eyes tested again or to learn how to count properly. So it was a huge relief to be able to complete this one today. TFTC Tankengine.
Found with hevwalker on the Lake Burley Griffin Tour 2. All logs are signed as LT2 to save space. Beautiful views during the walk around this part of lake. Thanks for being our guide and for taking us on this tour. The cottage was a beautiful walk through history, will have to go back one day and take more time to reflect on his life. Tftc Tankengine

On our bikes today. We were suppose to be having a non caching day, going to visit the sister-in-law, however she had to cancel due to important client meetings. The price of being a small business owner. Hall was on the cards but we decided to leave that for another day and go into the lake, picking up what we could and adding a few Ad Labs.Did the required calculartions and rode on to GZ. all good.Total Caches Found 15680TFTC Tankengine
Enjoyed this multi after lunch on our return journey to the GeoPathfinder. Nice shady spot which agreed with these 'ol Taswegians. Thanks for a now familiar object and log Tankengine.
Today I had a plan on grabbing a variety of caches and all with a varying degree of types and difficulties. There is a great number of caches with special attributes and d/t's around town. For me it was an early start and I first took off to grab a cache and a virtual after I had fueled up at the local servo. I then raced off to grab a few more before I had to meet up with my caching buddy of the day Grannysmith. We had a huge day and a lot of laughs, there were few stories to catch up on and some great caches.Logs were signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks for the hides. This was fun and at dusk even more fun, chasing all the rabbits in the area, lol.
TFTC smile 19793 out and about on sunny day in Canberra with so much to do signing as 5 for Qld what a great team we make and lots of laughter and fun Thank you Tankengine for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Wandered around the cottage to get the hints, lots of dead rabbits everywhere
Found a plausible GZ so wandered over , didn't look promising at all once we got there. Spotted a likely spot about 10m away so thought we'd have a look before giving enough and hey presto there it was

A trip to ACT with Chewinprickles - Day two on the deadly treadlies with Captain Tomato.
It started very chilly, but turned out a nice day for a ride.
Not sure if they had pizzas when this building was built!
But we collected out clues and made a quick find in a nice section of park.
Thanks, Robmc.

Final Day - Day #5 [18-2] of 5 for my trip away. Today is the end of my trip away but I still have two days of leave before reality takes over. The main focus for today’s finds were the newer Labs in Queanbeyan. I also found a few other caches around Canberra, including the ones around the Blundells' Cottage. This is the first time visiting this historic site and better yet, I even got a tour of the lovely building. This was all before heading to the Belconnen mall for lunch and shopping. Afterwards, I headed off to another cache which has been on the to-find-list for far too long. Now it’s time to head home. It’s sad to see it come to the end but I have many new memories for years to come. It was great to use Geocaching as my guide because it took me to many unique places both I already knew about and others I certainly didn’t, until now. My next big Geocaching trip I am looking forward to, is to Rutherglen for the mega. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTC’s
P.S. Sorry, about the generic logs. I will endeavour to edit them at some point in the future for the extended story, FP’s and/or photos. This is when I have more time on my hands.

Went down an unhelpful rabbit hole with one of the clues, but my path was corrected after inspecting the area further.

After delivering a two-day workshop, today is a chill-out and explore Canberra day for MissSpondonicle and I. Several hours in Questacon, a wander around Floriade and now we're a bit ready to aim back for the day and find food. So, just a bit more walking along Lake Burley Griffin towards some scooters. And more walking along the shoreline is by now means a complaint.
Looking at the map first though, I pick out some geocaches and MissS, being a fan of the multicache type agrees we should look for this. Our walk is quite lovely, chattering while taking in the sights of the capital. While I had scootered along here a few days ago, it was nice to move slower and appreciate it differently. The abundance of rabbits still blows my Queenslander mind!
We came close to this cottage and the first stop was to read the history. To explore inside, we're here on the right day, but much too late. But at least there's no muggles about as we do a few laps collecting information. It's much faster doing this with a friend than alone (as I'm used to).
Teamwork for the maths too, and the final location projection looked good. A bit more of a walk and we arrived at a likely location. I quickly spotted the geocache, closely followed by MissS. I liked this container, small and solid, suitably tethered. Just after 17:00 the logbook was signed, then all replaced as found.
I liked this. A simple multicache, a piece of easy-to-miss history and another day exploring the ACT for the first time. Thanks for this geocache, Tankengine

Spending a couple of days in and around ACT with 3 Queenslanders and 1 Tasmanian, then down to the coast for a few days! Weather not great so we have been trying to get caches that are not long walks so we can keep reasonable dry.
We found a cache guardian! As Lady membsec was going to grab the container we saw a bunny. The poor thing ran away but for some strange reason it came back to where my hand was as I was getting the container so we picked it up and gave it a cuddle!

#806 Turtle284 and I had previously been here and put together some coordinates a long while ago. We, at the time had put together coordinates that didn’t look like they were right and decided to leave it for another day. Upon returning to the posted coordinates today the error was spotted and I was able to head over to GZ. It was good to avenge this one because although I didn’t DNF it at the time it’s one of those ones that has eluded me for some while. Thanks Tankengine for the hide and highlighting the cottage
Counting rivets I'd not my strong point, so I only gave it one chance, fortunately successful. TftMC.

Out on my bike today doing some more caching. We are going to go to a place that has no caches tomorrow so decided to do one last trip before we leave. Only problem is that it is REALLY hot, and I got badly sunburnt (even though I put on sunscreen every two hours :/) Spent 9 hours going around Canberra to get caches. Good day!
TOTAL HAUL FOR TODAY: 17 CACHES SPREAD OVER 7 TYPES (yay another PB )
I have attempted to solve this cache a lot of times but my answer always put me in the lake for some reason. However, this time I understood one of the questions which had caused me issues previously. Then calculated GZ which luckily WASN'T in the lake. Rode over for the quick find. TFTC Tankengine!

I scouted this out a couple of weeks ago, but thought I'd leave it for a day like today.
I had thought I would go for my usual midweek leisurely caching after 10 pm, but between big rain storms and me baking a birthday cake, that suddenly wasn't really an option. So I thought, this one would be the best to get while the cake was in the oven.
Blundell's cottage actually looks really nice at night, illuminated by spotlights.

DeadThief and I had visited the cottage some time ago and put together what we believed at the time to be viable final coordinates. Not being in a position at the time to search for the cache itself we left it for another day.
Upon loading our coordinates I found that we had put ourselves in the middle of the lake, so came back past today to see where we had gone wrong.
The error of our ways was soon rectified and I headed to the GZ for any easy find.
Cheers for a fun little multi!

We decided to walk around the lake after lunch, on the way we thought we would check out Blundell's Cottage. Once we got there, we found it had the maximum number of people visiting due to Covid so as I was checking out the answers to this cache my wife was chatting to one of the volunteers who show you around. Anyway as the cottage cleared out and we could go inside, he was very helpful and informative about the history of the cottage.
After the guided tour I worked out the numbers for GZ and headed off, my wife soon spotted it so then we continued our walk despite the strong biting wind coming off the lake.

Such lovely autumn weather. To nice not be out.
After figuring out the co-ords made the quick trip over.

Rechecked my calculations and made an adjustment where I was uncertain.
2nd spot much better. Cache quickly found. And no national security incidents to boot.
