Had to wash my hands after this one with the urban rubbish nearby. I tried to find this cache this morning after the phoenix cache. Had another look at the logs and second time quite straight forward. The yellow pohutokawa is now coming into flower. Thanks for the information about it. I had assumed each tree was an individual mutation rather than setting from seed. Have enjoyed finding these NP caches while visiting the garden festival.
After some confusion about which side of the street to look, the accurate coordinates took us to the right place to hunt and the camo container was soon found. Looks like some muggle kids found and signed it before us but thankfully it was returned intact. We actually have a yellow pohutukawa in our garden but the flowers are more lemon coloured rather than the bright yellow flowers in the photo provided. Thanks Phronimos for this interesting urban cache!
Sorry last DNF was pushed in error. But I still cant find it - but its dark and quite busy tonight in town. So I may have to tackle this another time.
Easy find if you think twice about the hint. First guess and straight on the target.
OK there's a bit of rubbish here... cans etc, **but this geocache is still in place. And it's still a blank log since I replaced it May 2023.** Its a sneaky hide as its in a very public spot.Unfortunately all the DNF logs are by geocachers with less than a couple of dozen finds... so far.Ill be deleting the online so called 'Found' logs. Cheers, P

The cache I replaced in May 2023 is still there... with still a blank log. Hmm no Czechia signature either. Also Myrtle has her dress on already
Hahaha definitely a late night super stealth shoelace tying grab. Trust the GPS.
We had to muggle around for a long time but finally found it! Trust your GPS.

Heading back to camp from town on the bike. I made short work of this park and grab as I passed by.

Heading up to New Plymouth with BFG for a weekend out of Wellington.
Initially thought I should be the other side of the road, but my phone suggested otherwise. Glad I ignored it! Then failed to spot the bleeding obvious! Eventually the penny dropped....
21 January 2023 12:51 Number 12267 for me. TFTC Phronimos for placing this cache for us to find.

After reading the hint was clever and when approaching GZ, I got an idea. Quick check and indeed, got it, tftc!
Had it spotted quickly. Getting on the other hand was the challenge. Quick grab and completed the paper work. Job done. Nice cache. TNLN
Found it with Ted but didn't write on it. What a mission!simple but tricky. Think outside the box
Out for an early morning walk on a Sunday morning, we stopped to find this cache. A busy intersection, so we had to time extracting and replacing this cache back quick Find here as per the hint. TFTC
I get a small thrill every time I find a cache that was DNF'ed by the last cacher. Thanks for the placement.
Thinking been Good Friday there would be no one around, KFC was open and that smells so good, but I was here to get this cache, walk straight to it, took the cache back to the car to sign, the guys moving furniture into the old Waves building didn't even notice me tftc Phronimos
Even later in the day it was still very busy along here, but that didn't stop me from making a find of this cool cache, nicely done, cheers
A quick find by torchlight late in the evening with almost nobody around. Nicely hidden! Signed log, TFTC.
Naturally ignored the coordinates at first and had a sneaky look around. Then realising the mistake we took a second look at the GPS and the cache was quickly and stealthily retrieved, signed and logged.

Was expecting it to be across the street so started looking there. Then realised the gps was pointing us elsewhere. Quickly found between bursts of traffic.
Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.
Greetings from Dunedin!
Thanks for the cache, Phronimos

Having a few days in NP, this one didn’t prove to be an issue. The log was a different case. Fell to pieces so have replaced it with a new clean log sheet. Thanks for the cache Phronimos.
Staying in New Plymouth for the weekend. This evening walked into town and picked up 4 caches in high muggle areas. With the specific hint it was no problem finding this one even in the dark. Cache and log all fine. Thanks Phronimos.
Struggled to make a mark with my leaden writing stick on the wet paper which was already slightly torn beside where I was attempting to write. TFTC
Well, I had a most enjoyable journey to find this cache today.
A few days ago, I couldn't sleep so after getting up to do a few jobs, I went back to bed and still couldn't sleep so scrolled through Facebook and saw a post for a movie that was releasing this week and thought yeah that would be nice. So booked tickets and went back to sleep. A couple of days later, I had taken the day off from school to go back to the dentist for a follow up procedure which I thought would take a lot longer than it did. Anyway, with a bit of free time on my hands on what turned out to be a mental health day, I did some life admin which I struggle to normally get too including taking my car for it's warrant - it failed on it's wipers and brake light. All good.
Anyway, today I spent the morning at home doing reports and then headed into town just after lunch in some pretty awful rain. I nearly considered changing my movie session to tomi, but I'm pleased I didn't because everything just lined up. I firstly called into Super cheap Auto for wipers and not only did the lovely person behind the counter replace them for me bit she save me $50 by switching them to ones that only the rubber needed replacing not the whole thing. They could also replace the break light, just not in the weather today. Anyway after this nice experience, I called into spotlight to get some more thread for my current cross stitch, I thought I wasn't going to find one color but someone else had put the next shade down on that color, not much of a difference in color to the naked eye - kind of like the slight colour change you see in project gc going from 9 finds per day to 10. Anyway while I was there I also saw some nice desk caddy's which I thought would be a perfect addition to my class. Score. By now a slight idea was forming about changing my movie time to am hour earlier and would only mean about a 30 minute wait. So I headed to the movies and parked up right outside. Score. Eventually found a pay machine that was working and paid for my parking and then changed my movie time. Brilliant. Still had a little bit of time so walked down Devon Street collecting some munzees when I spotted a Sushi train place. Hmmm to bad, still to early for tea. Anyway went to the movie and despite reading some reviews that absolutely dumped on this movie, I really enjoyed it. After the movie (which on one side of me had two kids talking loudly the whole time and behind me a lady laughing at the most random unfunny moments) I decided to see if the Sushi Train place was busy, it wasn't so got a table and enjoyed a couple of platefuls, bless! After not being able to eat much or properly for the last week or so due to a dental procedure, this was just perfect Right everything else is lining up today but I just have to find a cache for a dot day.
I walked to the cache and timed my search, I couldn't see anything so was just feeling for it and finally I came up with the goods, went around the corner and signed it. Timed my replacement find and walked off with a smile. I had actually looked for this once before after watching my favorite movie, I didn't find it that day but this epic movie made sure that even though I didn't find it, I left with a smile.
The only dark spots on my day were stopping off at the public toilets in Inglewood and the lights being off. Slight omen as when I got home the outside light I had left on blew and may have also blew the light in the garage.
But all in all, a most enjoyable day and it was nice to finally get this cache.

#9596. The last day of my four day trip to Taranaki. Making my way back to Wellington today. After three fine days the weather changed overnight and now its raining, windy and rather chilly. Was planning to just head south to Inglewood and an Adventure Lab. But noticed it was very quiet in the city on a wet Sunday morning and so decided it was a good time to stop and do this one without many muggles watching on. Still had to time it right with the traffic lights but soon I had the cache in hand. Signed the log around the corner and replaced the cache where found. Our next door neighbour has a yellow pohutukawa on their property so I am familiar with this variety. While its a novelty I still prefer the rich scarlett hues of the NZ Christmas tree. Thanks Phronimos for hiding a cache here.
Work has sent me to Hawera and New Plymouth to fix some issues at those branch offices, and I've been driven up by my Team Leader who also had a meeting while there.
We've just left the NP office and I'm navigating (mwahahaha!)...
"Hey Boss, can you pull in to the Repco car park just up here?"
"Sure, is there something you need?"
"ahh... yeah, kinda! "
I jumped out of the car and raced off up the street rather than into the shop.
It took me a few moments to find the container and sign the log, and then I ran back to the car.
Apparently he knew exactly what I was up to when I left the car park, but was gracious enough not to leave me marooned.
Thanks for highlighting this tree, I did not know of Yellow Pohutukawa before today.

I arrived in New Plymouth and had some time before dinner, so I came by and found this one. I finally got this DNF off my map. I thought it would be in one place, but I just followed my GPSr and spotted the cache right where I found a driver's license the last time. TFTC.
First cache of the day. Waiting for the bike hire to open - RG1972 goes for a chai latte; I search for this cache. Quiet this time of a Sunday morning, so was pretty stealthy. TFTC Phronimos.
Third day of a 10 day lower Nth Island road trip, and we have the day in New Plymouth. Started the day with a bike hire and a ride up the coast to Bell Block. Some little caches on the way, but also some great views. Was just early enough to get a picture of Mt Taranaki in all its cloudless glory framed by the Te Rewa Rewa bridge - absolutely no show of this on the way back. Very busy along here. Went north toward the port end as well, then ditched the bikes and strolled around Pukekura Park enjoying the views, plants, weather and a spot of rep cricket. Will be back tonight for the Festival of Lights. Thanks all COs for the cache placements that helped fill in the day.

After starting the year off right with breakfast at McDonald’s we kept going with our theme of starting the year out right and found our first geocache of the year. A quick find today. TFTC
Finally we can turn this DNF into a smiley. This must be our 4th visit here now and thanks to the replacement today we spotted it instantly. TFTC and Happy New Year
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
We soon had another good cache located.
*No problem, quick stop!*
