I found myself at this area with a boat full of muggles. While most of them were fishing a couple of us searched for this cache. We found remnants of it and a “W” was marked. Unfortunately my trip out here was a last minute decision so I didn’t have a spare container and logbook. This is a wonderful location.
Cheers

We looked on two occasion once at New Years and mid April.
We couldn’t find it on either occasions. Mosquitos were a hinderance but we could not locate at the coordinates after searching for 30mins on both occasions.

We anchored off Jumpinpin at the northern end of South Stradbroke in our catamaran, Montage on our sailing week in Moreton Bay.
The sun was finally out today after a cloudy rainy and very windy first few days. We took the dinghy to shore and dodged the soldier crab armies to cross the sandflats to the dunes.
Not far around the top to the ocean side with the impressive scene of seemingly everlasting mostly untouched dunes. We skirted the forest edge to gz and soon found the remains of the cache hide. Just some cable ties on a tree. I signed a piece of blue plastic that I had collected on the way and wedged it into the cable tie. I was pretty sure this was the correct location but unfortunately did not have a proper replacement container with me.
I notice now that I am logged a week or so later, that the geotour has ended, which is disappointing as we just had a couple more to find to get the whole lot. Some had not had clues though and been in varying states of repair so we probably would not have been able to complete the "passport" anyway. Great idea though! I had hoped the caches would continue to be maintained...

Whilst completing the Fish and Cache series of puzzle caches we decided to grab the traditionals as we came near them.
These caches are being found by way of kayak.
This was the first cache that we found once we made it to South Stradbroke Island.
This cache is definately not how the cache description describes it however we did find a replacement log and cache zip tied to a tree.

Quick and easy find of plastic bag zip tied to tree with toilet paper log inside. Great location.
We completed the fish series and traditionals around South Moreton Bay Island all by Kayak and walking. We stopped to camp overnight. Was a very enjoyable adventure using sit on top kayaks and hammock tents.
On day 1 we completed in this order, one of the caches may be out of order. We used two cars. One was parked at Jacobs Well and the other at Paradise Point tomsave back tracking. We had a very early start leaving Jacobs Well with the high tide.
Fish and Cache series, 16, 23, 19, 20, 22, Crusoe House Boat, 21, 18, 17, Jumpinpin Passage, Fish Cache Series 24, 3, 2, 1, 5, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 2 Goats in a Boat Fish Series 12.
Day 2
Camped overnight near Fish Series 11.
Fish and Cache Series 11, 57 km from Mexican, Fish and Cache Series 13, 14, 15, Dux's Hut, The Sand Dunes, Tipplers, (we had a break here and bought breakfast from the shops here). As the Sun Sets, Wallaby Lawn, Step Back in Time, The Bora Ring, Easy for Some, Minbalup, and Canoe Tree. We then paddled from here back to Paradise Point.
The adventure was fairly straigt forward, saw lots of sting rays, so make sure you have foot wear on when pushing kayaks across the mud flats which we had to do on afew occasions. I even had a fish decide to join me in the kayak. I quickly put him straigt back into he water. We were both quite exhausted on the final leg back to Paradise Point as we were going against the tide.
All in all was a fun adventure and I would recommend doing it by kayak over two days.

Mrs P14 and I trotted in here and spent a long time looking for this cache. I checked the previous logs and found that the cache itself was missing and only the cable ties holding it remained. As this was Mrs Patrol14s second visit here we persisted in the search for them but spent way too much time doing that. Conscious of the receding tide and that Mr Patrol14 would be getting worried about our lenghty absence we decided we would have to leave with a DNF which would have been very dissapointing, especially for Mrs P14.
As we were walking away I spotted the cable ties. They were about 11 meters from the most recent change of coordinates. I had a roll of toilet paper and a snap lock bag with me, so we used a few sheets of that as a substitute log, popped it into the snap lock and tucked it under one of the cable ties. We redefined the term "log rolling" here today!
We quickstixed back to the water to find a worried Mr Patrol14 standing in calf deep water holding the boat about 50 meters offshore as the tide had dropped so much in the time we were away. We pushed it out further until we had enough water under it to not ground when we boarded and got on our way.
This is the only one of the Geo Tour series I have done and I'm not that keen to do anymore after our experience here today.
It is a great idea, but as it is, this Geo Tour really needs a bit more work to sort out its problems. Some input and assistance from experienced cachers would help get it working as should and then it would encourage more people to come and do it.

With high tide about 10am today, hubby decided that a day on the water was just what he needed to get a day off from work and have fun chasing fish. We invited echocage1 along for the ride and had an enjoyable day finding these caches.
I had tried to find this cache in December 2017 but was not where the coordinates were listed at the time. As it is a challenge to get I really wanted to find this one so I can finish off my geo-tour list.
Noted the new coordinates and what we were looking for, we arrived at GZ and searched and searched but couldn't find anything like a birdhouse. Found the cable ties from previous finders log and then realised cache is missing. Made a logsheet from what we had on hand and put it under the cable ties. We are claiming a find but still need the codeword for the geotour sheet.
CO needs to return to this one and replace if missing.

5 found, 7 to go
Claiming a find. Cache itself was missing but found the cable ties that would have secured it in place.

Number 5 on geo tour with fourtrikiseekers. Only saw one vehicle on the beach on our journey to the top by bicycle. Claiming a find as we found where the cache was (see pic). Great ride up and down the beach. Thanks for the adventure.

Sunday. We managed to collect this cache today whilst in the area collecting some other caches that have been recently released. We gathered the necessary information and signed the log. Nice walk to this cache. We managed to collect only a little sand in our shoes on the way to this cache
This was the 11th of 25 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***CouranCove***, for showing us this place.

That was a fun drive up along the beach in the 4WD thanks Paulo.
I found some shells while the rest of the group found the cache here.

This is our 3rd time to visit this beautiful place. Each time the sand dunes look different but equally interesting. Paul our 4wd driver gave us a very good commentary along the way.
We parked 600 m away. Upon approaching the gz a
wallaby was spotted which jumped away before I could get the camera.
TFTC CouranCove. Quick easy find. Nice container.

Earlier today after finding the Blue Gum Point cache, we met up with some geo friends who had kindly made the arrangements for us to join them on a 4WD tour and our drivers name was Paul.
I must make mention that Paul was the most professional, knowledgeable and accommodating person I have met in a long while, can't believe he even walked the long distance across the heavy dunes to help us look for this cache.
Of my goodness, now I know why we didn't find this one on our last visit, it was tucked away nicely in an area well away from the ever moving sand. Nice neat hide here, great camo and a favorite point from me.

I've been eyeing up the GeoTour on this island since it was first published. Having negotiated dates, times, work and exams, I decided to bring Jess over for a few nights, after she'd finished her exams and before the school holiday rush.
Today we buddied up with a couple of other geocachers and set off on our previously booked 4wd GeoTour adventure. We had the super helpful, super friendly Paul as our GeoTour Guide, and couldn't have asked for a better chauffeur! There were the northern caches from the GeoTour to be found plus a few others we wanted to fish out... and lucky for us, today Paul was able to be flexible with the dropping off and picking up and he even helped us find a few of the caches.
Our Tour Guide was informative and interesting, I learned about the history and the sand mining of the area, about a few birds around, albino wallabies, and he even pointed out some whales in the ocean which were migrating. OMG how cool is that! I think Paul organised that especially for us. Thanks!
When we got as close to this cache as the 4WD can, we realised why we needed the 2 1/2 hour 4wd GeoTour and I was glad I had been so specific that this was our intention when I phoned and booked it! It's a bit of a walk over the sand dunes to find this cache, but it was a pretty easy find and a neat container. Paul the Super Guide even walked with us to find it.
Thanks for the cache and GeoTour, CouranCove!

Seeing as the youngest team member of DAB was on a holiday up north, I asked if she could find at least one cache for us. Well she took that literally, well one is better than none. While enjoying some four wheeling, they made the detour to this hide. Thanks for placing the hide in such a beautiful area.

We were unable to look for this cache despite going on the resort 4WD tour which was noted in their general information leaflet under “Geocaching Tour” as being “required to access parts of the Island” Our tour guide did not know anything about the geotour and was not able to get closer than 750m away or allow enough time to wait!
Today we did Dux’s Hut and Sand Dunes by foot from the resort but missed out on Jumpinpin as leaving tomorrow. Very disappointing!

We had already done the rest of the tour on foot a couple of weekends beforehand but this one was just a bit far to go once the rain started. We decided to book with Broadwater taxis and got a boat ride across. Next we just had to make our way through the millions of soldier crabs and then find the prize.
Thank you for the Geotour, it's been great!
Thank you for the Geotour, it's been great!
We had the day to ourselves, our cache blockers had no choice but to sit at home and work on assignments, finally there is something good about getting older, no more assignments for us and you can leave the teens behind. They were keen for us to get out of the house and not disturb while they cracked on with their school work, that was code for ‘they were keen for us to get out of the house so they didn’t have to do as much work if we were there.’ That suited us just fine as we were keen to hit the water ways with this cracker weather.
We set off from home a bit later than anticipated, el vino did flow last night, that must have been the cause for our later start. Arriving at the boat ramp you could clearly see everyone else knew this was a great day to be on the water as well. We waited our turn, parked the geo-beast and we were off. The tide is low so we anchored up to the closest point and headed off for the walk dodging as many soldier crabs as possible. It was like a landmine, you just didn’t want to put your foot down anywhere. We had to stop a few times and watch the duel between a couple of big ones, then we headed over for our first find for the day.
Up the dunes we went to start this geo-tour and the view didn’t disappoint, the cache was found but Mrs 4ando had no idea how to get in it and with a little shake couldn’t even hear a log moving about in there, turning it around and upside down…how does this work. Then Mr 4ando peers over and just goes here open this, how on earth was that missed, blonde moment, leaving a favourite point here as we already know this is going to be a great day.

Finally we have completed the Geotour! Last time we were here the cache had gone missing. This time the coordinates were spot on and although we approached it from a different angle that was probably intended, it wasn't long before we reached GZ. Mrs. Herbz had done her homework and knew what to look for. The cute cache container was soon spied. All good here and an FP from us. We have enjoyed this series very much and would definitely recommend it. TFTC Couran Cove.
My second cache of the tour! and our last cache on South Straddie today. Trekked through the bush from the southwest and climbed to the cache. Coordinates were spot on. An easy find and I recorded the clue.. We returned to the boat by circling around the bush to the north and west.
Many thanks CouranCove

We were out caching on a glorious Autumn day. The skies were blue and the waters flat. We came straight to this one from the West and found it just at the listed coords. After signing up we circled north to get around and back to the boat.
Thanks for the cache CouranCove!

Part of the heavy responsibility of being a crew member is that not all can be in the 'shore party', so I graciously offered to stay on guard duty, while the others went to find the cache. It was tough, but I managed to do my duty with aplomb! I was surprised by the vitriol I received from the rest of the crew upon their return, but this is water off a ducks back really! Thanks for the cache.
Just one more. I had been tagging along with some fellow cacher that I had met much further down the island. They were just in front of me when I landed on the beach for this one.
My GPSr batteries had gone flat, so I simply followed their footsteps - literally - to GZ. Oh, and the blue beacon of a rashie that keepingupwith was wearing really did stand out in the trees. [:o)]
A nice easy find for me with 3 cachers to lead me right to it.
Another great day out on the island. 13 finds for the day. No DNFs and a total of 29km travelled, mostly by surf ski, but about 2km on foot I would say.

With a considerable number of puzzles collected so far today it was a pleasant change to be faced with a traditional cache instead of straining the brain matter on solving a puzzle. Again the crew on the SS Motorised Bathtub were joined by the paddling TeamDFL on the walk to GZ. No problems with these coordinates, leading us straight to the cache hide. TFTC
The first of our geotour journey today and little miss direction has graduated to her own account so look out for Clues_Blues log to follow. It took awhile for our eyes to adjust to this one we were looking in the right place but just suffering from cache blindness thankfully we eventually had success and could get the ball rolling TFTC

FTF with dahumbug and monkey maker.
This cache was one on our to-do list today. Getting close we notice that GZ was located out in the water. So we decided to go to shore and make some plans. While I was anchoring the boat monkey makers and dahumbug worked on solving things. By the time I had set things up with the boat the other two already had a new set of coordinates to check out.
I wasn’t long and we found just what we came here for, but to our surprise we discovered that we are the first to find on this cache. After doing the honours of signing our names on the new log and putting things back the way we found it. We started heading back to the boat until we realised that we forgot to record the “secret word/phrase” to put on our Geo Tour passport, so a quick walk back and the jobs done.

FTF whoo hoo. Found with dahumdug and coolumroo.
We homed in on the little blue dot but we soon sailed straight past it as we beached the yacht. Mmm, well that didn't seem right. GZ is 30m out into the water. We read and reread the listing trying to work out what was up, still nothing. Then I had a thought, I've seen this problem before but for the life of me I couldn't remember how to get the numbers we needed. So while the boys anchored the boat I thumbed through past cache logs until I found what I was after. Then it was just a quick calculation and we had a good looking GZ. It was just 300 odd meters away. We trekked over and how happy were we to find this one. A definite unexpected FTF.
Thanx for the adventure CouranCove.

**FTF** with CoolumRoo and monkeymaker.
After finding the cache across the bar on North Straddy, we found ourselves looking at GZ out in the water. After Coolumroo setup a loop-anchor system, monkey had an epiphany that the coordinates were taken in dd mm.ss, so he converted some numbers while we were on the beach and we had some nice looking numbers. We did the 300metre walk to GZ through midgee-ville and CoolumRoo spotted the container in no time. The secret word was noted and 'our perfect day' was just starting to build momentum. There was a really cool sand dune that looked like a wave here. Wish I had a surfboard for a great photo opportunity.
Thanks CouranCove.

Our last cache needed to complete the GeoTour. We headed up from Couran Cove after a very nice overnight stay on Saturday night. Parking the Geoski as close as we could we headed over the sand dunes to GZ with much anticipation. We found the huge branch sticking out of the sand as is the hint picture. But sadly there was no birdcage or any other container ziptied to it....noooooo - we were so close to our goal. Ah well, its a beautiful spot and the waves were spectacular thanks to Tropical Cyclone Gita stirring things up. We will just have to come back another time.
I confirm I have visited this location and that the cache had been muggled.
I have replaced it with an official Geocaching birdhouse that I have secured to the branch using a zip tie.

Looking at the map, I thought this was only going to be a 3-4 km walk from Clayton's Lake!
Very disappointed to not have found this cache in such a beautiful location with geo buddies today. As suggested in a previous log, a basic Earthcache would be more suitable due to the never ending shifting sands.
Thanks for bringing us here CouranCove

Out with Snickersallan, JACS Team and E(: for an FTF Hunt and a Geo Tour.
Our plan of action to get to this one was to hire a 4WD and driver to take us up here to find this cache but unfortunately it didn't happen.
We all searched the location (there is no where else to hide a cache here!) but couldn't locate this one.
Either it is covered in sand or blown to the four winds!
Unhappy to get a sad face for this one.
Maybe another day...
Thanks for bringing us here for an adventure.
Saw a flock of terns on the beach and was quite a sight when they took flight.

Wow we hired a 4wd and driver to get all the way out here only for disappointment. Spent a good 30 mins on our hands and knees searching, even Lachlan our driver pitched in, but today we couldn’t locate anything here.
