It sounds like the tree it was in has been cut down- that would certainly coincide with the lack of foliage where the map says it is, where only sad is now!
Grub62 and I are holidaying nearby in the Gold Coast & we met up with Smiley1982 as a bit of a family geocaching get together. We were are signing as S G B for short to save on log space and for ease of writing. We hunted around for this 1 for quite some time. We got some hints from previous logs but to no avail. In the end we had to admit defeat. Later on we went on a 4 wheel drive tour of the island and our tour guide/driver (Paul who was extremely good and knowledgable on the island and also the caches) told us the tree that this cache was attached to had been removed during some constructions. This cache sould possibly be archived or reinstated at GZ. TFTC.
We were on an Adventure - Bunadoorian, Smiley1982 and myself - we headed over to South Stradbroke Island to find the GeoTour caches ( well those we could get to and still available). The ones closest to the resort we walked to with mixed results. We were able to look for a couple of the further away ones with the help of Paul our very informative , friendly and 4WD tour driver. This was the first cache we had found on the island and my first in Queensland! TFTC CouranCove It is very sad that the caches aren't being maintained very well. This was 1 of 5 DNF's for the day both on and off the island. Paul tells us that the tree it was in has been cut down!
Not sure where this is...the ground looks
Like it has changed since it was placed

Started towards GZ but the sand was stupid hot (even when wearing flip flops) so had to abandon my search. Hopefully the next time we return it will be cooler.
#5 of 5 found on South Stradbroke this trip - sailing past on our new catamaran, Montage. While J & D took the bags of ice back to the boat in the dinghy, K & I searched the cottonwood tree patch near gz. We finally found it once we were quite hot & bothered enough. You need to crouch down to get in, then look up!
Cool bison - hard to screw back together though. Took note of the clue.
#1937 @ 1330h - found with Astrokatz

Dora the Explorer! and I have been paddling southward down the island and grabbing caches on the way.
This cache was found easy enough. It was nice to have a break from paddling whilst trying to find the caches in this area.

Quick and easy find
We completed the fish series and traditionals around South Moreton Bay Island all by Kayak and walking. We stopped to camp overnight. Was a very enjoyable adventure using sit on top kayaks and hammock tents.
On day 1 we completed in this order, one of the caches may be out of order. We used two cars. One was parked at Jacobs Well and the other at Paradise Point tomsave back tracking. We had a very early start leaving Jacobs Well with the high tide.
Fish and Cache series, 16, 23, 19, 20, 22, Crusoe House Boat, 21, 18, 17, Jumpinpin Passage, Fish Cache Series 24, 3, 2, 1, 5, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 2 Goats in a Boat Fish Series 12.
Day 2
Camped overnight near Fish Series 11.
Fish and Cache Series 11, 57 km from Mexican, Fish and Cache Series 13, 14, 15, Dux's Hut, The Sand Dunes, Tipplers, (we had a break here and bought breakfast from the shops here). As the Sun Sets, Wallaby Lawn, Step Back in Time, The Bora Ring, Easy for Some, Minbalup, and Canoe Tree. We then paddled from here back to Paradise Point.
The adventure was fairly straigt forward, saw lots of sting rays, so make sure you have foot wear on when pushing kayaks across the mud flats which we had to do on afew occasions. I even had a fish decide to join me in the kayak. I quickly put him straigt back into he water. We were both quite exhausted on the final leg back to Paradise Point as we were going against the tide.
All in all was a fun adventure and I would recommend doing it by kayak over two days.

We walked along a bit further on the beach to grab the other cache out here. Approaching near GZ we saw quite a few people out catching the rays on the chairs on the beach. We found ourselves wandering if this kiosk opens as we haven’t actually seen it open before, hopefully through Summer it is.
Thankfully the sunbakers were far enough away for us to slip in and make the find, time now to head back to the resort for some lunch.

Found it, luckily. The lid was not secured and the log had fallen out and was blowing away as we approached. Signed and made secure. TFTC Couran Cove!

We spent some time searching where it wasn’t. About 16m away by my gps. Nice and easy to spot if you are in the right place. 2nd cache of the geo tour with fourtrikiseekers. TFTC

Friday. Oh so many places this cache could be!! Yet another PAF here as I had gone in through the ‘tunnel’ but yet couldn’t find anything. Eventually found the top part still tethered to the branch and then a bit of searching found the important part on the ground about a metre away. Looks like the container is threaded somehow on the screw part. After I emptied the sand out of the container (thankfully the log was still inside), I tried to screw it back up, but it just wouldn’t screw in – so I eventually managed to just push the container onto the lid and it sort of held on. Nice container though.
This was the 9th of 10 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***CouranCove***, for showing us this place.

When finding these geotour caches we used waypoint averaging on our Garmin GPSr to hopefully provide more accurate coordinates. The updated coordinates according to the Garmin are:
S27 49.361 E153 24.571
S27 49.361 E153 24.571
Navigation was off, managed to find thanks to some locals

Tftf, unfortunately I didn't have a pen so a photo will have to do. Thanks to the other caches who helped as the Co-ordinates are out. The thread on the lid isn't working.
Had just given up when we found it! Definitely has migrated toward the water from the coordinates (hint was helpful!)
I really just wanted to take photos of the wallabies and sunset and all things beachy but of course we found this sneaky cache close to the beach. I may not love geocaching as much as Mum does but we wouldn't be here otherwise and this resort is awesome so I'm happy!
Quite like the idea of doing a Geo Tour too so thanks for making it.

We had spent a short while searching for this cache yesterday but were unable to find it and too keen to explore other parts of the resort so left it for today. Having spent a fabulous day with geo-buddies finding more of the GeoTour caches in the wonderful care of Paul our GeoTour Guide, my buddies offered to help find this one as they had found it previously. Well, it wasn't where they found it many months ago, but after quite a decent time searching we found the cache. It would seem this one is keen to head towards the water.
Thanks for this cache, and for the GeoTour, CouranCove. The tour is the reason I have come across here with my daughter for three nights, and the reason my two geo-buddies came over for the day. I am only on day two of our stay and am totally loving the island and resort.

Took a while searching in the wrong bushes to find the right bushes from previous log. TFTC
Our last cache for the day it was like a secret hideout i had fun playing here TFTC
We were rushing to find this one as our boat didn't have lights and the sun was close to setting but the activity made this a quick search TFTC we have really enjoyed doing this geotour
Out on the water with monkey maker and dahumbug.
This one was not in the first spot that we looked. So we split up and widened out search area. Not long and dahumbug made the find. With a few resort guests enjoying this area as well we needed to use a little bit of stealth here.
Another cache ticked off on our GeoTour mission today.

I think we landed here after lunch but we also made it for sunset. This one took a bit to locate but humbug eventually came up with the goods. I think the coords were 20 odd meters out for us in the end.
This is definitely a great place to watch the sunset. At the end of our adventure today we were all hanging for a beer, being in the sun all day we just couldn't sit in the afternoon sun, we needed shade. So we headed for the bar near Wallaby lawn.
Thanx for the tour Couran Cove, it's an amazing part of the world.

Out and about with monkey maker and CoolumRoo having a go at the caches on South Straddy. We started at the top end and made our way south to Couran Cove.
We were a little unsure how we would fare at these GeoTour caches but we had a clean sweep of all the caches to be First To GeoTour getting our names in all the CouranCove caches. All the secret word/phrases were noted on our passbooks and our SouthStraddy Geocoin applications are in the mail.
We had a "Perfect Day" caching out on the water today.
If anyone wants to know anything else about our shenanigans, I can't tell because,
"What happens on tour, stays on tour".

After parking up the boat we came to this one for our 4th Tour cache. Looks like a lovely spot to have a few lemonades and watch the sun set over the water. I miss seeing such sights from my Lizard Island Days.
Thanks CouranCove.

South Straddie Tipplers Trek - 2 days of paddling and caching fun with JaffaJ, Carlos the Jackal and geohubby Rob
When we had paddled to South Straddie today from Jacobs Well, this was the first place we pulled up on the island. JaffaJ and I had a quick look for the cache, but we decided we needed to set up camp first (we were staying at Tipplers), then we could come back and have another search. Geohubby came back with me this afternoon and after quite a bit of hunting around, we found the cache - it's obvious when you know where, LOL! It is at least 10 m away from the posted coordinates.

Our 3rd attempt at this bad boy!
Our mission for this weekend was to complete the Couran Cove Geotour, so this one was going to be found...however long it took.
We headed down to Sunset Beach as the sun was dipping lower towards the horizon and began our search. Reading previous logs was a big help as we now knew what we were looking for and that it wasn't as close to the published coords as we first though.
Sure enough, after a small hunt in the places that seemed sensible to look, we found this elusive little fella hanging around. It was approx 13m nearer the water than our GPS wanted us to look.
Nice tricky hide Couran Cove. We've now just one more to find to finish the Tour. Heading up to Jumpin Pin in the morning. TFTC.

Looked way harder than needed. Small, not xsmall! Camouflaged well!! We almost gave up
This is very hard to find. We found it by looking from within side the bushes. Only look at the photo if you want the clue.
Will check again tomorrow this is harder tha it looks...All good will persist...
Took a bit of searching, but it was right before our eyes! Agree with coords being 13m out.
