Today i dropped my husband and his good friend at the Gympie races and headed off to collect some smileys. It ended up a great drive around this beautiful country side. All up i found 20 caches over 4 hours and travelled down some interesting roads. Some of the roads were so narrow i wondered what i would do if a car came the opposite way. What a great day to be a geocacherAt GZ i found a park and then saw where i needed to go . I thought i would give it a miss but what kind of geocacher would i be. I found a place that i could get up easy and then i saw it was actually a nice walk to GZ where i spotted a SPOR and then the cache Thanks youngoldfella for all the fun
youngoldfella I found your cache High above the Tee on 12/4/2024, 12:05PM. This is my find 6558 and find # 8 today. Found it in the second place I looked. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Thanks for another cache. All looks to be in good condition with this one. Thanks for the hide!
Nice country around here.
Having a drive from Gympie to Wigdee today.
The shortest route was too steep plus an easier ascent nearby.
All good here .

Day 2 of my Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast trip with my son. It’s our New Year traditions. First three we camp at Kilkivan, this time we stayed in Maryborough to spread our boundaries.
Today’s catching was around Gympie and Widgee.
We cache from Maryborough to Widgee for the event. Then we cache back to Maryborough.
We had lots of fun today. With early start and late finish.
My haul today was 30 finds, the breakdown is 21 traditional, 3 mystery, event and adventure lab with 5 waypoints. Plus 5 FTF.
One of the mystery was a challenge cache I signed about 18 months ago. That was painful to do.

Ugh, this cache had me too and froing for way too long.
Is it under that rock, against that tree, oh what about this rock. Blah.
Just as i was admitting defeat, my bike way down there in the distance, i lifted a rock up and there it was.
So close to a dnf. I went so far above where i needed to be. Hilarious.
Thanks sweet_sour for hiding a cache up here to unnerve everyone.

That was 1 heck of a climb and it was hot, did I mention the hike up, was it worth it .. well it added a smilie to the list. Tftc
Heading toward home after attending the Mid Year 2021 event & we decided a 'cruise' through Widgee & surrounds was warranted as we seem to have quite a large patch of green dots in the area, on our map.
Well, that will never do!
Collected 26 smilies on the way home so well worth the slight detour.
No false cache found today? [?]
As I searched for a way to get High above the Tee I came across a nice neat set of dirt steps leading up the low bank then it was a simple case of following the compass & not falling over the edge.
As I approached GZ I startled a hare which had been squatting unnoticed in it's hide.
I'm not sure which of us was the more surprised? [?]
Lots of animal scratchings up here, it must get quite busy at times.
The cache was quickly found.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Just a quick note to register today's finds on our leaderboard before it closes.
A more detailed log to follow over the next day or two.

Trusting the GPS I headed off on an adventure, but that wasn't where I found the cache TFTC Sweet-Sour.
Visiting Gympie on business and once finished decided to head out and grab a few caches. I ventured out along some great country roads that I hadn't been along in many years.
Enjoyed the stroll up and once at GZ it was a quick find.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Parked in the shade and traipsed up the hill, glad there were lots of trees to give some relief from the sun. It was high & did I mention it was hot?
Glad that we were getting closer to Widgee and fingers crossed, there's a shop.... with cold things....
Took elephant, left Australia leather keyring.

After attending the Kilkivan event it was time to head home, finding a few more caches along the way. Made the trek up the hill and after a few moments of searching found a typical sweet-sour hide.

Visiting Kilkivan for the annual Cache-up event. Sweet-Sour kindly offered to chauffeur me around for the day. Who was I to refuse? A detour to Widgee saw us passing this cache. My caching buddy is the CO, so I set about finding this one on my own. The cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC
Our last day of caching in Kilkivan. Today we headed out to Widgee and Glastonbury. Another great day, we found all the caches that we looked for. They were all good sized containers which made finding them easy.

Found while staying in the kilkivan area for about a week before heading for the big smoke down south. Having noticed that there was a lot of new caches placed in the area I set about converting some of them to smileys. This is of of the many I have found so far. All were easy find with no maintenance issues. TFTC
Had the opportunity to go caching with Wazza9 and Nana Nel and took it. We had been wanting to do the river walk series for a while plus others around the hinterland of Gympie. Such pretty country side. We enjoyed our day of caching. Thanks for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.

TFTC,
A big day for me with 38 finds for the day. I joined with Nana nel & Liz and Bruce today to start my caching experience in this area.
A great day spent with great people talking, walking, driving and looking into spots many people would not see.
Listening to our partners in crime today, I am wondering how the CO got to place some of the caches in the locations they picked. The cache name said it all.
Adding a favourite and visited trackables.

On our way home after spending a great weekend in Kilkivan finding some caches. Parked over in the junction and walked up the bank to GZ for a relatively quick find. TFTC Sweet-Sour
Reaching this cache required a scramble
Not too hard,
just irritating !! [:o]
Damn spear grass !!
It's getting in me socks and hurts like heck
All that annoyance made not being able to find this cache after 15 minutes or so,
even more annoying
So back at the geomobile I kept meself entertained for another 10 minutes trying to find all the sharp bits that were hidden within.
I am still finding bits of spear grass in me socks a few days later [:o]

Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that I can claim the finds.

Hi there Sweet-Sour.
Today's venture had us heading from Gympie to (Upper) Widgee bag a few caches along the road.. All up we found 21 caches & DNF'd 1.
Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places while we meander around Australia. Thanks also for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this regular sized cache here.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache about 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Screwdriver.
Regards
Ian & Penny.

We have set up camp at Chatsworth Park. Todays trip to us out away from the hustle & Bustle of town.
We drove along many winding rural roads. Spttings some of the local animal life. A very pleasant morning out finding many large containers which is quiet unusual nowdays.
A good variety of locations & caches found.

Staying at Widgee for the weekend and attending an event here. Now I was off for an afternoon run with Sambuccasam.
We parked on the other side of the tee and made the trek to GZ. NOt difficult at all if you take the long way around.
Another one located quickly.

Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January
My parents didn't have any plans for this weekend/NYE so I figured I would come up for the Geocaching weekend at Widgee ... glad I did - 3 days of fun!
After arriving here yesterday evening, and staying up way too late, I was woken up by the daylight (Sunrise is way earlier than it happens where I come from - lol) I had breakfast and a chat with everyone, and jumped into the powellbruce Geomobile with Sweet-Sour and youngoldfella, and headed for the hills for an adventure
We found the cache they were going up the hill for, and 3 more they stopped for on the way down, and a few more we were going past down the bottom (for me to find, and the CO to check) then we started working our way through the Saturday list of Sweet-Sour's caches he had hidden for the event, and then, because the Sunday list was also published early, we went and found most of those as well - the most first to finds I have ever got in one day - lol
TFTC - Joint FTF ... That makes 23 first to finds for the day ... I am not likely to better that one in a hurry - not with how quick off the mark all the others are down where I live, in Canberra ... lol
Talking about tees ... some people I know reckon this hobby I do is silly ... but I would rather spend a day Geocaching than playing that game that involves a tee ... lol ... and a FTF is as much of a buzz as a "hole in one"

(FTF) joint with Powellbruce and AKAYEM. some new hides released today for the event and as we were out thinking that there were only 15 to find the reviewer published the other 16 which we thought would be released tomorrow, Sunday, so Only 5 to find tomorrow. Sweet-Sour came with us as we started our trip going up to launch from here as this is real 4WD country and we had the means. Apologies for the boiler plate logs. Loved the company and the challenges. Thanks Keith for another good weekend. TFTC Sweet-Sour
