Today i dropped my husband and his good friend at the Gympie races and headed off to collect some smileys. It ended up a great drive around this beautiful country side. All up i found 20 caches over 4 hours and travelled down some interesting roads. Some of the roads were so narrow i wondered what i would do if a car came the opposite way. What a great day to be a geocacherAt GZ i found a park just down the road and made sure there was enough room for a car to pass even though i did not see any cars on this very narrow road. I then was not sure where i had to go so read a few previous logs to get an idea. Oh i need to go there so off i went and after a few looks in the wrong places i spotted the cache. I then took my time to sit and log the cache and admire the view, wow. Just as i headed back up a car went by and stopped to ask if i was ok. I was going to say i fell down while admiring the view but they seemed ok with me just saying i was ok. Thanks youngoldfella for all the funGiving this a FP for the great view , hide and the fun drive around these parts

We found the land slip which is now all repaired extensively with a great view albeit with power lines. After a cursory search above with nothing found, I read some previous logs and figured out where we need to be. J volunteered for the rock wall climb soon found the cache under more rocks which were in abundance here. He threw it up for me to sign the log then back down about 4m to rehide.

Headed north to Widgee and surrounding area today to grab a few caches. I enjoyed the drive along great country roads and forestry trails and visited a few great lookouts along the way.

I missed this one on my last visit as I overshot a safe parking spot so today I parked and ventured off to GZ for a quick find,

Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

TFTC,

A big day for me with 38 finds for the day. I joined with Nana nel & Liz and Bruce today to start my caching experience in this area.

A great day spent with great people talking, walking, driving and looking into spots many people would not see.

Kilkivan Cache-up stay Day 2:

After an early start thanks to some squawking magpies, it was a drive up Mudlo followed by a meander through Woolooga, Miva, and Gunalda before heading south and visiting Lower Wonga, Glastonbury and Brooyar Forests and then Widgee before returning to home base.

A variety of great caches were found along the way, plenty of wildlife spotted and some amazing rural views enjoyed along the way.

Wasn't sure what elevation was the best, but after reading some logs soon got the hint. Once there, an easy find was made. Quite amazed at the infrastructure investment made here for a dirt track in the hills.

This makes my 1000th find of a regular container, not a bad milestone. Would rather a regular than a micro any day.

Found on Sunday 30 Dec. 2018 at10:30 making #6,008.

Thanks for the experience **Sweet-Sour**

We drove along many winding rural roads. Spttings some of the local animal life. A very pleasant morning out finding many large containers which is quiet unusual nowdays.
A good variety of locations & caches found.

Doing the rounds today being Saturday of the Widgee July Event with teamDFL. Another cache found and ticked off the list. TeamDFL had just gotten out of the car and was standing on the rock gabion wall when it just suddenly pelted down with rain. So we sat in the car and waited it out. Then TeamDFL braved the climb down while I kept watch for flash flood or Land slip..you never know??lol With log book passed up to me it was signed then replaced and off we went with a few more puddles for me to drive through and a few splashes through the window on Team DFL's side, hahaha.Sorry about that. TFTC sweet-sour

One of the heaviest showers hit just as we got to this one. I had just made it near GZ and it pelted down rain. I dashed back to the car and we sat it out. It soon passed and we were off hunting again.

Took the long way around in with the wet metal. Braved the climb back out though.

Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January Smile
My parents didn't have any plans for this weekend/NYE so I figured I would come up for the Geocaching weekend at Widgee ... glad I did - 3 days of fun!
After arriving here yesterday evening, and staying up way too late, I was woken up by the daylight (Sunrise is way earlier than it happens where I come from - lol) I had breakfast and a chat with everyone, and jumped into the powellbruce Geomobile with Sweet-Sour and youngoldfella, and headed for the hills for an adventure Smile
We found the cache they were going up the hill for, and 3 more they stopped for on the way down, and a few more we were going past down the bottom (for me to find, and the CO to check) then we started working our way through the Saturday list of Sweet-Sour's caches he had hidden for the event, and then, because the Sunday list was also published early, we went and found most of those as well - the most first to finds I have ever got in one day - lol
TFTC - Joint FTF again Smile

This day in Music
2012, A rare copy of a Beatles LP signed by all four members sold - for the sum rejected at auction in Sussex a few weeks earlier. Chris Collins, from Eastbourne, and his sister, Liz Chambers, from Worthing, initially turned down a £12,000 bid for a copy of the album, Please Please Me. They had hoped to get £15,000 for the LP, which was given to their late father during a drinking session. But the siblings later accepted £12,000 from private buyers. The album was signed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr after they used it as a drinks coaster during a card game in 1963.
