Travelled up to Gympie very early this morning for a redemption parkrun at Victory Heights Trail. What a tough little course. It was a last minute decision the night before but turned out to be fabulous for caching purposes. I am trying to get to 5000 traditional finds before the first of November and still needed 29.So whats a cacher to do but find a long meandering way around to pick up some numbers. The hubby and I had a delightful morning travelling the countryside - these caches were also great as they were mostly regulars and in the exact spot you think they would be. We saw some wildlife included a very close encounter as I poked my head around a large tree and woke a dozing hare from its nap and it bolted so fast across the road. Also had a close encounter with another cacher as we pulled into to our last cache and saw a car parked right were we wanted to be. I thought I recognised the driver and it was only when they got out I was sure. Teamed up to find the cache before they continued along were we had just been.A lovely morning and a big thanks to your contribution of it with well maintained caches
Today i dropped my husband and his good friend at the Gympie races and headed off to collect some smileys. It ended up a great drive around this beautiful country side. All up i found 20 caches over 4 hours and travelled down some interesting roads. Some of the roads were so narrow i wondered what i would do if a car came the opposite way. What a great day to be a geocacherAt GZ it was not long until i had the cache in hand. Enjoyed the views from where i parked at the intersection Thanks youngoldfella for all the fun
We had the opportunity to spend some time exploring the region and were lucky to have perfect winter weather for it. We visited some wonderful sites, enjoyed some spectacular views and discovered some interesting history along the way. A number of options here and it took a short search to find the right spot. Thanks youngoldfella
youngoldfella I found your cache East Diggins Rd on 9/4/2024, 4:35PM. This is my find 6535 and find # 19 today. Another quick and easy drive by. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
After spending the night in town and dining out at the local pub it was time to get out and do colorectal the local area. I am working on a local challenge at home that requires cache numbers in Local government areas and so I need another 80 or so in the Gympie area. This area is rich with caches so off I go. Arriving at ground zero I found a safe place to park the geowagon and off I go. I quickly found ground zero and located the cache. After extracting the log and making my mark I quickly returned to the geo wagon in search of my next adventure.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.Cheers
Tftc Sweet-Sour, expecting to get to
38 degrees today, so an early morning adventure to collect a few caches and see a bit of countryside . Steep ascent up the gravel road.

Pretty sweet cache location.. im pretty jelous of the dude who lives in the house across the valley. Im a melbourne local, im loving the places up in this area. I really dont want to go home to be honest!
We continued uphill with the road narrowing, we started to be slightly concerned about the Mazda's fitness for the route but it ended up being not too bad and the road was so quiet, it was fine. We found a safe park off the road and searched amongst the rocks. And there were lots of them... It was a long search close to gz then further afield then back. J finally found with the use of the tapping stick method. It was well hidden.

Magical area. How amazing must be the view from the top - unfortunately private land and thus inaccessible. TFTC Sweet-Sour.
Visiting Gympie on business and once finished decided to head out and grab a few caches. I ventured out along some great country roads that I hadn't been along in many years.
This was the next and another quick find and great views.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Our last day of caching in Kilkivan. Today we headed out to Widgee and Glastonbury. Another great day, we found all the caches that we looked for. They were all good sized containers which made finding them easy.

Had the opportunity to go caching with Wazza9 and Nana Nel and took it. We had been wanting to do the river walk series for a while plus others around the hinterland of Gympie. Such pretty country side. We enjoyed our day of caching. Thanks for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
Sharing a days caching with Liz and Bruce and wazza9, quick find, signed log and replaced. Thanks to Sweet-Sour

TFTC,
A big day for me with 38 finds for the day. I joined with Nana nel & Liz and Bruce today to start my caching experience in this area.
A great day spent with great people talking, walking, driving and looking into spots many people would not see.

Kilkivan Cache-up stay Day 2:
After an early start thanks to some squawking magpies, it was a drive up Mudlo followed by a meander through Woolooga, Miva, and Gunalda before heading south and visiting Lower Wonga, Glastonbury and Brooyar Forests and then Widgee before returning to home base.
A variety of great caches were found along the way, plenty of wildlife spotted and some amazing rural views enjoyed along the way.
Magic views in both directions, gave me a "great to be alive" buzz so I'm adding an FP.

Found on Sunday 30 Dec. 2018 at10:24 making #6,007.
Thanks for the experience **Sweet-Sour**

We came upon your cache, Sweet-Sour, while geocaching at the Newbies Event at Widgee. We are in the company of Temingi.
We arrived here in a rather contorted road which however gave us some great views.
Log signed and replaced at 2.04 pm on 31 December 2017. TFTC.

Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January
My parents didn't have any plans for this weekend/NYE so I figured I would come up for the Geocaching weekend at Widgee ... glad I did - 3 days of fun!
After arriving here yesterday evening, and staying up way too late, I was woken up by the daylight (Sunrise is way earlier than it happens where I come from - lol) I had breakfast and a chat with everyone, and jumped into the powellbruce Geomobile with Sweet-Sour and youngoldfella, and headed for the hills for an adventure
We found the cache they were going up the hill for, and 3 more they stopped for on the way down, and a few more we were going past down the bottom (for me to find, and the CO to check) then we started working our way through the Saturday list of Sweet-Sour's caches he had hidden for the event, and then, because the Sunday list was also published early, we went and found most of those as well - the most first to finds I have ever got in one day - lol
TFTC - Yep - another joint FTF
