TFTC smile 20989 Out and about on a Rainy day grabing a cache to try and keep a challenge going signed as GS1947 on small logs On a trip to Maryborough to fine a few 4x4 caches with Chamad replaced log It's Party time at GCARTY0 - 05 October 2025 Sunshine Coast come and join us for a great time Thank you Sweet-Sour adopted by austreesNaustpark for placing this cache for our enjoyment
A drive around the northern parts of the sunny coast and then venturing up to Howard before then turning around and heading to Maryborough for the night. It was Grannysmith and I on a venture around seeking out off road vehicle attributes for a challenge cache. We both needed a few so it was organised for a nice road trip. The weather was not that nice to us but the fun was driving on the tracks that not many vehicles have been for a while. We ended up clearing fallen trees and large branches on some tracks. We even collected a few stray caches as we passed. It was a fun day and we got in some good memories. Oh that bloke at the end of a unpassable track will never be forgotten Youre a road LOL. This was part of today's journey; thanks for the placement, the logs were signed and the caches replaced as found. If you are seeing this please check out, GCARTY0, see what is planned for October 2025. There is an importance in placing will attends to events. Thanks for supporting geocaching in Australia. ITS A PARTY EVENT!
We had the opportunity to spend some time exploring the region and were lucky to have perfect winter weather for it. We visited some wonderful sites, enjoyed some spectacular views and discovered some interesting history along the way. A pretty little treed creek bank although Im glad I didnt need to descend it at all to find the cache. I may have ended up going for a swim. Thanks austreesNaustpark
Nice quick find with mnance101 and bennyboppers today. Found an interesting tree marking. Tftc
Sweet-Sour I found your cache Glastonbury Creek Xing on 9/4/2024, 3:45PM. This is my find 6531 and find # 15 today. A quick and easy drive by. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
We are caching today, finding some of Sweet-Sours caches, 40kms north ish from home. What a beautiful area, at least 50 cows thought so too.Nice and green now, but the drought had left a lot of natural camouflage!TFTC
We searched for quite a while until we found the cache. Lid was broken, so contents was wet, logbook not readable and writable.
We did the maintenance on this one and sent a Photo to Co with old container and new jar with logsheet. We placed it exactly where we found the old one.
A fav point for the beautiful area!

Found it easily.Has had a flood over it and needs a new book. Thanks for the cache.
Looks like this cache has been underwater in the recent floods. It needs a new log book. TFTC
Tftc sweet-sour, made a quick find here, been plenty of water about. Dried cache as best we could.
1MinnieMoo and I were in town grabbing a couple of caches and visiting my parents.
We pulled up for this one next. Hmmm tractor.. but no one was about. It took us a while before 1MinnieMoo spotted the prize. I went back to the car to get us a pen. I did note there were some chaps over the creek working on a property but had not noticed us.
A great little place for a cache. TFTC Sweet-Sour

21/8/21 Find #4961
Fangsoki and I found ourselves in Gympie to catch up with his parents for a spot of lunch. So we decided to grab some other caches out this way while we were here.
We pulled up next to a tractor that was parked here, however no one was around, so we made our way over and searched where we expected it to be. However it turns out it was actually a little easier than we had made it and just slightly over from where we were looking.
I can imagine this creek would be rather idyllic to sit and spend some time at.
Thanks for the cache Sweet-Sour.

When I was in school, the family of a mate of mine owned one of the properties very near this geocache. I've spent a fair few weekends in this part of the world. A bit of a jog of the memory as I rolled through today.
An early morning drive from Brisbane had me at a paddle event at Traveston Crossing. Just the day before I got my roof racks fitted to the roof of my Alto. A car not often seen with roof racks! But it had no issues with the kayak on the roof and with the event finished in the middle of the day, I was keen to maximise my day up north.
So, after the event, my priority for the afternoon (or at least, second to lunch) was to head through Brooyar State Forest. Perhaps the least appropriate vehicle for a dirt road, but I'm happy to have a look, and I'm also happy to turn around if my little car just can't. My plan was to drive through the forest and pop out here near the campground.
Being that there had been rain about, I wasn't sure all the creek crossings would be above water. But, we got through the forest without incident and all the crossings would be above water. I passed a few farmers, the first people I'd seen in many kilometres, and pulled off the side of the road, thoroughly enjoying my blast down the dirt.
On my approach to the geocache, I was distracted by, and spent a good long while watching a family of platypodes in the water below. A rarity to see, and always appreciated. Onto the geocache and it was no drama to find and all in good condition. I signed the logbook, replaced as found and wandered back to the car while musing over the map for my next stop. Thanks for this geocache, Sweet-Sour

Thanks to recent storms, the water over the causeway was flowing strongly but fortunately (for me) it was still shallow. TFTC Sweet-Sour.
Went for a drive from the Glastonbury camp ground and found this one easy! Met some lovely moo moos along the way.
Visiting Gympie on business and once finished decided to head out and grab a few caches. I ventured out along some great country roads that I hadn't been along in many years.
This was the next and another quick find.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

A lovely drive in the countryside and we parked up and found this cache in a beautiful place. Log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC
After attending the Kilkivan event it was time to head home, finding a few more caches along the way. Loads of stubborn cows here, including a very big Brahman bull that wasn't in the mood to be told what to do. Found after a short search, last one before heading home.

Wandered round a couple of likely places without any luck until geowife asked me if I had looked in the first place properly - I hate it when she's right!!! TFTC Sweet-Sour
Another nice location to stop on the way to Brooyar forest. J checked out the creek while I found the cache in a tight location. Nice and secure though.
Loved the huge white fungi in the grass too.
Took tiny flower bead, left pink lion.

We have set up camp at Chatsworth Park. Todays trip to us out away from the hustle & Bustle of town.
We drove along many winding rural roads. Spttings some of the local animal life. A very pleasant morning out finding many large containers which is quiet unusual nowdays.
A good variety of locations & caches found.

Out with Geopartner enjoying what this part of the world has to offer.
After doing "X marks the spot" we were looking for a way to the other old cache.
Maybe next time.
We stopped by to look for this one.
There was a rather large cache guardian eyeing me off as I headed towards GZ.
I talked gently to the cache guardian and soon had the cache in hand. I think he was blushing after what I was saying. He turned his head away.
Glad I am not wearing red today.
Signed the log and returned it to where I found it gently backing away from the cache guardian and back to the geomobile.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks Sweet-Sour All good with this cache

DOut for a day of caching with Mr Curious Quest. Deciding not to test my limited 4WD skills any further, we made our way to this cache. I missed this cache on my first pass, but Mr Curious Quest spotted it. Log signed, cache returned to its spot and we were on our way again. TFTC
Today i was invited up to Gympie area with Selvagirls to do some caching so jumped at the chance. Nice quick find. TFTC,

Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January
My parents didn't have any plans for this weekend/NYE so I figured I would come up for the Geocaching weekend at Widgee ... glad I did - 3 days of fun!
After arriving here yesterday evening, and staying up way too late, I was woken up by the daylight (Sunrise is way earlier than it happens where I come from - lol) I had breakfast and a chat with everyone, and jumped into the powellbruce Geomobile with Sweet-Sour and youngoldfella, and headed for the hills for an adventure
We found the cache they were going up the hill for, and 3 more they stopped for on the way down, and a few more we were going past down the bottom (for me to find, and the CO to check) then we started working our way through the Saturday list of Sweet-Sour's caches he had hidden for the event, and then, because the Sunday list was also published early, we went and found most of those as well - the most first to finds I have ever got in one day - lol
TFTC - another cache, another joint FTF - lol

#8009 Cache Found
Found while attending the Newbies Event at Widgee. Nice cache Thanks for bringing me here
Thanks for the great cache and adventure Sweet-Sour
This day in Music
2009, Australian rock musician, guitarist and songwriter Rowland S. Howard died age 50. He was best known for his work with the post-punk group The Birthday Party and his subsequent solo career. Howard wrote ‘Shivers’ at the age of 16 while in the band The Young Charlatans and later gained acclaim after joining Melbourne-based band The Boys Next Door, when the song was released as a single. The band changed their name to The Birthday Party and Howard's discordant guitar remained a major factor in their sound.
