Travelled up to Gympie very early this morning for a redemption parkrun at Victory Heights Trail. What a tough little course. It was a last minute decision the night before but turned out to be fabulous for caching purposes. I am trying to get to 5000 traditional finds before the first of November and still needed 29.So whats a cacher to do but find a long meandering way around to pick up some numbers. The hubby and I had a delightful morning travelling the countryside - these caches were also great as they were mostly regulars and in the exact spot you think they would be. We saw some wildlife included a very close encounter as I poked my head around a large tree and woke a dozing hare from its nap and it bolted so fast across the road. Also had a close encounter with another cacher as we pulled into to our last cache and saw a car parked right were we wanted to be. I thought I recognised the driver and it was only when they got out I was sure. Teamed up to find the cache before they continued along were we had just been.A lovely morning and a big thanks to your contribution of it with well maintained caches
Today i dropped my husband and his good friend at the Gympie races and headed off to collect some smileys. It ended up a great drive around this beautiful country side. All up i found 20 caches over 4 hours and travelled down some interesting roads. Some of the roads were so narrow i wondered what i would do if a car came the opposite way. What a great day to be a geocacher At GZ i saw a likely hiding spot and there is was. Thanks youngoldfella for all the fun
We had the opportunity to spend some time exploring the region and were lucky to have perfect winter weather for it. We visited some wonderful sites, enjoyed some spectacular views and discovered some interesting history along the way. A nice quick find where expected. Thanks youngoldfella
Parked nearby and made our way to the obvious where the cache was found safe and dry TFTC
Sweet-Sour I found your cache Diggins Road on 22/8/2023, 4:30 pm. This is my find 5968 and find # 1 today. A quick and easy drive by. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
With HazzaKay, excellent morning out finding many of your caches along this road.
Day 2 of my Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast trip with my son. It’s our New Year traditions. First three we camp at Kilkivan, this time we stayed in Maryborough to spread our boundaries.
Today’s catching was around Gympie and Widgee.
We cache from Maryborough to Widgee for the event. Then we cache back to Maryborough.
We had lots of fun today. With early start and late finish.
My haul today was 30 finds, the breakdown is 21 traditional, 3 mystery, event and adventure lab with 5 waypoints. Plus 5 FTF.
One of the mystery was a challenge cache I signed about 18 months ago. That was painful to do.

I’ve come up here to try and qualify for a crazy Challenge Cache in Cunnamulla… Forward planning, I’m driving L’DeVine, so hopefully no busted tyres today…
Despite a couple of cars at the T intersection I was able to pull up here and grab this cache undisturbed… I may have slid back down to L’DeVine though… tftc…

Local caching family adventure today 7th find for the day . Been over 12 months since we hit it and we haven't lost our touch. TFTC
I'd like to go to the Glastonbury festival one year.
I'd also like to one day see the camping at glastonbury.
I didn't make it that far, but did detour towards it a few hundred metres to collect this cache before rejoining the main road.
Thanks sweet-sour for hiding a cache at glastonbury.

1MinnieMoo and I were in town grabbing a couple of caches and visiting my parents.
We pulled up at GZ. It took me a couple of "run-ups" to get to GZ. We soon found the cache safe and sound. With the log signed, we were off. Another great hide! TFTC Sweet-Sour

21/8/21 Find #4957
Fangsoki and I found ourselves in Gympie to catch up with his parents for a spot of lunch. So we decided to grab some other caches out this way while we were here.
We decided to turn off the highway here, and make our way towards an older cache or two. I always wish the locals would erect a little Glastonbury Tor here to mimic the one in the UK - a missed opportunity if you ask me.
A quick pull up here right beside the hide location. Fangsoki headed out to make the grab.
Thanks for the cache Sweet-Sour.

Heading toward home after attending the Mid Year 2021 event & we decided a 'cruise' through Widgee & surrounds was warranted as we seem to have quite a large patch of green dots in the area, on our map.
Well, that will never do!
Collected 26 smilies on the way home so well worth the slight detour.
A quick park and grab where all is good and all is quiet.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Just a quick note to register today's finds on our leaderboard before it closes.
A more detailed log to follow over the next day or two.

How good it was today to see the afternoon sun glinting on the muddy waters of the little flush-filled dam next to GZ. TFTC Sweet-Sour.
Visiting Gympie on business and once finished decided to head out and grab a few caches. I ventured out along some great country roads that I hadn't been along in many years.
This was the next and another quick find.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Our last day of caching in Kilkivan. Today we headed out to Widgee and Glastonbury. Another great day, we found all the caches that we looked for. They were all good sized containers which made finding them easy.

Found while staying in the kilkivan area for about a week before heading for the big smoke down south. Having noticed that there was a lot of new caches placed in the area I set about converting some of them to smileys. This is of of the many I have found so far. All were easy find with no maintenance issues. TFTC
Had the opportunity to go caching with Wazza9 and Nana Nel and took it. We had been wanting to do the river walk series for a while plus others around the hinterland of Gympie. Such pretty country side. We enjoyed our day of caching. Thanks for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
Sharing a days caching with Liz and Bruce and wazza9, quick find, signed log and replaced. Thanks to Sweet-Sour
TFTC,
A big day for me with 38 finds for the day. I joined with Nana nel & Liz and Bruce today to start my caching experience in this area.
A great day spent with great people talking, walking, driving and looking into spots many people would not see.

I stopped by the end of Diggins.
Time to go digging for a cache I guess
And after a short stroll,
there was a cache,
and a log roll

Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that I can claim the finds.
Turned into Diggings Rd on the way to Brooyar and Glastonbury for a picnic.
Good quick find at the edge of the road. Nearby horses a bit panicky.
Took pet rock & birthday card, left ugly white monkey & crystal on chain.

Hi there Sweet-Sour.
Today's venture had us heading from Gympie to (Upper) Widgee bag a few caches along the road.. All up we found 21 caches & DNF'd 1.
Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places while we meander around Australia. Thanks also for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this regular sized cache here.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache about 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Pet rock.
**Grabbed Trackable:** "Der Reisebegleiter"
Regards
Ian & Penny.

We have set up camp at Chatsworth Park. Todays trip to us out away from the hustle & Bustle of town.
We drove along many winding rural roads. Spttings some of the local animal life. A very pleasant morning out finding many large containers which is quiet unusual nowdays.
A good variety of locations & caches found.

Doing the rounds today being Saturday of the Widgee July Event with teamDFL. Another cache found and ticked off the list. Last one for today. Another quick pullover on the side of the road, GZ spotted easily as it is the only thing there to hide a cache in...lol. signed the log added treasure and replaced...campwards bound now.
Found this cache with my Amazing Geo-Wife KaleidoscopeCass during our 6 day roadtrip starting off with the Geocaching for Newbies event held at Widgee, Qld. Cache was found and signed and logged, Thanks for placing this cache and being a part of our journey!

Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January
My parents didn't have any plans for this weekend/NYE so I figured I would come up for the Geocaching weekend at Widgee ... glad I did - 3 days of fun!
After arriving here yesterday evening, and staying up way too late, I was woken up by the daylight (Sunrise is way earlier than it happens where I come from - lol) I had breakfast and a chat with everyone, and jumped into the powellbruce Geomobile with Sweet-Sour and youngoldfella, and headed for the hills for an adventure
We found the cache they were going up the hill for, and 3 more they stopped for on the way down, and a few more we were going past down the bottom (for me to find, and the CO to check) then we started working our way through the Saturday list of Sweet-Sour's caches he had hidden for the event, and then, because the Sunday list was also published early, we went and found most of those as well - the most first to finds I have ever got in one day - lol
TFTC - Another joint FTF ... still having fun

(FTF) joint with Powellbruce and AKAYEM. some new hides released today for the event and as we were out thinking that there were only 15 to find the reviewer published the other 16 which we thought would be released tomorrow, Sunday, so Only 5 to find tomorrow. Sweet-Sour came with us as we started our trip going up to launch from here as this is real 4WD country and we had the means. Apologies for the boiler plate logs. Loved the company and the challenges. Thanks Keith for another good weekend. TFTC Sweet-Sour
