Having a drive from Gympie to Wigdee today.

Day 2 of my Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast trip with my son. It’s our New Year traditions. First three we camp at Kilkivan, this time we stayed in Maryborough to spread our boundaries.
Today’s catching was around Gympie and Widgee.
We cache from Maryborough to Widgee for the event. Then we cache back to Maryborough.
We had lots of fun today. With early start and late finish.
My haul today was 30 finds, the breakdown is 21 traditional, 3 mystery, event and adventure lab with 5 waypoints. Plus 5 FTF.
One of the mystery was a challenge cache I signed about 18 months ago. That was painful to do.

This was almost a park and grab, except for the long grass.
Seeing the large sign, and reading the cache title earlier, i didn't even check my phone, i just rolled to a stop and followed the geotrail.
Thanks sweet-sour for breaking up this journey so well.
I don't do generic copy paste logs so that's why i'm still backlogging these from last week. (Aalmost done)

1MinnieMoo and I were in town grabbing a couple of caches and visiting my parents.
We pulled up for this one next. I'm glad I rethought my approach - but it was a route full of grass. We soon found the prize safe and sound. We signed the log and returned the cache when the coast was clear. A nice little area. TFTC Sweet-Sour

21/8/21 Find #4958
Fangsoki and I found ourselves in Gympie to catch up with his parents for a spot of lunch. So we decided to grab some other caches out this way while we were here.
We headed just past our turn for this one, pulling up and making our way through the long grass to make our find.
Thanks for the cache Sweet-Sour.

Heading toward home after attending the Mid Year 2021 event & we decided a 'cruise' through Widgee & surrounds was warranted as we seem to have quite a large patch of green dots in the area, on our map.
Well, that will never do!
Collected 26 smilies on the way home so well worth the slight detour.
Quick find in the loooong grass!
The lid is quite brittle & cracking, not much life left in the container which should be replaced.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Mrs Woodyrothwell had told me that her caching mission for the day was done. We’d had an early start to attend a CITO at Kilkivan and were starting to feel the drain of driving for so long.
I thought about turning my head towards my wife and asking if she wanted to jump out of the car on the side of the road for some sexy time but I didn’t have the energy. She only found the energy three days later to tell me it wasn’t going to happen. However if George Clooney was also in the car then she was available. tftc

Visiting Gympie on business and once finished decided to head out and grab a few caches. I ventured out along some great country roads that I hadn't been along in many years.
I managed to stop right next to a rotting rabbit who had probably ate the baits. Once at GZ it was a quick find,
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Found the Widgee state forest sign and knew we were close. Good PORs for a hide.
Have to go for a drive in here with the other car some time, don't want to take Maxpy on dirt roads if we can help it. Got dirty enough just visiting some gravel pits.
Took painted pet rock, left purple koala in ziplock.

Our last day of caching in Kilkivan. Today we headed out to Widgee and Glastonbury. Another great day, we found all the caches that we looked for. They were all good sized containers which made finding them easy.

Found while staying in the kilkivan area for about a week before heading for the big smoke down south. Having noticed that there was a lot of new caches placed in the area I set about converting some of them to smileys. This is of of the many I have found so far. All were easy find with no maintenance issues. TFTC
Had the opportunity to go caching with Wazza9 and Nana Nel and took it. We had been wanting to do the river walk series for a while plus others around the hinterland of Gympie. Such pretty country side. We enjoyed our day of caching. Thanks for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
Sharing a days caching with Liz and Bruce and wazza9, quick find, signed log and replaced. Thanks to Sweet-Sour

TFTC,
A big day for me with 38 finds for the day. I joined with Nana nel & Liz and Bruce today to start my caching experience in this area.
A great day spent with great people talking, walking, driving and looking into spots many people would not see.

Kilkivan Cache-up stay Day 2:
After an early start thanks to some squawking magpies, it was a drive up Mudlo followed by a meander through Woolooga, Miva, and Gunalda before heading south and visiting Lower Wonga, Glastonbury and Brooyar Forests and then Widgee before returning to home base.
A variety of great caches were found along the way, plenty of wildlife spotted and some amazing rural views enjoyed along the way.
An easy find here. Noticed a great big dirty hole blown through the give way sign by someone needing target practice.

Found on Sunday 30 Dec. 2018 at10:55 making #6,014.
Thanks for the experience **Sweet-Sour**

Hi there Sweet-Sour.
Today's venture had us heading from Gympie to (Upper) Widgee bag a few caches along the road.. All up we found 21 caches & DNF'd 1.
Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places while we meander around Australia. Thanks also for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this regular sized cache here.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache about 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Rock.
Regards
Ian & Penny.

We have set up camp at Chatsworth Park. Todays trip to us out away from the hustle & Bustle of town.
We drove along many winding rural roads. Spttings some of the local animal life. A very pleasant morning out finding many large containers which is quiet unusual nowdays.
A good variety of locations & caches found.

Thanks for this series we enjoyed following the various trails to get to the cache hiding spot
I tried to find this yesterday afternoon, but clearly I had had enough geocaching for Sunday. I came back in and found it on my way home back to Brisbane, I don't like being beaten...lol. Gotcha this time. Eww dead fish skeletons, lucky for me everyone before me had trampled the grass down so it was not too bad walking to GZ. Signed the log, added treasure and replaced TFTC and thank you sweet-sour for a big camping and geocaching weekend.
Lots of tricky vines on the ground here to trip you up if you are too busy looking at your GPSr.
Once again I looked in the wrong spot first. The GPSr did want ,e to go a bit further and there it was.

On the way back to camp, this was at the end of the road. so picked it off. Worst part was the long grass. TFTC
Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch. Followed some tracks into GZ but still ended up circling a few times until I spotted the hide. TFTC
We pulled up to this area and I was expecting a different kind of hide. Spotted a tiny frog but no cache, so I started paying attention to the GPS... Strangely enough, that led me right to the GZ! TFTC.
Couldn’t just drive by this cache could we. Ardom pointed out a tiny frog resting on the shotgun blown out bit of the sign.
Following the dead animal pattern from the last cache, this one saw us surrounded by fish skeletons on the verge as we headed in to find the cache. At least these ones didn't smell. Was interesting to have a look at though. TFTC
Found this cache with my Amazing Geo-Wife KaleidoscopeCass during our 6 day roadtrip starting off with the Geocaching for Newbies event held at Widgee, Qld. Cache was found and signed and logged, Thanks for placing this cache and being a part of our journey!
This one took us a while the grass was so long. After a massive face plant I found the cache.
Drove up from Canberra, for a much needed holiday staying with my parents in Caloundra ... Up here for a few weeks (Christmas, and most of January
My parents didn't have any plans for this weekend/NYE so I figured I would come up for the Geocaching weekend at Widgee ... glad I did - 3 days of fun!
After arriving here Friday evening, and staying up way too late, I took up the offer of a seat in the powellbruce Geomobile with Sweet-Sour and youngoldfella, and we headed for the hills for an adventure, then worked out way through all but one of the Saturday list of Sweet-Sour's caches he had hidden for the event, and then, because the Sunday list was also published early, we went and found most of those as well - the most first to finds I have ever got in one day - lol
Today, Sunday, I again headed off with powellbruce and youngoldfella to find the rest of the caches on the Sunday list and drive up to grab the far away one that was on the bottom of Saturdays list.
TFTC - Joint FTF ... maybe we should have just got it on the way past yesterday - lol

Thirty years ago, New Years Eve was the highlight of the calendar - usually involving the beach, sunburn, a big party, hopefully some midnight smooching with a cute girl before seeing the sunrise on New Years day. How times have changed. Bromance wives were collectively glad to see the back of us (no midnight smooching tonight), so we set upon another road trip collecting caches north west of Brisbane.
On our way to the Widgee event and we noticed this one had been published. Stopped in and made the find. Many thanks Sweet Sour
