Road trip around Lake Taupo.A nice, quick, easy, find, grab, sign, and flee.TFTC
When I first started geocaching many years ago I had a tradition of going out and grabbing a few caches on or around my birthday. Several years have gone by since I have done that traditional, so this year I have started again. Nice to explore our local area and find some new spots we haven't been too before.
Thanks to all the cache owners for these caches.
With two of us looking we still couldn't find it. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary according to the hint

Showery morning putting paid to our intended bike ride, so we elected to geocache along here instead, which turned out to be a great decision. The rain has stopped and the sun is trying to shine. Well done Katiekate24 for joining in on a lovely caching trail. Earns a fave from us. Delighted to find this so easily after all the DNFs. Maybe the others didn't widen their search as it was not far away. Cache is all good. TFTC
Found on the way to Rotorua for a Family Christmas and manged to arrive lunchtime two days later. Rather quicker than expected! Yep, geocaching is the slowest route between two points! But I still haven't made the connection to the rainbow connection
Cold but sunny day. Fast find. Cache in good order. TFTC (apologies for the delay in posting)
I was keen for this side road series of mjmnz caches (and one extra!) , and Liv drove the car to enable me to HIHO (hop in, hop out). A fully successful trip for all searched for and a nice trip to another area of Lake Taupo never seen before.
Day 1 was getting there and catching up so left at a decent time across the Desert Road in pouring rain and wind-chill assisted chills. Managed a few finds before Liv turned up, then an easy orientation time for the first afternoon/evening.
A 3 day trip to Turangi is the plan for the weekend, but the weather is not looking likely to be all that favorable with lots of rain forecast. My youngest daughter is driving down for the weekend from Auckland to hang with Dad, so looking forward to that as I haven't seen here for a little while now. We stayed in the work's bach for the weekend and that was all good with sound amenities and a nice amount of caches were located. Also managed a soak in the Tokaanu hot pools, finished off 4 different Lab Cache series, and a couple of Geotour caches too. Thanks to all COs for their caches this weekend.

Rainbow connected! Found all of the colours pretty quickly and then on to the final here, and another nice quick find. TFTC!
Red and orange and yellow and green,
blue, indigo, and violet,

In Turangi area for two nights, out to do the caches down Kuratau Hydro Road to Whareroa on this lovely day. Thanks Katiekate24 for the cache.
One of a number of caches located today between Turangi and my overnight stop near Cambridge. Did most of the Rainbow series this afternoon. A reasonably quick find for the last in the series. Thanks again for this ‘trail’ and great that I could park a motorhome at each location. I had considered biking the route, but it wouldn’t have been much fun in the on-and-off rain! #4552. TFTC.
Took us a while to find this one but ever so glad we did before giving up! A completed rainbow today - thanks a lot for this hide down a road we might otherwise never come down Katiekate24!
A nice quick find thanks. Last one of the trail!?
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. A lovely sunny day as we drove from Taupo to National Park today.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

coords are a bit off here but with an extended search the cache was easily found, tftc
Missed this one on the way in but picked up on the way out. Again GPS seems a bit off and needed previous comments to find it. Really enjoyed the series.

We missed collecting this one on the way into tow so managed to grab it on the way out. Thank you for the fun rainbow series of caches. TFTC
God put the rainbow in the sky as the sign of his promise that he would never again destroy the earth with flood (Genesis 9:13–17)

A good quiet morning and not much traffic. Plenty of time and a trail of caches, how could I pass it up? Had the rainbow connection song playing for part of it.
Caches were located easily and I had a great time. TFTC

We traveled down to National Park today and picked up 22 caches - what fun! Some easy ones, some harder and 2 DNF's . We headed down this road picking up the rainbow caches and then wanted to see what awaited us at the road's end! A pretty little bay and another little adventure that wouldn't have happened without the geocaches here. TFTC and a favourite point from me for the series
Nice and handy park and grab on a pleasant drive during second day of Christmas.
The longest hide! I am glad I didn't give up!
Stay at the fence line.

Due to Covid, our planned UK holiday to attend the MEGA could not proceed so plan B was a timeshare stay in Paihia so we could cache around Northland. Once again this could not proceed as we could not travel through Auckland due to the Level 3 lockdown.
A last minute plan C was put into action and our timeshare week was transferred to Turangi.
Off we went on a sunny but chilly 4 deg morning and its been quite a while since we have seen any frost on the ground so a bit of a novelty for us.
Took a little while to locate this one TFTC.

We are spending the week in Turangi and the last few days have been wet. The weather cleared by late morning, so we took the opportunity to head out for some cache finds. This series in Whareroa looked perfect for some quick finds if the rain came down again.
Very pleased we came to do this series today. Eight finds added up very nice and quickly, and now it's time for lunch. TFTC

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more. Today I decided to go a drive down to Kuratau from Taupo as I hadn't explored this area before.
It is time to to become very colourful.
Cheers for the cache.

On our way home from visiting family in the king Country and we decided to go and have a look at Whareroa - stopped for a few of these caches on the way. Tftc
Lovely day for a few caches with little blue hen and China doll 47. Drove ot from turangi before the day became too hot and had a thoroughly enjoyable and successful cache hunt in an area we hadn't visited before. Apologies for the generic logs but thanks for giving us an excuse to visit the area. Tftcsl
Out with Bkj97 and Little Blue Hen caching from Turangi. Had picked the Rainbow trail as a good one to start with, then others in the Whareroa area. Found all easily stamped and returned. TFTC
Find number 4654. I called on this one yesterday but had no luck. There were number of muggles in the area. Back today for another look. The sun must have been at the right angle as I quickly spotted it. Thank you for the placement.
Forgot to.log this one when we were down the other week. Enjoyed the series of caches.

On a road trip with part of Team BOP, Myself, Squirrel Nutcase, Fap n Gap,NZ Flossy & TNXpro, we had a blast, Liked the themed colours, please excuse my cut and paste in advance for my logs as I have a few to get through, but many thanks for the placements and bringing us to this beautiful part of the country, Cheers.
10.55am - All caches found fairly quickly with a couple of wrong side of the road attempts. SLTFTC
On a road trip with part of Team BOP and having a lot of fun. We enjoyed this series with the nice touches of the coloured cache containers. All caches were good and no problems. Loved the views driving this road and had thought for the ducks as we heard a few loud bangs. TFTC and the series a favourite point for the series
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), McJandals, NZFlossy, and TNXPro... You've got to have friends (especially for some of the caches I have lined up for today)... We took my new car for a spin. There was a bit of action in the back seat, as the leather seats allowed for plenty of slip and slide, and the occasional rude sounding noises. We enjoyed lots of laughs and conversation. This is exactly how caching should be...
We haven't been down this way since Turangi Mega (2016), and it's always great to revisit the area. We quickly set off on this trail. Most finds were quick, with good coordinates. We enjoyed the autumnal colours and the view of the lake and the rolling, hilly farmland. We didn't really need to worry about parking, as there were very few vehicles on the road. TFTC.

On another Team BOP road trip heading to clear out some caches around Lake Taupo.
Thanks for laying the new series of caches. I had never been out this way, so we carried on further down the road to clear that area also.

Hard work but the 8 year old found it! Thanks for a final stop on the way home from a day at whareroa.
Log a little damp in this one and my coordinates were a bit off but readily found with the hint. TFTC
We are on our inaugural shake down trip in our newly acquired camper and we decided to head down and do a trail along Kuritau Hydro Road that Mr S had spied. We started this trail yesterday but ran out of time and options on where to overnight. So we stayed at the Oasis Camp in Tokaanu and headed back out here this morning. This was one for Mrs S and she really has to mind the electric fence's that abound in the country.
Thanks katiekate24.
Thanks katiekate24.
The last cache in this series, was an enjoyable afternoon to be out caching!Thank you so much for placing these caches...we look forward to more in the future!TFTC!
We were in the area mainly to pick blueberries, and were able to add this and many other nearby geocaches to our holiday activities for the day. What a neat idea theming these caches on the rainbow colors. I found this cache after the kids had their few minutes of competing with each other to find it and were coming up empty. TFTC
#9714. Second to find. A nice day to explore the Kuratau area for some walking and light tramping … and some park and grabs as well. GZ was all quiet when we visited. Found after a short search at just 6 metres away. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Having found all the coloured cache links on three separate trips along the road, we're now hoping we can complete the Rainbow Connection before it gets dark. This cache is rather special as we used to have our own cache of the same name many years ago.
This was our second attempt to find this one, our GPS was not pointing us anywhere useful so we widened our search to cover the surrounding area. The long summer grass was beginning to resemble those alien crop circles we've seen on TV. Finally we struck lucky and this elusive little cache was conquered at last....we signed the empty logbook with still plenty of daylight left. We've enjoyed our day in the countryside with lovely rural scenery. TFTC.
