Third visit here and a thorough check in at and around indicated GZ. Grabbed a replacement from the car, camoed up with black tape and placed it up and behind the indicated place. A wish to progress a little in the recent souvenir challenge and a desire to head up the Pohangina Valley for the first time in a wee while had an easy day planned. We'd head on a loop up and around the valley, then head via Ashhurst to Palmy to catch up with a couple of the grandkids for a little visit. The weather was changeable, but we avoided the rain. Not huge numbers, but a couple of DNFs avenged and a once and only check for a Wildbore Multi final (yet again no checksum thwarted any confidence in the workings). Thanks to all CO (watcache) for his caches today.
Got the day off work so decided to explore some back country roads from Pohangina to Apiti. Sadly no success here. Will watch.
Nice hide in the most obvious spot.
No traffic on this side of the river.

Today I was out caching with my son ThatWeirdGuy04 and one of my regular caching friends Stardust718, with the aim of travelling around the Pohangina Valley to attempt as many caches as we could manage in our day, concentrating on the Wildbore series but also stopping for any others along the way or else caught our fancy.
All logs for today were signed at either "Team S.T.T" or else simply "S.T.T" as space on logsheets allowed. The weather forecast had not been the best for today, but we set of in the hope that there would be enough dry spells or at least breaks in the rain to allow us to collect enough caches to be able to complete the Mystery at the Museum event currently running through Groundspeak. After about 8 hours of caching we had collectively found 46 caches, with a further 7 DNF's, which was sufficient to enable my son and I to complete MATM.
A nice and easy Park n Grab here, thanks to the Hint which made the find a mere formality. Everything is fine with this cache was so the log was duly signed and the whole thing replaced exactly as found.
Thanks for placing this cache.

I teamed up with ThatWeirdGuy04 and TwigNZ for a day of caching in the Pohongina Valley to work our way through the requirements for the Mystery at the Museum event. I'd looked at the Wildbore series when it first came out but hadn't had the chance to come out here and find them until now. We had a good day finding 46 caches in 8 hours between showers of rain. We signed the logs with our team initials - S T T or team STT depending on space. We were pleased with the condition most of the caches were in today so very little maintenance was required. The roads were however, rather narrow with the edge begin quite boggy so many of the caches we had to park away from and walk back.
Nice quick, easy find here thanks to the hint which made it obvious. Log and container all good so signed and replaced.

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 8 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more I decided to come back to Pohangina to finish what I had started yesterday.
A bit of a sneaky hide especialy with the use of camouflage makers.
Cheers for the cache.

JENI JudeE Ethness Nosynel and InfoFerret are heading home today. We completed the shield yesterday and now we are having fun on the trip back.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

After my drive along Ridge Road and Makoura Road I decided to cruise back along Pohangina Road and see what I could pick up along the way. No problems here at all. Cheers and TFTC
The hint was spot on. Hope to come back one day and do the Beehive was. TFTC watcache.

We went on a geo day trip up one side of the pohangina valley and down the other collecting a few caches on the way and locating ,many of the wildbore caches. some of these were well done others i am not so sure about.
thank you for these caches along our way today dodging the few showers in the area earlier in the day and stopping at Camp Rangi woods for an early lunch.

Road trip time! This weekend Team BOP consisted of Davidson Clan, TNXPro, Squirrelnutcase, FapAndGap, McJandals, NZFlossy & myself. We'd had this trip on the cards for a while but only recently had we locked in all the details. We were off to central Manawatu and we had a very narrow list of ‘must gets’ so this trip was essentially a numbers mission. We had a great time and managed just over 200 finds. Most of the caches were found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and straight forward placements although we replaced a lot of logs and a few containers as well. A huge thank you to the CO’s as this was a beautiful area to visit and there was certainly an abundance of geocaches!!
Searched a while for this one only to discover it at our feet. Naturally the hint is all you need but the cache wasn't well secured. Cheers watcache

Team BOP on tour in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region... With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro.
This weekend had been in the pipeline for ages. It was always going to be a mission for various team members to get coordinated leave passes... We secured accommodation in the rural heart of the Manawatu. This placed us well within reach of a massive trail of caches... We travelled in one vehicle, so our journey was filled with lots of laughs, and good times... Fortunately, the majority of caches were in place and were fairly quick to locate - thanks to straightforward hints and great coordinates. Many of the caches had not been found in a while, so containers were waterlogged, and logbooks were wet... Thank goodness for waterproof paper. A huge thank you also, to the various COs who made our weekend worthwhile...
A lengthy search in fading light. Found on the ground... TFTC.

Team BOP decided that with the MEGA rapidly approaching, we need to boost our numbers so we could try for a milestone number at the Mega. I am approaching my 3000th cache but was still about 325 caches away from that. Reaching the milestone may or may not happen, but this weekend certainly was about the numbers. I had an initial target I was trying to beat and that was my highest number of caches found in one day and we comfortably beat that, achieving 158 caches (subject to confirmation, once I log them all).
The best way to do the high numbers is with power trails and out here, there is a smorgasborg of powertrails.
We loaded up the van, gathered up all seven of us and headed to our accomodation somewhere in the middle of nowhere, getting there well after dark. The location was convenient, as it was right in the thick of a power trail territory.
There was no splitting us up, as we only had one vehicle, so we all experienced the cache locations, some beautiful and some not so.
As with powertails we have done in the past, there was a high proportion of waterlogged caches, but unlike powertails we have done previously, we managed to find every cache and were glad to be able to clear out an area. Also, with powertails, comes cut and paste logs, to which I apologise for.
Thanks to all those CO's who have placed the caches out there. Without you, our fun road trips wouldnt exist. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and got home completely shattered. It was so worth it.

On a road trip with Team BOP, having a blast and gathering a few smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
Great team work today with my fellow cacher. Without her I'd still be searching for the cache! Will add this walk to my list to do as the young ones are older. TFTC
Almost drove past GZ as was gas bagging too much but the hint item grabbed my attention and we parked right next too it. We decided we made a great caching team as we look at it from different angles. TFTC. Signed as rrr&jj
Nice find on a day out geocaching with woolwood9.
Ground in car park is very soft and wet.
Good quick easy find of micro at GZ. TFTC

Don't know what was more fun here. Finding the cache or doing wheelies trying to get out of the car Parked!
With a clear hint, we spent ages searching for this cache without success. Previous logs alerted us to the fact it was micro, not small, but that didn't help. Eventually we spotted it lying on the ground about two metres away. We replaced it, firmly secured, in what seemed the most logical position. TFTC
It took us longer than it should have to spot this one. We were slightly fixated on the fact it was listed as a small size, so was looking for something bigger, but then spotted it when looking from a different angle.
Thanks for setting this up watcache.

We had limited time and were racing to do a bit of a loop and stopped here. My heart sunk thinking the cache was on the walk which I didn't consider we had time for. Relieved to realise it was not far from a park and grab and hubby had the find in no time at all. We must come back and actually do the walk which looks lovely. Log was clean and dry. Signed and replaced as found. TFTC
It was raining as I was leaving home, but had stopped by the time I got to Pohangina. A quick park and grab. Thanks watcache for this multi cache.
I had some spare time while in town visiting some of the rellies, so I thought Id do a few of the easy drivebys in the area. I had a great day and grabbed a heap of caches. Lots of damp and wet caches, but not surprising given the weather. Signed as TF or Trout-fly depending on how hard it was raining, although it cleared after lunch! Thanks to all the CO's for a great day and apologies for the generic log.
Again I caught up to the farmer but this time he was resting the stock and letting them eat the grass on the side of the road but again I had hardly got past and I spotted the place where the cache was hidden so I left the engine running and jumped out retrieved the cache signed the log and returned as found before the stock wanted to get past

it was at this point I looked and looked and followed the geotrail, until hubby got out of the car and said I really suck at this hobby while handing me the cache.

Another new cache in the Pohangina Valley. Thanks watcache. Lost all coverage but managed to find easily enough.
#9884. Third to find. An enjoyable drive along The Country Road (Manawatu Scenic Route) to Pohangina today. Looped round across to “Pohangina Valley West Road”. The Beehive Creek car park was empty and GZ was all quiet when we visited. Relatively quick find. Nice hide. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

I haven't done much geocaching lately as family, holidays and painting the exterior of my house have taken priority. However, I'm down to one last coat on a wall that I can't start until the sun moves off it at about 2pm, so I took advantage of this to do some new caches that are semi-close of home that I haven't searched for before.
I received the notification for this new cache on my way back from a quick caching trip to Shannon. As I can't start painting until at least 2pm, I decided that a quick detour out to the valley would be in order.
I was only going to go for the one FTF today, but decided that as I was so close, I may as well go for the other one as well. Drove on up the valley and pulled up at the parking area and spotted the host item. Then a car pulled up into the carpark and I thought that it may have been another cacher. Turned out not to be, as they quickly left, leaving me alone to find the cache quickly. [FTF] @ 12.38pm

Two new Pohangina Valley caches popped up for us just before lunch, which we decided to forgo and head straight out in the vague hope we might be FTF. Oh well.., but Push'n East can't have been that far ahead of us - we arrived about 30 minutes later.
The co-ords put us about 6-7m out here, but the hint helped narrow things down well. The cache was wedged in so hard it was difficult to extract, so we have tried to leave it a little easier to access. Watch out for the barbed wire too! TFTC
We always enjoy a drive in the valley - such lovely scenery. We have also very much enjoyed the Beehive Creek Walk in the past - especially the gentle paddling down the stream part. After the caches were completed we stopped in Pohangina Village on the way back and made up for our missed lunch with Devonshire scones - yum.
