GreenGecko1 was nice enough to do some maintenance on this one. I gave them a replacement cache with the proper item in it, and they placed it at the posted coords. Should be all good to go now!
In NZ for the Dunedin Mega Mashup coming in a couple of days. After picking up the windowed brick on wheels, we were off to fill our picnic basket full of cache finds and have too many options available to choose from. Hopefully we wont get overly distracted by caches not on our targeted list for this trip. This cache is on our list climbing & finding where possible but alas this one required maintenance and repositioning into a more secure hide.
Muggle65 and l are in NZ for the Dunedin Mega. We also have some visiting to do so we are all over the place. We picked up our camper van and are discovering the joys of a very gutless vehicle.Muggle65 and l started off at daybreak to try and beat the rain. It was very windy and we wussy Queenslanders were rugged up nicely. We were enjoying days in the high 20s and low 30s at home so it is very cool for us here. After consulting with the CO and collecting a replacement cache or two, Muggle65 and l replaced this one as near as we could to GZ. There was an obvious slab of rock which had hit the ground so the original could be buried there somewhere Clue noted and we continued on our way. Thank you for the fun
\_()_/Non Trouve / Not found "Petite" randonne au Mount Somers aujourd'hui. Little" hike to Mount Somers today. I had some caches with interesting prices on the way. My knees remember the descent, very steep... But the view is worth it. I was able to find the first caches without problems but after a while, there was no way to find the boxes except the last one. I didn't have enough boxes on me to put everything back, so I prioritized the highest boxes, checking again on the way down if I still couldn't find anything. I'm adding a few photos to help future researchers, where I placed the boxes.
We looked and looked but we couldnt find this cache. Didnt want to spend any more time looking for it as Mt Somers beckons and we wanted to get up and back in daylight
Great day for an attempt for the summit and to get two caches for the D/T chart
With both kids away on an overnighter MrsTG and I decided to come out for a hill walk. Haven't tackled Mt Somers before so headed on out. A midmorning start so weren't aiming for the summit, summit junction was the goal.
Nice to stop for a breath......No breeze and cloud burnt off to a hot day. A second methodical search eventually netted the cache. Thanks.

Sore legs now. Decided a couple of days ago to knock the south face route up Mt Somers off. Grabbed caches along the way as I made my way slowly up. Great views. Clear skies.

We searched in lots of possible hidey holes here, and then decided to give up. I wanted to rest here while Antnich walked on a bit further up the track. Just as he left I was gazing in the direction of my GPS compass and something interesting caught my eye. I called out and directed the returning A to the spot where he extracted the container and signed us in. A well hidden geocache- visible from a certain viewpoint! Now for a well earned relax! An FP awarded and TFTC
When we saw the obvious rock pinnacle we thought, ha ha! It must be tucked under that. We started searching in every place that you could tuck something under and found nothing. We started reading old logs and saw that apart from one person who got lucky immediately everyone else found innumerable places to tuck something under. We were about to give up and walk onto the next cache and have another look on the way back when we saw a tell-tale flash of a certain familiar colour which we assumed from the previous caches was the business. It’s only visible from a certain angle, but I think it’s useful for future seekers to know that you can see the little blighter. Unfortunately with the missing cache earlier on, or at least the one we didn’t find, we were unable to crunch the numbers for the bonus. We made a guess where it was likely to be from putting in various missing numbers, but it was beyond where we planned to go for the day. Too far for us oldies!
Slowly making my way around the Mt Somers walkway, by the time I got here I was on day 4. I started to struggle between Woolshed Creek Hut and Ackland Shelter so decided to stay at the shelter last night rather than risk completing the walk in the dark. Lots of places to hide a cache here . TFTC 8ManAfter

Our first visit to New Zealand, our fourth day.
Our daughter really wanted to make this hike. After six hours I was back at the parking lot, but I was not at the top either.
My husband and daughter have made it to the top and collected all the caches.

[FTF] Plan "a" was to go to Fairlie and lake opuha to tidy up the new caches and a couple of ftfs . but then I noticed theses were still waiting to be found so plan "b" on the track by 10 .
Well that was a hard one spent a good 20min looking on the way up had to msg the co for help . in the mean time I carried on to the next cache , weather hasn't improved so dont think I'll make the top today so headed back down hoping for extra help before I got passed gz . luckily it did arrive and even then it took a while to locate at least it wasn't where I had looked already . did the maths a few times and finally came up with a likely spot for the final. Now do I go for it or keep heading down !!!!!fav for the ftf

A punishing walk but very rewarding, with 8manafter and Tandem 4, waited for the publish and then the first to finder to log the find. This isn't a small wander and you should go prepared for if the weather turns, in these Alpine climates it can turn quickly.
The walk is definitely worth the views as well as challange and finds. FP from me
