Plastic Bag has deteriorated but cache in good condition. BYOP as this one dodgyTYFTC
I picked up a hitchhiker from a couple towns over and went exploring at the nearby beach. While here we went hiking and went around to this secret beach to make this find. Hint was next to useless as I don't know what that tree is or looks like, and it wasn't near the fence. No pics, and GPS never got closer than 40-30 feet.Nevertheless I kept searching in the impressively thick grass, expanded my area, then eventually I found some 'garbage' and sure enough it was the cache in a plastic bag. Thanks for the find!
We were going by beach near low tide time so we decided to stop. My first time getting a cache this way. Took some looking as my gps receiver was taking me into thick brush. Decided to look on down the hill and found cache at 1858. Gps was showing 30 feet away. Hint was not helpful to me since Im from the United States and I have no service here.TNLNSL TFTC
Went around from shelly bay it's ok but lots of oysters so have to stay close to side or walk in water and sand if tide is out. Found it pretty easily once I worked out spot
We managed to time this one right for a low tide rock hop from Tuck's Bay. No prob finding the cache and will meander back before the tide gets us! Tftc!
As the sun was going down and the tide coming in we made our way around to this isolated beach.
We had about an hour til dusk and the tide was coming in rapidly so we rock hopped as fast as we could. Once at gz it was a quick find as the cache was in the open so I covered with some long grass to hide it a little better. Then we took a couple and headed back as quickly as we could as the tide was lapping at the rocks.
Day #4 of my Coromandel holiday...finally ticking off the only part of NZ that I have never been to
Today we are exploring up from Wyuna Bay where we are staying. First stop is to walk around the track at Long Bay to see the Kauri trees. Carried on down and since the tide was out we easily made it around to the Bay with no name. WOW that is one impressive pohutukawa tree!!! What a lovely spot and a nice easy find TFTC

Staying at Shelly Beach Top10 for a few days. We have the place to ourselves on this beautiful cloudless autumn day. It was a very pleasant walk around to get this cache. Thanks for the cache. We took the TB

1.30pm. We tried to find a track over but then had to return to the beach and round on the rocks. Bit of a trek for the old couple but we both got there and soon found it. A favourite point for showing us another great spot.
Thank you. David and Noeline.

We made our way along the beach to get this one snagged and tagged. Cheers.
Day 4 - Monday 21 December -Paritu Bay to Port Charles, Stony Bay, Colville, Coromandel and back to Paritu Bay. So lets get rolling.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

That is not a young pohutakawa that the cache is hidden at. Note the smooth bark, and, when it gets a bit older, the seed pods. Its a young karo. We took the beach route to the cache - it's nearly high tide, no worries. High tide was maybe half an hour ago.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs, 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk and lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

What a beautiful little bay! The tide was low so we headed around. Didn't take very long at all. I was expecting it to be harder and longer. Cache all secure. Thanks for bringing us here cosclan.
3rd one on todays list.
Great walk round from Long Bay.
Now to find a shortcut back.

Found during our camping trip at Long Bay. Decided to walk around and find this one after walking up to the Kauri. Found with NZGeo.
Whilst staying at the Top Ten at Shelly Beach we decided to adventure the low tide rock hop to grab this one.
Nice easy find once working out which tree it was!!

While searching the area for unfound caches, I discovered that this is one I'd found 4 years earlier with Philip Perry. Luckily I found his log, so log back dated as appropriate.
Day two and TEAM BOP has disbanded leaving TNXPro and myself to our own devices. I really wanted to sort Coromandels West coast so we left Tairua and took the Tapu-Coroglen Road in search of the ever elusive - geocaches.
We had a little adventure here as I had an idea to save on a little walking which didn't really pay off. Instead of walking the rocks around we wandered 50m up the road to the thinnest piece of bush separating us from the farm land on the other side. We bush bashed through, and over some fences and while it was arguably faster - it's not what I'd recommend. On the return trip we walked to rocks back which was far more enjoyable. The cache took us a little while to find as we were looking for young Pohutakawa near the fence line but in the end the cache was found a few meters from the fence line at the base of a Pittosporum. All good here though, cheers cosclan, TFTC

Found while here for Labour weekend, snuck out over low tide on Labour Day with the seagull and the gibbon. Beaut day for it. Cheers
Found it during Coromandel adventure trip with Aiden29. Perfect day for it. First day of Spring and Father`s Day too! Arrived here at perfect time of low tide. We made successful attempt to get here. No problems at all. Beautiful location. Cache and content in great shape. Thanks for showing us this place.
Tramyard already had plans to complete the 309 Pony Express power trail today, but he asked me if I wanted to join him while we were at an event last night. I jumped at the chance to go on a road trip to the Coromandel - my first time this far up the Peninsula. The weather was perfect, just a little cold and quite foggy along State Highway 2 early in the morning, but once the sun rose we quickly stripped down to our t-shirts (contrary to the last month of weather in Auckland!).
Since we completed the trail just after lunchtime, we headed into Coromandel to continue caching. We were lucky that the tide was out when we arrived. We decided to attempt to rock hop around the bay, expecting it to be a lot harder than it was. Didn't take us too long there and back.

A pleasant walk around from long bay. Not being from NZ I am always amazed when I see such big trees right in the shoreline

So having no boat or kayak we set out to find this cache. As we had walked in from Coromandel Town we weren't going back without it!! So stepping over the rocks from Long Bay soon the cache was in our hands. TFTC

Great to have another cache in this area for our annual camping holiday. Beautiful spot, not too hard once I took something to find coordinates with!
Easy walk at low tide. Found the cache quickly even so there where a few muggles playing on the beach. TFTC!
Well that was a walk in the park. NOT. . We tried this once before but soon realised we would have to alter our approach. Today we did just that. Found our way to a familiar landmark and set off across the beach. We were just ahead of low tide so on our way to GZ we had to rock hop, and we didn't have our sticks with us. Mr S made it okay but Mrs S was much much slower, windmilling her way across the rocks, desperate not to fall and break something. Long gone are the days when we ran around the rocks, carefree and confident. So we finally made it to GZ and soon had the cache in hand. That was the easy part. The only interruption was from the local breeding pair of paradise ducks who were very unimpressed with our intrusion into their territory. Now, the return journey. The tide had retreated so we elected to take the sand route, rather than the rock route. Not sure that was such a good idea. It wasn't long before the sand was doing it's best to suck the boots off our feet. Mr S was doing okay when suddenly Mrs S went down on hands and knees into the soft sticky mud. AARRGGHH. One boot full of water. Get up, slog on. A few minutes later, AARRGGHH down on her backside she went. Now she's wet and muddy front and back and decidedly unamused. EGAD, the things we do to Geocache. There must be an easier pastime. At least we found the cache. Would not have been impressed to have to log a DNF.
Thanks cosclan for the cache and the adventure. We think. . Have a FAV for making us do something that severely tested our resolve.

I was staying at Tapu and saw the tide was out so time to get this one. It was blowing about 40knots so no one about tftc
Found this one while on a holiday away from home in Whangamata. We were staying at the Shelly Beach motor camp so it was not to far at low tide.
Find number 4106. After arriving in Coro at 7 am I noticed the tide was on it's way out. This one was not originally on my list but with the receding tide it jumped to the top. Enjoyed the walk around the rocks. Once in the bay with no name (Maybe it should be called "Cosclan Bay") I soon had the cache in hand and had my name on the log. Sat awhile and enjoyed looking out to sea before meandering back. Thank you for bring me here.
Dear Cache Owners,
I am a German guy who stays in New Zealand for eight months.
My English is not perfect, so please don't wonder if my log entries sound a bit strange. Thanks!
The weather forecast for the long easter weekend was nice so we decided to make a family trip with our mobile home to Coromandel. We had a lot of fun there with swimming, camping, fishing and walking. We also could find some nice Geocaches.
It was low tide, so I made a little walk trough the bay and recogniced that here in this bay with name a Cache is located. So I made a little turn and went to GZ. First I couldn't find anything but after some looking i found the nice box. Unfortunately I had no pen with my so I add a Picture of the logbook.
Thanks for hiding!

We have been keeping a map full of smiley faces over Coromandel and this one spoiled it. So, as we were in the area, figured we should remedy that. However, with an advancing tide and advancing years, we had to give it a miss. We will be back.
Thanks cosclan. We will be keeping an eye on you.

A group of us were heading up to Port Jackson for a bit of a gathering so in the company of Kiwis69, HKCB & 11HPG11 this was our first stop on the trip north with an aim at some truly memorable caches and lots of laughs. All Logs signed as "HOAC" to save on space
I ended the weekend with a total of 50 caches, a FTF, and approx 10 years of lonely caches (predominantly all located above Coromandel township). A 600km round trip and back home in 42 hours, so not a bad little haul, of course remembering that the first casualty of a well laid plan is "The Plan". We also located a great number of caches that had supposedly been DNF'ed over the last several visits, so that is always a bonus and a great thing to be able to let the various CO's know.
As we drove north we were plesently surprised to note that there was this {FTF} to be had and even more surprised to note that as we arrived in Coromandel that it was supposedly still on offer. So with a little diversion and a fair bit of rock hopping we were onto this one. As we passed from one bay to the next the going got a little easier and the feet remained dry (only just). It was with releif and big that we found the logbook still clear of others names (as we knew of others that were also heading up this way). Thanks for the FTF and the opportunity to explore another area that we would have otherwise driven right on by.
A special thanks to all the CO's for whom without this trip would not have been possible.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

Joined in on the fun with 11HPG11 and Cats&Dragons on a overnighter at Port Jackson. Kiwis69 also joined the crew on the Saturday to find a few caches. The whole weekend was a blast, and a lot of fun was had. The logs were all signed as "HOAC" to save space on the logbook.
Over the two days we ended up have a whirlwind tour of the upper half of the Coromandel, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. A big thanks to all the CO's for being our tour guide/s over the weekend. A truly unforgettable trip.
The others mentioned there was a new cache in the area and that the FTF was still up for grabs, so I was more than happy to join in on the hunt. A fun walk over the rocks as the tide was a little on the high side, but we were still able to get the FTF without any troubles!!

Didn’t want to miss out on the fun so joined my caching buddies for the first part of their latest adventure today: their final destination is Port Jackson for a camping weekend, whereas I need to get to Whanga so I’m taking a slightly indirect route via Colville! Our group consisted of HKCB, Cats&Dragons, 11hpg11 and myself with logs signed as HOAC to save room. Had an amazing day exploring this coast and also became very aware of the impact of Mother Nature’s recent storms & king tides - kudos to all the locals for their clear-up efforts.
When planning our cache stops, we'd noticed this FTF was still up for grabs. Knowing that a number of cachers (is there a collective noun for cachers??) were travelling up the peninsula yesterday & today, we half-expected someone else to have made the initial find. But undeterred, and suitably caffeinated at the local bake house, we headed out for a walk along this stretch of coast this morning. We went for the scenic coastal option to Tuck Bay & then onto here, despite the high tide, and with a bit of a scramble, managed to keep our feet dry. Again HKCB was on fire as a finder and was quickly onto the hide. Amazing views along here this morning and added bonus of a group {FTF} as well, thanks heaps for bringing us here, TFTC

A few of us were heading to Port Jackson for a spot of 'summer' camping. So an early morning start meant we could collect some caches on the way up. Our group consisted of Kiwis69, HKCB, Cats&Dragons and myself. Logs were signed as HOAC to save room.
All up we had a whirlwind tour of the Coromandel and saw some amazing sights. Plus a few boxes here and there of course. It was interesting to see how the storm and king tides had changed certain spots and we were treated to some spectacular thunder storms rolling in from Great Barrier. The camping was an experience, wet, full of laughs, and a great time. Thanks to the cache owners for showing us round the Coromandel and giving us a reason to get out and about.
A slight detour to our trip plans when we saw there was this (FTF) up for grabs. A nice early morning walk here, much to the bemusement of the campers nearby. A bit of a rockhop as the tide was probably higher than ideal but when there is a first to find up for grabs we decided it was worth trying to get around. Managed to get there without getting the feet wet so that's a bonus. Thanks for showing us the Bay with no name. Glad to find the log empty so that was also another bonus.
