Man this took a lot of hunting. Manly because the hint object is a hint objectette. I found it by getting in behind and looking out. I moved it about 100mm to make it slightly easier to find. Didn't find any chain though. WTF? You discarded a chain here? You had a backpack for Pete's sake!! Always bring a plastic bag and take your rubbish home!I have a problem. I am working it, but it's hard. I have been working a streak for so long, and after that so many calendar based projects (of which multi and regular dot-days are still running). So today I decided to do the Dry Creek Loop Walk. There is an ulterior motive of course - there is a regular up there, that I can pre-find for a regular dot day one day.I cycled over, locked the bike and set off clockwise. Which makes this the second cache on the circuit, after the archived one just back there.
GPS a bit wandery today. Too many gorse bushes, not enough chain links . I see the cache was found less than a month ago so I'm sure it's my poor hunting skills rather than anything untoward. Will try again another day.
The weather forecast looked dodgy but I threw caution to the wind and headed out with the dog to complete the Dry Creek loop walk. Got caught in a couple of showers but didn’t get too wet. I made a clean sweep of all the caches as I made my way anti-clockwise around the loop.
Found this one after a short search. Some of the gorse was dead and some not so dead. Cache is in good order. Log a bit damp but writeable.

Walking the Dry Creek Loop on a fine afternoon. Took a few minutes to zero in on the cache, but got there thanks to good coordinates. Cache itself soon spotted and signed, but only saw the chain as I was backing out. It's now so rusty that it has better camo than the cache! Tftc!
Out for a leg stretch this afternoon. The last time I did the Dry Creek Loop was in January 2015. Cleaned up all the caches at that time. Within two weeks there was an additional one placed. It has only taken just over 7 years to return and there are now a few extras also. No doubt there will be another placed next week.
A relatively quick find. The relevant hint option now seems to have moved about 5 metres away but with spot on coordinates the cache was soon in hand. Thanks for the hide.

While the hint wasn’t particularly helpful, a past log soon had me looking in the right place. TFTC
Skipped this one after attempting to tackle gorse in shorts for a bit. Yeah nah!
My main purpose here today was to look for the Matariki cache and get the code therein. with that task taken care of I continued on to complete the loop and collect the other 5-6 caches on the trail I hadn't yet found. All good here, didn't have to venture in to the brambles which was good as I was wearing shorts. TFTC
Easy find as was quite exposed.. put some natural camo over it but should still be easy to find. Tftc
Of the three unfound caches left on the loop track, this was the one that seemed to be the least easy to find so I decided to head to this site first and leave the others for another evening. If I didn't find it, I would carry on to hopefully grab the next one. I checked two sites that seemed to have obviously dead hint items before realising my GPSr was suggesting I needed to be between then. I then headed into an area that didn't seem so dead and spotted what I was after. It wasn't until I replaced the cache and had a closer look that I found the last mentioned hint item. Thanks, jefraser, for the excuse to re-visit this location.
Had a good scratch around all the likely suspects, but very prickly exercise revealed nothing.
Didn't take too long to find this one. Stick with chain was lying in the bush. Put it back where I thought it should be. TFTC
Find #3173. Boulder Hill was in my sights today and the more recent caches since my last visit in June 2013 when walking Puke Ariki. Beautiful blue sky morning with frost on the ground so a chilly 2 degree start. But the day quickly changed to a cold blustery N'wester and a few clouds. Lots of fauna of many varieties - kereru, tui, quail, yellow hammer, goldfinch, chaffinch, grey warbler, tomtit, rabbits, red admiral butterflies. And lots of Puawhananga (Clematis paniculata) in flower.
Overshot this cache by about 90m as I had screen saver on the gps so a quick trip back, looked at two of the three dead gorse to find the cache. No sign of any chain. SL TFTC

Quick find on a ride of the loop track to mop up a few caches which have appeared since the last time we rode here. The chain is blending in well with its surroundings as would be expected. Lots of gorse in bloom in this area.
Had a great day geocaching in the sun. 2hours 45 minutes round trip, nice walk. Thank you
Quick find just as rain is worsening. Hoping to get to Boulder Hill before we are too damp! Tftc
found it OK after looking in a smelly spot first (decomposing animal!), cache all good, TFTC
This is my second time around the loop - there are a few new caches since my last visit two years ago. A blustery day - even worse in Wellington City; bearable up here. This was my first stop of the day - a nice easy find because I could see it from the track. Thanks jefraser!
Out for a walk with the family on the long weekend, and a nice if blustery day to nab a few caches along here. I have done this loop a couple of times now, and always choose the clockwise direction! Made a small detour to pick up a couple of caches up the Boulder track. It's a pity that the Boulder part of the track has been "upgraded" to a 4WD road now. Was a more pleasant walk before.

It was my New Years Resolution to get back into running this year. I started on New Years Day in Rotorua and have been for at least a short jog every day since. We're back home in the Hutt Valley now and I have decided to find 10 caches along the Dry Creek Loop Trail that I haven't got to yet. My plan is... one cache a day, ten days in a row, up on the Loop, killing two birds with one stone each day... a jog and a geocache until they're all found.
Day number eight. This was the eighth cache on my list. I got a bit sick of going round the whole loop, so today I just came straight up here by the shortest route, logged the visit, and legged it back to the car. I saw a man and his dog while I was on my way back down.
I had been here before and located the cache without signing my name (on the previous visit). Today I didn't even need to get my phone out to find it again and complete the formalities. It was it in the open so I put it behind the hint object when I put it back.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

Tried a couple of times to find this, but only going by notes, needed hubby GPS to really narrow into the horse for it, but we got it.
Found the cache sit quite a prickly place but with perseverance eventually found the missing link. All in order so replaced as found along with (T. B. Light up the night 479524 ) Signed log at 3.35 pm.
Down for the Wellington Mega with KirsTim & yorkshirekiwi83 and vistra for the weekend, picking up caches in the area along the way. Lots of fun had and some cool sights to see. We especially enjoyed finding these caches in the Dry Creek area today, what a beautiful area! Many thanks to all the cache owners for the great maintenance and their caches!
Spent the long weekend down in Wellington and the surrounding region with Vamber, KirsTim and vistra, we were there for the Mega event and we picked up some caches along the way. We decided to focus on the Dry Creek loop walk and found all the caches, having a wonderful if not strenuous outing the way we approached it. TFTC
I flew down to Wellington just for the day today to attend the WENZ Mega Event and I joined up with Yorkshirekiwi83, Vamber and KirsTim for a day's caching, which was focussed primarily on caches in the Hutt Valley area - signing all logs as KKKTTS. We decided that a walk was in order, so headed to Dry Creek and did the loop walk there - which was an enjoyable outing, where we managed to find all caches! Starting hunting around the wrong dead gorse, but honed in on another and soon found the cache. TFTC!
Not sure about the lost chain, we were a little distracted by the 2 guys proudly marching bare footed up the track towards up.
Dedicated to a much higher cause, no doubt.
But knowing what was in front of them, well, good luck with that.
After the quizzical looks, we soon found it though
Thanks

In the area for the Mega and decided to to the Dry Creek cache walk. Thanks for all the placements around here.
There are lots of dead gorse bushes and it took me a while to find. Saw the chain after finding the cache.

I think I'll have to add a chain link and tool to my bike kit but in the meantime I'll just find this cache.

Found after parking in the new Manor Park railway carpark on a walk up onto Boulder Hill and return completing the Dry Creek circuit. Bumped into gpetone on the way. Good to have his company. TFTC on a walk
Quick and easy diversion from the HVTC Sunday walk to Boulder Hill.
Added a TB after it had been to Samoa.

Saw this cache when it was published and decided that I would go and et it when I had a chance, but as usual time to get around to GZ was alway limited to when I had spare time.
Woke up this morning to a beautiful clear day, with a slight frost on the ground and decided that I would go for a walk and needed somewhere where I could stretch my legs, decided to come into dry creek and aim for this cache as it was close enough and far enough that it would give me a small workout. Decided to pick up Mr-Mcgoo as he needed to go for a walk as well.
Arriving at the car park, I was very surprise how much parking area there was, as last time I was here the area was totally full, as there were back packers all around the area, but today there were a few dog walkers and muggles but a multitude of choices as to where I could park.
I decided to go clockwise to this cache and it was as I remember a nice grunty walk up the incline to get the muscles working and then from there it was as steady gradient till we reached the pylons where the gradient flattened out.
Finally arriving at GZ, it only took a few seconds to track down the cache in the first spot that I look, opened it to find that the last finder was definitely Mr-Mcgoo, surprise, surprise [xx(]. Signed and then replaced as found. Was glad that I managed to replace it before a group of muggles turned up. Thanks for placing this cache here and for bringing me back on this track and back up to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13498)
Decided to continue up the track and find a couple more caches that Mr-Mcgoo had to find as I still needed to a bit more exercise. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours today.

(# 4296). Was planning on the loop track today as I had to clear some of the newer placements when I saw two new notifications of cache placements on the track. I was in no rush for the FTF so it depended whether the new caches had been found as to which direction I would go. As the new caches had been found before my arrival at the carpark I decided to take the easier clockwise. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
A quick blast around the Dry Creek loop on a nice autumn day to find some new caches. This was my first one which super accurates coords took me to directly. I had considered biking up here in the spirit of this cache (but without the fate) but decided I preferred walking it. The downhill reward doesn't really cancel out the climbing effort. Thanks for the excuse to come up here again.
Great little hide, the chain is now nicely camouflaged with the bush meaning it took a little longer to find.
#5387. Well the One Day International cricket wasn't going that well today (we later lost the game). I decided it was time to head out and get some exercise rather than being a couch potato. So headed up to Haywards and Dry Creek to do this loop in the afternoon. Definitely a steep track going anticlockwise. After a visit to the summit of Boulder Hill I was heading back to the car. Stopped on the way to pick this one up. Nice quick find. Thanks for hiding it here jefraser.
Sailed through my 6-week checkup with the hip replacement surgeon on Wednesday, so thought the Boulder Hill track would make for good rehab. Have been edging my way further up this track each day and finally made this cache.
I didn't expect to get this far so didn't bring a pen, however I improvised with a sharp stone and wet clay. I've attached a pic of the log as verification and will take a pen when I pass the cache next (tomorrow? We'll see.)
TFTC, it's good to have another smiley on this track. Cheers!

I spent a while looking around the wrong hint object, then widened my search area and found the gold. all good at GZ
Thanks for another smilie and my cache of the day. Great to see new caches published by CO which will help keep my streak going longer.

I needed an excuse for a short walk in the hills this morning and this cache was a perfect destination. Weather was nice and cool with the south wind - unlike the previous week - and after a pleasant half-hour stroll up the hill, the cache was a quick find. It was interesting studying the chain and trying to figure out what caused it to break... Signed log, TFTC
tftc ftf at 4.58. needed to take Dobby for a walk so this was good motivation. too hot for the bike today now the rush to get to the gym. dam traffic.
