Approaching the hill from the earth cache it was soon clear up and over was easy to do along the many clearings. Easy enough to cross to the cache with just a thin slip at the start. A pretty location under the trees and the cache located okay.Heading towards the coast to spend a bit of time there. Today with sacada was our travel day, just a few caches along the way and a nice explore along the way. Thanks for the cache!
Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC.A trip to Tomokin with Aquilus1 for a few days caching. Today was travel day with a few collected on the way.An excellent spot deep in the swamps. Nice.
A trip out to the river to find a series of three TE caches. Last time I was here the river was a bit higher and I didn't fancy getting wet, so turned abound about 70m from GZ.Today however the river is lower and after walking around the beach and the little headland, I found I had a dry crossing of the min-creek onto the island (presumably because I bothered to wear gumboots, thereby ensuring I wouldn't need them).A quick walk along the island past flood debris to GZ where the cache was found instantly and in good condition despite evidence of regular submergence. The log is ever so slightly damp but not enough to worry about. Nice cookers comment in the log.Glad to have this one finally found - it mocked me each time I drove over the bridge! Thanks, Tankengine!
We took 2 very interesting ways to get there and back but we got there. Tftc. Nice little spot. Out exploring with kimmy+co
Tftc easy find just a bit of a trek to her to it and back!First stop on a road trip with tash2494
Well that was an adventure to get to - I was tempted to turn round and forget it several times.
River was flowing nicely had to jump across a few rocks but easily done. Awesome spot, thanks for the adventure.
Was having a mooch around to see if it was worth, carrying the kayak down from the campground, and thought it was worth, adding this one to the adventure!
Easily found, spot-on, where it should be, just as I would expect!
There is an awful lot of dead wood and vegetation that has come down in the recent floods which makes this cache all the more of an adventure.
Thanks for the cache TR

Accurate coords and... HAPPY DAYS!
This is a story that has a great ending. We attempted this yesterday afternoon and obviously missed seeing the CO. Were beaten by the vegetation and fading light. CO gave us a strategy to avoid the worst of the vegetation. We basically donned shorts and footwear that doesn't mind getting wet and walked some of the way up the stream, one of us barefooted. The deepest parts were about 900mm.
We give this cache a favourite point for the challenge and the encouragement of the CO.

Came here today to check this with dty73. As expected, the cache was still there! I wish people would not log a DNF when it was supposed to be a "Did not attempt". This cache cannot be reached when the river is in flood! And I wish the GeoBOT would not trigger on simply 2xDNFs!
Whilst here, we moved it to a higher position, as the existing one was now partially buried.
GOOD TO GO!!!

I will check on this once the river goes down. But I think it should be OK. Both DNFs since the last find were actually "Did not attempts" - ie, it's not like they couldn't find it, they never tried. The cache is securely attached on an island, so should be fine.
River just that little too high. Probably a way through the bush but not enough time today to explore. Another day
Tankengine and I were coming back from the coast and as we were coming up to this little camping area he mentioned that he wouldn't mind checking on this one.
So we pulled in and down to the end and parked. From there we walked down onto the river beach and followed along the river, up and over a climbing hilly bit, then back down and to where the water was the thinnest to cross. Although my feet were already wet from this mornings adventures, I still took my shoes off and made my way across the creek. It wasn't slippery, but soft and squishy. On the bank the mud came up between my toes which was gross, but funny.
Once on the other side and shoes back on, we then continued along pretty easily until we came to GZ. We looked and looked around, before finally seeing the cache just hanging there. A quick sign of the log and photo then we were back off on our way again. Tftc Tankengine!!!

Nup absolutely no luck here unfortunately, I think the T rating could be increased to a 4 considering the amount of DNF’s! I would of had to strip down and wade through the river if I wanted any chance at getting to GZ! Thanks anyway
Made it within 70m of the cache but between thw wall of blackberries and the rushing river, I decided this would be one for a 'normal' year were you can probably walk down the river even.
Out caching today with Joolay we tried for this cache but didn't have shoes to cross river. Went and got some other caches and stopped off on way back. Made our way back and Joolay made the short river crossing to get to GZ. Lots of blackberries but we found a route away from the river.
Condition Report:. Good and dry
Log Status:. Lots of room

Well that was an adventure. We came earlier and battled our way there but had the wrong shoes so called it. But after Waybene Caves Earth Cache and having my old shoes on decided to tackle it again on the way home. I also bought the multi tool to get those wayward blackberry canes that gave us grief earlier. This time I just waded in and across and soon had the cache in hand.
We kept high and there is only one way through the blackberries and thank goodness we found it. A fav for the adventure. TFTC Tankengine

DNF; the flowing water was too much for us. Decrypter and I wondered if we had approached from the correct side, as on the picnic area side, the water was certainly a flowing barrier.
THIS CACHE
Today GZ was spot on every time so, as we headed for home, we thought that we may have a good chance locating this cache. We were not disappointed and the only trick was finding your way around the mountains of blackberries. We headed for the top of the hill and walked around until there was a clear path through, well sort of, then we were guided by a behaving GPS. Then it was a dry crossing straight to GZ. Having lived in the country I am familiar with willows so it helped to zero into the target.
As usual it took longer to find a way in because we followed the river however we found a very quick way out back to the car park without having to come back via the river and also avoided most of the blackberries. Isn't it always the way. TFTC Tankengine.
OUR DAY
A late morning exit from home to visit a bit of country NSW. What better way to go by allowing a few well placed caches to determine the circuit the car should follow. That sorted we left not expecting to find all the caches but at least see a bit of new country that we always bypass on our way to the coast. We won on both accounts with fantastic sunny warm winter weather all the way. Another great day in retirement.

This cache proved plain frustrating. The closest my GPS would get me was 6m....and it seemed 6m no matter where I stood in a 15m radius. I thought maybe I wasn't on the "island" seeing its so dry, so took off my shoes and crossed the stream. Geez Louise do I still have toes? It was like like walking on ice, and across the stream wasn't correct so back I crossed. I had to sit to let my feet thaw so Genghicat grabbed the phone and....had no luck. What does a willow look like without leaves anyway? Was all the debris there when you hid it? Still I see a few not seeing it so no doubt cache blind. Fell off a rock on the way back and soaked my shoes. Thank goodness for Araleun Pub and their fire. Great meals there to. Tftc
A stroll along the river bank today,
took me most of the way to GZ
The last couple of hundred metres were the hard part.
Lots of spikey plants to contend with !! [:o]
I tried a few approaches,
but ultimately was stopped short with about 60 metres to go,
by the blackberries and stagnant water
Bother !!

A trip out to Braidwood to visit the Dancing Man artwork and collect a few caches along the way. Before I could remove my shoes to wade out my gps changed its mind and pointed me to a point that was dry. TFTC.
Trip from Bright in Victoria to Brisbane, Queensland can be rather boring, so we cache as we go. Today, we started at a caravan park at Tomago River and drove up the big hill, ended up at Tarago, behind the pub.
Walked town the 4WD track to the beach, then along the gravelling sand. Got to about 150 metres before deciding my Dickie knees did not want yo venture further into the unknown!

This cache made for a good leg stretch from the highway. We parked up with many swimming muggles, although we soon lost them on heading on towards Ground Zero where there was the added bonus of a nice crop of ripe blackberries! The cache itself was located after a short search. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and for having bought us to this very nice location. Greetings from Zimbabwe
Found at 5:26:00 PM.
Camped at Warri rest area overnight en route to the coast. Plenty of blackberry vines to contend with but at least they were still bearing edible fruit. After a short search at GZ the cache was found.
Thanks to Tankengine.

17,445. Found this one with minniek after our Wingello Event.
With minniek being on 99 Tankengine Finds we decided to try for this one on the way down the coast after today's event. I thought the previous logs indicated that this would make a memorable cache for her [ insert maniacal laugh here ]. Parked in the carpark - still pretty full of campers and day trippers - and followed the river around before heading up and over away from some of the bad looking ground. Heading back down we managed to cross the water via some stepping stones keeping feet dry, and then avoiding various blackberries and other thorny bushes we arrived at GZ. Quite a bit of debris around from previous floods, and after a minute I heard the 'I see it' of a pretty happy minniek. I reached around from where I was standing and grabbed the cache. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and then we reversed our steps and then of course found the easier way out to arrive back at the car in one piece.
Thanks Tankengine !! A nice dose of the "Tankengine Treatment" for her 100th find !

Headed to the Bay to collect the kids straight after our event in Wingello today. Had left ourselves just enough time to collect my 100th TE find along the way. Even a flat battery wasn't going to stop me.
Having camped here a few years ago, I knew the way down to the river (rather obviously really) then headed off towards GZ. Was easy going until we had to divert off the riverbed....then I was grateful that I had long pants on regardless of how warm the day was getting.
Found our way to GZ without wet feet. Then I finally saw the cache and fitzy_1965 extracted it.
Thanks TE for another great cache and destination.

I went out to celebrate the New Year beyond Bungendore and took the opportunity to seek out some geocaches when we went for an afternoon swim at Warri Bridge, finding four. This cache was a straightforward find, being on the coordinates and displaying typical Tankengine traits. Getting to the cache, however, was not a straightforward affair, but I managed to find a return route that was free of blackberries. Thank you Tankengine for installing and maintaining this cache.
This was my final cache for 2018. A total of 371 for the year, which was pretty good!

even after searching the area for a quite a while i couldn't find anything. to the next cachers to come here: wear sturdy shoes and protect your eyes from low branches
A quick run down to this one before heading north again. Nice walk down to the island (should have worn my boots!), crossed over (dry) and made my way through the jungle and the blackberries. Cache found quickly and all OK.
Tried to shortcut on the way back, but things didn't look good, so ended up retracing my steps.
Thanks,

Starting the day before sun up I drove out from the coast, via Nerriga, across to Tarargo and Lake Bathurst then down to Braidwood and The Clyde Mountain then back out through to Mongarlowe to Nerriga and home again.....Today was very enjoyable day of caching!,I visited some really neat spots along the way finding alot of good hides all on a beautiful scenic country drive to top it all off.
A bewt spot to stop and take a walk down the river,at GZ I soon spotted what I was looking for.
Thanks Tankengine for the cache

As we're on our way to Canberra from the Bay we made a stop here for this one.
We took the challenging route, blackberries, plants that love you so much they just won't let you leave. Eventually arriving Ng at GZ and made a find. The crossing was dry but we parked across the river and had to get our feet wet anyway. Not so sure our older geo hound was overly impressed on the track we took.
Another TE ticked off the list.

Heading to Narroma today for the Narroma Rally, DRT and I decided to take the more scenic route and grab some caches.
We managed to drive to within about 90m of this one and the walked the rest of the way, thankfully the river was down and our feet stayed dry. TFTC

After orienteering off Wild cattle Flat Road, I headed eastwards to Majors Creek, Araluen, Mongo National Park, Braidwood and home. Lots of dirt roads, 16 caches and only 1 DNF.
This one took me a few minutes longer to find than it should have. I searched within centimetres but didn't see it. I moved off chasing the GPS, and eventually saw it when the GPS led me back. TFTC.

I had to pick up some stuff from B'Bay, I was early for the meeting so thought a quick cache on the way would be the way to go. After tripping up in the brambles and slicing my feet up I than face planted into the tea tree bush luckily my phone broke my fall. After an hour of bush bashing, the tally was ripped and dirty jeans, a torn t shirt that I threw away, a smashed phone, 17 bandaids on bramble cuts and a signed log. Thanks Tankengine
Taking The Matetrix on a weekend camping, with a bit of caching included. An adventure just getting to GZ. Nothing too hard, but many stones thrown into and across the river along the way. TNLNSL TFTC
Joined StrangeTrousers for a few hours caching. Trying to get to GZ defeated us today - so many black berries. Will defiantly be coming back and having another go at this.
Thanks anyway Tankengine

A quick Sunday morning trip out to Braidwood for some geocaching fun with CBCHic. I noted a new cache out at Braidwood and informed CC that it would be non-stop to Braidwood & we'd need to grab others on the way back. Just as well we did as it turned out. It was quite hot out there, I think it got to 35C by the end, but we were mostly in the car, so it didn't matter too much. Enjoyed the diversion along Manar Rd in particular. Had a late, quick lunch in Bungendore before heading back to Canberra. Other appointments awaited.
Didn't find this one.
Actually we gave up due to time constraints.
Thanks anyway Tankengine

Back for a second helping of blackberries (and the cache too) , once again tackled this one after sunset, the experience from our previous trip helped with getting us GZ in no time!
The cache still took some searching before it decided to reveal itself from the dark shadows. Log signed and it was off to voluntarily jump into some blackberry bushes for some delicious berries.
Thanks Tankengine, was nice to explore further up the river from the normal camping and swimming spot.

Hmmmm tricky and prickly is all we can say about that, on the plus side we got another bag of delicious blackberries for our efforts...
This will definitely be a memorable DNF, searching during the blood moon (lunar eclipse) so even the full moon couldn’t help shine the light on this one ...we have no doubt this one was probably staring us in the face (and if a cache could laugh it would have), we gave it a good shot in the darkness and shadow tonight. Still a lot of fun!
Lots of wildlife out and about, spotted a couple of deer

Hmmm - that didn't sound good - 2 DNFs straight off the bat... So I decided to check on this today. - I discovered that the branch the cache was hanging on was gone - along with the cache ... So I have now replaced the cache in a more secure, and slightly more hidden location. I apologise to the FTF seekers... Hopefully this will hang around a little longer now!

[FTF] Woohoo, FTF with Blue Iris at 1635. Drove all the way out for this cache twice. Glad that I got the FTF on the second trip. Thanks Tnkengine.
Spotted the notification for the new cache at 1330 on 31st January 2018. I had to wait till i finished work at 1700 before I could head out to GE the cache for the FT. I must have checked the cache status 50 plus times before and after I finished. Once I was free from work I headed home and changed my clothes quickly. I drove the 1 hour trip towards the GZ. I arrived close to the GZ at 1820 and ran to the GZ to start the search. I looked all around the GZ for 2 hours without finding the cache. There has been a recent flood at the GZ and there is alot of sticks / plant matter piled up at the GZ. I continually checked the gps but I could not locate he cache. Two hours of crawling around on my hands and knees scratching like a chicken got me nowhere. I was so disappointed not to get the first to find. I only left when it was to dark to see anymore. I'm completely gutted that I searched for so long and could not find the cache.
