I have started this one in the morning. Started counting and made my way past many fit locals to the final step. Found another chece. Made some calculations... made my way back to the start, got new numbers and better coordinates and the checker was happy.
In the afternoon I approached the area again and made a relatively quick find.

Up in TSV with KerriMG for a long weekend of caching. KerriMG was keen to do this one. I must admit I wasn’t keen on walking up and down castle hill as I was feeling lazy. I’m glad we went with KerriMGs idea to do this as it was fun. We walked down counting and there were a few we weren’t sure whether they counted or not. Sat at the bottom and did our sums but something wasn’t right. Walked back up counted again. Umm turns out it was our maths that was the problem. That sorted we walked to GZ but after walking around in circles I tried a different height and there was the cache.
Absolutely loved this multi so thanks karicka

Great to finally tick this one off. This cache was on my list since quite some time, as I need it for my hidden date challenge, and what better time to do this when it’s nice and cloudy.
I parked at the top coordinates and read the description multiple times just to be sure. Then I made my way down to the platform, counted all objects, did the calculations and put the solution into the checked... wrong!!
Alright then, up again and counting everything once more...mhh exact same result... does AA require counting all the way down to the foot of the hill?? ... no that can’t be...
Well, having cleared almost entire Castle Hill already, I am familiar with the gaps where this could be located. Fortunately, my wrong solution was within one of those gaps and so I continued to that area. With a bit of geosense the cache was quickly uncovered a few meters from my calculated coordinates. Nice. Thanks for this challenge!

I did the ground work for this the other day while out looking for the Steps cache in the area. While on lunch, i thought i’d go and pick up this one. I had to count the wooden steps 4 times and every bar one i ended up 2 short of what i needed to get the geocheck to light up green. In any case, i made it with a little help from the CO. Tftc and the exercise.
Day 3 of my biennial trip to Townsville to visit my in laws for Christmas. It also happens to be my third hike up this hill these holidays and my second effort on the goat track.
Slow getting out of bed this morning, so I was later than I would usually like. Parking down by the church, it was an easy walk as far as the cache, though I was in a lather of sweat already. Quickly found and noted another signature who has not yet logged it. So, I won't bother adding this to my unloved cache list.
Continued on, though at the timber platform I opted to take the rocky ridge line directly up to the eastern lookout. On the way down, I recounted everything again - yep, some more answers which were different to yesterday. Blame the lycra!
Many thanks, karicka. Nice to clean this up.

Day 2 of my biennial trip to Townsville to visit my in laws for Christmas. It is going to be really hot today, so I opted for an early start just before dawn. Having knocked over one of the historic trail wherigos, I headed for The Goat Track to shake off the last remnants of stress from the 2018 working year and get the blood pumping.
Wandered up from the very bottom, I rechecked the instructions as to what to count at the timber platform. I got distracted on the way up by all the morning walkers and their tight lycra - so much so that I realised at the top that I had forgotten to count the largest number of concrete stairs in a row. Never fear, I can recount everything on the way down. More distractions.... Hmm. Disappointingly, I ended up with some different numbers for the other stuff to what I got on the way up.
I plotted the coordinates and wandered off, where not surprisingly I found nothing. Too many distractions it seems.
Now that I am home and showered, I opened up a spreadsheet to make it easy to work some alternative potential answers. I started by assuming that the largest number counted would have the error. Two crosses on the checker (the first being my original coordinates) and I got a message that I was close.
One small adjustment an voila! Corrected coordinates. Only problem is I now need to climb the hill again.... maybe this afternoon? or tomorrow? With all the Christmas feed and cold beer I am consuming, I certainly need the exercise.
Many thanks, karicka. I will be back soon.

Went to check on this one today, found a name from a know cacher in the log but he has not logger online yet
Apologies for the late log. burgo had to prompt me.
We visited on a school excursion and got our students to apply some functional numeracy. They did the counting and calculations and got close to GZ with burgo pointing them in the right direction.
Thanks for the learning opportunity.

FTF!!! Teamed up with burgo78 for a morning climb on the Goat track. We decided to give other FTF! chasers a chance. Parking was at a premium this morning so we parked one car at the bottom and than drove to the top, we were the only ones lazy enough to drive to the top, We started our casual walk and started counting, I was out by 1 and burgo was also out by 1, oops. We crunched the numbers and had a rough idea where to look, we were only out by 10m. Frullet Jr was quick to spot the hide. We signed on the top spot and headed back to the top, Great way to start the morning and great views along the trail. Thanks karicka for the hide.
{*FTF*} 3/2/18. 8:10am with Frullet.
Didn’t have enough time to have a go for this one yesterday so the door was left slightly ajar for new racers. Kindly Frullet waited so we could join forces this morning. I’m glad he did as 2 heads certainly made it easier to keep track of the numbers and avoid having to go up and down.
Knowing the space between caches I was confident we were in the right vicinity and we came up with the container only 10m off our calculations meaning we were only slightly off with the numbers.
Thanks for another challenging hide with a great view from the final.
