When we first arrived here, there was a large group having lunch at the cache location. We continued on to the Lake Mangamahoe cache, then had our own lunch before returning to find they had all gone. The Seagnoid's replacement cache was then a quick easy find. TFTC
Alas the CO was out of town, but don't worry, littlehippy, we got your back. Thansk to an excellent cache description and hint, we knew exactly where it should be an put in a replacement. nice place for a picnic.
Day twelve of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is wandering about New Plymouth. Merry christmas!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Always. But you were remaining elusive. Arranged a replacement cache with temp RITR log to keep you rolling along. cheers.
Day 11- Monday 23 December. Around New Plymouth today with an event at Pukekura Park to top the day off.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

A bit dissapointed this one is missing as it is such a lovely spot and a great place for a cache.
If you are local it needs replacing
If you are from outside the area please message me and I should be able to replace it or adopt it

First cache expedition since knee surgery 6 weeks ago. A stop to enjoy the serenity of the lake and listen to the birds. After we found the cache we just sat and enjoyed. Tftc
Found by Blenheim Bear as you would imagine a beautiful spot, seems a bit of a waste putting a nano out here, but hey that’s up to the co. A very wet Sunday so no one around, soon found and signed BB to save paper. Thanks for the cache Blenheim Bear
Took a little bit to find the cache cause it’s so tiny lol kids had fun finding it nice view
Today marks the eighth day of our journey to the south island. After spending the night at the camp site right next to the beach entrance to the three sisters we had a morning walked to the three sisters at low tide. We took some nice pictures and enjoyed the views on this clear day. We then enjoyed a nice breakfast prior to driving up the hill to complete the earthcache there before we continued our journey towards New Plymouth. After parking the van at the end of the road near the other cache I decided to walk back to this one after taking a few pictures, while my muggle friend did the walk around the lake. I arrived at GZ with no one around and made a quick find. Tftc.
Nearly went T over A on the walk in, wearing work clothes and trying to move quickly before the rain got any worse. Muggled out in the end so headed back and decided to come back on another trip to enjoy the area.
This is a beautiful viewpoint, and one we wouldn't have known about if it weren't for this cache. Also interesting seeing several worn-out birds nests scattered around, after the last breeding season.Thank you!
Cool micro cache found at the start of our tramp round the lake. Didn't bring a pen so didn't write in log but opened to have a look. Very cool.
We started the day with hiking on Mt. Taranaki. It's a very beautiful landscape there. And we even found some caches. T4tc
What a beautiful view. We Start here our trip.so we didn't ist down.but we found the cache quick
No luck here. Fist time past there were muggles having a picnic. On the way back I stopped and looked again. Some people feeding ducks nearby but they soon moved off. Then had a good search through all the normal spots. Didn't see or feel anything. Might be cache blind but it eluded me today.
A fairly quick find, being a week day not so many muggles around!
Am heading South for a few days so this is the first of a handful of caches I thought I’d look for on my way. TFTC

After doing the nearby older cache at the end of the lake, I stopped here for another as it would be rude to just pass the cache by. A short walk to GZ followed by a quick find. TFTC.
Found at 17:18.
Our second trip to New Zealand. This time we explore the North Island for 3 weeks. This was one cache we found.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache littlehippy

Stopped by to replace the log today but being a beautiful day there were muggles picnicking in the sun and I was unable to get to the cache. Will stop by one day next week.
The log is very full with only 2 spots left for signing. Lovely spot to sit and enjoy the peace.
What a lovely area, wish we had more time to walk around the lake, but it was getting dark and we had other caches to find. Will have to come back.
Quick trip away with woolwood9.
We soon had the cache found and log signed.
Enjoyed the drive around the area and the good caches.
Nice spot with the big trees.

There were a few other cars in the parking area but the occupants were elsewhere and we were able to have a short sit down while we squeezed our name on to the log strip.
We have picnicked here before as it's a lovely spot. I have also been here as a wedding photographer but on that occasion the bride and groom got drunk and ended up chasing each other through the bushes with cricket bats and I never got to take any photos.
Thanks for the cache.

Down in np for the weekend and picking up some of the newer caches. Picturesque spot here - TFTC
A handy drive by on the way home from work. Very little daylight left but a feel in all the nooks eventually located it. Thanks.

I went out here early this morning before the predicted rain, this time with the cache on my GPS which seemed to be missing when i visited here as i passed by on the way into New Plymouth. I located caches here in this reserve several years ago when an accompanying friend found a cache much to her delight and in her euphoria did not look where she was going and ended up with a broken bone in the foot!.
this is a nice little cache at a rather pleasant spot and well worthy of a proposal.
Thank you for this cache, another smiley face and another cache for the souvenirs.

Found this cache last weekend but as it was an easy access, I leet it up my sleeve to fill in a dot day.
Returned to log it today, all still on good order.
Cheers.

I was back in New Plymouth last night for the first time in a couple of months and after my morning meeting, it was time to head home. This cache had been placed since my last Taranaki visit, so it was a must do today. I enjoyed a pleasant walk down to the GZ and the cache was a quick find. Signed and then retraced my pleasant walk back to the car. TFTC
Normally this is a great spot to come to, but today early morning, there was a very cold SE wind blowing so it wasn't very pleasant. Thanks for the placement littlehippy.
After finishing all my meetings in New Plymouth it was time for me to start making my way South back towards Wellington, but I had a few spare minutes to stop and pick up a couple of caches along the way if I thought that it might be worth a look.
As I was heading out of New Plymouth I knew that there was a couple of new caches placed along SH3, having finish my appointment early I decided that it might be a great idea to stop by and check out this spot, Lake Mangamahoe as I havent being in here for quite a few years.
Arrived in the main car park and noticed that there was a couple of cars in the car park, decided to go for a short lake walk around the long way to GZ, as I rounded the corner I spotted a couple of Fly fisherman trying their luck but no joy today, had a brief chat before moving on my way.
Finally arriving at GZ, I took a few minutes to survey the area and saw the two fisherman , but they were packing up and making a move, not long after that the area was all clear, took a seat to take in the views and then it was time to look for the cache, was quite surprise that I was able to find the cache very quickly, retrieved it without any issues, signed and replaced it back as found.
Thanks littlehippy for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this lovely spot, looking forward to finding more of your caches in the future, TFTC TNLNSL (13246). Giving you a fav point for the great location, now it is time to go back to the car and make my way South, wish I had more time really love spots like this.

Nice to have another cache at Mangamahoe - lots of romantic spots around this lake (although the plentiful duck poo can make sitting on the grass a challenge!) Found cache by process of close investigation. TFTC and a fav from me.
Thought this would be an easy spot.....but spent 20 minutes and could not find it. Knew what to look for. Moved leaves in case it's fallen down but nothing. Please check it and advise. Thanks
Thanks for the cache and the opportunity to fill a dot day. Great view and peaceful spot. Shame it was only a nano though as it’s a great spot for a child friendly cache (with room for swag).
Today I am taking some time off my full time distance study and having a day for me which includes geocaching. Upon parking nearby I spotted a nice little pathway which wasn't the most direct route but it certainly had a great view. From here I could see gz and also that there was a couple of people nearby who moved on just before I got there. Lovely place to sit and breathe and soak up nature for awhile. Tftc
Got to the cache and a great day took the the time to walk around the lake before making it mine. It was good to sit down to recover and when my brain can back found the container and sign log TFTC
A joint effort for {FTF} with the Maxners and GigiEV. Heard the email ding come through 1/2hr before I checked it. Yay a new cache..5km from Home!! I have to go!! It’s a dot day! Pulled the minions out of bed and rushed out in the pouring rain...pulled into the GZ driveway to start the gps and a another car rushed passed me..eeeeekkk it’s another cacher I bet..so I rush off after them, gave Mr Maxner a hell of a fright as I sneaked up behind him (sorry again lol)! We finally found the sneaky cache, couldn’t open it so luckily I had another person there to open it! Signed log and probably smudged all the names off as i re rolled log as it is torrental out there. TFTC
A shared {FTF} with GigiEV and Trayc.g! Checked my emails as I was about to put the kids into bed...whats this? A new cache, and only a few k's up the road. Kids in the car in pajamas, night time book as we drove...parked up, only to see what I suspected was a fellow cacher arrive hot on our heels. Hubby was the only one wearing a raincoat, so he was designated to find the cache (well planned on my behalf!)...off he took down a path, unaware of the cacher close by. Fortunatley he has a strong heart and was able to cope with the surprise of a woman jumping out in the darkness from behind a tree yelling "the race is on"! Cache found together, just in time as the security guard was trying to kick us out. TFTC and the laughs!
{FTF} Joint effort. Finally got my account set up tonight and a new cache showed up! My mum (Tracy.g) got me out of bed for this one. She brought the log to me as it was pouring with rain. TFTC
