How nice to find a cache in the presence of the CO!I believe this may be the only letter box on the island as theres no postal delivery here at all with residents having to check mail at the post office!Enjoying two weeks on Norfolk Island, caching, enjoying the magnificent scenery and friendly people. Beautiful place, thank you TeamAstro for placing this game piece here, showcasing this lovely area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!

Found with 2MuchMum as the last cache of the day. Some tired legs and grateful for the clearing of the lantana. Beautiful birdsongs to help us. TFTC
OK, found. A couple of issues here. The Lantana has been cut right back. The letterbox was, as others have said, 1/4 full of water. Luckily, in cache containers have kept the contents dry. The gaffa tape to help seal the letterbox has let go. A cartridge of silicone might be handy here. CheersBundy
TFTC Emptied water out of letterbox which was a quarter filled. The secondary container inside kept the contents dry. Stamp has dried out but able to sign log. What a large letterbox!
#7533- Somehow I had put one number of the corrected coords I worked out in wrongly. It brought me to a spot others had obviously looked, but not the right one. A paf thankfully put me straight. Wow, what a great ' other's container. Favourite from me.
My buddies: bella at waggyThis cache should've been a large!!Great day for caching today. The cache needs an anchor of some sorts.. else it will roll down the hill ! The cache was returned to a very precarious position. Fingers crossed it stays. My buddy stepped on dry twigs and fell to the ground ! So take care here!Thank you TeamAstro, for creating, placing and maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.Follow my story on Instagram @AlphaDeltaIndigo
Out caching the area with ADI this morning. Always good to have a letter box cache. A bit slippery at GZ as I found out the hard way. Inking duties done. TFTC
Easier than I expected. I accidentally stepped on a loose branch and the letters went tumbling so replaced as best as we could
Found with MummyPenny this morning. Perhaps our final find here. That's some letterbox. gets a fave. Thanks TeamAstro,

Found during a week of geocaching on Norfolk Island with GeoMates. It was a successful week and an adventurous one. Thanks go to TeamAstro for placing this cache.
Several of us were heading in the wrong direction but thanks to Gatherer Hade we found the goods. Thanks for this cache!
#7589 NI Day 4With no organised events until late this afternoon, we headed out after breakfast to focus on the north eastern part of the island. Nice to add another letterbox to the collection. A great container too. Was initially worried that it was a puzzle box, but got in on our first attempt.TFTC TeamAstro
Several of us had done the projection prior to arrival at the posted coordinates, but we all walked to different spots. Hmmm... Well glad to say one of our G8 members (group of 8 geofriends) walked in exactly the right direction to get CIH. An FP from me. ?? TFTC TeamAstro
It's a good thing there were 8 of us here, as we had a number of different options for GZ and 4Rods eventually found the right spot. Mine was about 100m away! Nice spot to visit too, with some cows watching on. TFTC
So there were 8 of us. We hopped out of the cars. Interestingly we all had different coords for this one. Luckily ours turned out to be right, and we found the biggest letter box ever. Log signed as G8. Thanks Team Astro.
I kind of knew what sort of container we would find, but this must be the largest container on the island! Perfectly themed hide.
OCW frazeydaze. Wandered down the slope and frazeydaze disappeared into the undergrowth to claim the prize while I admired the view across the valley.TFTC
Found with oldmorty. Not sure where the coordinates were taking us until I spotted the letter box. Thanks to the CO for the cache.
Having had a brief but heavy shower the road up here was quite slippery. I had managed to solved this without too much trouble. The car tyres were caked in mud, but at least the rain had stopped. The vegetation however was still ver y wet and made me wet as I pushed through. Wow, what a huge cache. I had to figure out how to open it and pressed various things when the penny dropped. Nice contents.
Day 5 of my Norfolk Island adventure. I can understand why people want to live here . Its a little bit of paradise. Wow so much history on the island, Im enjoying my wandering seeing the sites . Some logs signed as N2OThis is my 12102find.Thankyou TeamAstro for placing and maintaining this cache
After arriving at the carpark, a few steps downhill sent the local cattle into a bit of a frenzy, and they all ran off downhill, leaving me to contend with the big, brown, and sloppy reminders of their presence. Once I figured which downhill was the correct one I had the letterbox in sight. Usually cacher trails are a giveaway, but the underground was also full of cattle trails. But I got onto the correct one first up. TFTC
We had tried this one yesterday, but had not noticed the option to perform a projection, so, after a non successful try using the other method, we decided to do the projection in the evening and then come back today. However, the projection method pointed us in a direction where the surroundings did not match the descriptions in the second method. Reverted back to the second method, and pushed on a bit further into the bush, where eventually the letterbox was found.
Over with IolantheK from Brisbane celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary [^]Todays cache collection is brought to you from the east side!!Off Island; IolantheK choose Method 1 and calculated GZ within an inch of its life [:0]On Island; Was confronted with much bush/lantana but the the Off Island co-ords worked [^]Nice easy find and the cache is in good condition, including its spiders [^]Reoriented container as per description , all good for us to leave now [^]TFTC The Invisible Postman
T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge Today's plan is to visit the Cascade area. I'd used Method 1 to solve this at home, and had GZ plotted for when we arrived. T-Tech was dubious of my GZ so we worked through Method 2, and it proved I was right. A quick find once we'd pushed through to the correct spot. A few bulbous little brown spiders were inside the container, which surprised me as I thought there were no venomous spiders here! Photo is attached. TFTC, TeamAstro.
Found with the Canberra group on the 5th day of our Norfolk Island geocaching adventure. Day dawned wet but clear day noe though still windy. Log signed as Dem CBR. Tftc
Mucked this up and sorted with PAF. Cache guardian pic attached. Looked like a red back but no red stripe. How exciting to be at Norfolk finally. This has been the plan for so long. Lovely to be here with Contesta, barb2e, Strangetrousers and IPlod65, signing as DEM CBRThanks for getting me out and about TeamAstro

Zoom zoom zooming around in Kermit (green not red) Logging as DEMCBR.Wild and wooly weather here again today This was a quick and easy find and here at Where are all the letterboxes? today. Thanks so much for the many caches TeamAstro and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light
# 8962 Norfolk Day 4, team "Dem CBR" myself, iPlod65, Joolay, barb2e and contesta had another fantastic day of caching and exploration. Another day of hard climbs starting with a trip to Bird Rock. It's a steep walk down there and even harder back up. The rewards were there withe great views and some whales to watch. Then we headed over to Cascade Bay to grab the caches over there. It's a rough path to cascades along the cliffs but well worth the trip. Not sure there is a postal service on NI anymore. Logs signed collectively "Dem CBR", which in local parlance is "them from Canberra".Thanks The Invisible Postman for the Letterbox Hybrid
On holiday in Norfolk Island with StrangeTrousers. Beautiful Island. TFTC signed as DEM CBR
It turns out that if you don't read the cache instructions correctly, there's a strong likelihood you'll end up with duff coords and be searching for the cache, which is actually 90m or so to the west. I can confirm...
It also turns out, if you recalculate the final coords, but stop short of GZ and only check the potential hiding spots on 'the edge', you are unlikely to find the cache. I can confirm that also...
It turns out if you push through the green barrier and follow your GPS, you have a significantly greater potential to locate the container and claim the find. I can confirm...
I'd love to know where this container came from, it's really kind of cool and nothing like I have seen before. On approach, I was wishing I had left over pizza on hand.
Cheers TeamAstro, a favourite point for the container and for making me work much harder than I needed to, to get my name in the log.

Had method one sorted before leaving home but it didn’t take us to the cache. Had to resort to method two as well as referencing previous logs. We did a lot of walking around and enjoyed the area and sea breezes. We had our picnic lunch of tuna and biscuits and a cup of coffee. Then it was through the lantana. Geohusband made the find and boy did we upset the roosting hen which was about a metre away from GZ. She was still squawking when we had got back to car. Thanks for the adventure, the memory and the cache. Favourite point for this.
After giving up on Friday, I tried the first offset method again and the location seemed better. I used to love bashing through nearly impenetrable scrub but that was in our younger days. A shortish journey through different lantana type bushes brought us to the letterbox, found by Mrs George. The only thing we stamped here was our feet, but I added G.M. to the log book. Tftc team astro, and e3.
Found with H as O wouldn’t get out of the car. TFTC - for anyone following method 2 to find it, it’s under an Olive, not Hawaiian Holly.
I was looking at geocachers nearby after dinner and noticed this letterbox cache was close and had a traveller Geocoin in it then I noticed that my geoson found it on the same date 4 years ago. So that meant it was a must-do tonight. This meant doing it in the dark. Going in I followed a tunnel under the lantana but it got smaller and smaller as I went, until I was crawling on hands and knees. Greetings from the Blue Mountains in NSW.
Came here yesterday, of course read the description wrong. After PAF, we were back today to find the lost mail in the dead letter office. Great container stamped log and replaced. Left a trackable to travel. Thanks to TeamAstro for an interesting letterbox.

Day 3 on the Island and still fighting the elements. A heavy fog abounds and the ground is ultra slippery.
We managed 18 caches and a few stages of the Lookouts Adventure Lab caches today.
Had a real problem with this cache and had to PAF to sort me out.
Very clever, visited trackables and added a favourite.

On 15 October 2022 a new batch of prisoners were shipped out of Brisbane to spend 7 days incarcerated on Norfolk Island. It has now been 2 nights and 3 days into their sentence at Ocean Breeze Cottages.
The prisoners have made several unsuccessful attempts to find escape routes from the Island. To date including today's visit to the whaling station.each of these attempts has been fruitless.
So now it is back off into the high country to avoid the guards and seek alternative methods of possible escape. The escapee dived through some thicket when a nearby cow / bull let off an extremely low bellow.
It is here a method of escape was found? Is it possible to post a prisoner back home?
Norfolk Island Postcode 2899 is serviced by Australia Post. Technically Norfolk Island is considered a domestic territory of Australia. Parcel post from, other NSW postcodes to Queensland is 5 business days.
( PS - Sitting back here in Brisbane 7 days later I'm still waiting for all the pieces of my companion to arrive home. Looks like serving out the sentence was a good option after all)

This one took a long time. It proved we are not good at following instructions. The attempt at the coordinates was better. We had lunch and then the method became apparent. A find at last.
I knew straight away i would have to follow the good old step count for this ones as i suck at doing coordinate/mathy type stuff lol. Found very easy, TFTC
Find Number 2507 found at 14:24. Today we found 3 caches. We had 0 DNF's.
Day 3 of our holiday on Norfolk Island. Today we visited a number of local businesses on the "Over the Cattlestops" tour in the morning and had the Island Fish Fry for dinner.
I spotted the container from a few metres away, once I had battled down a not very well-defined path. Once open, the container proved to be teeming with small crawly things, so I gingerly retrieved the inner container. I shook out most of the bugs, but I suspect they will return.
The cache was in good condition. We signed the log and replaced the container as found
Thanks TeamAstro for the cache.

Time to head to Norfolk Island to celabrate our 70th birthdays. When we were here before we were not geocachers, this visit will be spent gathering geocaches and revisiting our favourite places. Our appologies for the generic logs it does not take away the enjoyment we have found in the fantastic places they have been placed and all the different styles of caches that we are enjoying,

A much quieter day today, a little touristy stuff then a couple of caches in the fading dusk light. It was much darker yesterday, we thought we'd 'grab' the letterbox on our way back to the accommodation, of course without reading the description until we were walking out of the car! What does NFIPC stand for? Bah - can't matter, lets just pretend it isn't there, and project without bothering..... so we searched around almost exactly 180 degrees and 100m off for a few minutes before calling it off, going back and reading it properly.... Oh.
Today we parked and walked straight to it.... surprisingly the logbook was a little damp, but not too bad.... TFTC!

After quite a long day, from dodging the weather so we could go glass bottom boating, to searching the town centre for a bite to eat, Dad and I went out to grab some caches near our accomodation. Only found 2 caches but had a great time!
After not reading the description quite right yesterday, we headed back to grab this one this afternoon. After reading the way to find the cache without the GPSr, we got confused and just resorted to using the GPSr....

Once we found the right trees we where onto it. BTW the DLO wants their letter box back.
Now that’s a beaut sized cache. Wow! We did the projection and followed the GPSr straight to GZ
All is good here.
We love the smell of lantana. Pity it’s such a pest.
Thank you for the cache. Finding it added more fun to our day.

Spending the day caching around Norfolk Island between a few showers. We covered quite a bit of the island and traveled along many of the minor roads.
Thanks to the COs who have placed hides on the island as well as Endeavour3 who has many caches, as well as maintaining the caches of others.
Now that was a letterbox with a difference! FP given!

Today was our first full day on NI with the weather overcast and only a few short showers. Due to the number of caches found, will do a generic log. Thank you to the CO's for placing these caches in the respective location. These caches brought us to many great views of this beautiful islands. TFTC
Haha I thought you were joking about going into the lantana - but once braved a super easy find. Letterbox left in correct position
Quick find using method 2. Lantana not too bad. Cool breeze and shade nearby. Tftc
Aquilus1 and myself were on a mission: Go to Norfolk Island and clear the place out in 48 hours! This we achieved as we arrived well prepared, having ground out the puzzles (some with assistance) so that we had coords for nearly all hides before leaving Australia.
Brain tickler test & vaccination certificates in hand, we were shocked on arrival that our Australian mobiles had no roaming coverage....NONE! But, thankfully it seems most accommodation not only comes with a car, but comes with a phone as well.
I swear we did at least 5 laps of the island, I knew my way around very well by the end. NI is such a beautiful place, I am coming back with the family in a month and I already know exactly where I will take them.
On our first day we hosted an event and thankfully the local legend cacher, endeavour3, graced us with his presence. Some sage advice on the trickiest of NI hides was gladly received
And, it has to be said......OMG THE HUMIDITY!!! Canberra has none at all, it was a major shock to the system!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We were glad there was a Letterbox here, and not a PO Box. Cache a little worse for wear though

Parked with all the chickens.. I love those funky chickens and damn but they run fast! Made our way down to the cache, we had coords but followed the directions too and soon easily spotted. Found it open and full of brown water. Will need maintenance and photo log attached, will let the CO know. Thanks for the letterbox.
Trip log: Norfolk Island... Not something we had been planning to do but with GreyHams noticing travel here was starting up again, a good deal on flights and that this would count as a new caching 'country' this was indeed a very tempting location to visit.
Puzzles were solved, our double vaccinations certificates ready to go. A last minute change in the entry requirements added our PCR tests... but we arrived.
We had a challenge to collect as many of the caches as we could in the 48 hours we would be on the Island... A caching trip, but one that guided us around into every hidden gem the Island had to offer. All its beauty, history, scenic and quirky... and moisture! Humidity that sucked the energy out of every pore as we sweated our way about, but it was awesome!
An event the first evening was fantastic to meet with endeavour3, a wealth of local knowledge and assistance... both caching and the local area. It was great to confirm details, amend as needed and with a few DNFs help us back on track.
An honourable mention to the cows, especially the one that licked all over the car, the feral chickens (but not the roosters that wake up far to early and noisily) and the very friendly waving people everywhere we went!
Thanks for your cache that helped guide us about, and can all the caches be found within 48 hours... I'm very pleased to say that yes we could!

A morning drive to gz to find our last remaining physical cache. Once in area no problem locating a catcher track to reveal a very large container. Really like these giant size boxes. TFTC
The one and only letterbox in the island and when we arrived at GZ I surprised at the size of the container. Duncan tells me it was an airline mail box but what an excellent cache container. This whole area was very serene, loved the view through the trees to the trees.
In a geogroup and some favored Method 1, others Method 2. The method 2 cachers were successful sooner, to find the nice big cache. Tftlbc
This was an interesting cache to find. Followed the option 2 directions and cache was located. Tftc
Called in at this letterbox cache this morning with Team Welsh and mrandmrschosen. Some of the group attempted method 1 and missed the obvious, and the rest headed off using method 2 and were rewarded with a lovely big cache container. Nicely done, thanks.
Day 2. Jude-E made the find after we did a bit of ring a ring a Rosie going round the wrong way. Then the view distracted me for a moment before hearing Found it. What a well placed cache. Only problem was when opened a few cockroaches emerged.
Took a bit of hunting to find it but we figured it out in the end. A bit soggy but otherwise fine. Tftc.
My projected coords were definitely wrong so resorted to the option 2. Used to orienteer a lot but have given up! Thanks for the hide. Some water was in the sistema but log dry. About a million cockroaches fell out of the letterbox. Eek. Not my favourite!

While at GC73YER I noticed a road going up the hill. Decided to check it out as I thought there would be yet another wonderful set of views from up there. Well the road turned a bit rough and washed out but our sturdy little car traversed it with no problems. Photos taken, GPS checked and hey presto.... look at that..... another geocache ready for the finding. We chose the second method of discovery and soon had the log book in hand for signing. We continued our journey onwards...... great views and adventure. TFTC The Invisible Postman.
5th find on Norfolk. 5.10pm
Used the 2nd method to find this letterbox. Thought I’d maybe done it wrong but then the clearing appeared and the letterbox was hard to miss. Opened it up to find a spider has made the inside her home. Brushed her away and signed the log.

Probably the most obscure spot we've been to so far, but enjoyed seeing the extra special cache box. ??
We visited a lot of other Hawaiian Holly Trees before we found the right one. Even found a cat trap. TFTC
Always pays to read the cache notes before jumping out of the car and racing off! Once we realized our mistake we used method 2 and found it easily. Enjoying our little drive this afternoon. Thanks
After realising that it was not at the listed coords, we returned today and made the find. Not too scratchy. TFTC
I bush-bashed through the scratchy vegetation, slipping down the hill. I had forgotten my stamp, but it was too big for the small log anyway. Nice big cache. I found an easier way back. TFTC TeamAstro.

My first find in traditional letterbox fashion, and it wasn't difficult at all. I was warned with the footwear I had that I'd have a bit of trouble but there was none at all. As my 54th find on Norfolk this puts me as Norfolk Island's top geocache finder (currently there are 52 caches but I've found some on previous visits that are now archived).

No one sends letters anymore!! The box was empty, must be waiting for the postman. Very appropriate hide as we are putting in a new postbox at home and Australia Post was advertising on the radio as we approached. TFTC
Sightseeing around the island and picking up a few caches along the way. I discovered this with a combination of both methods. Lantana! horrible weed! I distinctly remember as a little girl my dear old dad being headbutted into a huge thicket of it near our outdoor Thunderbox by our pet goat - Billy - good name for a goat?? FP awarded
I made this one harder than I needed, as i tried to skirt the lantana. After arriving at GZ I discovered I couldn't open the cache, so carried it out into the open and called Pa down from the car. Oh dear, just as he arrived my magic worked and the cache opened. SL TFTC Invisible Postman
Justjessie and I made a late decision to spend a week holidaying on Norfolk. A quick check of the caching map revealed the "Se Dun challenge" The local term for completing something, so we set about "completing" all 53 caches on the Island. Can't be that hard can it....?
In the end we just went with Geo sense and made a quick find...
Each log has a random picture from our time on the Island, we would recommend it to other cachers as a great way to spend a week, getting to know the Island the people and their heritage.
