Logs
We were caravanning and stayed at Townsville for a weeks geoing back on 1/7 / 23. We finally can signe off on this challenge checked through Project No 33247
Signed this one with jodsta83 and Stephyy a couple of years ago while up there for the Mega Event. I didnt qualify at the time, but have now bagged the caches I needed (I have achieved bingo on row G). So proud of myself! Really enjoyed this challenge - actually all your caches we found up there were top notch. Thank you, burgo78 [Swearah](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Swearah) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7JR20/33247 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.
This was the second of the main reasons to visit Castle Hill (apart from the view) in Townsville. When I found the cache online I almost fullfilled it except for 10 or so D4 caches. So these have been done in the past few months in the Netherlands and now I'm ready to log the find! How exciting! Navigating the hill to get to the cache was interesting - took me longer than expected to find the stash but found it! Here's the proof:[Tuonra](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=Tuonra) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7JR20/33247 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.OK: BINGO{I have:Fail: I had only 0 total loops of 1 neededUser has 43 finds (20 needed) Filters:( types (Virtual Cache) )User has 1496 finds (1000 needed) Filters:( types (Traditional Cache) )User has 13 finds (10 needed) Filters:( types (Wherigo Cache) )User has 1 finds (1 needed) Filters:( types (Webcam Cache) )User has 283 finds (200 needed) Filters:( types (Unknown Cache) )User has 14 finds (1000 needed) Filters:( region:Queensland , country:Australia)User has 80 finds (80 needed) Filters:( difficulties (4 , 4.5 , 5) )User has only between 2024-07-30 and 2024-08-046 of 100 days I have found required number of caches (1) of the required number of types (1) in each of 3 regions (required number of regions: 5).Filters:( country:Australia)User has 54 finds (60 needed) Filters:( sizes (Large) )User has 1 finds (5 needed) Filters:( terrains (5) , difficulties (5) )I made it with 11 different types and needed only 10 Filters:()User has 74 finds (200 needed) Filters:( types (Multi-cache) )User has 0 finds (1 needed) Filters:( types (Mega-Event Cache) )User has 1080 finds (500 needed) Filters:( sizes (Micro) )User has 12 finds (15 needed) Filters:( types (Events) )User has 72 finds (15 needed) Filters:( types (Letterbox Hybrid) )Number of souvenirs: 159 (50 required)User has 8 finds (15 needed) Filters:( difficulties (5) )User has 17 finds (40 needed) Filters:( types (Earthcache) )User has 109 finds (80 needed) Filters:( terrains (4 , 4.5 , 5) )I have found required number of caches (1) of the required number of types (1) in each of 21 countries (required number of countries: 5).Filters:()366 dates of 365 completed. The walk together with Team Saturnus was not an easy one. Especially when you take the long route. On GZ is was luckily easy to find the cache. Thanks for the great challenge and the great cache !
10115 - 09:20Together with team IkZie.After checking the bingo it was waiting on the start of the holiday. After a some looking around we got it in sight and had the logpaper there! Thanks for the challenge and placing this cache. Greetings from the Netherlands. Thanks for the cache
We signed the log for this cache back in 17-08-23 and checking our stats we have now qualified for this challenge.Tassie Trekkers fulfills challenge Caching Bingo Challenge (GC7JR20) according to https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7JR20/33247Many thanks burgo78 for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience.
(# 10216) My muggle friend and I took the Goat Trail to the top of Castle Hill, and then walked down the road toward the cache. The muggle was worried about snakes, so he didn't follow me all the way to GZ. But me, being from overseas and probably underestimating the hazards, wouldn't let anything stop me, having come this far. I am three squares short of being able to claim a "Bingo Blackout". The missing achievements are of course the local ones; I don't have a thousand logs in QLD, and have only three states in Australia. The third one is the one about a 100 day streak. But since those three are all in row two, I am able to claim rows one, three, four and five. As well as columns one and three.// e-scape[e-scape](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=e-scape) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7JR20/33247 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.OK: BINGO{I have:ok:9 total loops of 1 neededUser has 170 finds (20 needed) Filters:( types (Virtual Cache) )User has 3111 finds (1000 needed) Filters:( types (Traditional Cache) )User has 62 finds (10 needed) Filters:( types (Wherigo Cache) )User has 16 finds (1 needed) Filters:( types (Webcam Cache) )User has 5505 finds (200 needed) Filters:( types (Unknown Cache) )User has 17 finds (1000 needed) Filters:( region:Queensland , country:Australia)User has 881 finds (80 needed) Filters:( difficulties (4 , 4.5 , 5) )User has only between 2024-04-22 and 2024-04-221 of 100 days I have found required number of caches (1) of the required number of types (1) in each of 3 regions (required number of regions: 5).Filters:( country:Australia)User has 116 finds (60 needed) Filters:( sizes (Large) )User has 43 finds (5 needed) Filters:( terrains (5) , difficulties (5) )I made it with 13 different types and needed only 10 Filters:()User has 661 finds (200 needed) Filters:( types (Multi-cache) )User has 6 finds (1 needed) Filters:( types (Mega-Event Cache) )User has 5146 finds (500 needed) Filters:( sizes (Micro) )User has 141 finds (15 needed) Filters:( types (Events) )User has 135 finds (15 needed) Filters:( types (Letterbox Hybrid) )Number of souvenirs: 235 (50 required)User has 175 finds (15 needed) Filters:( difficulties (5) )User has 127 finds (40 needed) Filters:( types (Earthcache) )User has 489 finds (80 needed) Filters:( terrains (4 , 4.5 , 5) )I have found required number of caches (1) of the required number of types (1) in each of 31 countries (required number of countries: 5).Filters:()366 dates of 365 completed. After finding my 200th multi this afternoon I can now call BLACKOUT BINGO 7.5 years after beginning this game and 5.5 years after this cache was published.
Proud day.
Proud day.
Find number 12367 at 8:08:30 am on Thursday the 31 August 2023
Departed Melbourne several weeks ago now and have been travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel.
Finally made the northern warmth and the Cape and we have loved every minute of it now we are on our way home again and having many more adventures as we slowly travel south.
Spending a few extra days in Townsville now due to a cracked chassis and tow bar mount, due to get fixed this week before we can move on again.
Another day touring around Townsville, this morning I headed into the city to grab a couple of targeted caches and this afternoon MuggleWifeDoes and I headed up to the Mt Stuart Lookout.
This was my main target this morning and it was a quick easy find with some magnificent views.

This was my main objective while in Townsville this trip and I should have been here earlier today despite my promises to myself to not get diverted by other frivolous caching pursuits. [8)]
I'd tried for this one when I was last up this way almost 5 years ago without success given that I'd already qualified back then with the same bingo lines. That made me all the more determined to nab it on this trip. Once I'd found a park, I made my way up the hill and through the scrub (again) to GZ giving myself only 10 minutes (or maybe 15 ) to find it or give up for a second time. Thankfully though this time, I only needed about 10 *seconds* and I was finally signing the log at 15:20 while admiring the views and wondering where I'd gone so badly wrong back in 2018.
Now to navigate my way back to the path.
TNLNSL. Thanks (at long last ) burgo78.

Apologies for the late log here (27.12.23) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.I think the only one I don't qualify for is the 1000 QLD cache finds. But then, I've a lot more logging to do...A bimble around in the gathering dark here, made for a memorable one. The GPS gave me a good tour before I zero'd in on GZ and spotted the cache. Phew. Now back to the car in search of food down in town...TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
An afternoon PT session up Castle Hill was todays fun and with a wealth of options available I peeled off the main group who headed straight up the Goat Track, I took a sedate walk up the sealed road along with a jogging colleague who soon disappeared. Once he was gone I went bush to this cache and after a fairly easy route I found the cache easily and added my name. Then bush bashed to end up further up the road and back on track.
I fulfil all lines except the QLD bulk one, nice to earn a 5/5 too. Alas this was my only physical cache if the day after no luck at 2 other caches.
Cheers burgo78, FP again here.

With my tree fishing plans this morning having deteriorated, I had a bit of time to fill in before my event in the afternoon.Donuts had been secured in the meantime, but I still wanted to head out and grab at least one meaningful cache. This one certainly fits the bill for that criterion, and I knew I wouldn't be leaving Townsville without scoring one of the more accessible 5/5s I think I'll ever get - and on a challenge that I actually qualify for!I e-scootered from our accommodation to the back of town until I reached a hill that it was clearly not prepared to ascend at any real speed (and, had I hauled it all the way up to the top, I probably would've been coming back down at around Mach 3).From there, I got to feel the burn of heading up the hill through the back route (which was much steeper than I anticipated for some reason) in the scorching QLD sun!Certainly says a lot about the scale of the ascent that some military folk would sporadically pass by as they used the hill as fitness training!I eventually reached the part of the road up the hill which was closest to gz and discovered that 50 metres of long grass in hot weather awaited me!For any other cache, I might've bailed here, but a 5/5 will do funny things to you (plus the log from yesterday seemed to signal that there *probably* weren't any snakes about...)A stick was acquired and I bashed through some vaguely present trails to inch my way closer to gz.A fruitless search ensued for about 15 minutes where some good hiding spots were found, but none with any golden ammo cans within, and the situation wasn't aided by a bouncy GPS signal.Eventually, I expanded my radius enough to reach a previously unexplored set of rocks, and was very pleased indeed to spy a glimmer of gold through the cracks! What an absolutely gorgeous view from up here - I took some photos as well as a moment to soak it all in whilst signing the log before the trek back down the hill commenced. My qualifying bingo line comprises 500 micros, 15 events, 15 letterboxes, 50 souvenirs, and 15 D5s; where I sit in relation to the whole grid is attached as a photo on this log. Thanks to burgo78 for placing this challenge up here!

Visiting Townsville for a few days. The weather if the last couple of days meant our. Aching plans were curtailed but sunshine today means we can pick up a targeted list.
This D/T rating piqued my interest and I love bingo.
I have all squared apart from the 1000 in QLD and the different countries….but I’ll not to far away from ticking them off too.
A bit of a bush bash to GZ but the views make it worth it !

In the Townsville area with Selva Girls to pick up some solved puzzles, Challenge caches and anything else that gets in the way. We found an interesting collection of caches in some nice areas and this was one of them. Tree climbs, tree fishing and hanging off rocks, all part of the fun.

Today is about quality, not quantity. A trip up the hill for the earthcache. This one has a nice D/T, so a stop on the way down to hunt for it.
The checker says yes. I tick all the boxes except 3, and two of those are on the same row/column If my calculations are correct that still gives me bingo 8 times.

Having finally had an opportunity to review all a number of challenges I’ve collected, mostly the ones found this year in Yass, Canberra right through to Townsville. I do qualify.

Our last full day back in Townsville after a few days on Magnetic Island. We are feeling a bit lazy and tired on this windy day knowing that we are heading back to Tassie tomorrow. There are so many caches to choose from and it’s hard to decide which ones to do! We haven’t been up Castle Hill on this trip yet so we decided to head that way first.
We parked at the suggested coords then it was a matter of following the Geo trail-to the different Geo trails until the large container was found. Wow what a view! So worth the little walk in!
Yes, we do qualify for this one!

Day 10 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
The last true day of the Mega saw us heading to the CITO first then caching around the city before the Farewell Event at lunch. We arrived at the CITO around 8am to find the place deserted. Turns out all the trees had been planted and everyone has left. We came across a few other cachers and all picked up some rubbish together so we could say we made a contribution to the area. We toured around part of the Jezzine Brarracks before making our way to the event. Afterwards, we teamed up with some others to pick up some nice types and D/T’s before ending our day back to Castle Hill which was conveniently near our accommodation.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Thanks to all the CO’s.
I've now checked to see if I qualify and I do.

There’s nothing like a challenge to up the activity and energy spent in this crazy hobby.
Our personal challenge over the visit to Townsville was to find 400 caches in the Townsville and Charters Towers LGA’s for a particular challenge cache set by this same CO which is hidden around Pallarenda. We had not set out to complete the challenge, but after signing the log and seeing that we had found 200 also after a couple of days, we decided to give that challenge ago. Watch this space!
About this challenge. We meet the bingo on every line horizontally, vertically, diagonally. It’s not something we have tried to necessarily achieve, but through the fun we have with this game numbers just gradually creep up.
Happy to sign this one.
Thanks Burgo78

TheTownsville Mega Event finished but having another week in town to do more caching & sight seeing.
A morning out with the Snakepitters, back out towards the Castle Hill
Only managed 4 caches befor the rain set in.
This was on our list to do. It's been awhile since logging a 5x5.

Total Cache Finds 12744,
WOO HOO! Signed as "GTU" today.
Happy to say that I meet all but one bingo square - currently I have not cached enough in Queensland to have found 1000 caches, but I meet all other requirements.

I am so happy that I attended the Mega (and surrounding events), it was a welcomed change of scenery and I was able to embrace the fresh opportunities that awaited.
I spent time with people special to me and managed to score more cache finds than I had expected! Not having my vehicle or caching TOTTs was tricky, but I took the opportunity when it presented to utilise these from others when available.
This trip to Queensland enabled my 3rd attendance at the GPS adventure maze and attending my 13th Mega.
I had solved some of the puzzles and was helped with others, so being able to collect many of them whilst in the area was great.
Exploring Townsville and surrounds proved interesting, and I also spent plenty of time in the motel room (not planned for) - but I LOVED the air conditioning and the time to chill. Super lucky with the weather (the rain stayed away). Enjoyed lots of good food and conversations.
A fantastic time was had by all.

Log signed, great cacher trail and fantastic views. Will look at qualifications soon.
Up to Townsville with GreyHams, timed well with a Mega and Maze and a lot of quality caching in the area to keep anyone busy for longer than the time we had! Counties were our primary focus, up to Cardwell and south of Mackay... a side trip out towards charters, we covered some distance in the 5 days away but saw so much.
Day 1 saw us arrive late in the day after a stop off in cairns, out towards Charters was a lovely drive with its drier scenery before back into the mega to catch up with friends and a Trivia night.
Day 2 was our Mega and Maze day. Lots of great quality and fun ALs on site, friendly people and a visit from the Mega's Easter Bunny for my chocolate egg! Even managed a refreshing squirt from a hose on one AL much to the amusement of those watching!!! Loved the escape room experience and then off north towards Cardwell for a little caching through more iconic north Queensland scenery.
Day 3 saw us walking the length of the strand, lovely historic area, lots of caching and great scenery to enjoy. A good solid morning in the area before boarding the ferry to Palm island, after the warm walk of the morning it was great to sit in the cold aircon with lunch, a cold drink and relax out on the water.
The visit to Palm Island was a beautiful location and very pleased to have had the opportunity to experience it. A calm relaxed trip across was a far contrast to the busy and rough trip back. Into the waves led to a wild and stomach churning bounce of the ferry as it made its journey back to Townsville, yet up top in the open wind and spray it was a wild and fun time!
Day 4 saw us driving south of Mackay for a letterbox trail. More iconic Queensland scenery as we drove, love all the cane fields, lush green and huge mountain ranges. The letter box trail was worth the drive, a lovely area and well put together and we even passed other Canberra teams along the road! Mackay offered lovely beach scenery, a step back into my childhood and a little adventure... plan 'F' payed off as it often does. The little town of Calen came to our rescue were the people were friendly and and the facilities and hotel worthy of stopping.
Day 5 and our last, the journey back towards Townsville with a few stops as we cached along, the heat kicked up a notch but the cars aircon matched it well! Up to Castle Hill and then our time was done and back to the airport and the trip home... Many thanks to the CO's for your caches that led us on another very enjoyable trip.

Found by Mary and David at 08:30. We decided to make this our last find in Townsville for this visit. We checked, and yes, we fully qualify. You truly are Mr Townsville for caching - and we're glad that we got to meet you. D made his way up to GZ, where a systematic search paid off in the end. Another FP here.

Having a fun time but caching a little slower with Team Crackers and Geoturtle37 after attending the Mega. This is another challenge that I am not sure if I qualified for at the time of signing so will re-visit at a future date. Thanks for the cache and the challenge.
Having a great day out with Team Crackers and Papi4506. I love challenges so I was pleased when we all wanted to visit this one. I will check that I qualify when I catch up on some more logging. Thank you for placing this cache and setting this challenge.
After a few hectic days at the Mega and doing some higher D/T caches we had a much more relaxing day out with Geoturtle37 and Papi4506, just taking in some great scenery while also trying to pick up as many fulfilled challenges as possible along the way.
This is one that we had hoped we would be able to find as we knew that we met the challenge but we weren't sure if we would get to gz or not.
Coming up here we couldn't believe how many people were walking up and down this hill in this heat, not something we would exactly call fun.
We found ourselves a car park and headed off to gz where happily the good sized cache was found after a relatively short search and we happily added our names to the log before returning everything as it was.
Many thanks burgo78 for a great idea for a challenge and for gz at a fantastic location.

Grr, that pesky 100 day streak ruined a perfectly full bingo sheet for me, I'll never achieve that. Otherwise, I ticked the rest of the boxes and the card was looking quite colourful with all the ticks.
Out and about early this morning with Ghostgums to hit some of the caches we wanted but had not secured over the last few days of the event weekend. We came in from below, up the steps, then spotted a nice geotrail that led ut to within striking distance of the cache. [^]
The GPS was bouncy and there is a raft of geotrails around GZ, suggesting we weren't the only ones who had a little trouble tracking down the container. After 15 minutes or so, we widened the search by a few more metres and Ghostgums located the container a little further from the road that where the GPS wanted us. Pfft, that doesn't matter, it was found, we added our names to the log and picked up a very attractive D/T. Gotta be happy with that.
As we arrived back on the path, Contesta had just pulled up on hir bike and was hoping we were cachers and that what she was looking at was a path to the cache. Sure is we said, had a quick chat and left her to it.
Nice to have this one in the bag, Cheers burgo78.

MEGA Trip - day 5
Assembled the full MEGATRON crew (bella at waggy, dahumbug, tardis0061, crash2079) but today there was no specific plan other than to grab some more old school caches and a trip up Mt Louisa. Then from Mt Stuart to Castle Hill - what a random day. This 5/5 was a must-do given that we qualified. In hindsight, didn't pick the best line of approach, but as is expected, found the easier way out. Some stunning views for an excellent container and challenge = FP!

Up in Townsville for the MEGA with Sharpe m and slow puncture . All the log books were signed SSQ to save room. Our last morning in Townsville and we got up nice and early for a walk to get a few more caches. I was surprised that I did qualify for this challenge but I do like a little game of bingo now and then and I like a variety of hides. I have bingo in I, G and O and very close to N. Thanks for this fun challenge and taking us to this great place with more fantastic views. Giving this a FP for all the fun

Townsville Mega 2022. Monday. We were in the area and couldn’t pass this by! We parked the car at the suggested parking co-ords and headed in. After a checking out the amazing views (so many places in Townsville has amazing views), we signed the log with our SSQ signature and headed back to the car. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time up here and were now down to the last few caches we were able to collect before heading back home. Woohoo! We qualify too Slow Puncture (LJCC) fulfils challenge Caching Bingo Challenge (GC7JR20), according to https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7JR20/33247.
This was the 4th of 8 caches found on this outing.

Thanks ***burgo78*** for showing us this place

It’s Mega time once again!! Woo hoo!! Love these epic road trips and a wonderful Mega event. Managed to cache with loads of different people throughout the long weekend - such a fun way to cache! Have signed as SCG, X, Snag, Capital crunchers, NRC, Nibletricecakes, Minifigas, Minifig or some combination of the above! Thanks to everyone in the region for the top quality caching. Appreciate your efforts planting and maintaining these caches. Can’t wait to see if I qualify for this one!
During the Easter long weekend, it was all about the Townsville Mega event! Highlights included a hike at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Peak, walks atop the local mountains of Mount Stuart, Castle Hill, and Mount Louisa, checking out a few shady spots along Ross River, sewer pipe / tunnel adventures, and a scuba dive to see the Museum of Underwater Art at John Brewer Reef. The Mega events themselves were fantastic: Gadget lab caches, GPS maze, trivia night, tree planting CITO, and Cal's Escape Room. There was also plenty of geocaching to be had, such as power trailing through the geoarts The Saint and the Book, and the collection of challenge caches at Bushland Beach mudflats. My view of Townsville had completely changed from my trip experience, and much kudos to the Cache Qld Townsville Mega Committee.
Following our visit north of Rowes Bay which included Pallarenda, we decided to spend the rest of the morning heading up to Castle Hill, hoping to use some of the current moderate temperatures before the heat and humidity set in the afternoon (or on another day). We initially parked halfway up Castle Hill to find a few nearby puzzles and challenges.
We took a walk beside the tanks and hiking upwards along the track, only to then arrive on another section of Castle Hill Road, and follow a geotrail towards this cache. This challenge cache must have received quite the number of visitors this weekend, as the path was well trodden. We arrived at GZ to be treated by some terrific views, and the cache was subsequently found. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. We decided to sign the geocache as DWEG1 (Davidwazza and e.gregory1) to save space in the logbook. It also looks like we're not this challenge's first visitors today! Thanks burgo78 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.
It looks like I have a **Bingo Blackout**, as I have completed all 25 squares!

Today was our day for Castle Hill, and we had the good fortune to be joined by a few friends for most of today’s targets. I was happy to claim 24 of the 25 bingo boxes but the Bingo Blackout eludes me as I’ll never have a 100 day caching streak. We’d carpooled up here due to the parking available, and followed our GPSrs and the trails to the lovely GZ, where it didn’t take long to find the cache in good condition.
Found while exploring lovely Townsville and surrounds during the CacheQld Townsville Mega, with DisSister and Dragonsky. TFTC, burgo78. =^.^=

Found while in Townsville to attend the Mega event.
I travelled up from Adelaide, taking a week or so so get here, meeting up with FeatherWaite to do some caching around the Cunnamulla area then continuing on to Barcaldine and Charters Towers.
While in Townsville I teamed up with Budgietas, Stainless-steel-rat and Gooseandegg on some days, including a day on Magnetic Island, and with Davidwazza at other times. When caching with Davidwazza, logbooks were signed DWEG1.
All in all it was a great week or so in Townsville, with plenty of great caches found.
The checker at Project-GC confirms that I qualify for this challenge.
Thanks burgo78 for the challenge and the cache.

After the CITO this morning, a small convoy of vehicles are attacking caches on Castle Hill before heading back to MEGA for Farewell Event.
Found a small parking area for the cars then made our way to the cache. Cache was located, logbook signed then returned as found. What an interesting Challenge.
patrol14 fulfills challenge Caching Bingo Challenge (GC7JR20) according to https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7JR20/33247
Achieved all but one square (100 day streak) which I am chuffed about. Might have to work towards that one maybe.

Day 4 in Townsville for the Mega. We got lucky and picked the right day, weather wise, to be up exploring Castle Hill. We joined a great group of cachers and made the various climbs up and down, over and under to hunt down all the nearby caches and this was one of them. Having heard of a convenient yet small parking space, we decided to carpool up the hill. On arrival, we headed up the geotrail and spread out for a short hunt once we got to GZ. Pleased to see the green tick of approval with one single line. Phew. Thanks burgo78
27,787. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.
Day 10 of our Townsville Trek, and we were having a ball caching around Townsville ! Today was another big day. After the morning's CITO, we got stuck into finding more caches. A lot were pre-solved puzzles, a couple of interesting Earthcaches, and some fun / difficult Trads along the way. This one was another challenging cache found by the Canberra Region cachers and one of my favourite caches found this Mega. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on our list.
Thanks burgo78 !! Now I'm home I tick off every box in the Bingo Chart. Fav Point.

Reminds me of all the bingo cards that are filled out during numerous mega, and even local events I have been too! Great to have a physical challenge for it too! I think there is an almost identical one back home!
sebass19 was very excited to find this cache, it would be his first 5/5! Congrats!
We managed to sneak our car into the 1 car parking space near the cache, glad nobody else was there as this is the only convenient parking unless you want to take a hike!
Happy to qualify for every single bingo grid except for ONE. That is the 1,000 caches in QLD. Well I do live in ACT, and have never caught a plane to QLD before, so everything I have done has been after a long roadtrip. Checker is saying 580 caches in QLD so far, but I still have over 100 to log.... so probably over 700 after this trip! [:o]

Day 13 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event!
**Found with sebass19**
Another full day of caching, this time we focused around central Townsville itself, including the Strand, Castle Hill and Townsville South. We started the day off with the CITO at Rowes Bay, but only 30 minutes into the starting time the trees were already planted, so that was a shorter event than expected.
We cached into the darkness once more until we had done another "loop" of everything on the must-do list and ended up back near our accomodation!

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 10. Townsville Mega section Day 10. Mega Day 3. On the final day of the official mega period, the day started with Gliss!, Nibletricecakes, Smitten Granny & I headed over to the ROWES bay CITO where we managed to get one of the last plants and deploy it on the sand dune. Then it was off caching along the coastal stretch to the point with more World War 2 bunkers. This all took a bit longer than expected, but we eventually had a chance to do the walk around Jezzenine barracks before heading to Anderson Gardens for a tree climb and back to the mega site for the farewell event. Then there was a canoe trip and few more trees, A trip up Castle hill and a few puzzles before calling it a day.

Day 12 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today all about the caches around town.
After the CITO was over we did a few caches near our hotel in Aitkenvale and drove out in ever increasing circles finding a cache as we went. At 1200 it was time to head back to the mega site for the farewell event.
Once all the goodbyes were said we headed around town for a few more hours to grab a few more of the puzzles and other caches we wanted. A couple of harder hides, a couple of kayak caches and of course a few tree climbs.
Many thanks again to the CO's or all caches...and hope you've enjoy reading all the logs...cut n past and individual ones.

Day twelve of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Spent the morning collecting caches close to our accommodation then working our way towards the racecourse for the Farewell event. After the event we set off for more caches, including a couple of waterborne caches with the Southern Caching Group (SCG). Our main group for the afternoon comprised myself and Sdl, fitzy_1965, minniek, smittengranny, albida33, nibletricecackes and Gliss! with others in tow for the kayak caches. Logs were variously signed with initials, or SCG, depending on the numbers in attendance for the find. One of several found on and around Castle Hill this afternoon. Apologies for the largely generic logs.

After the Rowes Bay CITO this morning we’ve managed to create a small convoy without even really trying…
This challenge was on everyone’s list… The Tasmanians have already been here, so armed with a little intel, we piled into two cars and the Habanero Sport led the way… once stopped though, that’s where my leadership ceased as I was heading up the road before being called back to the geotrail…
We fanned out at GZ and it was DisSisterrr who finally called “found it”… Waaadda Mooli…
After making our mark, we were back to the cars and up to Castle Hill…
I was surprised I managed to qualify here… and this is only my fourth 5/5 cache ever…
Tftc… log signed Tour de Ville…. ??????

Day 9 of our Mega adventure. After the CITO and a few other target caches, it was time to head to castle hill with Tour de Ville, DisSister and La Kedi. We’d driven around it throughout the weekend but now it was time to go up.
This cache was on everyone’s list, not only is it a good challenge but the final location was great as well! We made our way through the scrub, following a geotrail, looks like a few people have been here this weekend.
It was disSister that did the honours and found the hidey hole. We enjoyed the view and could see places that we’ve already cached at this weekend. Happy to have another 5/5 on the list, adding a FP. Tftc

I identified my qualification prior to this trip. Early this morning, I parked at the parking co-ords and legged it to GZ where the geotrail made it easy….I was wary of snakes. I found the cache and really enjoyed the views. Thanks burgo78, ripper challenge where I qualified in every square except 1000 traditional finds in Queensland. Looks like I will need another trip or two to the Sunshine State!

Here in town for the Townsville mega event this weekend, and put this cache on my list to grab this morning. Didn’t expect so many people running/walking up and down the road, and dodging them became a skill in itself by the time I drove to the top. Headed back down to GZ by foot, and once there, the cache was located, giving some awesome views to boot. Managed to tick off all of the bingo game board except two.

A great challenge to qualify for - achieved the line but missed 100% of the card by 1 square - the 100day streak - maybe something to aim for!

Day eight of the big Brisbane to Townsville trip for me. After seven days on the road getting up here and then driving about via many exciting geocaches, it is the day of the [Mega Event](https://coord.info/GC9BVWD)! This morning my travelling party left to drive home, and I have 24 hours on my own. Little did I know how massive the day would turn out to be.
After doing plenty at the showgrounds until the middle of the day, Big Matt and I decided to head out. Earlier, we'd met up and while neither of us had plans, one of us had a hire car. Time to be friends! I commented that I'd not yet been up Castle Hill. A bit rude of me for such an icon of the city. So that seemed like a fun place to go, to have a drive and a look about. And of course find some geocaches too.
On our way back down from checking out the excellent views, Matt identified this challenge and suggested we grab it. He qualified and it was likely I did too. Approaching it turned out to be interesting, but parking below the track was found. Near what seemed like some to-be-built-on-someday blocks of land.
It's hot out and a sweaty walk up the track and stairs and then into the bush. We would spend a few minutes walking in circles, chasing GZ and poking about the place before Matt found the ammo box in a retrospectively obvious area. Ah, working for that D5!
Sure enough, I do qualify. The joy of just a wide variety of inds of many thousands of geocaches and plenty of years - a line is bound to happen in a bingo challenge. Ticking all but 2 boxes, and missing both of those by a wide margin; my longest streak is 31, and I've only geocached in a single country. So the logbook was signed at 13:50 and we could head back down to the car and it's glorious air-con. Thanks for this challenge, burgo78

A nice hot wander up here today, Captain Terror was good enough to wait for me! It took a while to locate the container but we quickly signed it and headed back to the car. Nice views but not as impressive as the top of the hill.
I manage to get all of the rows completed.
Thanks burgo78 for the cache.

Up in Townsville from CBR for the Mega with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and ZQX and thousands of other CBR cachers! So many interesting caches to find while in the area, we will sadly not be able to get to all of them. But happy to get some warmth and sunshine while out and about, which has been sadly lacking in the ACT this summer. This was also a chance to use up some flight credits from a cancelled trip to the USA in August 2020 before they expired.
Today: the plan is to grab a few caches on and around Castle Hill in the morning and head to the Mega and Maze in the afternoon. Who know what the day holds!
This cache: like a good game of bingo, well, actually I have never played except for the geocaching challenge type. I may or may not have modelled a challenge I put out in CBR on this one! Cache easily found.

This cache: like a good game of bingo, well, actually I have never played except for the geocaching challenge type. I may or may not have modelled a challenge I put out in CBR on this one! Cache easily found.
Qualification: AngelG27](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=AngelG27) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7JR20/33247 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.
OK: BINGO
Thanks burgo78 for the cache and the fun!

There are only two squares couldn't fill but that still left me many completed lines so I call BINGO!
A sneaky park for this one after a somehow lucky escape from a deep drain (the vehicle not us).
A great challenge and a great container to match.
Fantastic, thanks burgo78
A ten day mega trip was arranged with Stainless steel rat and Budgietas. We flew into Cairns and out of Mackay, with the majority of the time in and around Townsville. We found a huge variety of caches and although our find count was a little lower than we would have liked, some of the high D/T caches more than made up for that. I really appreciate the effort of the local COs and all the people involved in hosting the mega and associated activities. I enjoyed catching up with many of our caching buddies, and make some new ones too!
Thanks for a great mega trip!

Friday was our 6th day in Queensland and today the main target was the Saint Series of puzzles, we also fitted in a few other caches at the start and end of the day.
This was my first Mega trip in a while now, I had planned to go to the last one in Wangaratta but concerns about COVID made me pull out at the last minute. For this one it was a trip with BudgieTas and GooseandEgg landing in Cairns on the Sunday where we collected a few caches in the dark before driving down to Townsville on the Monday collecting a select few caches along our very indirect route.
While in the Townsville we made the best of our time collecting a few series of caches and searching for some of the older caches on offer, some with lots of favourite points or something we thought maybe a bit different, along with all that we got to go to all the Mega events and meet up with cachers old and new, spending Thursday with Greg going round Magnetic Island and a bit of time with the Davinells who went out of their way to welcome the Tasmanians to Queensland.
All to soon it came to an end and we drove down to Mackay on the Monday again collecting caches along the way before flying home on the Tuesday Morning.
Thanks for the warm (sometimes too hot) welcome Queensland until next time!
Thanks for the cache.

This cache was found as part of a trip with GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to Far North Queensland for the Townsville Mega. The trip started in Cairns and ended in Mackay, and allowed us to find some ripper caches inbetween.
We managed to complete some of the Breaking Bad cache series until we driven back to the car due to the heat, and the Saint and most of the book series. There were some good variety in both these series which kept them interesting.
One of the highlights (although a low light when removing the mud) was the walk on the salt flats outside Townsville to get the challenge caches
Another highlight was Magnetic island, where other than some great views, we managed to spot two koala's in the wild.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache that was part of our trip

In town for the mega, using caching as a guide to show us the best of what the region has to offer.
A challenge, a sexy DT, and an awesome view. What more does one need? 2 more countries it seems, as that is all I would need to get a bingo blackout !
Find #12309 @ 09:09
Thanks burgo78 for giving us a reason to visit.

Day 7 of our Mega road trip. Today’s adventure was a trip to Maggie Island…but I also needed to find this cache today because it helped with another challenge ??…I can blame the one who logged before me ??. Parked at the parking coords and went off to find myself a cache. Geotrails all over the place around GZ but I still couldn’t find it. I suck caching by myself. Texted Me E to come on up and annoyingly (but thankfully) he walked straight to it!! ?? I just scrape through with one line (the fourth row) but that’s all I need to get the green tick!!!

We decided to take a drive over to Castle Hill today and take a hike up the trails. Prior to leaving our caravan we ran a Project GC checker and found we qualified to claim this geocache.
Ian clambered up through the bushes to find a group of geocachers already searching, they had been at GZ for a while without luck so things didn’t look good. Luckily Ian spotted the cache, log book signed and everyone departed happy. Great to meet everyone on the trail.
Thanks
