I have been working further out in the sounds this week and today is my day off. So a loop of Moetapu bay it is. This was number 3 along the way, huffing and puffing all the way.
Out with a group of locals climbing to the top to celebrate summer. for us it'll be the last time as we are moving out of the district. good to clear these caches.
This is my second walk of the day... already feeling a bit tired - so I know this hill (Mountain) is going to feel tough. Phone is at 30% so I was hoping to be able to get all 4 on this track before it goes black.... Arrived at GZ and put the phone down - used my nose to lead me to the right spot and I was correct.

Been a while since up here, enjoyed coming back.
My GPS wanted me down there...nah. So carried on with a plan to search on the way back after it settled. But, about 90m on, saw a likely cache zone based on the description, and there it was.
Thanks taybeedragon

Hooned up the hill way too fast. I wish I had noted what time I started - how long it took to get here. By the time I got here I had quite severe difficulty seeing - sweat just pouring in my eyes. I wipe them clear and I can see again. For like 15 seconds, before they are stinging with a new bout of sweat pouring in.Made the last little bit quite difficult. As if the bits of gorse trying to take over the track and scraping my legs wasn't enough!
So it was nice to take an enforced break and find a cache here. Quickly found at the obvious place. Dropped in an emerald. Nice to meet you, Kora.

Found with NZDi. With only two days left of my Labour/Marlborough Anniversary break left, and today being the only one with a decent weather forecast, we decided to go on a geocaching mission. There are not many patches of Marlborough left for me to turn into smileys, but the Moetapu/Mt Cawte area was one that was a sea of green. So today it was our mission to turn it yellow.
Last night I ran a Pocket Query on the area, did some research, asked a previous finder the finer details of a tricky looking multi and prepared a few caches to replace some that have been DNF'd recently, as well as place one of my own should the occasion arise. It seems I didn't prepare enough unfortunately.
This morning I did a quick trip to the supermarket to get enough food to sustain us through our adventure and then we were in the geomobile making our way in this direction.
After starting the day with a find on the Kenepuru Road, we turned onto the Moetapu Bay Road for the main course.
The company I work for owns a holiday home in the Kenepuru Sound and for the past 25 or so years we have managed to holiday in the area, but this is the first time I've ventured down this road.
Given how long others have said it took them to get here, all those walks in the Wither Hills we have been doing lately, must be paying off as it only took us 40 minutes to get here. The cache was an easy find as it was out in the open a metre and a half from where it was supposed to be. It looks like some critter has taken a liken to it. After the paperwork was completed ,we returned it a little more securely (we hope).

Today I headed off for a drive in the Sounds to try and make some progress towards revealing the final Hidden Creature. This cache was #35 of the 50 that I need to find to uncover the World Turtle. After a looong drive out, I was on my way back with just enough time for a detour to the track leading to these caches. Found this as per the FTF coordinates, not the published ones which need updating. TFTC, Biggles.
Auch hier bin ich auf meiner Neuseelandrundreise lang gekommen und ich danke allen Owner für Ihre Mühe.
Last time I was up this hill was New Years Day 2017, but today I am back with Capperz to knock over a couple of new caches up here. It all came back to me on the way up. This is a track that doesn’t muck around and allow yourself to ease into the climb. But that can be a good thing to. It was a nice walk although a little slippery in spots due to the recent rain. We reached the required elevation after a couple of breathers and in good time, then it was a traverse across the top for the cache. I found the coords taken by Sidewaze and Isis to be pretty much spot on. +/- 5 metres or so, which will get you to the obvious feature. All good here, toyed with dropping a TB but decided against. TFTC, I recommend updating the coords though.
Needs co-ordinates updated please. Use the FTFers ones as they are accurate.
With sparse pickings in the direct Blenheim area I cast gaze a little further afield and spotted these couple of recent placements. I've been Cawte up to the top before but with a spare Sunday morning and the good company of the return of the gallavanting r.nz. leaving Blenners at around 0730 he soon arrived at the parking spot at the bottom and headed up. Some heavy rain overnight had left the clay path a little slippery in places but caution and care were the call and no serious spills today.
45 minutes to the first cache, an hour to the second, and 40 minutes back down again and a quick look for the lost G P S of Isis (sorry, nothing found). Great weather and gorgeous scenery in places on the path and at the top.
Used the alternative co-ordinates to make the find at the base of the obvious and prime choice of beech tree. All good and replaced as found.

Strangely enough I had forgotten just what this track was like - until I saw the steps at the bottom and then it all came back! A much nicer day for the track than last time which made for better views. The bird life and song was amazing today. Had a thorough search at a place that seemed highly possible slowly disregarding every hint item twice. Found the cache sitting waiting for us 100 metres away. The readings we both took when we found it were quite a bit different and again on the way back so its pretty flakey in there. I knew I wasn't as fit as usual but will be a bit better today after our step exercise thanks taybeedragon. Shared {FTF} with Sidewaze. TFTC # 12,272
It's almost a year since we climbed this little hill. Some more caches now so it's time for another ascent. This really is a lovely piece of bush - - - lots of different plants to study and piwakawaka and makomako to accompany us on our journey. We didn't recognise the first sounds we heard from a bellbird but then realised it was one very angry bellbird warning of our presence.
It took us a while to hunt this one down but finally located it under a tree that we could verify was a member of the beech family though we're not so certain which one. Took an alternative reading which might or might not assist those who follow:
S41 16.130 E173 50.208. Joint FTF with Isis58. Thanks for the cache .
