Logs
Found during the Mega event in Canberra over the Easter long weekend. Our team comprised courtneyrose_, Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, Freddo, gridge98 and Team Waldron, signing the logs as ABP to save time, and space in the logbooks, or with our individual caching names. Enjoyed a great weekend away finding a rewarding range of cache types, d/t combinations, cache hides and retrievals. Thanks for the cache cosmonaut97!
Found this during a fantastic weekend away at the Canberra Mega, with gridge98, Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite. The log books were either signed with the name ABP or our individual caching names. Was an excellent Mega, grateful to be part of it!
I found this cache on a trip from Adelaide to attend the Capital GeoBash Mega event in Canberra over Easter.Today I teamed up with FeatherWaite, Team Waldron, gridge98, CourtneyRose and Davidwazza. Logs were signed ABP to save time and space on the logsheets. It was a productive day, focusing mainly on caches of interest, with a variety of cache types. The weather was fine and quite warm, in contrast to some of the other times Ive been in Canberra over Easter. Thanks cosmonaut97 for the cache.
Found on our journey over the week here. This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Courtneyrose_ Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite as part of our team called: ABP (Alphabet People), the log books were either signed with the name, ABP or our individual caching names.A great weekend away in the capital and a very well organised mega, it was nice to be back in the ACT caching once again over easter with great weather. Thanks for the cache
We found the cache this time. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. I needed to be in Queanbeyan for a meeting next Saturday so I came early in order to get a few caches. This was on my to do list and a quick find was made.
I got no idea why buckoraider decided to bring me here at night time.
I was so scared that my geo senses were so high! I found the cache in no time
Maybe it’s a good strategy for fast finds. Stay on edge

#705 After making our way out of the bushland section of the cemetery, the dirty dogs headed towards this trad. We soon realised we were on the wrong side of the fence and all hoped over. I was looking in all the wrong places so luckily we had a few sets of eyes searching tonight, a quick find by the others here. Added our names to the log and returned to its hiding place. Thanks Cosmonaut97 for the hide
#2609 We were just on the wrong side of the fence for this one, so found a spot to hop over and found the cache after a short search. Names logged and replaced. Thanks cosmonaut97 for the cache.
Caching in Queanbeyan at night? Sounds like a job for the 'Dirty Dogs'!
After a stroll out for a night cache decided to come and find a few more. Thanks for the fun!

Found this quite easily as it was in the open. We didn’t have a pen to sign the log so will come back and do this.
Out and about on a solo run out this way and decided to stop of for the caches here at the cemetery. No issues here and the cache was soon spotted. Not sure if the hint still applies, however it all depends on your point of view. New log was signed, cache returned to it's hiding spot and it was off to the next one.
Thanks cosmonaut97....hope all is going well.

I had a thorough search for this cache in the light rain today. Looked all the nearby trees over and checked out previous logs and photos. Contacted the CO and got approval to replace the container.
Thanks for hiding and maintaining this cache cosmonaut97

Not today need to search better under cool weather it’s so hot to keep searching, I’ll be back
Back today in the area for a service and with some more time on my hands and decent weather I took the time to walk and explore a bit more.
A stop at this cemetory which was new for me and a quick find here at the entrance, all in good order.
Thank you cosmonaut97 for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Shopping with a GeoPartner late morning out Fyshwick way so we decided to drop in on Queanbeyan land for some brisk walking and a cache or two.
GeoPartner absolutely wanted to see this cemetery today so how could I say NO to her? I too had been dying to visit this location and we were not disappointed. Beautiful gardens, in particular we loved the bushland cemetery in which we found most of the caches. Quick and easy find. TFTC cosmonaut97

Found with Aussiepuschaks, a reached at the wrong tree as both of our gps’ were off by about 5 meters, only Switches tree after noticing the shade of tree and the angle were wrong for the tree we were looking at in a photo further down TFTC
I snooped around in the Wong tree for a while before quickly finding it in the right tree tftc
Easy find at GZ, spotted by the youngest Geokid almost instantly. Thanks for the cache!
Got breath tested on the way here; luckily I'd only had a Coke Zero with dinner.
Found the geocache quite quickly by chance, happened to catch a flash of colour out of the corner of my eye.
Beautiful area. Thanks for bringing me here.

Found with geocaching buddy. Log sheet almost full. Lost my pen and my pencil would not write on waterproof paper. TFTH
Found it but wasn’t able to log to log book due to it having a max texture but I did take a photo
Was doing some tidy up and plugged in the GPS for the first time in a bit. I felt there was cache I had found but forgotten to log, and was surprised to find that actually there were several from ages ago! Thankfully not that long ago that I had forgotten the place though. I had gone out for a short walk with Takibi on a lovely afternoon in a quiet and peaceful spot.
My last day in Canberra for this trip and since the only thing planned for today was visiting friends plus joining them for lunch and heading home, I decided on getting a few more smileys. For the third time, I headed to starting point of the WIG around the lake to collect ‘The Cyclist’ cache. Starting at 5am meant next to no traffic or heat but it was still hard going but definitely easier than ‘The Manic’ on Friday. This time I had enough time to have a brake at about the ½ mark. No trouble with the cartridge today. Then it was time to head back to where I was staying and pack my bag. I picked up a couple of quick finds on my way to meet up with my friends. After that it was time to head home but with a detour to collect a couple of lone caches around Yass that I hadn’t found yet. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found, for allowing them to bring joy to me and to the rest of the caching community. TFTC’s
After dropping the young fella off at HMAS Harman for his first Army Cadet activity I had some time to kill so why not cache. A quick find today on a rainy morning. TFTC
Love this cemetery. Never seen one quite like this before.
This cache gets a favourite from me.
This is really a bushland cemetery, see picture.

Christmas 2019 break day 17. I had a day to spend in Queanbeyan, so I did not target easy ones, just the ones I was near. After my walk in the bush, this was a re-visit. GZ still gave me two options to search. On the second one I saw something I had missed last time I was here, and was very happy to sign the log to clear a DNF off my list.
Thanks.

Headed down to Captains Flat with fitzy_1965 for a pre-Christmas lunch.
We had an impromptu stay with Smittengranny & TG47. Woke up to a gorgeous view and a lovely breakfast before heading off for the day.
After leaving Captains Flat, we decided to head over to Tidbinbilla for some newer caches out that way. Whilst driving through Queanbeyan, we couldn't go past these.
Quick find here today.

OZ Mega 2019. Clear Waters Queanbeyan. Day 11. Well, the week and a bit out at Queanbeyan has come to an end. I went out to grab a few caches before heading home with the van. I spent way too long examining several trees in way too much detail. This one escaped me, I hope it is still hiding there somewhere.
Thanks.

There are much better examples of waterproof paper than then this shiny springy example in this cache
In town for the Clear Waters Mega, I was mostly targeting only caches that assisted or completed challenges I was chasing but when this traditional popped up on the screen as I was heading back to the showground, had to stop in and “visit” relatives resting nearby.
Finally the Mega is here in Queanbeyan. Today Lady Morris intended to spend some time at the Mega doing the lab caches and trads while Mr Morris visited his mother in Canberra. In the morning we wandered a bit further afield and collected a few more of the local offerings.
This took a bit of hunting but eventually we were at just the right angle to spot it in its hiding spot.
Thanks for contributing to the fun cosmonaut97

Day 3 of the Clear Waters Mega trip with GeoSon NationalSteel. This morning we tackled the lab caches around the showground and then headed out to Canberra for more caches
Well, what a cache. I really don't think we would have found this in full daylight. The light was fading when we arrived so a torch was used. I'll say no more, but this was one of the best camouflaged tree caches I've seen and it is well worth a favourite point.
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log using the initials GT/NS and replaced the container as found
Thanks cosmonaut97 for the cache.

Like some other finders it was a little shiny glint by torchlight that helped us locate this one. Thanks for the hide.
Very sneaky. Especially in the fading light. But I'm not sure if I would have found it during the day, the torch seemed to help. Unfortunately our pen would not write on the shiny log paper so I took a photo to verify the find for Gill&Tony and me. TFTC!
