Quest recycled this cash has alluded me for many years I should be putting up at least three DNFs if not four. After a very pleasant cycle along the coastal cycle track it was time to stop and have a break after searching high and low and scratching my head for a long time I finally managed to discover this cash well hidden, its a relief to finally find it but was a little embarrassment that I didnt find it the first time I looked many years ago TFTC
General: nice long ride along the Great Taste Trail and Rabbit Island today! Quite windy but also very sunny so we won't complain. Checked some caches left and right along the trail, such a fun combo of riding and caching, thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining!
Specific: Fun one! I knew it still had to be there so I took my time to check everything and eventually spotted the well hidden container, such a nice fit in there. Tftc!

Took us awhile to find. Looked through the old logs and then went back to the first spot we were looking and found it.
With a recent DNF I did a quick ride out to do a check. No issues and cache right where it always is and ready to be found.
Another day, another try... Probably the D1.5 I have revisited the most so far! Plus the heavens opened, but luckily we were prepared with a car at both ends of the planned walk.
With a recent DNF did a quick cycle out here to do a check. All still safe and sound and ready to be found.
Spent a solid 30 mins here, yet couldn’t find it. I’m still new, so I maybe I just missed it. Great fun to look though (:
I went at it thinking I knew what to look for and where it would be. Wrong! Got there in the end. TY.
found with kjj162. we have been here looking for this one before with no luck then but today was a fairly quick find after reading a few old logs tftc
Found on 19/06/22 but forgot to post online. We got pretty frustrated with this one, but only after (unnecessarily) getting our hands/knees wet & dirty, overturning rocks & poking around the overgrown grass. Cars and bikes passing by would have seen us looking hella sus, lol. It’s always when you just about give up that the cache reveals itself, and that wonderful happy feeling of natural dopamine ebbs through your body as you sign the log…even better when it’s clean & dry. Thanks for the cache.
After a fair bit of brain scratching, there it was. Don't know why it wasn't any easier to find, but there ya have it.
I had one of those mental blocks in trying to find this one. I wasn't helped by a GPSr that took me to many different 0m spots. I have been to this location so many times, that the post office delivers my mail here.
I finally got a white cane hint from a PF and two visits later, I found the cache. TFTC.

Excellent hide, great spot Johnthestrong! Took longer than expected as the phone seemed to be having full-neuro-transmitter-shutdown, but got there in the end. Nice!

A nice quick find here before heading off on a walk. The logsheet is pretty chocka. TFTC
Thankfully our eyes worked, and finally found the sneaky hide.

#1516. Day 7 of a 9 day caching holiday in the Tasman region with GB Leader. Back over the Takaka Hill, stopping in Nelson briefly, then on to our accommodation in Picton.
GB Leader spotted this from afar as I clambered down the bank.
Tftc Johnthestrong. Nice to meet you again last Saturday. Greetings from Wellington!

Nosynel, Graciesgpsfun, Ethness and I are caching the top of the south. Today we are hanging around Richmond. Signed as GENJ. With our four pairs of eyes we spotted it. Cunning little hide. Thanks.
Good recycling. Took a wee bit to locate. Signed GENJ. TFTC.
The holidays are here and the second half of the ‘Very Top of the South Tour’ begins. GraciesGPSFun and I have been joined by NosyNel and Jude_E and so the fun begin begins.

Third find for today for TEF. After Mr and Mrs TEF took an e-bike adventure yesterday we thought we’d bring the cachelettes back to retrieve some caches in this area.
An easy find for Mr TEF who is slightly taller and has a better eye than the rest of us.

On a 3 week geocaching trip with woolwood9.
Very nice find for us here.

Thanks for the reason to visit this location and for the cache!

Took me no time at all this time round. I remember the original Quest cache very well. Thanks johnthestrong!!
I looked for this one every time I was on a bike ride and passing here. Never found it but kept looking, I spent far to much time at a place that looked a bit like a cache construction, but it wasn't. One day I spotted the little blinker (seems like it was red one day, now it's silver) but didn't had a pen.
After that when passing again, I was even spotting the cache from my bike just passing! As with all these caches, once you know where it is, it's easy..
Anyway, so often I passed with the bike and never signed, it was ok just to know where it is. Today after finding a puzzle final on Best Island, I passed with the car and decided to stop and sign.

One of 10 caches located this morning on a cycle ride part of the way to Rabbit Island. Turned around half-way there, at this point to be exact, mostly because the weather was totally unappealing and threatening to rain! We then drove to Rabbit Island in the afternoon and biked around, picking up more caches there.
Didn’t take too long to find this one, partly thanks to one of the earlier logs. It did have the potential to be a very difficult one to locate! #3071. TFTC.

We had found the original here but only vaguely remembered where it was -so it took longer then it should have !!! Still a fairly quick park and grab - great idea recycling the cache A second smiley too - thanks for the cache
Having finished our jobs in town we took a slow cruise home revisiting previous caching areas. Well it seams others have done this too so after re finding this cache we get a second smiley TFTC
This took me a long time, but I was determined to get it. Kept getting distracted by a possibility that I knew was wrong, but couldn't leave alone.
Eventually stopped to think about likely hiding spots and finally had it in hand.

Too cute! Snug fit. Looked past it several times. Great fun as the youngest got her first find of the day.
In town on a wee family summers holiday visiting family. Grew up in Richmond - gosh the years have changed it! Out this evening to find a few caches as I've been a bit lacking.
Last cache of the evening. A relatively quick find and sign. Cheers.

After an extensive excursion on Bell island this was voted a definite stop-off on the way home and proved to be a realively quick park and grab. TFTC
Tricky but we persevered and checked some of the previous logs. Looked from a different angle and voila! There it was. This is a very special spot for me as my uncle was Roy Sowman, famous for his Bach that was here. I have fond memories as a kid staying and playing here.
We were too late on the scene to get many of the Quest caches, so in the end have probably only found two or three. Good to see other COs using their old spots though.
We got this on the exit from Best Island. I think it must have helped that we had done it in that order as Jo walked straight up to it. Very quick find, and all good. TFTC Johnthestrong.
Another warm day so Jo and I planned a trip across the hill, just for a bit of therapy and a change of scene really. Jo hasn’t had a lot of time off over the holiday period.
So we set some goals.
Lunch at Devilles, a swim at Rabbit Island, and a pint at the free house before heading home. Some of those are usual haunts, others not, but the weather dictates these things. Those were all achieved and a few caches along the way. Cachewise the goals were walking to the centre of NZ; then Best, Rough and Rabbit Island. A few others in the vicinity. Anything park and grab or within short walking distance. Didn’t pack the bikes, they will be coming another day.
Thanks to the Nelson COs. We haven’t been here much in 2018. Will aim to get over more in 2019. Had fun and all caches in good shape.

Out with No.13 to check some of her caches and for me to find a few. This one took absolutely ages and think co-ords are a bit out. Finally located just as starting to spit. TFTC
This one was a challenge but found with UlmusLynx just as it was starting to rain.
Thank you johhnthestrong for the cache.
Thank you johhnthestrong for the cache.
I never completed the quest but just so happened to have found two this week. Good to see caches being recycled.
#16044. The Quest series was a priority when we moved to Richmond in May 2014 (The Quest CO had already left the area and entropy was taking its toll on the series). We were pleased to complete the series before the end of the year. Finding this cache was a nice reminder of our Quest. I often struggle to remember hides, but had no trouble remembering where to look for this one. Thanks for recycling it!
Found with StreetWalker on day one of our long weekend visit to Nelson.
We managed to squeeze the car into a nearby spot on the corner, and I went galloping off down the trail. Didn't get far as I realised SW wasn't accompanying me, instead he was finding the cache which was very close to the car. Perhaps I should have looked at my GPr?

I had been out to try and find this cache a couple of time when the Beltfamily owned it with no luck. Paddle chick and I were out caching this afternoon but it was getting dark by time we reached this cache with the help of a torch I found straight away.

New log in place. Waterproof paper so hopefully will not deteriorate as fast.
Out Geocaching with Buller-Trout for a day of adventure, nice to be out in the country thank Johnthestrong for the placement
The Seagnoid, Toby and I are off to Nelson to hopefully find some hidden creatures along our way. Im looking for the elusive dragon. Its an early start out of Blenheim just after 6am. Weather forecast is for rain this afternoon so the earlier the better. Its a bike ride along the estuary so Jack and Jill have come along for the ride.
The Search was on here before finally snagging this elusive one. Needs new log here. Its getting very frail. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I are in Nelson taking some stress off a later trip to Christchurch to hunt for an elusive turtle. I thought this section of the cycle way might be a could place to find the dragon that hopefully will give us some tips to finding that turtle.
Funny as just when I think I know where the cache might be and I am checking somewhere that the dragon finds it is=n exactly the same location elsewhere. Darn it!
A new fence has been installed along the cycleway near here - and it has all fallen down. Why that high a fence? Surely not going to have deer here? Log needs replacing - it is like tissue paper.

Another evening walk...Mr geco joined me and we did some coastal walk to grab caches as we went. Last one of the night and light was fading...searched a few places before finding the right spot. Tftc
When this one was published I immediately remembered where it would be - - in fact as I walked towards GZ I remembered precisely where the original had been, and sure enough, that's where the "replacement" was. Very cool . TFTC .
Well I made that a lot harder than it should have been. Reading back on my log from the Quest 19, 5 years and over 6000 caches ago when I found it quickly. Today I couldn't remember where it was last time, I looked in the logical places and must have looked straight at it more than once but didn't see it. I was getting to the point of giving up when it finally caught my eye. TFTC Johnthestrong

Came looking for this caches predecessor here and never made the find, despite it clearly being here to be recycled. Parked down the way and was approached by 3 different cyclists seeking the Rabbit Island route by cycle-trail (seems my car was obscuring the sign!). After approaching from an aquatic direction I spotted the cache, which was probably where it was in it's previous guise too! T F T C, J t s.
A new month beckons the geocaching world, and time marches on. Have had fairly slim pickings this year which has left my found total, stuttering towards 8000 finds, without actually getting there. I decided that a trip 'over the hill' was in order, no shopping to get in the way, and a few second visits required after waaaay too many DNFs last time over this way. We dropped off daughter at work at 10am with a plan to pick her up at 6PM as she finished her shift, and headed straight off. The new stretch of road up from Rai Valley at the Rai saddle was open in one direction and the removal of those couple of corners should hopefully make it a safer journey.
I had plans for both Easy Peasy, and Lemon Squeezy as well as a few other solved puzzles and some traditionals too. All up was a pleasing 14 caches, enough to get me close enough before a planned trip out again tomorrow to get a couple more.

Had an idea what we were looking for so we each took a zone and SJT_NZ discovered the hide, great recycle, TFTC
Found with TregearP. All in good order. Signed log and placed as found. Thanks for the cache Johnthestrong.
After a DNF a few days ago I popped out to check. No issues and still hidden in its correct spot ready to be found.
Nice day for a bike ride but not a good day for smileys - this contributed to our 60% failure rate today!
Came along to this cache after being muggled out at another. I clearly remember finding the Quest cache here so didn't need the GPS either however I was very surprised at the cache and how faded it had become over time - it would've been a lot more obvious when it was bright sparkly red. I am using a GPS generously loaned to me from another local cacher after losing mine so it was a bit funny when I loaded the visits from today to find I had 3527 finds in my drafts! Wow wouldn't that be good but unfortunately only 5 are mine - 3 from today, 1 from a few days ago and another earthcache that I still have to complete the measuring, counting and calculations. Oh well dreams are free! TFTC # 12,280
This recycled cache brings back very fond memories of the original series. We were a bit late to get underway with the Quest, but it certainly became addictive as we progressed through the levels. Only vague memories of this one - which became clearer as we neared GZ. Sobad spotted the container after Mrs found a dummy - which was not the right type of container so could not be the cache. We remember commenting that we had to be careful because of the cars leaving from...... and not saying where as that would have been a spoiler. Same issue today and we had to wait out 3 cars before swooping.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Ms M and I went out for a hit this morning so it became an easy park and grab as we left Best Island.
A good idea resurrecting this cache. There must be a few others out there .

Oh yeah! There it is [rolls eyes]!
Much caching time (and a chunk of work time too!) was spent looking for this yesterday.
Thankfully BigglesNZ helped me overcome my feelings in inadequacy caused by my inability to find the cache, by not finding it either.
In the intervening time, some further intelligence was provided, and gratefully received, meaning a return visit today beckoned.
That intelligence proved spot on with the find being made in a fraction of the time spent previously.
Thanks for [re]questing this one.

What a difference a day makes. Having received a 2nd hand nudge and confirmation that the cache was indeed exactly where it was supposed to be, I returned today to make an almost instant find in a location I was sure I'd looked at yesterday. PPP - 120 - Saturn -> ... TFTC, Biggles.
On the occasion we passed GZ we always mentioned the Quest series and if this one was still there. Either muggles, the weather or both made us leave it for another day while reminiscing on "the Quest" and our ultimate victory. The find was just like I remembered it, even the container the original. Thank you johnthestrong for the memories
Ah yes, the Quest. A great series and I well remember finding this one here. We hadn't read the cache page properly so made much harder work of finding it than we should have. Oops
